In the affairs of Man ignorance trumps plenty every time.
After hearing the Republicans expose all the exculpatory evidence the Dems withheld, their position now is 1) well OK, maybe our evidence against Trump is really not all that “overwhelming”, but 2) the real overwhelming evidence exists and will come out if we can continue the investigation and hear from our list of witnesses. The president’s defense team’s position is 1) let’s use that overwhelming evidence of yours that took three years to develop, then 2) there’s no need to continue this investigation in the Senate, but if required, we have our own list of witnesses to be called. Wanna play?
The lamestream media coverage has been all one-sided. Last week they hung on every word from Schiff, Nadler, et al as they spun out their allegations, presumptions, beliefs, … without a shred of evidence that any of it constituted “high crimes and misdemeanors” or for that matter, any acts historically unique to this president in carrying out his duties. When the Republican defense took the podium, the major lamestream outlets gave those arguments short shrift, and focused entirely on their new great hope, the presumed testimony of former national security adviser John Bolton. (Attentive readers know that FN is the only voice of balance and reason against the phalanx of leftwing propaganda continually spewed by ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC. National news is not a level playing field.)
To give credit where due, the lamestream has perfectly performed as the public communications arm of Team Schiff and his House managers. Nowhere do they inform their viewers that it was not Donald Trump but Joe Biden who pulled off the quid pro quo with Ukraine by threatening to withhold aid if they did not immediately (within six hours) fire the prosecutor investigating Ukraine’s Burisma on whose board sat energy naïf Hunter Biden raking in cartloads of cash. That Obama-launched corruption was a ripe target for investigation to understand how our aid monies were spent. But that was a politically incorrect endeavor, and therefore not considered by anyone outside the administration, most certainly not by Team Schiff.
Circling back to John Bolton, it interests me no end to follow the career of the former Trump staffer after he publishes his ‘kiss and tell’ memoir that claims to out at a most inconvenient time the confidential Oval Office conversations between him and the president of the United States, the man he was sworn to serve in a professional manner. Who in hell would now engage Bolton in any kind of consulting or advisory capacity knowing that he has demonstrably defected in positions that demand confidence and trust?

Not likely since he doesn't have a big daddy in the deep state able to pull levers like those that are pulled for Jared and Invanka.. I would mention donnie jr. and Eric but they are both too stupid to be of any note or threat to our democracy.
Alan Dershowitz, who don't forget defended child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein which makes him the perfect guy for trumpler's defense team, is now claiming that a president who manipulates foreign policy to aid his reelection cannot be impeached. In other words, using the power of the office of president to extort or bribe (using tax payer money by the way) officials of a foreign government to interfere in our elections is now an acceptable part of our electoral system, so get over it. Is this acceptable to you?
I assume that you favor a Senate trial without further testimony or documents. A sham of a trial that will provide an outcome that will soothe your brain and reinforce your wisdom.... It was all those nasty dems and evil journalists who just made all this crap up..right.. trying to brainwash the public and take away your vote for trump, that didn't count anyway because of the electoral college. But Moscow Mitch and the trumplican cult will save you and yours from total embarrassment while ending the 'great experiment in democracy' as we plummet toward authoritarianism. Just drink the trump-aide and it will all turn out fine.

Sham? Sham, Roberta says. I agree. The House impeachment hearings were a sham and the sham continues.
John Bolton went to see the judge. The House Dem lawyers where there. Bolton says, “Hey Judge, if you want me to testify to Schiffilis’s gang, I need you to order me. The House lawyers said, “Nah, your honor, we don’t need Ambassador Bolton’s testimony. We got all we need.” Case dropped.
So, what happens next? As soon as the House Dems did their ceremonial march over to the Senate (after holding the Articles of Impeachment for weeks), the very FIRST thing they shriek is “We Need witnesses. We need Bolton to testify!!!!” And that was before Sunday night’s Bolton Red Herring book ‘bombshell’
Talk about a sham. The lying sack of schiffs tell a court they don’t need no stinkin’ Bolton testimony, then cry “Unfair! Coverup, unfair, coverup” the second their case leaves the House.
Sham. Sham. Sham. Lying sacks of schiffs

Topping My Impeachment Witness List: Adam Schiff
Schiff and his so-called "whistleblower" have scripted this entire inquisition.
“That happened while Schiff’s co-conspirator, Ciaramella, was the Ukraine adviser to Biden.
Democrats are even more concerned about exposing Ciaramella’s motives now that investigative journalist Paul Sperry has revealed this inconvenient tidbit: “Barely two weeks after Donald Trump took office, Eric Ciaramella … was overheard in the White House discussing with another staffer how to remove the newly elected president from office, according to former colleagues.”
And Fox News’s Laura Ingraham reported that the whistleblower also has some extremely inconvenient connections to both the Bidens and Burisma.“

Were countin em down……..
Also in 2009, Barack Obama illegally fired Gerald Walpin, the Inspector General for the Corporation for National and Community Service. Walpin’s only crime was that he was investigating Obama’s friend and donor, Kevin Johnson. Johnson had misused federal grant money for AmeriCorps by funneling it to his personal nonprofit group, paying for political activity, and using it to pay hush money to underage girls he’d sexually abused. When Walpin recommended charges against Johnson, Obama, in violation of federal law, fired him. An investigation by Congress into the illegal firing was met with stonewalling by the Obama White House, and the withholding of documents. The Obama White House also deliberately misled Congress about the reasons for the firing.
How do Democrats justify not impeaching Obama after he broke the law by firing an Inspector General to protect someone who sexually abused underage girls just because he was a friend and supporter?
Because…..shut up….that's why!
Barack Obama violated at least four federal laws back in 2010 by offering then-Congressman Joe Sestak (D-PA) a job in his administration for not challenging Arlen Specter for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. Specter had recently switched from the GOP to the Democratic Party, and that switch was contingent on support from Obama. Obama’s then-spokesman Robert Gibbs wouldn’t confirm or deny that they made any offer. It wasn't until after Sestak defeated Specter in the primary that the Obama White House finally admitted that Obama offered Sestak a federal job to stay out of the election. The media was quick to accept the White House version of events, including the “everybody does it” excuse, and they accepted the White House claim that nothing improper happened. Even Republicans lost interest in pursuing the story after Sestak was defeated in the general election by Republican Pat Toomey.
Obama spent most of his presidency with a divided Congress or a GOP-controlled Congress. His radical left-wing agenda was mostly DOA because rather than work toward compromise legislation, his default position was to act on his own, assuming the executive authority to change laws via executive fiat. Anyone who’s familiar with the Constitution knows he had no such authority.
Still, when the DREAM Act failed to pass, Obama issued an executive order creating DACA, an executive-branch version of the DREAM Act. Obama literally bypassed Congress, changing U.S. immigration law via executive pen to appease his pro-open-borders base.
What makes Obama’s abuse of power here even worse is that he’d previously acknowledged that he didn’t have the power to unilaterally create immigration law. But, when that pesky Constitution impeded his radical agenda, suddenly he decided that he did have that power. How many times have we heard Democrats claim that “no president is above the law” when talking about Trump? So far, they’ve failed to make a case that Trump has acted above the law because polls haven’t changed since they started the impeachment process. But, when Obama repeatedly acted above the law, they were nowhere to be found.

And George's summation is spot on here as we see the lefty propaganda lemmings of the media do their mass's bidding. But the truth is spreading and they will be defeated. The Rally in NJ was a small example of the people's rejection of the media and the left's attempts to take over. 150,000 people at the rally inside and out. And the aerial shots prove it. In a blue state! So in my opinion most Americans are fair minded and this will coalese in November to a huge win for the R's.

Quotes: A day old, but still tasty.
Grand delusions: “I understand why Leader McConnell and President Trump wanted a very short, incredibly rushed trial. Because the longer it goes on, the more likely that new evidence and more new evidence will come out that further implicates the president.” —Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who didn’t complain when House Democrats rushed their inquiry
And who’s controlling the drip? “There’s been a steady drip, drip, drip of information… In that sense, this is reminiscent of Watergate.” —Chuck Schumer
The BIG Lie: “Hunter Biden has nothing to do with the facts of this trial.” —Chuck Schumer
And last… “Last month: The case is made, it’s not important to fight over witnesses, we need to rush this to the Senate, no time for court. This month: The fate of the Republic hinges on witnesses, and this should drag on in the Senate for as long as it takes because it’s just like court.” —Twitter satirist @hale_razor

Democratic senators asked the House managers and Trump’s legal team who is paying Rudolph W. Giuliani in his capacity as the president’s personal attorney.
Neither side could say.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the lead impeachment manager, said he doesn’t know, but that it “raises profound questions.”

Incredible that the Republicans were so lame as to allow the Dems such a campaign issue that they will have if the do not allow Bolton and others to testify in the impeachment trial. Allowing witnesses is supported by 75% in a poll this week. Not allowing was only supported by 20%. The Dems knew they would not have the votes for removing Trump so their strategy was to hopefully have them deny witnesses which they will likely do. DUMB DUMB DUMB
"On week two of the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, registered voters say 75 - 20 percent that witnesses should be allowed to testify in the impeachment trial, according to a Quinnipiac (KWIN- uh-pea-ack) University national poll released today. Support for witness testimony includes 49 percent of Republicans, 95 percent of Democrats, and 75 percent of independents.
"There may be heated debate among lawmakers about whether witnesses should testify at the impeachment trial of President Trump, but it's a different story outside the Beltway. Three-quarters of American voters say witnesses should be allowed to testify, and that includes nearly half of Republican voters," said Quinnipiac University Poll Analyst Mary Snow. "

That's how you do it. Warren pisses off Judge Roberts, and Schiffty has to to make nice and kiss Robert's behind. And sure used plenty of tongue.
https://www.foxnews.com/media/sen-elizabeth-warren-john-roberts-impeachment-question-about-legitimacy-of-chief-justice
"Roberts read her question from the card -- which referenced him.
"At a time when large majorities of Americans have lost faith in government, does the fact that the chief justice is presiding over an impeachment trial in which Republican senators have thus far refused to allow witnesses or evidence contribute to the loss of legitimacy of the chief justice, the Supreme Court, and the Constitution?" Roberts read from the card handed to him by the clerk.
And now for Schiffty's ass kissing.
"When he finished reading the question -- explicitly posed to the House Impeachment managers -- Roberts pursed his lips and shot a chagrined look.
After a moment, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., the lead impeachment manager, appeared at the dais to answer the question -- standing mere feet in front of Roberts.
Schiff appeared to try to distance himself from Warren's question, offering a short answer to the question before speaking at length about a tangential exchange."

Bloomberg) -- Less than half of Democrats are confident their party’s candidate will win the presidency this year, a stark contrast to Republicans who were overwhelmingly positive about President Donald Trump’s chances, a national survey released Thursday found.

From BillT's link:
“Imagine Donald Trump deciding sometime in June, ‘Well, I heard this conspiracy theory that a lot of illegal immigrants voted in California, so I’ve decided that during the presidential election California has to undergo extreme vetting because we can’t trust their votes. We’re going to shut down voting in a state.’”
“This is literally the kind of thing he will do now. We’re not talking hypotheticals anymore.”
ROFLMAO. It's a beautiful thing. It's like kids telling ghost stories.
Oh well, at least we'll have a good lookin' queen.
Sen. Paul asks his question. Excitement reigns.
My wager of the day. Either sometime right before the Senate vote or right after, the Democrats will get up and vacate the chamber in some sort of solidarity move.

Bill T, scenes - re Trump "shutting down the voting in CA".
Isn't that all the left ever has? It's always what 'will happen'.
The climate, at the border, in Iran, at the White House - these spittle-blowing blowhards constantly warn of what 'will happen'.
That it never does seems to be of no concern. Just offer some kind of brand new horror that 'will happen'.
That's the problem with calling him 'literally Hitler'.
Once you've put yourself in that box, all you have left is mindless ranting.
Meanwhile, over at places like National Review - there's plenty of grounded criticism of Trump, but the left can't use any of that because they've branded NR to all be a bunch of NAZIs.
If the economy sours and the Dems can figure out how to run a candidate like Tulsi Gabbard, I think they can win.
There's still plenty of time for a lot to happen.

etc. Something is odd here. Not only is there that Blue Mob kind of old time religion going on, but it's really heavy on Islamic interests.
A person could go down a real rat hole of money flow looking for neferious doings, but I expect that the barrier to entry is low enough on the internet that it can shrug off the more ham-handed variants.

Watch Dem Impeachment Managers Give Murkowski The Middle Finger When She Asks About Witnesses
JANUARY 30, 2020
“Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkoski posed a relevant question to the Democratic House impeachment managers Tuesday night, and the prosecutors refused to offer an answer.
Murkoski asked why House Democrats declined to push subpoenas for witnesses they now say are vital to testify during the impeachment trial when the House intelligence and judiciary committees were given such power after an official impeachment inquiry was authorized.“

BillT: "I don’t know why I even follow the Senate Trail. Everybody knows how it ends."
It'd be nice if it ended, but it's just one more act in the play. The coup leaders obviously know the results of the Senate trial, but you can simply expect this is just one more setup for the trial by mob.
It'll never end, so a certain amount of stoicism is expected.

,,,Give it up George,,,Trump used the power of the US Government to try to smear Biden...it wasn't money that was spent...it was withheld
,,,and of course,,,who hired Steele???
'''In October 2015, Fusion GPS was contracted by conservative political website The Washington Free Beacon to provide general opposition research on Trump and other Republican presidential candidates. In April 2016, an attorney for Hillary Clinton's campaign and the DNC separately hired Fusion GPS to investigate Trump, while The Free Beacon stopped its backing in May 2016.[4] In June 2016, Fusion GPS subcontracted Steele's firm to compile the dossier. DNC officials denied knowing their attorney had contracted with Fusion GPS, and Steele asserted he was not aware the Clinton campaign was the recipient of his research until months after he contracted with Fusion GPS.[11][12] Following Trump's election as president, funding from Clinton and the DNC ceased, but Steele continued his research and was reportedly paid directly by Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn R. Simpson.[13] While compiling the dossier, Steele passed information to both British and American intelligence services.[14][15]'''

'''There is no need for more evidence to conclude that the president withheld United States aid, at least in part, to pressure Ukraine to investigate the Bidens; the House managers have proved this with what they call a ‘mountain of overwhelming evidence.’ There is no need to consider further the frivolous second article of impeachment that would remove the president for asserting his constitutional prerogative to protect confidential conversations with his close advisers.'''...Lamar A.

Quotes
For the record: “John Roberts did nothing while the FISA court which he personally oversees illegally spied on an American citizen. He did nothing when DOJ determined the court was defrauded. But when a senator asked a question? Roberts shut that down. Twice. What a disgraceful coward.” —Sean Davis
Braying jenny: “I don’t know how [Trump’s attorneys] can retain their lawyer status, in the comments that they’re making. I don’t think they made the case. I think they disgraced themselves terribly in terms of their violation of what our Constitution is about and what a president’s behavior should be.” —House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Moving the goalposts: “You cannot be acquitted if you don’t have a trial. You don’t have a trial if you don’t have witnesses and documentation and all of that.” —Nancy Pelosi
A blast from the past: “The Senate may dismiss articles of impeachment without holding a full trial or taking any evidence. Put another way, the Constitution does not impose on the Senate the duty to hold a trial. In fact, the Senate need not hold a trial even though the House wishes to present evidence and hold a full trial.” —Sen. Joe Biden, January 5, 1999
Non compos mentis: “It’s not a partisan impeachment. … Even if it was a party-line vote.” —Joe Biden
Hyper hyperbole: “We are watching the crowning of the president with Mitch McConnell holding the crown.” —Sen. Mazie Hirono
Grand delusions: “Imagine Donald Trump deciding, sometime in June, ‘Well, I heard this conspiracy theory that a whole lot of illegal immigrants voted in California. So, I’ve decided that, during the presidential election, California has to undergo extreme vetting.’ This is literally the kind of thing he will do now. We’re not talking hypotheticals, anymore.” —MSNBC pundit Jason Johnson
Non sequitur: “January 31, 2020: Britain withdraws from Europe and America withdraws from the Constitution.” —University of Virginia professor Larry Sabato
And last… “Democrats embarked on an effort doomed to failure from the start, and [they’re] now shocked and outraged that it failed.” —Rich Lowry
Bonus:
Insight: “A bureaucrat is the most despicable of men, though he is needed as vultures are needed, but one hardly admires vultures whom bureaucrats so strangely resemble. I have yet to meet a bureaucrat who was not petty, dull, almost witless, crafty or stupid, an oppressor or a thief, a holder of little authority in which he delights, as a boy delights in possessing a vicious dog. Who can trust such creatures?” —Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC)

“The News They Won’t Report
And how it could help put Trump back in the White House come November”
“Reports indicate Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell believes he has the votes to bring this impeachment to a swift conclusion. But the problems caused by bias in the media will continue, and Democrats will suffer most of anyone because of those problems. Simple question: Why did Nancy Pelosi believe this impeachment would succeed? Isn’t it because she believed the media would help her drive Trump from office? But she couldn’t get a single House Republican to vote for impeachment, and the Senate trial has been a debacle for Democrats. Headlines like “Schiff Throws Temper Tantrum About His Staff Getting ‘Smeared’ by Reports on the ‘Whistleblower’ ” (PJ Media) and “Top 8 Reasons Trump Already Won Impeachment” (The Federalist) suggest what a disaster Pelosi led her party into. But CNN’s dwindling audience has no idea, because Jake Tapper won’t tell them. Who will tell them? The president of the United States, that’s who.

“The memo by Biden campaign aides Kate Bedingfield and Tony Blinken specifically warned reporters covering the impeachment trial they would be acting as “enablers of misinformation” if they repeated allegations that the former vice president forced the firing of Ukraine’s top prosecutor, who was investigating Burisma Holdings, where Hunter Biden worked as a highly compensated board member.”
