rcross is not Robert Cross. Robert Cross is currently marching down Commercial Street with his pink hat on and his phone is in the pocket of his vagina costume. He is too busy to post at the moment.
Good thing it is not raining hard and he just got back from the big march in Sacramento In 2017, wandering around the Safeway parking lot looking for his car that was impounded and still in his vagina outfit looking rather like....like....Roberta.

Nasty woman.

Todd - The article actually stated that "Burning just one gallon of gasoline will result in the emission of about 20 pounds of carbon dioxide into our atmosphere."
IC (internal combustion) engines don't just use gasoline as fuel. They also use the stuff that flows through your air cleaner. In the chemical reaction that occurs during the combustion cycle (part of it, anyway - there's all sorts of reactions going on) 2 atoms of oxygen combine with 1 atom of carbon and produce CO2. The trees and plants we need for our survival love CO2.
Now - how many tons of CO2 come from other sources we have no control over?
And how does our planet and its atmosphere deal with all this CO2?
Those are questions we are not supposed to worry about. Al Gore has all the answers.
Trust him.

Bill Tozer

Ever notice that when they do those those for emissions from those national groups, they always use older cars. Newer cars bring down the emissions and up the per mile per gallon. They need to get up to date.

Just wondering...I'll let you get back to plagiarizing Patriot Post...

Oh Odlaq, that hurt my feelings, you bully. But, I am glad you got Bobbie’s back. I would not expect less.

No worries. Walt will be along soon and he is the about the only one left not bored with playing with you. He rather enjoys it at times. Patience. Walt is indisposed at the moment.
“Patients comes to those who wait.,” a old doctor once told me with his cornball humor.

Opps. Strike the above.. There are more who are not bored totally with you. Randoml Scott O and Beese Blunt will chime in and give you some much needed attention. And Mr. 🐟,enjoys picking at the scab. Immensely. Scenes oh occasion. Oh Nevermind.

"But, I am glad you got Bobbie’s back."

Well, that would explain the rug burns.

When you write " California has already pioneered such a one-party future ...." you verify my concerns that because of the incompetence of the Republican Party Californians are deprived of practical and pragmatic
conservative viewpoints and we end up with such legislation as
ab5 that passed without serious opposition.

Too bad the Republicans were outsmarted by the Dems to this extent. Of course the Dems in California we greatly aided by the Trump event that has rendered the Repubs extinct except in deep rural regions that no longer includes Nevada County,

George Rebane

PaulE 125pm - Hard to argue with the fundamentals of you oft-repeated points. But given the two competing ideologies - one of individual responsibility, entrepreneurial spirit, hard work, meritocratic rewards, etc vs the promise of social justice that views the haves as having gotten theirs from the have-nots, and now need to have theirs clawed back, redistributed, fairly divided, ... - you have to admit that the Democrat message is the more appealing to those who can't or won't. Unfortunately, with the advance of technology, the latter cohort has a natural tendency to increase given the vicissitudes of nature which differentiate us. With such an advantage it's easy to "outsmart" Republicans, who by nature are drawn to a more personal vs public expression of their ideology. (BTW, we were discussing this topic again at the recent open house of the Nevada County Republican HQ.) Hence the exodus and the sorry state of Republican affairs - no one has put forth a plan for the party's resurgence.

Therefore, I give you the joy of your political dominance with which you and your continue to preen and pluck what's left of the Golden Goose, an enterprise that has a very predictable ending.

lol. Thanks for the link. That really is pretty funny.

GeorgeR: "Therefore, I give you the joy of your political dominance with which you and your continue to preen and pluck what's left of the Golden Goose, an enterprise that has a very predictable ending."

Perhaps it isn't a matter of preening, but simply self-preservation.

My guess is that if you split the writers on this blog into Team Red and Team Blue, Team Red pretty solidly falls into the group of people who either designed or produced things of practical value. Team Blue played guitar in bars, 'worked' in non-profits, or taught a class or two. Simply put, a Progressive approach puts money in Team Blue's pockets while a Conservative one takes it away.

You can't blame Paul for looking after his own self-interest

There is no one left to tell the children “NO!” Lord of the Flies and Kill the Beast sort of thing. Pancho Villa’s economic idea was just to have his government print more money and nothing to see here.

It’s all the Republicans’ fault. It’s a fine mess the Blue Mob got themselves in and who is going to pull their rears out of the fire this time? Where are the Republicans? This wouldn’t be happening if there were some Republicans here.

I reckon some swore to each other to resist every single day since before the Inauguration. Scared vows. Glad to see they tag team here when one starts to weary of it all and fades for a couple of days. I am starting to become spellbound by the phenomena. Looks like no crowds of 100,000 pissed nasty women and men with pink hats in the major cities across America today. Think they are fading too and have no tag teams to send in. It was something while it lasted.

Ten months to go and plenty of time for Trump to get the pieces in place. In fact (painful fact), 10 months is way too much time. Heck, last time the Orange Orangutan had a one in four chance two months out. 25%. Then, briefly a one in three chance. 31-32% chance is all we need. Hey, remember when Lunch Bucket Joe ran for Prez in 1988 and got stopped dead in his tracks for plagiarism. Man, boom, boom, out goes the lights.

It was ole Pat Caddel who wrote that speech for Biden and it was Pat who plagiarized the crap of that British orator. Sweet. Win some, you lose some. Biden never forgive Caddel and Pat still could not ever talk about it to his death. But, what do you expect from “He who was raised from wolves.”

Old age showing again Emery? Ca. was a one party state LONG before Trump was even thinking about being President.

What's the big deal? Plausible deniability was coined by the CIA during the Kennedy administration to describe the withholding of information from senior officials in order to protect them from repercussions in the event that illegal or unpopular activities by the CIA became public knowledge.

It is SOP for Presidents. Look at Reagan during Iran Contra. He claims he didn't know about the funding of the contras etc. I never hear a peep from you about that historical gem. And of course Clinton denied having sex with "that woman" and Bush didn't know anything about anything concerning WMD's or Abu Ghraib or the disgusting exploitation of Pat Tillman for propaganda purposes that involved even lying to his family about the nature of his death. We can go back to WWII and Roosevelt denying any knowledge of the imminent attack on Pearl Harbor. My uncle is a Pearl Harbor survivor and is convinced along with most other survivors that they were sacrificed to allow the Japanese to bomb them to create an overwhelming reason to go to war.

I think the actions of the NSA are disgusting and the whole lot should be cleared out but don't blame Obama TRUMP 2020 without at least putting this in some kind of "business as usual" historical perspective.

Look what mayor pete did for his city, just think what he would do to the country if he had the chance -

South Bend's police department instituted a series of diversity and anti-discrimination training sessions in 2017. The training sessions took place as violent crime surged in the city, reaching the highest level in 20 years in 2018. The training extended far beyond the immediate issues facing the city and instead lectured cops on policing their own language to be sensitive to "isms."

The training slides for one of the sessions contained a list of nefarious "isms" that allegedly perpetuate prejudice and power dynamics. The denounced "isms" include familiar issues such as racism and sexism along with such topics as "sizeism," "languageism," and "materialism."

During his eight-year tenure as mayor, Buttigieg struggled with South Bend's rising crime rate and the deteriorating relationship between the city's police and black community. The city's problems spilled into the national spotlight when a South Bend police officer fatally shot a black resident in June, forcing the mayor to leave the campaign trail and fly home.

The slides for one of the sessions urged officers to avoid the use of "ableist" terms, such as "hearing-impaired."

"HEARING-IMPAIRED: an inappropriate term commonly used by hearing individuals referring to those who are Deaf," one slide read. "Considered offensive; implying that their hearing is broken, and needs to be fixed."

The South Bend Police Department did not respond to request for comment.
The training slides were first obtained by Judicial Watch, a conservative-leaning government watchdog. Tom Fitton, the group's president, said the mayor's office had prioritized political ideology over public safety.

"These documents show how South Bend police under Mayor Buttigieg had to contend with politicized ‘training' that had nothing to do with the public safety," he said in a statement.

The training slides cited "Cumulative Perceptual Index theory" to explain the origins of bigotry and biases. A Google Scholar search of the term turned up no results of media or academic writing on the theory. Professional Consulting Associates, the consulting firm that created the slides, did not respond to requests for comments.

The presentation also addressed the Black Lives Matter movement. One slide, for example, supports the idea that police do not treat all races equally and alludes to an "all lives matter" mantra that BLM has condemned.

"Black lives do indeed matter, but no more, and certainly no less than the lives of every community within law enforcement's jurisdictions," the slide said. "The perceptual proof of that belief is unquestionably not universally present today because such a Vision is not yet universally shared by law enforcement."

The training sessions took place as South Bend dealt with historically high violent crime rates that peaked in 2018, the latest full year of data available. Roughly 1,200 violent crimes occurred in the city of 102,000 residents. The growing crime rate was driven by a nearly four-fold increase in aggravated assault since Buttigieg assumed office. It is unclear what effect, if any, the diversity training sessions had in improving policing in the city.

The Buttigieg campaign did not respond to request for comment.

You can see why his team did not want to comment on this. LOL

Another failed prediction by the po' ol' fakenewsman -

The "Never Trump" movement had once hoped to embarrass President Donald Trump in 2020 with a primary challenge that would expose the president’s weaknesses within his own party.
But Trump’s GOP opponents are failing to even get on the ballot in many states, let alone gain traction with Republican voters.

With the start of primary season just weeks away, Trump rivals Joe Walsh and Bill Weld are ceding an array of key battlegrounds. Walsh won’t be competing in more than half of the 30 states and territories whose filing deadlines have already passed, while Weld won’t be contending 12 of them. The latest blow came Wednesday, when the two missed the deadline to make the Virginia ballot, making Trump the sole contender.

It's the latest reminder of Trump’s vice-like grip on the GOP — and how any hint of opposition within the party has been extinguished. Even before a single contest has been held, the president has already gone a long way toward securing renomination: He will be the only candidate on the ballot in nine states that collectively account for nearly one-third of the delegates needed.

Bill Tozer

There will be third party candidate!

Lincoln Chafee Files To Run For President As Libertarian

He did not run for reelection but mounted a short-lived run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2015.”

The Great Divide and other topics

Democrats’ ‘unfixable’ extremism uses Trump as an excuse: Goodwin

.Even the election won’t be a cure. Regardless of who wins in November, it’s impossible to believe that a “Kumbaya” moment is on the horizon.

All of which explains why a new book by F.H. Buckley feels so timely. Called “American Secession,” it examines the growing prospect of a national divorce.

Democrats’ impeachment trial demands are plain ridiculous
“I see us on a train, bound for a breakup,” Buckley writes.

“In all the ways that matter, save for the naked force of the law, we are already divided into two nations. The contempt for opponents, the Twitter mobs, online shaming and no-platforming, the growing tolerance of violence — it all suggests we’d be happier in separate countries.”

To be clear, Buckley, a professor at George Mason University’s Scalia School of Law, is not advocating secession. But given the political, cultural, social and geographic divides, he believes it is time to consider the hurdles and whether they could be resolved.

He debunks the notion that it can’t happen here, that the carnage of the Civil War forever consigned the idea to the fringe. After surveying modern separatist movements from the breakup of the Soviet Union to Brexit to his native Canada, Buckley predicts that before long, the topic will go mainstream here as well.“

Hatred of Donald Trump has been to some extent sidelined while what Freud called the “narcissism of small differences” plays out in bickering, backbiting, and political sabotage.

“Democrats Consume Themselves”

“First, however, since CNN apparently undertook its cheerleading for Warren in order to declare its feminist bona fides, I would like to pose a few questions as a sort of prolegomenon, what Kierkegaard, in another context, called a “preliminary expectoration.” 1) Why are feminists so unpleasant? 2) Why do they insist on whining instead of getting on with the task at hand? 3) Why do they tend to blame other people for their failures?

I do not propose to answer these questions—I am writing a column, not a book—but I would like to register my suspicion that part of the answer to all three is the dim, imperfectly articulated awareness that feminism’s real complaint is not with men or “the patriarchy” but with reality, with human nature.“

Here is how Proggys are trying to rewrite the Constitution.
"Hoyer, the number-two Democrat in the House, defended the House's impeachment inquiry last month by remarking that Trump was afforded "every opportunity to prove his innocence."

NO you son of a bitch,, you have to prove him guilty.
Try reading the 6TH Amendment. Or has that been repealed already?

,,,Here you go Waldo,,,Trump had every opportunity to testify and to provide witnesses...

He chickened out and obstructed Congress by not allowing certain witnesses to testify...

What is he hiding???

‘’’WASHINGTON — Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi invited President Donald Trump to testify in front of investigators in the House impeachment inquiry ahead of a week that will see several key witnesses appear publicly.

Pushing back against accusations from the president that the process has been stacked against him, Pelosi said Trump is welcome to appear or answer questions in writing, if he chooses.

“If he has information that is exculpatory, that means ex, taking away, culpable, blame, then we look forward to seeing it,” she said in an interview that aired Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” Trump “could come right before the committee and talk, speak all the truth that he wants if he wants,” she said.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer echoed that suggestion.

“If Donald Trump doesn’t agree with what he’s hearing, doesn’t like what he’s hearing, he shouldn’t tweet. He should come to the committee and testify under oath. And he should allow all those around him to come to the committee and testify under oath,” Schumer told reporters. He said the White House’s insistence on blocking witnesses from cooperating begs the question: “What is he hiding?”’’’

Nope. That's what Proggys would like. That's a perjury trap waiting to happen. Did you plead guilty when you were caught dead to rights?(Didn't think so)

This says it all.
"Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., said Sunday that Democrats have been focused on impeachment because “they’re pretty concerned” due to the fact that “they believe the American people are now solidly behind President Donald Trump.” "

I'm glad the LIBS feel it was well worth it to lose the house over impeachment.

The forthcoming bombshell investigative book Profiles in Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite contains 1,126 endnotes totaling 83 pages of source material, Breitbart News has learned.

In addition, the book contains no unnamed sources. Instead, it is based on hard evidence and documents, including: foreign and domestic corporate and legal records, tax liens, lobbyist disclosures, property records, White House visitor logs, federal bankruptcies, and federal criminal trial records.

Publishing giant HarperCollins has kept Profiles in Corruption under a strict embargo. The book will reportedly expose how five members of Joe Biden’s family—the “Biden Five”—scored “tens of millions of dollars” in taxpayer money and guaranteed loans. In addition, the book is said to contain never-before-reported bombshell revelations about Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Cory Booker, Sherrod Brown, and Eric Garcetti.

Its 2014 report found that between 1997 and 2013 more than 1,400 Rotherham children were exposed to severe levels of sexual abuse and violence by groups of men who were “almost all” of Pakistani heritage. To date, 36 men have been convicted for crimes related to the scandal.”

re: BillT@6:35PM

My, that is a nice story. Referred to there (from the London Times):

"A senior police officer admitted that his force ignored the sexual abuse of girls by Pakistani grooming gangs for decades because it was afraid of increasing “racial tensions”, a watchdog has ruled.

After a five-year investigation, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) upheld a complaint that the Rotherham officer told a missing child’s distraught father that the town “would erupt” if it was known that Asian men were routinely having sex with under-age white girls.

The chief inspector is said to have described the abuse as “P*** shagging” and to have said it had been “going on” for 30 years: “With it being Asians, we can’t afford for this to be coming out.”"

Another article:

"Almost 19,000 children have been sexually groomed in England in the past year, according to official figures that have prompted warnings of an “epidemic”.

Campaigners say the true figure is far higher and accused the government of failing to tackle child sexual exploitation, despite promises made after high-profile cases in Rotherham and Rochdale."

...which, oddly, led me to this story:

The actual story appears to have disappeared from the newspaper. No doubt their server ran out of room.

What wonderful towns we live in. The South Yuba River Citizen league produced Wild and Scenic Film Festival drew over 6000 people To Grass VAlley and Nevada City this week with over 120 films being presented in 18 locations. The best of the festival will then be bundled up and presented in over 100 locations throughout the country. It's great to see the streets, motels and restaurants filled with thousands of intelligent young people from all around the country and Europe.
Kudo's so SYRCL for saving our Yuba River and presenting such a rich and meaningful weekend of events.

Also tomorrow at the Nevada Theatre we will be celebrating Martin Luther King
Day with the Bethel AME Choir from Marysville and our own Trinity Episcopal Choir from Nevada City. The event is produced by KVMR. Hope to see some of RR's readers there. I'll be running sound for the event.

What great towns we live in.

Interesting......for all the mewling and puking about racism and the need for “diversity” you choose to live in Lily Whiteistan! A racial and political monoculture of old progressive white people.

The left gets them confused. Cruz is the Latino who identifies as an American, Beto is the Irish guy who identifies as a Latino. I judge bth on the content of their character....

“I do think what we have seen coming out of the House is an abuse of the Constitution,” Cruz told Fox News’s Maria Bartiromo. “And the reason is that they’re using this for political purposes. This is the first time in history any president is alleged – has been impeached without the articles alleging any criminal conduct at all, without alleging any federal crime was violated.”

“They don’t allege any federal law was violated. They don’t even allege as much as that the president has a speeding ticket, and that has never happened in our country’s history,” Cruz continued. “And to use impeachment like the House Democrats are doing, to express their political disagreement with the president, to try to overturn an election they’re unhappy with, that is an abuse of the Constitution.”“

Most obese states in America are the ones void of a shithole city. Odd.
