re: BillT@7:50AM

That's the essence of Emerianism. In a sense, we are all Kavanaugh.

Find an enemy, make up any old thing, attack attack attack. Being *for* something is so tiresome, dahling.

The Blue Mob roars from one target to another.

C'est la vie. Like Mr. Spengler said: "At all times and in all places, the men and women of every culture deserve each other.", and the Blue Mob Members most certainly do.

Well, time to toss Stephen King under the bus and de-platform him. He needs to get up to date. Judging an artist’s work on its quality instead of factoring in diversity is so.....so....so 60’s. A throwback to racist America. Out of touch, boomer. Just like MLK.

King's remarks were quickly rebuffed, with many criticizing the novelist as being out of touch and "ignorant."

"When you wake up, meditate, stretch, reach for your phone to check on the world and see a tweet from someone you admire that is so backward and ignorant you want to go back to bed," DuVernay, whose docuseries "When They See Us," recently won best limited series at the 2020 Critics Choice Awards.

Roxanne Gay, the award-winning author of "Bad Feminist" and "Hunger," also stated she was disappointed with King's comments.

"As a fan, this is painful to read from you. It implies that diversity and quality cannot be synonymous," Gay tweeted. "They are not separate things. Quality is everywhere but most industries only believe in quality from one demographic."

Imagine judging someone on the quality of their work in this day and age, lol. Where do these people come from?

odlaW 740pm - You again misunderstand (but in an illuminating way). I have never claimed that actual criminality is required to impeach. My counters have been to you and yours who allege that Trump violated some law as your justification for impeachment. As I and my learned betters have maintained all along, impeachment is a political act, the required justification for which is only the pleasure of the House. Of course, there will also be a political cost to those who gratuitously pursue impeachment and then Senate conviction for the President's ouster. Dershowitz was merely trying once more to explain the matter to folks like you.

Even you must realize that the Dems would have pursued impeachment in a totally different manner had they any evidence that Trump had committed a crime for which existed a legal citation. The best they could come up with instead was "Obstruction of Congress" (not obstruction of justice) which in an of itself is NOT a crime, especially as one branch of government seeks to maintain its constitutional prerogatives against the encroachment of another branch. I hope all this is not too confusing, because understanding it is important.

re: comma-man

",,,Aren’t these states big Trump supporters???

Here's a look at the 10 most obese states in the U.S. "

My, what an original thesis. While I can't see any point in just phoning in your theory of the day I appreciate the effort.

Bummer that the studies never show how fat liberals are in West Virginia, that might actually be of use. Of course, I strongly suspect that Comma Man's BMI would be a source of some amusement here.

Hunt around for a bit, and health tends to follow social capital. Vermont, Colorado, Utah. Find what links those together and you might have something.

And Oxycontin abuse states...
and most poorly educated...

Between the junk food, junk religion, junk education, and just plain junk going up their noses

...you get Trump true believers!!!

The states ranked 41-50 (((most poorly educated))) in order were:

New Mexico

South Carolina

West Virginia

It would have been even greater had they used the crosswalks and looked both ways before stepping into the streets . Perhaps next year police could issue jaywalking citations.

"Intelligent young people" my arse. They may agree with Punch but that doesn't make them smart, and they may on average be less ancient than Punch but that doesn't make them young.

The Anti-Trump Ranting March was definitely grey haired and long in the tooth. It was also short.

A problem with extrapolation of 2018 election results... it was in the last days where one could pretend Trump was about to be found to be a Russkie stooge, but Mueller produced no evidence to fuel the hysteria.

It looks like Biden will be the Dem nominee, and between now and the election we will be hearing about how nothing done to enrich the Biden family was or is illegal. That's how to feed at the government trough.

No question marks needed, Dr. Rebane. It’s all personal. No just the facts, ma’am. Dershowitz is just the latest one to be shunned by friends and colleagues alike...along with the flood of hate from fat boys in mommie’s basement.

Alan is not a full time member of the Trump defense team. He will be arguing to the Senate solely on the Constitutional matters of Impeachment. He is not involved with the ins and outs of the case.
Al an D. has argued 250 cases before the appellant courts in his 50 year career and never once has been asked a question he was not prepared for. Not even once has he been thrown a question he has no answer for.....contrary to what CNN and other ignorant talking heads are spewing currently that Shiffilis is going to walk right over Trump’s team, lol. Dream on.

But, my good Doctor Rebane, , back to those question marks. Ever read To Kill A Mocking Bird? Great novel required I. My non union public school in junior high. They (those intolerant hate-filled bigots) went after the defendant’s lawyer as well. Shameful way to behave. It’s all personal with them. It’s all Kavanaugh now

Glad that the 100 or so who showed up for the Women’s March in NC had a good time and the weather cooperated. Just imagine if it was a repeat of Thursday’s snowstorm that hit the burg. Oh my.

With thousands of people in town filling the restaurants and streets and folks renting out the back bedrooms for the Film Festivity, it makes me question the mantra of “without legalizing marijuana, the sidewalks would roll up and Nevada City would die like a tumbleweed blowing in the wind.”

Don’t know about the local gathering, but it seems the Women March organization is (besides killing babies) is more about climate change and anti-Trump and divers other social issues than domestic violence, education for impoverished women, etc.

Seems to me the National Organization has lost its singleness of purpose, a death nail to many movements that have emerged and dried up before them.

I could be wrong.

2020 Women’s March Peters Out After Women Discover Trump’s Not Destroying Their Lives
Maybe the Women’s March is losing support because it has become more about a man than it is about women

“Gathering from the signs and chants, the march was much more about Trump than about women. One woman was dressed as a prisoner, ostensibly pretending to be Trump, and carried a sign with some gibberish about Mar-a-Lago. Another person had wrapped their dog in a sign that stated, no “pussy grabbing.” Many signs said Trump simply had to go. This wasn’t a march for women — this was a march against Trump, marketed toward women.

I have always been tremendously critical of the Women’s March, and my experiences today added a new layer of disappointment with the entire enterprise. The radical political positions the organization espouses are obviously tangential to the Trump hatred that has become the group’s raison d’être. Look no further than where the march itself ended — right in front of Trump International Hotel. The significant gap between the march’s purported mission and its actual focus is not lost on me.

In order to justify the march’s obsession with Trump, there would have to be some noticeable reduction of women’s rights under the Trump administration, but such a reduction simply doesn’t exist. It’s possible that former marchers realize that, which might explain why today’s numbers were a pitiful showing compared to 2017’s attendance. There was so much anger in 2017, motivated by frankly hysterical predictions that never actually came to fruition, predictions peddled by the Women’s March.

We’re not wearing handmaiden’s dresses, and we’re not marching around in chains. In other words, the sky never fell, but Chicken Little is still hollering — albeit, as today showed, fewer people are listening.“

Same time next year. It’s all Kanavaugh now.

That’s how the New York Times characterizes the Massachusetts Senator in an editorial today. I would have said “liar,” but why quibble? Whether it’s falsely claiming to be an Indian or falsely claiming she was let go from a teaching job because she was pregnant, Warren’s ability to spin a yarn is undeniable.

Ironically, the Times’ characterization of Warren appears in an editorial endorsing her for president. Such must be the bubble the editors inhabit that no one noticed the irony.

Bizarrely, the Times endorsed two Democrats — Warren and Amy Klobuchar. The editorial board must be split between pragmatists and hard core ideologues.

There is no split when it comes to feminism, though. The Times picked the female pragmatist and the female ideologue. Coincidence? I doubt it.

The Times trashed the leading male pragmatist, Joe Biden. It called him, in essence, too old for the job.

The Times also trashed the leading male ideologue, Bernie Sanders. It described him as, in essence, an inflexible crank.

The Times is right about both of these male candidates. But it’s the description of Warren as a gifted storyteller that really nails it, albeit inadvertently.

On a more tasteful topic, how about some Daily Quotes:

Insight: “A government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth.” —Ronald Reagan

Editorial exegesis: “We should recognize [Martin Luther] King’s role in paving the way for progress even as we acknowledge there’s still a long way to go. Yet it’s important also to acknowledge that those who claim to be carrying on King’s struggle for justice in modern times have strayed far from his dream of his children growing up ‘in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.’ Instead, they have embraced an identity politics that veers from merely fighting against all forms of discrimination, to carving people up by race, gender, sexual orientation, and placing those distinctions above all else. … From his jail cell in Birmingham, Alabama, he called out the ‘white moderate’ who looked the other way on racial prejudice and the ‘black nationalist’ who had ‘lost faith in America’ and ‘repudiated Christianity.’ He spared no criticism and rejected tribalism in all of its forms.” —Washington Examiner

For the record: “The Government Accounting Office determined that Barack Obama broke the law seven times. By the left’s logic, Obama should have been impeached seven times! Where was Pelosi’s outrage then?” —Gary Bauer

Nailed it: “Nancy Pelosi is going out on TV crowing that the president has been impeached forever. Well, when we get to final judgment, the president will have been acquitted forever of these bogus impeachment charges.” —Sen. Ted Cruz

Grand delusions: “We saw a strong case, an infallible, undeniable case for the impeachment of the president, so no future president would ever think she or he could get away with what President Trump has been getting away with in his view.” —Nancy Pelosi

Epic lack of self-awareness: “This is an election that will have such profound impact, so take your vote seriously. And for Democratic voters, try to vote for the person you think is most likely to win. Because at the end of the day, that is what will matter — and not just in the popular vote, but the electoral college.” —Hillary Clinton

Why her poll numbers are dropping: “How could the American people want someone who lies to them?” —Elizabeth “Fauxcahontas” Warren after being asked if lying should disqualify a candidate

And last… “How funny is it that CNN is coming after us for spreading disinformation? I find that kind of rich.” —Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon

Bonus: “Nancy prefers to drink Old Crow. Most fitting beverage for her.”—-Bill Tozer

Word of the Day! Today’s word is Petard.

noun: petard; plural noun: petards
a small bomb made of a metal or wooden box filled with powder, used to blast down a door or to make a hole in a wall.
a kind of firework that explodes with a sharp report.

Use in a sentence: Wile E. Coyote had a petard blow up in his face once again and forever more.

VDH: “Progressive Petards”
“When the Left has to live according to its own rules, it will rue the loss of the civilization it destroyed.”

“These are strange times, in which progressives grow near quiet when courageous Iranians hit the streets to protest a murderous government, but express remorse over the killing of one of the most murderous of all Iranian autocrats.

For years, leftists have decried the bipartisan kid-gloves treatment of China, as its mercantilism systematically hollowed out the old Democratic blue-collar base in the Midwest—only to blast the first president who agreed that China had to be confronted before it eroded what was left of the American industrial heartland.

And we were always warned to fear the government overreach of the intelligence agencies, even as ex-high officials go on liberal networks, warping their use of their security clearances, to contextualize their own previous unethical behavior.

Of all the strange symptoms of Trump Derangement Syndrome, progressive self-immolation is the strangest.“

Tragedy in Virginia......

U.S.—Somber members of the press offered their thoughts and prayers that someone would start some violence at the gun rights rally in Virginia today.

Reporters expressed their grief and condolences as the violence they hyped has so far failed to materialize.

"Nobody has so much as fired a shot. This is an unbelievable tragedy," said one teary-eyed MSNBC reporter, clearly caught up in the anguish of the moment. "It's tragic that we live in a country where reporters who are just minding their own business trying to push a narrative can have everything ripped away from them in an instant when protesters refuse to shoot at people."

In the "conservative hypocrisy at its finest" category -- with regard to the Clinton impeachment "It certainly doesn't have to be a crime if you have somebody who completely corrupts the office of president and who abuses trust and who poses great danger to our liberty, you don't need a technical crime....We look at their acts of state. We look at how they conduct the foreign policy. We look at whether they try to subvert the Constitution." Trump shyster Alan Dershowitz said in 1998. Dershowitz has argued that a President's conduct does not have to be criminal to be impeachable. They simply had to "corrupt the office of president" or abuse trust.

Of course, with the tables turned he had this to say the other day, "You need criminal-type behavior akin to treason and bribery."

Well, which is it Alan?

The hypocrisy surrounding those who defend trump is astounding. How can people like Moscow Mitch sign the Congressional Oath to be 'fair and impartial jurors" while publicly stating the exact opposite?

Bill Tozer

Alan Dershowitz’s point is nothing other than what Dr. Rebane’s and others have made abundantly clear since The Botox Queen Held on to the urgent articles. Nothing Trump has done has risen to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors. That’s is it in a nutshell.

During the impeachment debate when drafting the Constitution, the term “maladministion” was rejected by the body and mal administration was dropped as a high crime or misdemeanor. Removal/Acquittal of a President was such of an utmost and serious nature, that the Framers made it hard. Abuse of power? Nope. Obstructing Congress? Nope. Having the Chief Justice of the Court sitting there was just to add a judiciary element to it. Nobody knows what Roberts role is...probably not even Robert’s himself, lol.

The process of impeachment is another matter.

In common law, there were misdemeanors of such serious nature that it was a capital offense without the stain of ‘felony’. Killing a deer in the King’s private deer land comes to mind. Penalty was death. The Dims think of misdemeanors as jaywalking in modern terms, or like me, disregarding a jury summons once. :)

Bottomline, all the sock puppets know it’s going to end in an acquittal. All bar none. 2/3 of the Senate, not just a simple majority. Everybody knows how this will end. Oh, they are guaranteed embellish their points to make a mountain out of a molehill, but that’s a given. Like, when have they not not make it a crisis?

2/3 of the Senate is all it takes and the standard is high and burden of proof is on the Dims. Probably why the Blue Mob wants to destroy the Electoral College AND the Senate. Mob rule, one man one vote. A ‘true Democracy’. A true democracy has never survived in annuals of history. Always failed. Minority rights get overruled and tyranny ensures, but I digress.

If nothing else, the Dims can get all piss and vinegar mad at Alan Dershowitz and Moscow Mitch and “homo” Lindsey Graham and hate on Rand Paul once again, but, like the OJ trail, it will end in jury nullification, Can you say “Jury Nullification”?, ROFLMAO.

Let’s hear it for the toothless dogs! They will gum on my boots til Jan, 2015.

It can’t happen here. From the Drudge Report.

ICE issues list of ‘fugitive’ illegal immigrants freed by New York City’s sanctuary city policies

“ICE also issued a list of illegal immigrants currently in custody, who it says “may be released into New York communities” after they have served their sentences. Among the crimes for which those in custody have been charged include rape, murder and sexual assault against a child...

But Albence cited statistics saying that last year ICE lodged 7,526 detainers via its New York field office. Those individuals accounted for 17,873 criminal convictions and 6,500 criminal charges. He went on to say that those charges and convictions include over 200 homicides, over 500 robberies, over 1,000 sexual offenses, over 1,000 weapons offenses, and over 3,500 assaults.

However, only about 10 detainers were honored by the city, officials said.

"Those who politicize this issue want you to believe that you have to choose between being an immigrant-friendly city and one that cooperates with ICE,” Albence said. “Again that is simply false. The only immigrants protected by such policies are those committing violence and dangerous offenses, often in the same communities these politicians are purporting to protect.”

odlaW 1125am - Excellent, and neither did I say that you claimed a crime was committed. But your strong anti-Trump sentiments re impeachment infer that you consider the justified basis for the Dem position and actions is that a crime has been committed. Your national political leaders are making this point multiple times a day on the media.

So IF you don't maintain that a crime was committed by President Trump, what then is the reasonable basis for his having been impeached by the House?

The amendment enforces Florida Statute 790.33, which was implemented in 1987 and states that the power to regulate firearms belongs solely to the state. Prior to 2011, the law was difficult to enforce.

"Except as expressly provided by the State Constitution or general law, the Legislature hereby declares that it is occupying the whole field of regulation of firearms and ammunition, including the purchase, sale, transfer, taxation, manufacture, ownership, possession, storage, and transportation thereof, to the exclusion of all existing and future county, city, town, or municipal ordinances or any administrative regulations or rules adopted by local or state government relating thereto. Paul Emery

So George you are contending that Trump did not make "false and misleading claims" ?

Paul Emery

the films I attended were filled with young people averaging in their mid 30's. Were you there? If not how would you have a basis for an opinion?

the real Roberta Cross

George 1:12-- "I wonder what the count would be if, say, the claims of Obama or Nancy or Chuck or Adam or ... were subjected to the same reckoning."

Get real! LOL ...you really do live in a cloistered world of selective information.

For openers, in trump's first 10 months in office, he made more misleading or false claims than Obama did during his entire presidency. All of the above alleged villains put together do not equal the output of bullcrap that trump has spewed upon the American people and the world.

,,,George from your 844a,,,

'''My counters have been to you and yours who allege that Trump violated some law as your justification for impeachment'''

You refer to me as thinking Trump broke some law...but I have been saying he used his official position to try to get a foreign leader to help him smear a political rival...
not a crime but an abuse of power by a man who would be king.
And we agree with Dershowitz that he can be impeached for bad behavior as well as statutory infractions. So I guess we understand each other...

Kick and scream, hold your breath till ya' turn blue.(even more than you usually are) GREAT economy. A job for anyone who wants one. Millions off the public doll. Taxes down. Regulations down.
Yet you BITCH!! Must be one who lives for the free stuff.
One of the GIMME generation.

,,,yes Walt at 239p,,,you will like Florida...plenty of exotic meats to smoke...when is the move planned...

It's funny George......they so desperately need to convinced you of one thing, something.....anything.....really.

"For openers, in trump's first 10 months in office, he made more misleading or false claims than Obama did during his entire presidency. All of the above alleged villains put together do not equal the output of bullcrap that trump has spewed upon the American people and the world."

Whatever is posing as Roberta Cross knows Obama was an ardent liar......less prolific than Trump.....probably, but a liar nevertheless.

They don't care about the sin as long as their side is committing it!

OK Dougy, Trump Jr. is off limits from investigation when he runs for President. "political rival" and all that crap.
Thanks for admitting to being in the "pro corruption" camp.
You know,, VP. Joe using his office to protect his Son from a corruption investigation. Getting the investigating prosecutor fired and all.

Move? Naaa.. Will be here to piss on your grave.

,,,Walt your logic circuits are fried...seek help...

Maybe George can help you understand...

Any real or imaginary Biden corruption is a smokescreen,,,not part of impeachment...

That little wimp Don Jr. is a punk...

So your in the "Protect hunter Biden" camp? Yup Team LIB REALLY don't want him talking. Better get him suicided before trial.
What is Daddy hiding?

Yup, a Trump dynasty is a real diaper filler for ya' isn't it?

How dare the nation run like it's supercharged.

WOW!! The Bidens are real pieces of work.

"One of those projects was the building of a 20-megawatt solar power plant in Jamaica, for which OPIC had approved a $47.5 million loan. Around the same time that project was announced, Sun Fund Americas confirmed that signed a power “purchase power purchase agreement to build a 20-megawatt solar facility in Jamaica.”

In total, between 2009 and the end of the Obama administration, Frank Biden’s Caribbean projects benefited from more than $54 million in U.S. taxpayer loans.

The loans, though, are not the only example of Frank Biden’s business interests intersecting with his brother’s political influence, as Profiles in Corruption reveals."

Just wait till she stars selling franchises.

About time -

President Trump’s administration is readying a new rule to crack down on foreign nationals arriving in the United States on tourist and visitor visas only to deliver their children in the country to secure them birthright American citizenship, a new report states.
According to Axios, the new rule cracking down on what is commonly known as “birth tourism” could be issued this week and will give State Department officials the ability to deny B-1 and B-2 visas to foreign nationals whom they suspect are only coming to the U.S. to win birthright citizenship for their children.

“This change is intended to address the national security and law enforcement risks associated with birth tourism, including criminal activity associated with the birth tourism industry,” a State Department official told Axios in an interview.

One senior administration official said consular officers who issue B-1 and B-2 visas “are remarkably skilled at sussing out true versus false claims” and thus giving them the authority to deny visas on suspicion of birth tourism would be an effective tool to prevent foreign nationals from abusing the nation’s birthright citizenship policy.

As Breitbart News has chronicled for years, nearly 400,000 “anchor babies” are born every year in the U.S. to illegal aliens, foreign workers on temporary visas, and foreign nationals on visitor visas.

In 2019, the Justice Department led one of the largest criminal crackdowns ever on the birth tourism industry in California, where Chinese nationals allegedly ran businesses to bring foreign nationals to the U.S. on visitor visas for the sole purpose of winning their children birthright American citizenship.

Justice Department officials said the case revealed that more than 8,500 U.S.-born children to foreign nationals, almost exclusively from China, secured birthright American citizenship thanks to just three birth tourism businesses in California.

To date, the U.S. Supreme Court has never explicitly ruled that the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens must be granted automatic American citizenship, and a number of legal scholars dispute the idea.

"400,000 “anchor babies”" ....just think about that. four hundred thousand per year.

A good news pic of the other southern Wall. Lotsa women and children needing entry.

@527 400k and their extended families be they spy's terrorists or who knows what.

....and who is fellow in the middle, wearing the Yassir Arafat headress??

Bill Tozer

Walt @ 2:39 pm
"A growing number of cities in Florida are suing the state to challenge a 2011 amendment that inflicts steep penalties on local governments that choose to pass gun-regulating ordinances.“

Careful Walt. Little Piglet will fire off a nasty-gram calling you a Nazi if you don’t watch out and cease talking like that.

Me thinks it’s time we have another KVMR Community Sponsored Townhall Meeting up at the Art Deco City Hall and this time we will tell Judge Anderson to shove it and we will indeed talk about the 2nd Amendment. Imagine having a discussion on guns and shootings while barring the topic of the 2nd Amendment, roflmao. Oh, how they love to control the narrative and rules up in My Little Pony Fairytale Land, Ponytail Land for short.

"....and who is fellow in the middle, wearing the Yassir Arafat headress??"

A future rocket scientist. His career is being interrupted by the Mexican cops.

Scenes @ 5:27 pm

Well, you have to admit their green wall is prettier than our earth tone wall. Mexico is more progressive, I reckon.

Bill Tozer

And who is the guy in the middle wearing an Alabama tee-shirt? He looks rather plumb and dumb.

Bagdad Bob

Let the terrorist in and keep the redneck out.

PaulE 305pm - Paul, your continued attempts to put words in my mouth have not worked out for the last ten years. I recommend giving up on that. I contend only my statements around which you can put legitimate quotes. That should be easy enough. The rest are your embellishments.

punchy 309pm

I saw them in the light of day. And middle 30's, even if your estimate was correct, ain't 'zactly *young*. In the past, folks in their mid 30's could be grandparents soon.

Bill Tozer

Young people from all over including Europe? Oh, that is just the trimmers still hanging around. Indoors makes it year round if done right. See any dreadlocks?

Don Bessee

BT @ 547 - shouldn't that be wispy little grey ponytail?

Bob forgets that us Rednecks are natural born Americans.
Good luck with that "keep them out" noise.

Great start to living up to that Baghdad Bob tag.

Seethe, oh seethe.

Democrats, meanwhile, have seethed openly ever since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., failed in her gambit to force Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's hand before the House would turn over the articles of impeachment to the Senate. Pelosi had sought a commitment allowing Democrats to call witnesses prior to arguments in the trial -- but, with just hours to go until the proceedings commenced, McConnell, R-Ky., dashed those hopes.

McConnell specifically revealed Monday that he wanted a condensed, two-day calendar for each side to give opening statements, at 12 hours per day. After the four days of opening arguments, senators would be allowed up to 16 hours for written questions to the prosecution and defense, followed by four hours of debate. Only then would there be votes on calling other witnesses, likely next week. At the end of deliberations, the Senate would then vote on each impeachment article.”

Paul Emery

You're so out of date on this. There are no more trimmers Bill. Haven't been for several years. Business in Nevada City and grass valley are lamenting the loss of trimmers because they brought a lot of cash to town.

Paul Emery

Would your opposition to the impeachment charges against Trump arouse the same concerns if all things being equal the charges were against Obama. Would you still argue the same principles?

Don Bessee

Nailed that one and NO one misses the human locusts that were drawn to the illegal pot farms oh great pony tail of ignorance. Especially the needy who had food taken out of their mouths or the neighborhoods they abused.
