defending trump is about as embarrassing as it can get. for example in the "Goombahs R Us- isn't the purpose of elected office to make money?" category' ..prior to the RNC winter meetings at trump's Doral golf club this week, trump more than doubled the room rate going from $254 to $539 for the cheapest rooms. Records filed with the Federal Election Commission show the RNC already paid Doral $169,763 on Nov. 6 as a deposit for the meeting. The party previously spent $602,765 at Doral for its 2018 spring meeting, and $84,822 for a lunch fundraiser it held there in June 2019. Of course, the taxpayers will foot the bill for rooms and food for secret service etc. at eh higher rates.

Bill Tozer

The tale of two marches. One leaves trash behind for others to clean up their mess and the other cleans up after themselves. One is growing smaller while the other is holding its own just fine.

History: Trump to Become First President to Attend March for Life Rally

“The rally is expected to draw an estimated 100,000 pro-life supporters to the nation’s capitol and always takes place around the time of the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade abortion ruling.”

GeorgeR: "Sure would like to hear some candidate preferences from our leftwing readers. Seems that no one here actually has a favorite whose creds they would put on display and defend."

I think I'd assign it this way..
RCross = Warren
CommaMan = Biden
PaulE = Sanders

Bill Tozer

Scenes...and Dr. Rebane.

I would just like to hear who our sock puppets THINK will win the Dem nomination, not who they want to win. That would be a start. We who participated in the Dropout Derby have already chosen who we think will win the Dem nomination; split between Warren and Sleepy Joe.

Comma man is Biden, Robert Cross seems like a Bernie Bro like Ben Emery, and Paul is for anyone but Trump. Bernie and Warren are viewed as interchangeable, generally speaking, so it’s two for the price of one. Hedge your bets with the Socialists and capitalism haters. All of the major candidates are statists. They kinda are comfortable with Big Bro watching you. The Two Minutes of Hate is just icing on the cake.

the assignment derby:

BillT: RCross=Bernie, Paul=Emerianism, CommaMan=Biden
scenes: RCross=Warren, Paul=Bernie, CommaMan=Biden

I went for mine thinking that I hear Warren when reading RCross, see Bernie when I read Paul, think of Biden's hands when I read CommaMan.

In the 'ignorance is bliss' category of defense strategies -- Lindsay Graham stated that “If he (trump) thought he was doing something wrong, he would probably shut up about it,” --
In other words, trumpler is innocent because he didn't know any better. What about refuting the charges by allowing documents and testimony? Unless, of course, the facts can't be refuted... then obstruct obstruct obstruct, which is exactly what is happening.

and for the record, I do think Warren has the best policy ideas but anyone but trump will do.

Don Bessee

What lame trolls we have, the RNC is not part of the government and is using donated funds braniac.

RCross: "TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP I do think Warren has the best policy ideas TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP"

Excellent. +1 for me.

Bill Tozer

Oh Robert Cross.

In our nation, it is up to the prosecution to prove a man guilty. If they cannot do so, the man is not guilty. No where, no way, and no how is the burden of proof put on the defendant to prove his innocence. That would be against the Constitution, our rights, the Amendments and definitely who we are not.

Burden of proof falls on Schiffilis and the Dems, not the accused.

BillT: "In our nation, it is up to the prosecution to prove a man guilty."

Unless the IRS is involved. It's funny when you think about how many courts there really are in a country. The rules and ruling bodies accrete over time.

Luckily, the Blue Mob Courts will likely have their act together in terms of how to determine matters. Tearing down Western Civilization is a weighty matter and even the smallest limb-from-limb rendering of an opponent requires consensus.
Taken from the Occupy movement hand signal wiki page:
Up twinkles or simply twinkles are both hands raised with fingers pointing up and being wiggled. Twinkles indicates agreement with what is being said. This handsignal was borrowed from the Green Party, who borrowed it from the ASL word for applause.
Flat hands means that you are not sure, not for, or not against. One may be asked to clarify one's position.
Down twinkles are arms raised but showing the back of both hands with fingers pointing down and wiggling. Down twinkles indicate disagreement with what is being said. One will be asked by the facilitator to clarify one's objection. In Occupy Boston (possibly other sites), down twinkles go by the alternate name of "squid fingers".[12]
Thumbs up, neutral, or thumbs down—Some locations use the thumbs signal, to show approval, neutrality, or disapproval similar to the Pollice verso of Roman gladiators.[10]
Direct response is both hands moving alternately front to back on each side of the head and directed at an individual. Direct response indicates that critical information was missing from something that was just said.
Clarifying question is a single hand formed in the shape of a C. Clarifying question means that someone has a question that needs to be answered before that person can vote on an issue.
Point of process is a triangle formed by two hands with the index fingers touching and the thumbs touching to form a triangle shape. Point of process means that the conversation has strayed from the original topic.
Wrap it up is both hands moved in a circular motion about each other. It means that the speaker should make his or her points and finish speaking.
Raise the roof is both hands with palms facing up being moved up and down above shoulder level. Raise the roof means to speak up.
Hard block is holding arms up and crossed. This indicates a firm opposition to the proposal, a break from the consensus that cannot be supported by this individual.

Promise made,,another one kept.
"The Environmental Protection Agency finalized a rule Thursday afternoon scaling back an Obama-era regulation farmers and energy producers said saddled them with unnecessary burdens."

Bill Tozer

I guess I have been doing my jazz hands all wrong. Too much motion when I get into it. :)
Well, this is a no-brainer for those in the know. The others have been too preoccupied with Trump’s impeachable tweets

“Carter Page FISA warrant lacked probable cause, declassified DOJ assessment finds”

"Today’s unprecedented court filing represents another step on the road to recovery for America’s deeply damaged judicial system."—Carter Page.

I know, I know. The FBI, CIA, and NSA simply mischaracterized Mr. Page, lol.
Heard Carter is running for Katie Hill’s vacant seat. Yo Katie, here is a helpful hint. Never take nudes shooting down. It is not flattering. Next time, take your nude photos looking up. Better that way..and in your case, much better. You go girl.

,,,My picks have gone like this...

Mayor Pete for a while...Biden too old...too much baggage
I like Steyer, Amy, Bloomberg and Yang in no particular order...

Lizzy and Bernie are far left
Thought Gabby had potential until she and Hillary got onto it...
Might end up with Bloomberg as Wall Street would be cool with it and he has governed a big city...
Bloomberg/Amy ticket?

Bill Tozer

Bloomberg might do it. But, the question I posed, is not who you want to win, but who you think will win the Dem nomination. I still think Sleepy Joe will win because his numbers are on cruise control, hold steady poll in and poll out (National basis) and it’s the only one who has support of the black community by far (Obama’s coattails), can take the South, and across the board, more Dems are comfortable with a Biden instead of a Warren or Bernie.

The Dem leadership and other candidates are too far left and too far gone. The leadership is not in step with the “average” Dem. so, I think Joe will win the nomination, faults, age, warts and all. The gaffs are already built in, and he won’t need the youth vote as that is his biggest weakness.

" I still think Sleepy Joe will win because his numbers are on cruise control"

I just thought of that as a given. From the outside looking in, the movers 'n shakers in the Democratic Party are just a modern Tammany Hall. Obama was an outlier who built a good organization. AOC & Co. can shriek all they like, but the old folks are in control.

The real competition is for the VP gig and the more desirable cabinet slots. Elizabeth Warren has to be careful not to tick off Biden (well, his handlers) too much in order to pick up the VP or SecState slot. Bernie would never get an offer so he can do as he likes. He's more dangerous and needs squashing.

Absent the Trumphate, it's all just business as usual.....for either party.

Bill Tozer

Russia, Russia, Russia. Instead of looking at Russia, how about we look at the real problem”

“According to the court order signed by Presiding Judge James Boasberg, the Department of Justice now concedes that “at least” two of the four warrants approved by the FISA court lacked probable cause and were therefore “invalid” (i.e., illegal). Judge Boasberg adds that “[t]he government apparently does not take a position on the validity” of the first two warrants issued on Page”

It’s a start, a baby step. Can’t wait for early summer if Barr is still around.

Fredo does it again -

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin was asked by reporters about Thunberg's call for countries to divest from fossil fuels, which he didn't exactly take too seriously.

“Is she the chief economist? Who is she? I’m confused,” Mnuchin jokingly replied. "After she goes and studies economics in college, she can come back and explain that to us."
That didn't sit well with one particular CNN anchor.

"Why do these Trumpers think it is OK to go at a kid?" Cuomo tweeted, scolding the Trump administration.

Critics on social media quickly reminded Cuomo about the attacks Sandmann faced by his network, which led to a major settlement earlier this month.

"Didn't your garbage network just settle a nine-figure lawsuit for defaming a Catholic child at a pro-life march?" The Federalist co-founder Sean Davis asked.

"Chris, your network literally just settled with a Covington High School kid after you smeared him," political strategist Caleb Hull told the anchor.

"The name Nick [Sandmann] escape your mind? Or are @CNN employees ordered to pretend you didn't pay him millions for smearing him a year ago for not supporting your left-wing politics?" radio host Derek Hunter reacted.

Scott O

Ah - Bloomberg. Boy, has he got plans. He's going to 'decarbonize' the US by mid-century. And the tens of millions of IC engines that need carbon based fuels?
Seems he has no plans for that.
And he's going to make sure that every single time everyone purchases a firearm, there's going to be a background check.
As in -
"Ya got the 100 bucks?"
Oh, no - he isn't worried about those kinds of folks. They never give anyone trouble at all.
No - he's going to go after the NRA.
Cause you know how they murder and rob banks and stuff.

In case you think I'm joking check out this quote:

“My daughter is in school,” the man said, as captured in The Hill’s transcription of the exchange. “I saved all my money just to pay my student loans. Can I have my money back?”

“Of course not,” Warren responded.

“So you want to help those who don’t save any money and the ones that do the right thing get screwed?” he responded.

The Hill notes that the man cited his friend who makes more money than he does and, instead of paying off his loans, bought a car and went on expensive vacations.

“I saved my money,” the man said. “He made more than I did. I worked a double shift, worked extra … so you’re laughing at me.”

“No I’m not,” Warren responded.

“Yes that’s exactly what you’re doing,” the man said. “We did the right thing and we get screwed.”

That is a sentiment that is widely applicable to the Democrats’ policy proposals.

An anecdotal tale packed with so much of a bigger story.

ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos was caught on camera making a throat-slash gesture as the Disney-owned network cut away from President Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow taking questions from the press on Thursday during coverage of the Senate impeachment trial.

Stephanopoulos, a former President Clinton staffer, was presumably signaling to producers to scrap Sekulow’s thoughts on the impeachment trial. ABC aired a few minutes of Sekulow updating reporters on his plans. After explaining that Trump’s legal team will call witnesses who don’t think alleged actions are impeachable, the camera cut back to Stephanopoulos, who was making the throat-slash gesture.

Stephanopoulos then smirked, appearing to realize his gesture was caught on live television.

“What our polling makes clear is that millions of Americans describe themselves as ‘pro-choice’ because they believe in some choice, which would include life of the mother, rape, and incest as examples, but very few agree with abortion throughout pregnancy,” said Knights of Columbus CEO Carl Anderson in an interview with Breitbart News at the March for Life in Washington, DC.

According to cited Nielsen data, CBS averaged 1.52 million viewers on Wednesday, which was Day One of the opening arguments made by the House managers, while ABC averaged 1.29 million viewers and NBC averaged 1.26 million viewers.

The daytimes soaps easily overshadowed the impeachment ratings. According to NewsBusters, CBS's "The Young & The Restless" has been averaging 3.7 million viewers during the 2019-2020 season and "The Bold & The Beautiful" averages 3.15 million viewers. ABC's "General Hospital" averages 2.15 million viewers while NBC's "Days of Our Lives" averages 1.95 million viewers.

Due to the Senate rules, the Dems like Schiffilis can get up there and spout anything they choose, It has just be a DNC Rally so far. The little bit I caught had the lying Dems bring up bribery, extortion, corruption, coverup, Khan from the Gold Star Moms (never Blue Star Moms), and the list of grievances dating back to the first Nasty Woman Pink Hat March, Trump is a dictator (for life?), and did not follow the conventional wisdom and policy foreign experts that got us into endless wars. Sweden Close to Collapse.

“If there is any lesson to be drawn from history, it is that what you do not think will happen, does. Time and again. The final consequence of the West and, above all, Sweden's immigration policy is that the economy will collapse -- because who is going to pay for it all? And economic breakdowns, once they happen, always happen very fast."

good article @9:42.

I think he missed something by not, at least partly, explaining the growth of California's golden age as an overshoot from WWII, but I did like this part:
from https://amgreatness.com/2020/01/24/how-the-golden-state-embraced-corporate-socialism/

"If one were to examine the concept of California as a feudal state, all the pieces would be identifiable. The aristocracy is the wealthy billionaires and the titans of the high tech industry. The knights and the nobles are the public employees. The clerisy consists of the academics and the nonprofit activists, which include environmentalists, homeless and low-income housing advocates, and social justice warriors. Everyone else would be serfs.

California’s serfs would either be members of the state’s dwindling middle-class and small-business owners, paying crippling tithes to the feudal regime, or they would be low income workers and the unemployed, who would rely on alms from the nobles for their sustenance.

Other metaphors work as well. To make an analogy to the old Soviet Union, the aristocracy becomes the politburo, the nobles become the nomenklatura, the clerisy becomes the commissars, and the serfs become everyone else. The feudal metaphor is perhaps more applicable for California today, because unlike in the Soviet Union, private property is alive and well, so long as you are one of the fabulously wealthy few, and willing to partner with the state legislature.

The darkest but nonetheless somewhat apt metaphor for California is Nazism, for two fairly encompassing reasons. First, because the economic models are almost identical; private oligarchs and subsidized monopolistic corporations operating in partnership with a micromanaging government. Second, because where the German Nazis condemned Jewish wealth in particular, and capitalist profiteering wealth in general, California’s Democrats focus their scapegoating on “fossil fuel” wealth, or wealth amassed via unwarranted “privilege,” while enacting laws designed to penalize all wealth."

Interesting that VDH was using the word ‘’feudal’ in encapsulating California a few months ago. If the shoe fits....or as Pocahontas would say, “If the moccasin fits.....”. Feudal state works for now.
Why can’t we be more like France?

Solveig Mineo, who defines herself as a feminist and a “Westernist”, said: “This is what a young girl risks in 2020 for having said no to a [Muslim] boy.”

Free speech is under attack all around the world, and the most common means of suppressing inconvenient or unpopular speech is labeling it “hate speech,” a phrase with no non-politicized meaning, and, in the U.S. at least, zero legal status.

Ya gotta love this guy -

George Kittle is often asked to carry the San Francisco 49ers’ offense, and he’ll be bringing some more welcome passengers along with him to the Super Bowl.

Mick LaMar served in the U.S. Army and was killed in January 2011, while in Iraq during his second tour of duty. LaMar’s widow, Josie, and their son, Nicolas, are fans of the 49ers and Kittle is taking the family to Miami, in conjunction with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) when his team squares off against the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 2.

“The work I do with the USAA and the TAPS organization is something I really have kind of fallen in love with," Kittle said via ESPN’s Nick Wagoner. "I have a lot of family in the military so it's something that I just respect, and the sacrifice that they give is the ultimate sacrifice. So, if I can ever give back and make a family's day or just make them smile a little bit, then I've just done a little part in their lives."

Kittle has emerged as one of the NFL’s best tight ends, earning his second Pro Bowl selection after a campaign where he caught 85 passes for 1,053 yards, five touchdowns and developed into the league’s best blocker at his position.

“As I hit the field to play in the Super Bowl, I find comfort in the fact that 49ers fans Josie and Nicolas LaMar will be cheering our team on," Kittle said in a statement. "It's a special privilege to be able to team up with USAA and TAPS to award a trip to the Super Bowl to Sergeant LaMar's family in recognition of his military service and paying the ultimate sacrifice in service of our country."

I heard (unsubstantiated) that as a direct result of the far lefties attempts to shred our Constitution, almost 1,000 newbee R’s are throwing their hats in the ring to defeat the Totalitarians.

It’s no longer about being left or right, conservative or moderate or independent or Libertarian. It’s not about being a Bush Republican, Goldwater Republican, Reagan Republican, or Tea Party person. It’s not about being a social conservative or fiscal conservative, or a Bernie or Biden or Warren supporter, hawk or dove. Nah, it’s all about protecting the Constitution or not.
Let’s check out a newbee running for Congress, There is something about Anna Luna.

From Anna’s site - You need a fighter to stand up for your shared values on:
2nd Amendment
America First Trade Policies
Lower Taxes
Comprehensive Immigration Reform and Securing the Southern Border
Florida’s 13th District deserves a representative who will put them first, who will fight for them, and who knows what it means to be BUILT, NOT BOUGHT.

Deep State? Is it real? From a lifelong and current Democrat and former CIA operative:

INTERVIEW (Part I): Former CIA Officer Explains The Shocking Details And Dangers Of The ‘Deep State’

INTERVIEW (Part II): Former CIA Officer On What The ‘Deep State’ Looks Like If A Democrat Wins In 2020, And What Can Be Done To Recover

Without consequences, this will continue. Severe consequences is needed. Remember the two NYT reporters receiving the The Pulitzer Prizes for covering and writing Fakenews? Remember Brennan yelling out the Trump is a traitor!, knowing full well what he was saying is bunk. “Traitor!” And no consequences.

Steven Frisch

If I had to vote in the California Democratic primary I would probably vote for Senator Amy Klobuchar but I will wait until after the first 4 contests to decide.

Bill Tozer

Amy is a good choice, but she is not gaining any traction so far in her lane. Who knows at this stage. When Warren or Bernie is taken down (that lane is only wide enough for one) or Sleepy Joe begins to look like he won’t make it over the finish line, Amy’s currency may shoot up.

Which brings up an interesting question. If I had to vote in the Democrat primary, who would I choose?

Personally, it matters not one lick to me who will be the eventual Democrat nominee for President of the United States. Not wasting a lot of time looking at the Clown Car, myself. Not even following with interest how they are tracking. Showing restraint (generally) until it all shakes out. Guess I would vote for a Tulsi or Yang if I was forced to vote in the CA Dem primary.

One thing I have always appreciated about you, Steve, is that you always answer questions posed. It’s refreshing.

Now, the dig. :)
