There they go again -

CNN faces backlash for skipping Trump's initial remarks at White House coronavirus briefing

Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume joined "The Story" Tuesday to address critics of President Trump's daily briefings with the coronavirus task force after CNN host Don Lemon said the televised events served as Trump's "new rallies."

"I haven't noticed a lot of reporters gathered in front of the president asking him questions at his rallies and I never detected the presence at his rallies of Dr. [Deborah] Birx and Dr. [Anthony] Fauci explaining the daily data of death and illness that they must interpret ... through this pandemic," Hume said.

"CNN Tonight" host Lemon suggested Monday the liberal channel shouldn't carry Trump's daily briefings on the progress of the pandemic.

“Those press briefings have become his new 'Apprentice,'" Lemon said. "They've become his new rallies. And he treats the press and the media as if he's talking to the people at his rallies. It's the same thing. It's no different except the audience isn't there."

Hume called the comparison "absurd," adding that Lemon's criticism "seems to be on its face preposterous."

Busted again -

But Liberty University officials have since pushed back on these claims, calling the Times story “fake news” in a piece posted to the school website Sunday night. “The New York Times published a false and misleading story on March 29 claiming that Liberty University ‘students started getting sick’ after students returned to campus from spring break,” the post reads. “The truth is a far different story.”

The post continued, “despite the Times’ sensational headline and story lead, in fact, Liberty is only aware of three off-campus students who were sufficiently symptomatic to qualify for COVID-19 testing, two of which did not leave Lynchburg for Spring Break and one of which tested negative during Spring Break.”

On Monday, the Liberty University’s official Twitter account published a tweet that read, “So sad the failing New York Times had to quote local Dr. with no official role at LU about COVID-19 only for clickbait when it knew his data was incomplete and unofficial.”

Internal Emails Show How Chaos at the CDC Slowed the Early Response to Coronavirus

Aha. Found more stuff to hang Trump on for his next impeachment! What did Trump know and when did he know it?. Or, in Nancy vernacular, ‘What did Nancy know and does she know that she knows it?’ Or does that also apply to Biden? I get those Dems so confused and confused with the Lamestream media.

Bill Tozer

OMG. Now the Commie Bastards are reopening wet markets.

“Chinese officials knew of the seriousness of the pandemic as early as December, yet waited weeks to begin restricting travel, allowing millions of Wuhan residents to visit relatives elsewhere in the country and abroad for Lunar New Year celebrations, spreading the virus as they went. British scientists have argued that if Beijing had acted just three weeks earlier, it could have reduced the spread of the virus by 95 percent.

We also know that in the time before the outbreak’s seriousness became apparent outside China, the CCP destroyed laboratory samples and punished the brave doctors and citizens who tried to warn their countrymen and the world about the pathogen, while refusing foreign offers of help. We are almost certain that Beijing dramatically underreported the number of deaths in Wuhan, and is no longer reporting new infections in China........

Those who believe that good global governance, however flawed, is an important tool for maintaining international peace and for contributing to development and growth should be appalled at how the CCP is undermining the liberal international architecture and suborning global institutions to its will. The normalization of such misbehavior cannot be allowed to stand.“

Re: update: “ The Dems really have a problem – no viable candidate, no policies, nothing but TDS to tell Americans, and now how to pick and promote an alternative (e.g. Cuomo) during our national hunkering down time when the election has taken a back seat, and all attention is focused on the doings of Team Trump.” —Dr. Rebane

Yep, it’s a full time job jumping from one crisis after another. The impeachment “Democracy Crisis, the Climate Crisis, and now the Ventilator Crisis.
Cuomo's Fateful Decision

“In 2015, New York’s Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo was faced with a decision: purchase a recommended 16,000 ventilators to add to the state’s pandemic preparation stockpile, or spend the millions elsewhere. Cuomo chose to go the latter route, commissioning a task force led by his health commissioner, Howard Zucker, to come up with a rationing plan for using the state’s existing ventilators should a pandemic scenario ever become reality. In other words, create a death panel that will determine who gets the state’s limited number of ventilators.

Furthermore, instead of spending $576 million on 16,000 ventilators, Cuomo elected to waste $750 million of the state’s budget on a solar-panel boondoggle known as the Buffalo Billion.

Now, five short years later, that unthinkable pandemic is here and New York, the state hardest hit by the China Virus, has been caught unprepared. Cuomo daily begs the federal government for more ventilators as if it was the job of the federal government to ensure that states were fully prepared for whatever crisis may come along.”

People died while Cuomo fiddled! Wonder if Fredo (currently hunkering down in the basement) and the drive-by media will fawn over Cuomo and build him up as the Great White Savior like they did. Beto, only to chew him up and spit him out. Where’s Bloomberg? Where’s Warren?

Biden is still on the ball,, look.. He made an April fool joke.

Yes! Input from President Chair Warmer would be beneficial!

Jeez.....nominate Cuomo already and spare the GaffeMaster the one or two remaining shreds of dignity he has left!

It’s getting savage out there. Oh Andrew, you shouldn’t have.

‘Shame On You’: Gov Cuomo’s Ex Scolds Internet Over Rumor He Has Pierced Nipples

“Lee’s message comes a day after The New York Post published an article about the New York governor’s body, titled “Andrew Cuomo’s Nipples Take Our Mind Off Coronavirus.” The article featured comments from a Reddit thread, where someone posted a picture of the governor in a polo shirt and remarked, “Is it just me or is Cuomo’s nipple totally pierced.”

I heard they look like barbells. Hey, if you can’t stand the heat....

Seems FOX is getting the Dem viewer that actually wants the real story. Not the "orange man bad" crap day in, and day out.

Steven Frisch

I am not surprised that the cult that gathers here has not changed their point of view even in such an unprecedented event.

The cult of Trump worship is strong.

The Trump administration from day 1 has consistently criticized science as a tool in policy making and the agencies that value data over ideology across the board, undermining citizens confidence in science.

The Trump administration has consistently proposed budgets that cut funding to agencies that use science as a decision support tool, proposed moving or disbanding the scientific and research wings of multiple agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health, including the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease.

Trump cut the NSC committee that addresses advance planning for pandemic response in early 2018.

There was no internal white house team working on Coronavirus response until January 30th, a full month after China announced the beginning of the epidemic in Wuhan, 3 weeks after the virus was isolated, a week after Wuhan was shut down, and 11 days after the first reported US cases. Even more important, that internal committee was not staffed and did no work until the second week of February.

The CDC did not send out tests for coronavirus until the fist week of February and those tests were shown to be flawed and had to be withdrawn. The CDC did not even approve a test for Covid 19 until February 28th more than a month after tests were developed by the WHO, Germany, South Korea and China. We lost a month due to lack of coordination on testing.

For that entire lost month and the first three weeks of March the President repeatedly came to the podium at press briefings and downplayed the significance of the crises, criticized Governor's for taking more focused action, implied the Covid 19 epidemic was a political hoax, and attacked and belittled people calling for swifter action.

While all this was going on the President, against the best advice of experts, failed to anticipate that what was occurring was likely to severely stress public health capacity, failed to order the ramping up of production of critical medical supplies, failed to centralize purchasing and distribution of critical medical supplies and criticized those who publicly stated their need to meet the anticipated demand.

Although the White House banned travel directly from China in the last week in January, there was already ample evidence that Covid 19 had both the potential and indeed was becoming a global pandemic, and the State Department did not even advise against international travel until March 19th...that was after several states had already issues shelter in place orders.

Most important very early in this process epidemiologists were advising that the only means we had to fight Covid 19 pending the development of a vaccine was radical social distancing, warnings that were ignored by the White House until just last week.

In short, this President's inability to understand the underlying dynamics of epidemic and pandemic, inaction due to the potential economic consequences, and inability to make decisions in a timely fashion exemplify a personal and character weakness that has directly led to an increased loss of American life.

I don't expect any of you to change your minds. Your comments here show you are essentially mindless Trump worshiping automatons.

But the American people will not forget. While the world virally ignited, Trump dithered, hesitated, whined like a fucking baby about his own personal consequences, and exhibited the opposite of crises leadership. He is America's Nero.

Over the next 3 months a lot of people are going to die because of this idiot....and you will be right here in 3 months praising him.

Trump as an anti-science president?? The President has assembled the country's most prestigious group of infectious disease experts to work 24/7 on the country's response to the C19 epidemic, and has them speak directly to all America during his daily White House briefings. My position has been for years that progressivism is a strictly anti-scientific ideology, and that a liberal wouldn't recognize a scientist if one were to bite him in the butt. Here above we again have another confirmation of that.

George.. I beg to differ. They believe their AGW scientists.
Even Mickey Mouse PHd. (Ya,, he's one of the "on board" list signers.)

Bill Tozer

Interesting that Trump addressed working with China on the virus during his last SOTU...on Feb 4, 2020. That was immediately followed by Nancy ripping up the speech, lol

Unfortunately China refused our experts in to help out and the scared cow UN’s WHO gobbled up China’s word as gospel hook, line, and sinker. A big black eye on both China and the WHO.

George Rebane

Walt 943am - Their belief in the group you call "AGW scientists" is a very mixed bag of actors, some even have science degrees, but all are beholden to political narratives and properly parroted grant monies. My contention stands that out of that mix liberals can't pick out real scientists doing real science which necessarily produce contending results.

GeorgeR: "Trump as an anti-science president?? "

Oh well, it was a good hit 'n run rant in any case. The messianic 'THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WILL NOT FORGET' and the politicization of science by non-scientists is as per usual. Trump and the gubmint are acting pretty well, but have the same problems as any truly large organization. There will be a lot of lessons to be learned from how the various countries have responded. Perhaps it's just that we have to start acting more like Asians (willing to take orders, mask wearing, etc.) since in the wondrous world of globalism, we'll see ever more people and viruses travelling to the West.

It seems to me that the Republicans are anti-science trope isn't a bug, it's a feature. You get a form of in-group self congratulation plus you get to make things into 'science' that really aren't. On the face of it, this is all about climate science (and it's crappy forecasting ability...more like economics than physics), but really can be extended to any old political need you want. If you're against 17 genders, you're against 'science'. We need a word for something that's similar to (but not quite) Lysenkoism.

It's good to be reminded of just how religious the Frisch's of the world sound. After all the progressive belief system is simply a continuation of mainline Protestantism in a secular society, but it's probably just as well that they stick to non-useful professions.

No doubt the SBC is hard at work on positions papers concerning INTERNET MARKETING IN A COVID-19 WORLD and PLAGUE OR POSSIBILITIES? BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN HIGH TECH HOME DELIVERY. lol. You just watch.

Figured as much,, Stievie can't put forth a LIB than he thinks can do a better job then Trump.

Frisch, as long as you continue to broadcast your belief in CAGW/Climate Change in the absence of observable evidence, your opinions about science are worth less than a bucket of warm spit. You want people to listen to your 'science', demonstrate that you have ever learned any. How many college level STEM (skip engineering, but math, physics, chemistry) coursesdid you actually take? I'm guessing the number will be zero; tell me I'm wrong...

The Swamp queen will never learn. Here the phuck we go again.

As requested -

Cali was penny wise pound foolish and now the rooster has come home to roost -
Disposing of more than $200 million in what are now hard-to-replace pandemic response supplies in order to save up to $5.8 million annually is a political travesty deserving of as deep a public investigation as any other serious misdeed of this century.
This is a classic case of what happens when one party is in control of government — either party — and there is no effective loyal opposition to raise red flags and halt ill-advised, short-term financial Band-Aids that push the dire consequences into the future.
Maintaining good government is often not a sexy topic, and voters often fail to appreciate intelligent foresight over headline-grabbing, knee-jerk reactions. They do so at their own peril, as we see now.
If there isn't a ventilator available for you, call your legislator and ask why.

"Frisch, as long as you continue to broadcast your belief in CAGW/Climate Change in the absence of observable evidence, your opinions about science are worth less than a bucket of warm spit."

You know, I'm not particularly offended by that. People have certainly left a huge footprint on ecosystems, just imagine a southern China without Chinese or Indian without Indians, or for that matter, a North America without the other kind of Indians, so much for the megafauna), and it's easy to believe that we could change the weather over time. Stir in a bit of echo chamber craziness and you get hockey sticks.

The thing is that their solutions are preordained before the problem was defined. You could argue that 'climate change' was created purely for political ends (duh). Anything that might work, nuclear energy, birth control in the Third World, shutdown of mass immigration, trade barriers from dirty countries, isn't allowed. Oh well, in light of current circumstances, so much for dense urban living, mass transit, and the benefits of diversity.

And yet, dear Stevie, about HALF of all Wuhan SARS cases in the USA are in Deep Blue New York state, and NYC is the epicenter. Imagine the culpability of the WHO in their delaying calling it a pandemic by three weeks, and the avoidance of calling the disease the SARS du jour causes "SARS" (severe acute respiratory syndrome) because they didn't want people in certain Asian countries to be overly scared of it.

The "virus", by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses, is indeed SARS-CoV-2. Wuhan SARS, SARS-2.

Governor Cuomo and Mayor DiBlasio on one hand, and the Bad Orange Man on the other. Cuomo for President! And thoughts and wishes of good health to the governor's brother Fredo who is down with the SARS of the day.

Our socialists should LOVE this. Fearless Leader Newsom is looking for an excuse to impose same.(well,,, NY. will do it first.)
"Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has told security forces they should shoot dead anyone causing "trouble" in areas locked down due to the coronavirus pandemic."

Now,, care to "define" trouble?

GR "Trump as an anti-science president?? "

Frisch cannot distinguish his scientism from science. For scientismists, like Steve Frisch, science is a cudgel to shake at one's opponent.

There was never a doubt that when Obama spoke, he was referring to globalist scientism. The WHO is itself a barnacle on the back of the UN's Sustainability group.

Blame Trump when YOU don't do YOUR job.

Don Bessee

Here is a real problem for the socialist dems and creepy grampa joe -

“I think he’s handled it pretty well,” he said of the president, whose daily White House appearances Penn catches on Facebook after returning from his job as a bank security guard. “I think he’s tried to keep people calm,” he said. “I know some people don’t think he’s taking it seriously, but I think he’s doing the best with the information he had.”

Although Penn, 40, said he did not vote for Trump, his opinion of the president has improved recently and he very well might back him for a second term.

While public perceptions are fluid in a crisis, a notable twist in polling at this point is that independents are driving Trump’s bump in approval, and some increased Democratic support is a factor as well. Gallup called that “highly unusual for Trump” in reporting its latest survey, which was released last week and showed Trump’s approval rating at 49%, equal to the best of his presidency.

While Republicans’ views of Trump were flat — a sign they had already topped out — approval by independents rose by 8 percentage points from early March, while Democratic approval was up by 6 percentage points.

more fileting of Frisch

I can't think of a single President in the history of the country (well, since Lincoln) who I can envision teaching science (any science) above an elementary school level (and that includes Jimmuh Caatah, the nucula engineeah)... and by teaching science, I mean following a lesson plan laid out by a textbook publisher.

Hoover and Eisenhower get special treatment... Ike especially, since his warning of a capture of government policy by a technological 'elite' was so prescient.

By calling Trump "anti-science", Frisch is just sayin' Trump is not following the science Frisch's UN pastor is pushing.

I was wondering when this would come up.
"Do you have to pay your property taxes? Gavin Newsom says he doesn’t want to ‘overpromise’"

It looks like the everyone else can take the hit, but NOT the "G" man. THEY want their due.
"Counties, cities and other local government groups sent him a letter two weeks ago asking him not to extend the April 10 deadline for homeowners to pay property taxes. Local officials should forgive penalties for those who can’t pay, they argue, but Newsom should keep the overall deadline in place to ensure that they continue to receive essential revenue."

If no one has money from lack of work to pay for food, and everyday bills,, then how do they expect taxes to be paid?
From the FED checks that are weeks out?

Those rent checks the "G" man says can be late(or not paid at all) is what those property taxes are paid with.

Ain't it grand that the "G" man wants to stay immune from financial hardship?

Frisch - "Your comments here show you are essentially mindless Trump worshiping automatons."
Frisch, along with several other lefties that post here have all pretty much come out with this BS at some time or other.
And Frisch - like the other lefties - can't back up that nonsense.
There is a large difference between defending Trump from lies told about him "Trump cut the NSC committee" and engaging in "mindless Trump worshiping".
Frisch shows up here and spews anti-Trump BS, spews false information about the conservatives that post here and then complains he won't be able to change our minds.
Frisch is welcome to provide evidence and facts and he knows it. He knows that unlike other blogs in the area, he'll be allowed to fully and openly explain himself without being shut out.
But, like the other leftys, he shows up with his BS hit and run.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. Or, in the alternative, call Rear Admiral Polowczyk.”

Trump has Schumer’s number. I don’t doubt that most of Trump’s barbs have a strong basis in reality. Schumer is, first and foremost, a world class grandstander.

Even so, it would be nice if the president could refrain from this sort of childish letter, especially at a time like this. But at a time like this, when the president and his team are working around the clock to cope with a crisis not of their making and especially to help New York, it must be difficult — and not just for Trump — to refrain from lashing out against the odious Chuck Schumer.

“The schools in Arlington County, Virginia are refusing to teach children new concepts, out of a concern for “equity.” The schools are physically closed due to coronavirus, but students have been doing their assignments from home using their school-issued electronic devices. The schools are apparently afraid that students will learn differently during the school closures if they come from different home environments, or have different abilities.

In an April 9 email, Arlington’s schools notified parents that their kids won’t be taught any new “concepts” during the remainder of this academic year. Instead, during the school closures, students’ “learning plans” will “focus on previously introduced learning from” the prior academic quarters when they were physically in school. They will be taught the same things all over again.“
