[What remains the point of debates which are empty of citations that are commonly accepted by the debating parties? As I have pontificated here for some years, and am now joined by my betters like Victor Davis Hanson among others, we are so polarized that we no longer share any cognitive common ground. In other words, we arrive at venues like RR, not only with our own opinions, but also with our own unique ‘facts’ (thereby giving lie to Sen Moynihan’s dictum). The ensuing melee is then composed of nothing but ejecta of hot air flung at the other which make no lasting impact, let alone changing anyone’s beliefs. And yet, … and yet we continue to regularly assemble on both sides of this arena to dance our ferocious dances, making threatening sounds while shaking our spears and shields at the other side, like the natives of primitive tribes or beasts of the jungle that learned to wage faux ‘wars’ without really harming each other. Realizing this, perhaps we can all join in the attempt to discover the point of it all. gjr]

Sure it was a joke?

Posted by: Walt | 26 May 2020 at 11:28 AM
Let’s see what the fuss is all about. Probably along the lines of when Trump dissed (taunted) Punchy's beloved Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger for Arnold’s failing numbers when he took over running the Apprentice. It was shocking I tell ya, shocking.
The morning outrage today is not about Arnold. The morning fuss is:
‘Hypocritical Mika Brzezinski Desperately Tries to Censor Trump’
“And oh yes. Mika’s outrage at the Trump tweet about the death of the Scarborough congressional staffer? She mysteriously seems to forget when someone she knows was laughing about the young aide’s death.
Here’s the transcript from Don Imus’s old TV taping of his radio show on May 29, 2003. The guest: Joe Scarborough. Imus is giving Joe advice in his new role as an MSNBC TV host. It reads this way:
IMUS: “Don’t be afraid to be funny, because you are funny. Iasked you why you aren’t in Congress. You said that you had sex with the intern and then you had to kill her.
SCARBOROUGH: Yeah. (Laughs.) Well, what are you going to do?
Curiously, with Joe caught right there in the flesh joking about the death of his young staffer, Mika has fallen strangely silent.
So. The real question here?
If Mika Brzezinski believes it’s ok to slip into the role of Twitter censor and get the President of the United States banned because she is incensed by his tweets?
Then it would certainly be reasonable to ask if Mika and Joe should not be banned from television. After all, to sit there on a Comcast MSNBC show and repeatedly suggest the President is mentally ill, has dementia, is a would be homicidal-maniac who wants to blow up the world in a nuclear holocaust, is a sociopath and insane and on and on - isn’t it time to retire them from the airwaves? Let them stay in Florida, take away their television and computers and just let them listen in the quiet to the Rolling Stones sing about what might actually describe their respective televised rantings - their Umpteenth Nervous Breakdown?
In fact?
No.
Mika and Joe may be crazy. Obsessed. Infected with a serious case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. But just as Ted Cruz pointed out that “The media should NOT be asking Silicon Valley billionaires to silence the President of the United States” - neither should anyone be asking television networks to silence commentators they don’t like.
Don’t ban them. Let Mika and Joe babble on. In fact, what those in the Leftist State Media seem not to understand is that all of this Hate Trump drivel actually backfires badly and helps the President big time. When I am out on the speaking trail I am repeatedly told by Americans that they are making a point of getting Trump re-elected precisely because of the conduct of the media.
The problem with Mika and her demand that Twitter silence the President is not unlike the problem millions of Americans are experiencing in the midst of the Covid-19 virus with dictatorial lockdown orders from various Democrat governors.
The real - and revealing - problem here is that, in this case, if one scratches the surface of a liberal like Mika, what one finds underneath is a totalitarian screaming to get out.”
https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/jeffrey-lord/2020/05/23/hypocritical-mika-brzezinski-desperately-tries-censor-trump
So Punch is upset with Joe laughing about the death of a staffer? Oh bother. Journalism has become just a license to lie.

PaulE is unfamiliar with the legal notion that guilty pleas can be withdrawn either before prosecution or if shown to have been elicited under duress. In Flynn's case it was both. However to a liberal, under their special legal system, none of this is understandable when such misunderstandings serve their narrative.

THE BIGGEST DEBUNKED CONSPIRACY THEORY OF THEM ALL
“Of all the lies the Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media have told about President Trump, the claim that Trump is a tool of the Russians stands out for its audacity I’m not surprised that the Dems/MSM went big with their lying. However, it astounds me that intelligent people I know who are outside of the Democratic Party and the mainstream media somehow found merit in this claim. I guess if you hate Trump enough, you will believe anything about him.”........
“That’s just common sense. Arms control agreements are meaningless if they can be violated with impunity. Arms control can succeed only if the parties to agreements hold one another to them.
President Obama and his crew must have understood this. However, they were obsessed with “resetting” U.S. relations with Russia and, later, were unwilling to acknowledge the failure of this policy.
Like Obama, Trump wanted a fresh start with Russian relations when he took office. Unlike Obama, he wasn’t willing to turn a blind eye to Russia’s bad behavior in the name of a “reset.”
This was obvious from the start. Yet, Democrats and their media allies peddled their lie that Trump was a tool of Vladimir Putin.
They won’t be held accountable. They won’t look back. They have simply moved on to their next package of slanders.“

I SAW THIS JACKASS TWEET BY OUR JACKASS PRESIDENT BEING A BIG BABY - Ann Coulter
“At 4:30 in the morning Saturday night — well, technically, Sunday morning — I went on Twitter for the first time in a while and I saw this jackass tweet by our jackass president being a big baby blaming Jeff Sessions for the Russia investigation once again, something that was entirely, 100% his fault,” she explained to host Derek Hunter. She had been “trying to enjoy [her] pandemic” before the tweet annoyed her, she quipped.
She pointed out it was Trump, not then-attorney general Jeff Sessions, who did an interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt after firing then-FBI director James Comey, prompting the Russia investigation.
“He goes on Lester Holt and he has to be the big man,” the conservative commentator said, imitating the president: “‘No, no. It was my decision. It was my decision to fire the FBI director. This Russia thing it was just getting out of control.’ I mean, he rambles and says lots of stuff, but he clearly said that he fired the FBI director because of the Russia investigation.”

Yes they did it in their own sworn testimony! -
Similarly, Dr. Mary Gatter, the former PPLA medical director who became well-known for her joke at the end of one of the videos that she would like “a Lamborghini” in exchange for the aborted baby body parts, testified that PPFA provided a “waiver” to PPLA to begin a program with for-profit biomedical company Novogenix.
The video also features sworn testimony from Dr. Dorothy Furgerson, chief medical officer of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte (PPMM), the largest Planned Parenthood affiliate in the country.
CMP explained in a press statement:
Dr. Furgerson signed PPMM’s contract with StemExpress to sell fetal body parts to StemExpress per specimen “determined in the clinic to be usable”, and Dr. Furgerson’s endorsement appears on a StemExpress brochure handed out at National Abortion Federation meetings advertising “fiscal rewards” and “financial profits” to the abortion clinics who provided fetal tissue to StemExpress. When asked if the purpose of the brochure was “to obtain more potential sources of fetal tissue,” Dr. Furgerson testified, “Yes, I understood that that’s what they were trying to do.”
“The time has come for federal consequences for Planned Parenthood,” Daleiden said in a statement, adding:
Planned Parenthood lied to the public and to Congress, but now there is no longer any reasonable doubt that Planned Parenthood sold fetal body parts, commodifying living children in the womb and treating pregnant women like a cash crop. The U.S. Department of Justice must escalate the enforcement of laws against fetal trafficking to the highest level of priority.
From the release of the first CMP video, Planned Parenthood and its media and political allies have adhered to the narrative that the videos of its staff engaged in haggling over the price of aborted baby body parts were “deceptively edited.”
However, in January 2019, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit affirmed the opposite.
Judge Edith H. Jones, a Ronald Reagan nominee who wrote for a three-judge panel, rebuked a lower district court, asserting, “The district court stated, inaccurately, that the CMP video had not been authenticated and suggested that it may have been edited.”
Planned Parenthood has yet to be prosecuted for any of the allegations related to profits from the sales of the body parts of babies aborted in its clinics.
In June 2019, Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and his predecessor Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), current chairman of the Committee on Finance, wrote to Attorney General William Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray, seeking an update on the federal investigation that was supposedly launched in 2017 into the allegations raised, in part, through the video documentation by CMP.
The senators asked Barr and Wray to respond to their inquiry no later than July 2.

Oh well the fake news is in high lather as the trend is against them. Too many liberal alphas who think they game it -
Former acting DNI Richard Grenell slammed Politico on Tuesday over its report that he was joining the Trump campaign, calling it "fake news."
Politico ran a story claiming that Grenell was aiding President Trump's re-election team, specifically in "fundraising and strategy." The reporting was cited by "two people familiar with the matter."
However, after the story was published, Grenell flatly denied Politico's reporting.
"Fake news. Do you even check before writing? What has happened to Washington DC media?!" Grenell reacted to a now-deleted tweet from the Politico reporter who had shared the story.
Following Grenell's tweet, Politico updated its report with his response and reiterated that he "hadn't responded to a request for comment" prior to publication. No editor's note or correction was made.

Twitter did not disclose in its so-called fact-check it is partners with two groups financed by leftist donors that engage in voter participation efforts, including drives pushing mail-in balloting.
Twitter sits on the “Premier Partner” list of one of those groups alongside ViacomCBS, the merger of Viacom and CBS. Twitter’s so-called fact-check about Trump’s mail-in balloting cited CBS political reporter Grace Segers vouching for mail-in voting."

Couy Griffin, an anti-lockdown activist who is also the head of the “Cowboys for Trump” organization, is publicly calling for Democratic governors to be killed for purportedly committing “treason.”
In an interview with The Daily Beast’s Will Sommer, Griffin defended telling fellow activists at an anti-lockdown rally that “the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat.”
“You get to pick your poison: you either go before a firing squad, or you get the end of the rope,” he said. “I’ll tell you what, partner, as far as I’m concerned, there’s not an option that’s not on the table.”
Defend democracy. Click to invest in courageous progressive journalism today.
Sommer reports that Griffin’s homicidal rage is becoming more common among anti-lockdown activists, despite the fact that lockdown restrictions are easing across the United States.

Here's Trumps opinion of the Cowboys for Trump
"Cowboys for Trump member gets ‘one of the coolest phone calls’
One of the members of a "Cowboys for Trump" group who rode on horseback through Washington County last week en route to Washington, D.C., said Sunday he was getting ready to fly back home when he got "one of the coolest phone calls."
Couy Griffin said Sunday in a Facebook video that he was getting ready to fly out of Newark, N.J., when he got a call from the White House.
Someone on the other end of the line told Griffin, a county commissioner from Otero County, N.M., that President Donald Trump wanted his phone number.
A short time later, Griffin said he got a call from an "unknown" caller who turned out to be Trump.
Griffin said he got a knot in his throat and could hardly contain his composure.
But after he did, Griffin said he and the president had a nearly 30-minute conversation.
"What an awesome guy he is," Griffin said in his video.
"He was kind of aggravated that that he didn't get more notice, or he would have welcomed us in. He kept just saying that ‘you guys are my kind of guys,’ and I just kept telling him, ‘you're my kind of president,’" Griffin said.
Griffin told Trump that his group is planning another horse-riding trip into Washington, D.C., this summer and that they plan to give Trump a customized cowboy hat that they hoped to give him last week.
"He said, ‘I got 20 acres on the back lawn. I'll open the gates up and you guys can ride right in,’" Griffin said.

The so called Obamagate scandal is a dream come true for the Democrats. Obama is one of the most popular persons in the country and it will only make his supporters more active. Unbelievably dump as a strategy.

If what you say is true how come Trump is dying in the polls and Biden is gaining? Can you explain that?
Fish
Trumps numbers are low because of the terrible job he's done in the pandemic crisis and the drastic economy at this time. Also people recognize what a liar he is and that he's mentally ill.

Does anyone remember, back in the day, when Trump was elected he blamed millions of examples of voter fraud as the reason that that Hillary won the popular vote?
And Trump was so outraged that he created a commission to dig deep into this vast left-wing conspiracy.
And, guess what? That commission was disbanded by Trump. Say what!?

Trump lap dogs are running in circles,
"Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Anger Management Class) followed the plan to the letter.
The House Oversight Committee held a video Q&A Tuesday with Christi Grimm, the civil servant who earned a verbal lashing from President Trump, and got replaced from her position as top in-house watchdog at the Department of Health and Human Services after she documented critical shortages of protective equipment at the nation’s hospitals.
As the ranking Republican on the panel, Jordan couldn’t very well defend Trump’s quashing of yet another whistleblower, and he didn’t try. Instead, he did what president and party demand of him: He blamed China."

re PaulE 1144am - Actually, the President didn't want them to be hauled in front of the Judiciary Committee, because it would have been an opportunity for Dems to continue their pre-trial show. It was already clear from multiple years of investigations that the "appointees and staff" had nothing new to offer the Dems, they were just to be props for more 6 o'clock news speeches. So, they did not "refuse", they just acknowledged the President's reasoning and honored his wish. Those not suffering from TDS recall that the Dems never subpoenaed any of their intended props.

Well,, that's not how Emery wants to remember it.
Facts be damned. He was promised that Trump would go down.. Perwalked out of the W.H. ..Melania would need to work at the Mustang Ranch to pay the legal bills. The Trump kids tossed into the CPS system.
Emery is posting like a condemned man on death row looking for a stay of execution. Grasping at any poll number that might look good.
Funny,, the ponytail refuses to even comment of the "cheat by mail" facts that are showing up.(ignore it... it might go away)
How bout than Emery? A postal worker changing voter info.??
From Repub. to DEM.!!!
You said that is a myth!

Anyone with a memory would recall that the idea of a subpoena was not an option because Trump would block it in the courts for the indefinite future. I'm surprised you don't remember that.
By the way do you think that the Cowboys for Trump are entitled too their 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms after they declared that Dems are an open target?

Looks like the troops are getting restless
In recent weeks, Democrats have been highly critical of President Donald Trump’s decision to fire several inspectors general from their positions — asserting that Trump, true to form, is showing his contempt for checks and balances. Many Republicans on Capitol Hill, meanwhile, have remained silent and are obviously fearful of saying or doing anything that might offend the president. But one Republican who is speaking out about the IGs is Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley.

Paul
I could take the time to dig out pages and pages of your quotes, but I won’t. It is not as easy as you think and a total waste of time. Yes, you never said that you voted for Obama the first time because of his foreign policy experience, but you went on and on about how concerned you were that Trump was elected with no foreign policy...was was Bubba, JFK, and a host of others not named Trump.
The last time you said you did not remember ever saying ‘that’ (about your vow to never vote for major candidate again in your life), I dug it up and posted it not once but twice. It was a waste of time.
Paul, you forgot more than you ever knew. Conveniently for you, much of what you forgot were proven later (or at the time) to be bold faced lies and Fakenews.
‘My concern is that Trump has no foreign policy experience and Putin will eat his lunch’ was one of the many concerns you kept constantly bringing up that day....and night and day.
Trump is in Putin’s back pocket. Putin will blackmail Trump. Trump committed treason....blah, blah, blah.
Indeed mercy has been shown to you. If all your falsehoods posted here were presented to you at one time covering years, it would be too much for your to bear,. It would crush you. A saving grace is that you do not have to look or remember at your record. A true act of mercy,
If you crave attention and credibility so much, you might start by being consistently right instead of being wrong day month in, month out, year in, year out. But, that would be like trying to catch the wind.

Read it Gregory. If that's part of Trumps re-election strategy to go after Obama it's a dream come true for Biden. Nobody really cares Gregory. It's the economy right?
How about Trump embracing Cowboys for Trump who have called for the assassination of Democrats? Should they be deprived of their 2nd Amendment rights?

If you use direct quotation marks that implies that you have the exact source in front of you. I'd appreciate it if you provide a link when you do so. Otherwise it's a paraphrase and you should thus indicate.Basic journalism.

The problem I see here is that people care deeply about Obamagate. To say “nobody cares” is not accurate. To say I don’t care and thus I speak as the Royal We is more to the point.
There is not one sentence in Gregory’s link that is not documented.
Who was it that was so concerned that Trump was destroying trust in our institutions? Our faith in our institutions is being trashed by Trump! No, our faith and trust in our institutions was harmed greatly by the very actions of those who led the same institutions in the prior administration.
But, Obamagate does under the old Scattershots post, not the new one.

PaulE 1225pm - Au contraire, it was a real and viable option to make the political statement that the Dems were serious and willing to go the last mile. They were not serious because the whole country knew they were staging a political charade. So they just withdrew with egg on their face and kept up their narrative on their lamestream.

Emery @ 10:24- Paul, I think Rasmussen is trying to induce a false sense of security in the intellectually deficient minds of Dims until it's too late to replace "sniffer" Joe as the nominee.
The pollsters used a similar strategy in 2016 and you guys never caught on until it was too late. What'cha think, make sense? You're not called the "dims" for nothing.
Obviously there's no upside in having Trump's supporters think they're ahead...
Posted by: L | 27 May 2020 at 01:57 PM
George
"Going to the last mile" was not a viable option since it would have likely extended till next year. Trump was able to use his inflated powers as a President to stop a necessary and important inquiry into the corruption in his administration. It may be a moot point since he is likely to be a one term President if public opinion continues to go in the direction it has for the last few weeks.
George
You are a 2nd amendment supporter. Do you think that the Cowboys for Trump should be able to carry firearms to their rallies in light of their stated position to shoot or hang Democrats?

Where’s the Evidence of the Supposed Russian Hacking of the DNC?
“On Page 32 of the interview transcript, Representative Adam Schiff definitively asks, “Do you know the date in which the Russians exfiltrated the data from the DNC?” Interestingly enough, upon Henry’s quick response, his counsel intervenes. Henry states, “counsel just reminded me that, as it relates to the DNC, we have indicators that data was exfiltrated. We did not have concrete evidence that data was exfiltrated from the DNC, but we have indicators that it was exfiltrated.” He continues, “There are times when we can see data exfiltrated, and we can say conclusively. But in this case it appears it was set up to be exfiltrated, but we just don’t have the evidence that says it actually left.”
On Page 75 of the interview transcript, Representative Stewart asks of the leaked DNC emails, “What about the emails that everyone is so, you know, knowledgeable of? Were there also indicators that they were prepared but not evidence that they actually were exfiltrated?” To which Henry replies, “There’s not evidence that they were actually exfiltrated. There’s circumstantial evidence.”

No, Paul, Lipsom isn't part of the Trump campaign. No, Mary, I'll not waste my time or try to waste the Professor's time with a makework project you wouldn't bother reading if it happened.
