Are you calling me a traitor Todd? Do you recommend that I should be arrested and tried for treason just because I disagree with Trump?

Wilson introduced us to the joys of socialism after getting us into a war we could easily have avoided and would have been better off having stayed out of. He did nothing to prevent the punitive treaty that led directly to WWII.

Roosevelt let the Great Depression go on for nine years, ending it by maneuvering us into World War II which lead to the 45-year Cold War which the Dems did their best to lose.

Truman got us into the Korean War without the slightest idea for ending it; fortunately Ike had some ideas.

Kennedy and Johnson needlessly got us into Vietnam, again without the faintest notion of how to end it.

Carter mismanaged the economy into record breaking stagflation and left 100+ hostages in Iran for more than a year, set loose the day Reagan took office.

Clinton managed to ignore the increasing levels of terrorism, did nothing about Saddam's continuous aggression and snuck out just ahead of the ball going up on 9 11.

Obama promised to end the rising seas, but instead gave us more softness on terror, including Benghazi, invited Russia back into the middle east, permitted the rise of Isis and signed two treaties- Paris climate, Iran nuke- that were both so against the American interest that he dared not submit them for approval. His cherry on top was to organize and orchestrate our nation's first coup attempt against his sucessor.

See how easy that is, dope? Analysis, it isn't.

Bill Tozer

GEORGE, last posts disappeared. If you censored them (unlikely), then I am cool with that. But, I suspect not, as I was not pushing the envelop. . You don’t have to dig them out. Noticed Gregory’s Rodney King’s Post is gone as well. Glad L’s post is still up. :). Here we go Bruins, here we go. :)

The country was in better shape after Roosevelt than Hoover. Can we agree on that? We were in great shape after Truman despite the Korean War. Not so good after Kennedy and Johnson but in great economic shape after Clinton-almost a balanced budget. Then we have the dregs of the Bush II, massive recession and two endless unfunded wars as well as being asleep at the wheel on 9/11. Obama had modest but steady growth and no new wars so we were much better off than when he took office and now we have a massive recession (depression?) and historic unemployment and Trumps historic mishandling of the pandemic. He's sure to be one termer. It can be argued that Bush and Trump are the two worst Presidents in modern history next to Nixon who is in a category all his own. Republicans all

That leaves only Eisenhower and Reagan as being somewhat successful two termers since and including Hoover.

Walt, liberalism is damned great! You can't have a USA without liberal thought.

The problem is the people who call themselves liberal don't believe in liberalism... they are authoritarians/totalitarians at heart. Socialists. Marxists and Maoists.

BillT 340pm - Yeah, I took 'em down because they belonged under Ruminations, especially after I made a point of it that apparently everyone ignored (1023am). I get real huffy about commenters not giving a big rat's ass about what I write here. We've talked about this before.

Funny thing, looking closely at George's latest Ruminations, I'd again put it here were I to dredge it back up.

George Rebane

Gregory 508pm - We circled this barn many times, and I'm just getting a bit older and more tired I guess. Your topical comments belong under the most recent commentaries that I post on the same topics. They are Sandbox material only if there is nothing similar/same nearby that I have posted on. Most certainly giving an indication that you don't read what I write (whether you agree or not) makes me wonder why you're here. I provide the Sandbox as a Lucky Strike extra for topics that I don't cover and readers still want to talk about. I then take the extra time to read all of your comments. But if any readers who don't give a shit about what I write, then that game can be reciprocated. Otherwise I'd like to maximize the collection of comments under my topical commentaries. And I also think that water is wet.

George Rebane

PaulE 421pm - Country better off after FDR than Hoover? You're kidding, right? But then, maybe it's been a while since you peeked at a history book, or read extensive posts on it on RR. Depending on which "after FDR" you're talking about. In 1939 the country's unemployment rate was (over 20%) about the same as when FDR took office in 1933. I've recounted many times SecTreas Morgenthau's 1938 testimony to Congress. FDR didn't have a clue how to stop the Depression, and desperately needed WW2 to put people back to work.

And no one can compare being asleep at the switch as much as was FDR on 7 December 1941 - this after almost everyone and their brother in the country (and Europe) told him that the Japs (yes, they were Japs then) were going to attack (he could even see the smoke from their embassy as they were burning papers on 5 and 6 December). NO ONE in the world knew that a bunch of ragheads would commit suicide by flying airliners into buildings on 11 September 2001. That was a desperate and pathetic charge you made against Bush2 that demonstrates your 'analysis' was really firing blanks. (Thanks to Gregory, I didn't know your little little 137pm list was an analysis.)

And after WW2 was over (FDR died in April 1945), all of FDR's brain trust rushed into Truman's office to assure the new president that FDR's post-war plan was to reinstate all the Depression-era alphabet soup programs to continue the handouts and therefore continue the Depression. It was Harry's immortal rejection of the whole shebang, and turning loose the economy that saved it with just a micro-recession that occurred in 1946 when millions of servicemen were discharged into the workforce.

You liberals have a real jaundiced picture of what happened in America, and your unionized government schools have perpetuated that dumbth in spades.

Paul Emery

George

George

It was during Hoovers administration that the Depression and stock market crash happened just like it was on Bush's watch that the Great Recession happenned and under Trump that this recession-possible depression occurred. All Republicans.

It was a failure of intelligence under Bush and earlier Clinton that did not discover the 9/11 plot. I mean several of the pilots openly enrolled in pilots school as documented by this link. Isn't it the job of our intelligence agencies to discover these things? It was under Bush's watch therefore he's responsible.

https://www.nytimes.com/2002/05/18/us/traces-of-terrorism-the-warnings-fbi-knew-for-years-about-terror-pilot-training.html

Robert Cross

"NO ONE in the world knew that a bunch of ragheads would commit suicide by flying airliners into buildings on 11 September 2001." Are you being facetious? While no one seemed to know exactly when and where, there were leads that if pursued could have uncovered the plot. It was known by law enforcement that Arab nationals with sketchy backgrounds were taking flight lessons. One instructor even stated that the students were not very interested in how to land. There are many documentaries on the subject, ranging from very conspiratorial to interviews and account from investigators and others with knowledge. There was a lot of noise at the time about the various intelligence agencies not communicating and if they had been, perhaps the event could have been curtailed.

Walt

Daily quotes and a meme. Last quote is good per usual.

Upright: “We know that the coronavirus is highly contagious. So, too, are optimism, courage and action. We should be optimistic about the future. Americans have historically been inventive, creative and persistent. … There is always a third, fourth or fifth option. We just have to figure them out.” —Jackie Gingrich Cushman

For the record: “Photo ID is probably the vote-integrity measure that garners the most vocal opposition. Democrats routinely oppose photo ID laws, claiming that voting is too important a right to be subject to such restrictions, and that photo ID laws impermissibly discriminate against minorities, the elderly and the homeless. In the era of COVID-19, the hypocrisy of that argument is made clear. I looked for states that have imposed photo ID requirements for COVID-19 testing and found plenty… Not only are such tests often a matter of life and death but the populations that have been disproportionately affected by the coronavirus also include minorities, the elderly and the homeless.” —Laura Hollis

Non compos mentis (verbatim): “They looting in Minnesota and as much as I don’t like this type of violence it is what it is .Too much peaceful marches, too much trending hashtags and NO SOLUTIONS! The people are left with NO CHOICE .” —rapper Cardi B

Misdirection: “All [social-media platforms] want is to not pay taxes. And they don’t want to be regulated, so they pander to the White House. You see what Facebook’s Zuckerberg is saying today about all this. He just panders.” —House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Non sequitur: “White men … can get armed up and walk into a state capitol, and that’s okay. And the police are benign. They don’t even act afraid. But let black people show up and protest the death of an innocent black man and suddenly … we gotta go full force.” —MSNBC’s Joy Reid

Village idiot: “Until we can overcome Racism in America — no one should be allowed to carry a gun. Most of all cops.” —Madonna

And last… “Why is Twitter censoring the official White House account of our government while allowing Iran’s supreme leader to tweet death notices to Jews and Israel?” —Charlie Kirk

WASHINGTON/NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump is trusted more than Democratic nominee Joe Biden to handle the economy, polls show, even with more than 40 million Americans filing jobless claims and growth stalled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Some Biden supporters fear that vulnerability could intensify if Trump becomes the face of an economic recovery as the country re-opens after shutdowns, giving the Republican president's re-election prospects a boost

The official purpose, as described by the White House Counsel's Office, was to "screw" Nixon's political enemies, by means of tax audits from the Internal Revenue Service, and by manipulating "grant availability, federal contracts, litigation, prosecution, etc."[5] In a memorandum from John Dean to Lawrence Higby (August 16, 1971), Dean explained the purpose of the list:

This memorandum addresses the matter of how we can maximize the fact of our incumbency in dealing with persons known to be active in their opposition to our Administration; stated a bit more bluntly—how we can use the available federal machinery to screw our political enemies.[5]

The IRS commissioner, Donald C. Alexander, refused to launch audits of the people on the list.

Lol. Good reason.

He went to bed thinking about it, and he woke up thinking about it. Oh my.

Obama made Nixon look like a Boy Scout. Absolutely no comparison. Obama went Nixon x 1,000. Trump will pardon him to heal the nation and get those dark days behind us. It’s the magnanimous thing to do. We always treat their POW’s better than they would ever treat us. It’s who we are and also who they aren’t.

Comparing Nixon’s capers to Obama’s sedition and illicit abuse of intelligence to spy on political opponents to overturn the results of an election via Russian disinformation? ROFLMAO. And Nixon had J Edgar Hoover and still couldn’t come close to what Obama pulled. Not by a mile.

It’s a mute point anyway. Punchy is just trying to justify voting for Biden. Good rationalization he is trying to push to pulling the Biden lever.
——
Which brings up an interesting point. Now that Amy got axed from the VP short list because of her totally bobbling the ball in the Minnesota bad cop cases (bad optics) and Kamala Harris being proven to be a Dirty Cop, who will Biden pick? He will let us know in August.

Another interesting question: Who will the Dems pick for their nominee to save them from Biden?? Gov. Cuomo looked briefly like the Dem savior from Biden, but after Cuomo bobbled the ball and killed grandma, he went from hero to zero...just like Harris.

Who is going to resue the Dems from Biden and be their nominee in 2020?

Bill Tozer

Lol. You know, Cuomo never held a job in his life. He went straight from working on his Dad’s campaign straight into politics. Not one job. ‘Declassified Flynn Transcripts Contradict Key Mueller Claims Against Flynn’

Newly released declassified transcripts of call transcripts and summaries between Flynn and Kislyak contradict key claims made against Flynn by former Special Counsel Robert Mueller

“The transcript of the December 29 conversation, which was cited by Mueller, does not include a request from Flynn that Russia “refrain from escalating” in response to U.S. expulsions of Russian diplomats. According to the transcript, Flynn asked Kislyak for Russia’s response to be “reciprocal” so that the U.S.–not Russia–would not be forced to escalate beyond the expulsions. The transcript makes clear that Flynn fully expected Russia to respond to the situation by expelling U.S. diplomats in response to the Obama administration’s move to expel nearly three dozen Russian diplomats from the U.S., and that his primary concern was preventing a situation where the U.S. would have to escalate tensions in response to Russia.

“Make it reciprocal,” Flynn reportedly said. “[D]on’t go any further than you have to. Because I don’t want us to get into something that has to escalate, on a, you know, on a tit for tat.”

“I really don’t want us to get into a situation where we’re going, you know, where we do this and then you do something bigger, and then you know, everybody’s got to go back and forth and everybody’s got to be the tough guy here, you know?” Flynn continued. “We need cool heads to prevail, and uh, we need to be very steady about what we’re going to do because we have absolutely a common uh, threat in the Middle East right now.”

“We agree,” Kislyak responded.

Later in the conversation, Flynn again used the word “escalate” in reference not to a potential Russian response, but to what he hoped the United States would not have to do in response to Russian actions.

“If you have to do something, do something on a reciprocal basis,” Flynn said. “And, and then, we know that we’re not going to escalate this thing[.]”

The media's attitude is purely adversarial, yet they act appalled that McEnany returns fire, albeit calmly, respectfully and eloquently. They uniformly dismiss this Harvard Law graduate as green and over her head, but she is remarkably polished, and it is driving them mad.

It would be different if the media were to use the briefings to help inform the viewing public. But few of them ever ask questions that could better inform the citizenry. Instead, they serve up accusations not even thinly disguised as genuine questions.

My two cents on the corruption of Obama vs Nixon. Compared to Obama, Nixon was a piker when it came to running a corrupt government. His boys couldn’t even pull off a third rate burglary, and his ‘enemies list’ was lame and sophomoric. Obama subverted numerous federal agencies to do his bidding. He didn’t even have to keep his own enemies list; his IRS and DOJ did it for him. Nixon could barely scrape up one scandal, but Obama had them running hot and cold. Like Trump, Nixon had to fight the media day and night. But the Fourth Estate was Obama’s fawning handmaiden during his entire reign – crap was consigned to under the carpet, lipstick was painted on every administration’s pig in sight. Nixon’s enemies suffered naught. Obama’s enemies suffered dearly, and continue to do so to this day.

Your mental stability is even more in question.
" unconfirmed alleged corruption by Obama " Just where the phuck you been for the past 10 years?

Walt

Loice Learner? All the people that took the 5TH in the hearings? Eric Holder and his gun running to the Mexican cartels?

Paul, not to pile on but...

You brought up popularity? Nixon won a 49-state landslide to be re-elected, Obama was re-elected more narrowly than his first win which was far from a landslide, not helped by your self-confessed failure to endorse his first term. Some reason you didn't vote for him the second time? -we've never been told.

The only corruption actually indulged in by Nixon was his ill-advised attempt to mitigate the consequences reaped by his over-zealous re-election team. Had he not foolishly shown a misplaced loyalty in them (who make up the entire list of perps you cited above), there is scarcely a hint of corruption about the Nixon administration. Agnew was his own crook.

And, for what it's worth, history judges presidents and if you do a little reading, you'll find that Nixon is almost universally judged as an effective president (who many people disliked as a person). I am personally slightly ambivalent about the guy- a bit too fond of big government for my tastes.

George Rebane

PaulE 535pm - Your defense of Obama by conviction count is similar to that claimed by mafia bosses. Simple body counts of Obama administration failures speak otherwise. And, of course, there are several more shoes to drop about the sleaze practiced by his DoJ, FBI, intelligence services, and long-lying congressional co-conspirators. BTW, I use ‘conspiracy’ in its traditionally formal definition. But I’ll give you this any day - Obama is a much better crook than Nixon ever was.

Bill Tozer

I don’t understand Paul’s real point. He stated his case and it was duly noted. Now, he wants to just argue and talk and talk about it.
Punchy has stated several times he just comes over to stir the pot. Only reason. MHe gets his jollies off getting a rise out of it. Go ahead and fall for it. I already told Punchy to go fornicate himself awhile back and I, for one, need not repeat myself.

Goalposts moved, per normal. What else is there to say? His AG was the only AG in the history of the US to be held in contempt of Congress. Nobody paid a price for the IRS scandal going after the Tea Party, Fast and Furious, the Iran deal that was so bad Obama refused to have the Senate see it or confirm it....ah hell...waste of time. Obama is neck deep in the biggest political scandal in at least In a century.....and history will be written when all is said and done. Historians will be writing about Obamagate for the next 20, 30 years.

I don’t know what planet you are living on. There are at least 18 major scandals the president presided over: (1) The IRS scandal — selective targeting of conservative groups. (2) Benghazi scandal — cover up. (3) Bowe Bergdahl scandal — traded five Gitmo terrorists for an Army deserter. (4) Iran deal ransom payments. (5) Veterans Affairs death list scandal. (6) Solyndra scandal — $500 million lent to a failed solar company. I could list a dozen more Obama scandals, but it would require too much space....just to cover “the most scandal free administration in US history,” ROFLMAO.

And nobody went to jail and nobody faced the music for their actions. That’s why there was no reason for Obama to stop doing what he was doing. Ok, his buddy who sold Obama his house for an offer you can’t refuse did go to jail, but that don’t count. Being best buddies with Weather Underground domestic terrorist Bill Ayers don’t count either.

We just got to wait and see for it all to play out.. The only way to clean up the political corruption at the FBI, DOJ, CIA, NSA, is for someone to be brought to justice and held accountable for his actions. Obviously Bill Barr does not trust the FBI or Justice Department he took over as evidenced by all the outside of Washington Federal prosecutors with impeccable and unassailable records Barr is using to get the stank out of the Washington swamp.

Walt

Oh, Yes.. The convictions of "O"'s boys is still in the works.
Miss the news on that Emery? Or have your head buried in a sand pile? (probably somewhere else where the sun never shines)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/barr-appoints-texas-prosecutor-to-review-obama-officials-unmasking-requests/2020/05/27/c32c6ddc-a089-11ea-9590-1858a893bd59_story.html
"Attorney General William P. Barr has appointed a U.S. attorney in Texas to scrutinize Obama-era officials who sought to identify anonymized names in government documents that turned out to be people connected to then-President-elect Trump, a Justice Department official said Wednesday."

The investigation of Flynn has been deemed a CRIME Emery.
Just think of all the other "higher ups" the used the secret courts to go after Trump.
Yes, you sure need to PRAY(to some unknown higher power you don't believe in) Trump loses the election It's the ONLY way
to end the investigations.. If that happens the people will know just how corrupt the Proggys really are.
You know how they howled about Trump wanting to end the witch hunt.

Paul Emery

George

Come on man -thought you'd get a kick out of that-how can you make a comparison between the two. You have a whole list of wanna be indictments and no convictions against Obama and his team but where's the beef? Where are the arrests, where are the indictments??? If Obama is that bad why can't Trump and his team bust him. That is proof enough on their impotence and incompetance. They control the supremes as well.

I mean Trump has controlled the DOJ for almost four years and nothing.

Now let's compare Agnew, the falln Greek, and Biden

Walt

Flail EMERY ,, FLAIL!! You realize just how stupid you look?
But keep going. You my be shown the door at KVMR sooner than later. There is only so much an employer can stomach. Especially a biased new fool.

Don Bessee

What a maroon @640 - You guys had been playing impeachment for 3 plus years and it was a dud, now the protagonists have or are losing their jobs and now there is an unmasking investigation based in the western district of TX. Durham's hyperspeed grand jury that has not leaked ANYTHING! How refreshing.

Can you name the fired and resigned (like the fbi chief counsel yesterday) and predict how many will see indictments? You sure thought you had a crystal ball on all the people who you said would flip on Trump or that Trump would never take the oath or quit next week and next week and next ad nauseum. No senile free passes for you!

Just to be clear NO ONE has any expectation that you can sustain an actual fact based conversation. It must be terrible to be a slave to the talking points for lefties. A brain even a TDS ridden one is a terrible thing to waste! LOL

Cue the change of topic from the pony tail of ignorance.

Its nice to be consistent just not consistently wrong. LOL!

“The WH [White House] wants to know everything we are doing.” —Top FBI Counterintelligence Agent Peter Paul Strzok II.

“The White House is running this”.—— Peter Paul Strzok II

Opps, forgot the one where Obama sent his goons to ease drop (spy) on 20 AP reporters, tapped a Fox News Journalist (and his parents phone and e-mail’, tapped DiFi’s cell phone!, and threatened 4-5 members of the Senate Committee staff with jail if they told anybody when they found out that Brennan’s goons put keylogger software on their laptops to monitor who was opposed to Obama’s Iran deal...not to mention Comey, Clapper, and Brennan lying to Congress. Clapper won’t be charged for lying to Congress because the statue of limitations has run out.
But, that pales in comparison to Obamagate and Russiagate.
—————-
Convictions? McCabe has been caught lying to the FBI four times, three under oath. Not charged. That’s a heck of a lot more times than they hung Scooter Libby out to dry on...and Libby was caught in a process crime that did not obstruct, hinder, nor interfered with the investigation.

I have waited this long....I can wait a few more weeks for the hammer to drop on a bunch of them simultaneously. Convictions? Convictions or not, the truth will get out this summer.

Walt

Bill.... Emery says that didn't happen.
Right Emery? Please confirm that.

Paul emery

Don

What is not fact based about this:

legacy.

Here's a partial list of Nixon cronies and cabinet members. Remember Agnew was guilty of taking CASH payments in a bag for bribery while in his White House desk. No comparison George

Walt

Emery. You still have NOT provided PROOF of your claim of violence from Right protest groups. I call bullshit.

Keep defending the traitor "O".

Don Bessee

Just as predicted, no conversation just the party parrots approved talking points.

Never answer any questions especially when cornered and in the spot light, right?

;-)

Paul Emery

Never claimed that Walt. show me where I did. All I said was there were large numbers of white people protesting and it was not like Watts. Correct me if I'm wrong with documentation.

Unbelievable hat I got you to defend Nixon as an honest leader. Cracks me up.

Walt

Yes you did Emery, just two days ago.
Nope, not playing your "go look for it" game.
Your little spat with George. I called you on it, and you send in your crickets.
You got busted spewing crap, because there have been no "violent protests from the Right".
That's the game you play. Say something, and ignore the confrontation, and deni ever saying it, in true Paul Emery style.

Keith

Ok, Emery...

Lied to the American public on television, "I did not have sex with that woman...Ms. Lewinsky."

Perjury inquiry results in Clinton being disbarred.

Had the chance to nail Osama bin Laden and failed to pull the trigger. In your thinking, that would make Clinton responsible for all the deaths relating from the 9/11 attacks. Clinton had eight years vs. 9 months for Bush before it happened so no bullshit on it being Bush's fault.

Carter oversaw massive inflation and skyrocketing interest rates.

Carter stood around and allowed American citizens to be held captive for over a year. Tried an extraction and messed that up, too, resulting in military lives lost.

Johnson and Kennedy, one word...Vietnam.

Kennedy left the Cubans out to dry re: Bay of Pigs.

Truman...dropped two big ones killing innocent Japanese civilians. That's got to mean something to an old peacenik like you, Emery.

Roosevelt fumbled along with the Great Depression for eight years until a war came along to give everyone a job. And there are questions and theories that he let Pearl Harbor occur to get that war going.

Wilson got us in a war that we had no reason to be in. And then tried to get us into the predecessor of UN and we all know how well that has worked out.

Do you realize that war in the 20th Century began with a Democratic President in office...WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietman??

Bill Tozer

You might think he was speaking directly to the pony tail of ignorance -

“What we saw was a total corruption that before, during and after this transition. It's incredibly serious,” Johnson said. “What we know is corrupt investigations, the misuse of defensive briefings, all the media leaks, and, of course, the Obama administration holdovers.
