Upon reading the 2nd link above, I have nothing to add, just repeat some things that jumped off the page.

1) And the Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that routinely likens conservatives to racists and fascists, has elected not to include Antifa in its list of “hate groups.” SPLC president Richard Cohen explains that while “we oppose these groups and what they’re trying to do” by censoring speech and provoking “other forms of retaliation,” Antifa does not qualify for designation as a “hate group” because its adherents do not discriminate against people on the basis of race, sexual orientation, religion, or other variables protected by anti-discrimination laws. In short, said Cohen, Antifa’s brand of hate is “not the type of hate we follow.”

2) ”....an August 2017 interview with podcaster Stefan Molyneux, a former Antifa activist-turned-conservative said that drug addiction is “extremely common” among anarchists, and that those anarchists “who aren’t addicted to drugs or to alcohol, are very often addicted to rage” and “violence.” “The rush that you get from that kind of hatred, that you direct at everyone else in society, it feels like a drug, and it feels like addiction,” he explained. “It’s a rush of power. The regular rules don’t apply to you, because you’re above them, better than them. You steal to survive, and you think that makes you better.” He took pains to emphasize “what an absolutely vicious, toxic, abusive, hate culture the radical left is.”

3). “ Antifa members usually launch attacks against people who are not doing anything violent, but who are merely speaking, or trying to speak. As longtime anti-fascist activist Scott Crow explains, Antifa views conservative speech itself as an act of violence that must be countered with physical violence. Whether such an approach is justified, says Crow, “that’s for history to decide.”

4 and 5). Antifa’s uncompromising hatred for police officers is embodied in Michael Isaacson, co-founder of the Washington-based Antifa group called Smash Racism DC. While serving as an adjunct professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a certified New York City Police Academy, Isaacson made headlines when he tweeted in August 2017: “Some of y’all might think it sucks being an anti-fascist teaching at John Jay College but I think it’s a privilege to teach future dead cops.” On other occasions, Isaacson has claimed that neo-Nazis have infiltrated police departments in the U.S. and thus “have them kind of on their side.”

Antifa activists direct their violence not only at people whom they characterize as “fascists” and “white supremacists,” but also at material property. In the aforementioned August 2017 interview with podcaster Stefan Molyneux, an Antifa activist-turned-conservative said that the notion that “property is theft” is widely embraced by American anarchists. Because they view property as a symbol of materialism and unfair wealth distribution, they typically consider its destruction to be a noble act. According to the Green Mountain Anarchist Collective’s “Black Bloc Papers,” “private property—and capitalism, by extension—is intrinsically violent and repressive and cannot be reformed or mitigated.” Lamenting “all the violence committed in the name of private property rights,” this document charges that “corporate private property” in particular “is itself infinitely more violent than any action taken against it.” By this logic, the destruction of a storefront window can be redefined and justified as the laudable creation of “a vent to let some fresh air into the oppressive atmosphere of a retail outlet.”

And on and on it goes. Nothing I haven’t heard since my brief association of the YIppies (Youth International Party) in the early70’s or on campuses in the later sixties. Sit around the campfire and plan how to take out the rich dude in the big house on the hill and take his stuff. Then, justify it all by saying your are a modern day Robin Hood and distribute the stolen goods to the poor folk, the needy, the downtrodden or how you will use the loot to improve society,....when in reality they just wanted another’s wealth to keep for themselves without earning or working for it

Man, all that smooth talking lofty ideals to mask pure unadulterated greed, envy and sloth. They can justify and rationalize away all the deadly sins. It’s for the common good, lol.

FINALLY my thoughts on Antifa.

This is not a revolution or mass movement we are witnessing. This is a rewatching of A Clockwork Orange we are viewing. Cuddle them and blame ourselves for their violence.

"In a separate tweet a short time later, Logan wrote: “Also what I remember from that mob in Egypt – it only took a few trained, paid instigators to turn a celebratory crowd into a frenzy. This is what Antifa does best – they provoke to get the reaction that serves their political agenda. Not for racial justice – that’s a front.”

And then there are the good patriots like the CA militia and the Three Percenters who, of course, aren't terrorists. Heavily armed morons have shown up in military style uniforms to "guard" businesses. In Oakdale such idiots showed up and their arrival drew criticism from local law enforcement, with both the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office and the Oakdale Police Department saying that the militia presence caused problems. According to Stanislaus County Sheriff Jeff Dirkse, “This ‘militia’ has no official standing, no authority and their presence was counterproductive to keeping the peace in the City of Oakdale. Their activities were a drain on law enforcement resources and did nothing to protect the city,”

Shasta County Sheriff Eric Magrini said, “In no way, shape or form ever would I embrace any kind of vigilante group, do any call to arms to ... deputize somebody or call someone in."

Why haven't some of you shown up yet in your soldier' getups and assault rifles to protect business from the women, children and old men that protest in Grass Valley? It only seems fitting.

And here I thought paramilitary groups that roamed the streets only happened in banana republics... oh yeah under trump we actually live in one.

fish: "Jesuits.......?"

There certainly are episodes in Mob America you can draw from Catholicism. Our current crop of Kneelers sounds more than a little like Flagellants roaming around Europe during the Black Death. You got yer peculiar combination of self-hate combined with a kind of religious ecstasy they exhibit. Chants, in-group symbolism, we're even starting to see holy icons like the Golden Coffin. This last should have been toted around the country in a funeral train ala Lincoln.

No doubt the pressure from our own pandemic has more than a little to do with this. It's a lot less extreme than bubonic plague, but then people are more mentally fragile than in prior centuries.

I think that Antifa and it's ideological relatives are more similar to the people (often later declared saints) who burned libraries, destroyed temples and statues, and forced religious conversion in the early days of the Christian church. It set everybody back a thousand or so years, but it was for The People doncha know.

To be fair, the Left's interest in the destruction of traditional culture doesn't require a church. Both Marxists and Nazis rhyme with modern mass movements in terms of technique, so I suppose it's baked into the cake of large-scale human groups. At least Italian Fascists were mostly off the hook in terms of civilization destruction and the Russians have shown that the damage doesn't have to be permanent.

George Rebane

"... Russians have shown that the damage doesn't have to be permanent." Given the resurgence of corrupt autocracy cum tyranny under Putin, the permanence of Russian governance is yet to be determined. Since its birth in the 15th century, Russia has never embodied a society that recognizes or rewards win-win social behaviors. And we may put China since Middle Kingdom days into the same boat. 'Win-Lose' completely explains away their choices of governance and conduct of their societies.

"Given the resurgence of corrupt autocracy cum tyranny under Putin, the permanence of Russian governance is yet to be determined."

As they simply rolled back to a pre-1917 model, including large-scale traditional religion, I'd say that it's a fairly permanent state of affairs thus far. I'd say that in general, Russians are more nationalistic than US citizens, but that doesn't necessarily prevent internal power struggles. In any case, in the long run, I don't think that the Marxist-Leninist utopia will have made much of a mark on the place.

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure that Russia could survive without quasi-monarchy. The upcoming problem (as usual) is going to be succession, which I think is democracy's strong point. Even the Roman Empire struggled with that one, regardless of different efforts in appointing the next head of state via adoption or having multiple heads of state.

George Rebane

Dr Rebane, I just love this quote. Good find, sir.

“Today’s perversity of the Left includes the observation by Scott Walker of the Capital Research Center that “Radical mobs on campuses call speech they don’t like ‘violence,’ ” while “Radical mobs in the streets call their violence ‘speech.’ Either way, instead of highlighting the difference between peaceful protesters and rioters, they want to erase it.”

Speech is violence and real violence is now speech. Oh my. Soon, things may get back to normal and moi will be posting the insanity on our campuses in the Sandbox. But, until that day.....‘Here we go Bruins, here we go!’ (My condolences, good doc)

I'd heard of the accounting professor, but not the other guy.

"Another UCLA professor, political science lecturer W. Ajax Peris, is receiving calls for his resignation because he read aloud MLK’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” which included the n-word. As The Federalist reported, students “hearing a white lecturer read the n-word from a letter written by a jailed civil rights leader and watching lynching imagery made them feel so ‘uncomfortable,’ they asked Peris to stop.” He apologized for causing “discomfort,” but continued teaching. UCLA’s Political Science Department condemned Peris for failing to “meet the students’ needs” and referred him for a discrimination investigation."

It's a bummer that none of our local Blue Mob spend more than a second on any topic besides TrumpTrumpTrump and something he said (as opposed to a policy that actually came from the White House). It would do my heart good to watch these guys justify the literally thousands of crazy doings the Left churns up anymore. TDS is a real thing and I can't help but wonder what the long term health costs are.

I agree with you on the Libertarian/Independent (or simply don't care) tendencies in days of yore, especially in the departments teaching valuable skills. About the only excitement back in my years o' school was the occasional appearance of fundamentalist preachers on campus.

The socialist mayor of Chicago get torched by the aldermen for letting their districts go under the antifa torch! -

According to a tape obtained by WTTW News of an online conference call among the city’s 50 aldermen and the mayor, one alderman could be heard weeping while others angrily decried what was going on in the city.

“My ward is a s--t show,” one alderman says. “They are shooting at the police.”

One alderman asked how seniors and vulnerable populations were supposed to get medicine and food if “every CVS, every Walgreens is shutting down.”

“How do businesses recover and why would they want to recover in our community?” another is heard asking.

On the call, others took aim at Lightfoot herself for her response to the crisis. One man, identified by WTTW News as Ald. Raymond Lopez, demanded that Lightfoot develop a plan to stabilize Chicago’s neighborhoods for five days, calling his Southwest Side ward “a virtual war zone” where armed gang members were threatening to shoot black people.

When he demanded she respond to the remarks, Lightfoot told him he was “100 percent full of s--t.”
“Well, f--k you then,” Lopez responded.

I'm not denying there are riots and looting etc. I just don't see any evidence as to who to attribute it to.

There are some groups that just like to fuck things up and are not necessarily aligned with the groups that are organizing the demonstrations. Until that is established with arrests and convictions it is wrong especially for our so called President of the United States to accuse an individual for being an accessory to rioting and looting.

Trump tweeted that:

“the Buffalo protester shoved by Police could be an ANTIFA provocateur. 75 year old Martin Gugino was pushed away after appearing to scan police communications in order to black out the equipment. @OANN I watched, he fell harder than was pushed. Was aiming scanner. Could be a set up?”

I was speaking poetically Don. Sorry you didn't get. It was the fires of fear and anger when black folk are reminded of their history. It was only a hundred years ago. Can you point to a situation where a white town of 300 was burned to the ground by an angry black mob?

Do you really think a white man would have been strangled by police in Minneapolis like George Floyd was? what was he accused of? passing a counterfeit $20 bill that was spotted by a clerk in a routine check at a market Do you think she would have called the cops if Floyd was a white guy?

Note to the new red guard Delroy Murdoc is black -

The looting and riots that roared out of the George Floyd protests were surprising. The left’s celebration of this violence is shocking.

What follows are not the reckless rants of basement-dwelling, boxer-short-clad, baby Bolsheviks. Rather these are the words and actions of elected and appointed Democratic officials, top activists, and their comrades in the liberal establishment media.

These leading leftists encouraged, enabled and empowered people who decided to riot after they saw four Minneapolis cops go low as one officer knelt on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes and killed him on Memorial Day, while the other cops did nothing to stop the killing. All four now-fired officers face charges of second-degree murder or aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

HUNDREDS MOURN DAVID DORN, RETIRED ST. LOUIS POLICE CAPTAIN KILLED IN LOOTING

“A once in a lifetime opportunity,” is how Democratic Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey described the subsequent rioting. “Yes, America is burning, but that’s how forests grow.”

Northern Idaho gets all the bad press on militias and survivalists, but it stretches all the way into the Washington back country. When I was stealing...I mean, repatriating vehicles for the banks, we had a few jobs around Okanogan and Omak. It was common courtesy to stop at the local cop shop to let them know we were professional thieves.' not just the usual scum.
On one such trip we talked to the officer on night shift about the gun crazies out in the woods.
"Yeah, you hear gunfire up there all the time. We leave them alone unless they come into town and get drunk. We take their guns and let them sleep it off.In the morning they're gone."
We did tend to be nervous after that, but we drove in, grabbed a pick up and scooted back to Yakima. The guy never woke up.

"Do you really think a white man would have been strangled by police in Minneapolis like George Floyd was?"

A 6'6" heavily muscled white prison rat resisting arrest? Are you claiming carotid holds aren't used as attitude adjustments for big white assholes?

"what was he accused of? passing a counterfeit $20 bill that was spotted by a clerk in a routine check at a market Do you think she would have called the cops if Floyd was a white guy?"

Damn straight they would.

Bill Tozer

Slap Happy, “Do you think she would have called the cops if Floyd was a white guy?“

Who knows. Everytime a counterfeit bill is passed in this neck of the woods it makes the local Police Blotter. Yes, the clerk called and describes a man disoriented (loaded), dropping things from his pocket, who just a passed fake bill(s). That is not why George died. Like the Freddie Grey (?) case where the fat man died for selling individual cigs and CD’s in front of a store. The store called 911 (again) on him. What, blame the store clerk? The police get a call in Minneapolis. What, you want the police not to respond when someone calls 911? Don’t work that way. Blame the caller? Come on Slappy, blame the caller or say she is a racist? Get a grip on yourself.

Bottomline: Nobody here or anywhere I have seen, heard, or read (again, nobody anywhere) has defended that cop’s actions. It’s a non-issue. It happened. The cop will go to trial under murder charges. Right now, the prosecution thinks he will get a conviction on 2nd Degree murder. 1st degree murder might be a bar too high. Either way, they ain’t going to ever let him out. And everyone assumes George was killed because and only because he was black. It you got a bad cop, don’t matter what skin color the deceased is or was. Gotta wait to see what comes out in trial.

What I don’t buy is this BS mantra I hear that black mothers across the land are afraid that their kids will be shot by the police walking home from school. That simply does not happen. I call bullshit. Oh, black mothers are afraid from their kids safety in walking home from school in crime infested neighborhoods and communities for sure, but it is out of fear of gangs, dope dealers, and fucked up in the head people, not the police.

What happened to George Whatzername is a rare occurrence. According to the Wa Post, 18 times a year (last two years average, 19 and 17). We do not know the circumstances, just the totals. Of that 18, ten were black. Of that ten, 9 were male. So, of the thousands upon thousands of police interactions with their communities, an unarmed black male was killed 9 times. Get that number down to 5, and it becomes statistically insignificant. And the chances of a cop being killed on duty is 18 fold the number of police on citizen deaths.

Black mothers afraid their children will get shot by police walking to school? Yes, fear is an evil and horrible thread. So is envy. Worse that stealing.

Oh, I believe strongly Antifa is real. Project Veritas tapes are pretty good, but I have only seen one. I did not post this before because Dr. Rebane covered it in his post on the subject quite well.

Oh, Emery! 7:14 - Thanks for displaying your profound ignorance.
As in: Paul Emery is simply ignorant.
Numero uno - "Do you think she would have called the cops if Floyd was a white guy?"
Oh no, Paul - white folk can pass bogus bills at their leisure and no one would ever think of calling the cops.
Say - why don't you try it some time, Paul? You would be quickly disabused of your position.
Numero two-o - "Do you really think a white man would have been strangled by police in Minneapolis like George Floyd was?" By THAT cop? Hard to tell. Sometimes cops just blow innocent white folks' brains out. Sometimes the white suspect is just "found unresponsive".
The problem is rooting out bad cops and holding them responsible for their misdeeds.
The cops were fired instantly. The cop that killed Floyd was charged as soon as the autopsy was complete. More charges are pending. There will be accountability. There is nothing to protest. Nothing. If you want to go back a hundred years and start bitching, there is one hell of a lot more than just one town and 300 people to account for.
Not that Paul Emery would know.
The folks rioting and burning and looting are criminals. They have no complaint.
None.
You soy-boys can bow to the thugs, but don't expect the rest of the country to.
I would suggest that everybody better just calm down and get back to their normal business. Pushing this further will result in something you leftys will be damned sorry to see.

At this point in time, Antifa and BLM are a distinction without a difference. Seattle:

“For the past week, Black Lives Matter and Antifa-affiliated activists have engaged in a pitched battle with Seattle police officers and National Guard soldiers in the neighborhood, with the heaviest conflict occurring at the intersection of 11th and Pike, where law enforcement had constructed a barricade to defend the Seattle Police East Precinct building. Hoping to break through the barricade, protesters attacked officers with bricks, bottles, rocks, and improvised explosive devices, sending some officers to the hospital. At the same time, activists circulated videos of the conflict and accused the police of brutality, demanding that the city cease using teargas and other anti-riot techniques.

Then, in a stunning turn of events, the City of Seattle made the decision to abandon the East Precinct and surrender the neighborhood to the protesters. “This is an exercise in trust and de-escalation,” explained Chief Carmen Best. Officers and National Guardsmen emptied out the facility, boarded it up, and retreated. Immediately afterward, Black Lives Matter protesters, Antifa black shirts, and armed members of the hard-Left John Brown Gun Club seized control of the neighborhood, moved the barricades into a defensive position, and declared it the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone—even putting up a cardboard sign at the barricades declaring “you are now leaving the USA.”....

“The city government has not developed a strategic response to the takeover of Capitol Hill. According to one Seattle police officer with knowledge of internal deliberations, the city’s “leadership is in chaos” and “the mayor has made the decision to let a mob of 1,000 people dictate public safety policy for a city of 750,000.” The officer said that Chief Best had dispatched high-ranking police officials to the autonomous zone to establish a line of communication, but the officials were immediately sent away by armed paramilitaries at the barricades. “The tide of public opinion is on the side of the activists and they’re pushing the envelope as far as they can,” said the officer. “It’s not hyperbolic to say the endgame is anarchy.”

Well, Greg, while we're rubbing noses, the so-called president is doing his best to convince the world he is the most blatant stereotypical bigot who ever occupied the White House, and that's really saying something. Scheduling his rally on Juneteenth in Tulsa is about as in-your-face racist as you can get without donning a pointy white hat.
At least it's a distraction from his latest conspiracy theory that the old guy in Buffalo was a set up and faked to make him look bad.
Even a mad dog general knows rabies when he sees it.
You'd think he might be able to find the high ground considering how the left has descended into a psychotic mob, ready to dismantle capitalism and storm the Bastille.
But no, he'll either end up headless like Louis, or fight his way out of Washington behind his palace guards to set up a government in exile in Brazil or Turkey.
I don't know about you knuckleheads, but I'm signing up with Elon Musk for a seat on the starship to Mars. It's the only sane thing to do.

RL, you do realize it’s a one way ticket, don’t you?. Of course you do. If you have that kind of money to blow for a ticket to Mars, then AB5 should be a non issue to you, Mr. Moneybags. Then again, Mars may not accept entry to the likes of you. Besides, did you know the surface of Mars is heating up? It’s due to all the plastic straws that us knuckleheads load up and drive by the truckload to the Bay Area (or Fort Bragg) and toss in the ocean.

I'm not disputing the election, just the bizarre behavior that followed it. In any rational world he would have carted off to the funny farm months ago. I've always believed Republicans would go off the deep end at some point, but I thought they'd go for someone less threatening, like Larry the Cable Guy.
Still, reality being what it is, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Trump gets reelected. The Democrats have a bad habit of alienating voters just at the wrong time.
