This was actually a darned good interview.

Bret Weinstein and John McWhorter: George Floyd Protests and Race in America

It was a real pleasure to listen to liberals who speak well, it's a crying shame we don't see that here.

Bill Tozer

The interesting thing about this article is that it is written by two “progressives” entirely in sympathy with the leftist view of racial matters, but amusingly they note that there aren’t serious conversations about race because white progressive shut down minority voices. That’s not quite how they put it, but it is easy to read between the lines here:

“Our research, personal stories, and the experiences of many others don’t offer much cause for optimism. Why? When people of color give voice to the discrimination they experience, they are often silenced by their white colleagues, many of whom purport to be liberal progressives. And although there is a perception that academia is a safe haven for these kinds of honest conversations, it is often the opposite. Until this changes in education and beyond, it’s our view that we will be unable to reach racial equity in white institutional spaces. [Emphasis added.]“

a bit more on one of the 'choke points', reddit. Along with youtube and twitch, they just booted off a whole ton of groups because of wrongthink.

This is part of their new terms of service:

"While the rule on hate protects such groups, it does not protect all groups or all forms of identity. For example, the rule does not protect groups of people who are in the majority..."

George Rebane

PaulE 902pm - Comfort level decreasing.

"Comfort level decreasing"

Absodamnlutely. Blueification was a rather natural side effect of the downfall of blue collar work and useful white collar work, to be replaced with restaurants, gift shops selling Chinese-made goods, government and 'non-profit' jobs, but the real problem is that the definition of Blue changed at the same time.

Democrats used to have a common glue of being pro-working class. That's been replaced with a combination of US oligarchy (most notably Wall Street and the internet monopolies) and underemployed + 'knowledge' workers who actually feel, in their bones, this intersectional nonsense. The Clinton era ushered in the sell-out of regular people by the Left.

I'm afraid that Paul, like most old-school Dems (although I doubt he has any working-class bonafides) really can't sense the danger in the air. It's really not about a President with unremarkable policies and vulgar public ways vs. a potential President with Alzheimer's, that's the kind of pro-wrestling thinking you accumulate sitting snug watching Fox and CNN.

Bill Tozer

Cultural cohesion, it’s a’coming.

“My point is that finally the Left has also accepted and declared its mandate for a culturally cohesive society that will be conformed for the common good.” —Dr. Rebane

I had to scratch my head when a recent BLM march through what looked like Beverly Hills/West Hollywood was chanting only one thing: “End Capitalism NOW.” “End Capitalism. When to we want it? NOW.” Guess that’s better than marching in DC, chanting, “What to we want? Dead Cops! When do we want it? Now! Pigs in a blanket, fry ‘em like bacon.” After that DC March, Obama invited them to the WH.
I knew it, I just knew it. Attacking Mt. Rushmore is not a joke.

‘Democrats: Independence Day Celebrations Glorify White Supremacy’

“In a post that was hastily deleted Monday night, the Democratic National Committee announced that President Trump’s plan to celebrate the Fourth of July was “glorifying white supremacy.” No explanation was given as to how celebrating the nation’s independence from the British Empire could be considered racist.”....

“When some of us say it's only a matter of time before the woke mob calls for dynamiting Mount Rushmore, we're not just being dramatic. In the poll below, 44% of "liberals" and 58% of "very liberals" already want to blow up the mountain, among other things.”

Hmm. Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, and Teddy R were all white supremacists. Well, I don’t know if Roosevelt was a closet Skinhead just crying to get out, but blow them up away.
Not surprisingly, the Dem Party pulled the tweet. They do not want the cat out of the bag just yet. Must have been some Right Winger conspiracy theory.
Here they go again going after the hideous white women. And we were told that Hillary had the women vote all sewn up.

‘Washington Post Editor Karen Attiah Calls For ‘Revenge’ Against ‘White Women’
The Global Opinions Editor's comments have since been slammed as "racist" and "violent."

‘The Global Opinions Editor for the Washington Post suggested that “white women are lucky that we are just calling them ‘Karen’s’. And not calling for revenge,” in a now-deleted tweet on Sunday. The editor — whose name is Karen Attiah — never clarified what kind of “revenge” she was encouraging.

She also blamed the “lies and tears” of white women for everything from a 1921 race massacre in Tulsa, Oklahoma to voting for President Trump, in screenshots of her tweets posted by the Washington Examiner’s Jerry Dunleavy”

Yep, I can feel the love and cultural cohesion from here.

Paul Emery: 9:02PM June 29, Year Zero:

Just for Paul's sake as posted outside of his typical Trump OCD for once...

Here's a DNC post:

So Paul, is an Independence Day fireworks show 'white supremacy'? Should we tear down the Mt. Rushmore statues. Yes or No???

‘Woke censorship is basically a superstitious cult’

“Our society isn't progressing, but falling back into a superstition that everyone must believe or pretend to believe for the supposed welfare of the community.”

re: BillT@8:10AM June 30, Year Zero.

‘Woke censorship is basically a superstitious cult’

A thing that really struck home with me was in one of those Bret Weinstein podcasts/videocasts.

A point that Heather Heying really pounds home on is that you can't defeat a narrative with facts. Stories, false or not, are so baked into the cake of humanity that simply bringing up a statistic or any other measurable item means little. Witness GeorgeR's fruitless attempts at bringing some rigor to epidemiology arguments. Result from the local Blue Mob?: muh Trump made all them people sick.

It's outside of my pay grade, but it's worth looking at how successful (if there is such a thing) cult deprogramming actually works. Simply making a fact-based argument is likely a waste of time.

Bill Tozer

Daily Quotes go here today.

Insight: “What shall be done with the four million slaves if they are emancipated? … Our answer is, do nothing with them; mind your business, and let them mind theirs. Your doing with them is their greatest misfortune. They have been undone by your doings, and all they now ask, and really have need of at your hands, is just to let them alone. They suffer by every interference, and succeed best by being let alone.” —Frederick Douglass (1818-1895)

Observations: “It is not enough that Americans have Constitutional rights to free speech. We can’t live with each other unless we have a culture of rights, in which we respect each other’s rights to say things we don’t like. That’s disappearing incredibly fast, which is spectacularly dangerous.” —Ben Shapiro

For the record: “Your lack of leadership on this important issue continues to fail the people you have sworn to protect…. More Americans have been killed in Chicago than in combat zones of Afghanistan and Iraq combined since September 11, 2001, a deadly trend that has continued under your tenure.” —Donald Trump in a letter to Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot

Belly laugh of the week: “Barack Obama was looking forward to retirement away from the grind of politics and campaigning. But slowly, reluctantly, he is being drawn back.” —The New York Times

Race bait: “Trump has disrespected Native communities time and again. He’s attempted to limit their voting rights and blocked critical pandemic relief. Now he’s holding a rally glorifying white supremacy at Mount Rushmore — a region once sacred to tribal communities.” —Democratic National Committee

The BIG Lie: “[The Russia/Taliban bounty allegation] is a scandal. I mean, [Republicans] wanted to make a big deal about Benghazi? This makes Benghazi look like playing with toys. This is a big deal, and they are not treating it like it’s a big deal.” —former Senator Claire McCaskill

Non compos mentis: “While we await details of this tragic killing, it highlights capitalism’s brutality & endemic violence. Our movement rejects insinuations & falsehoods perpetuated by corporate & conservative media that this violence is outcome of CHOP or of our movement.” —Seattle councilwoman Kshama Sawant on the news that another person was murdered in that city’s “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest”

And last… “The Left is now at the point of getting sincerely offended if you don’t just lay down obediently and let them assault you and burn your house down.” —Matt Walsh

George Rebane

scenes 925am - " successful (if there is such a thing) cult deprogramming actually works." My experience observing cult operations and members of cults doesn't speak well for cult deprogramming. I have hired and worked with bright people who belonged to cults, have participated in what may be termed a 'cult event', and as an undergraduate even belonged to an organization that many (Christian) people identify as a cult - Paramhansa Yogananda's Self-Realization Fellowship (an offshoot of which is located here on Tyler Foote Rd). Without going into these interesting and intriguing adventures, I recall that attempts at deprogramming (of various kinds) did not work, and a couple of times promoted a more intense relationship with the 'cult'. The only surefire thing that did lead to severed relationships was instigated from within the cult itself - primarily when the cult no longer served to satisfy (including a case of exposed corruption), and one time when the cult disintegrated when its 'philosophical glue' no longer held. Third party deprogramming efforts, without a push out from the cult itself, have not been successful in my experience.

re: GeorgeR@10:36 "doesn't speak well for cult deprogramming"

That's always been my impression.

If facts, plainly presented, don't work...pointing out contradictions and fallacy doesn't work..discrediting doesn't work, it looks to me like you are left with mitigation. A nation wanting to stay intact, or an individual keeping hearth and home together, should simply view the Blue Mob as a natural disaster. There's no arguing with a forest fire.

In the end it become all about power intelligently applied, not persuasion.

At least Paul Krugman has a final solution for his political enemies.

It's hard to get more clear than my video @11:15

In other news, the Blue Mob just keeps on mobbin'

Rifle-totin' St. Louis Homeowner speaks:

"“Somebody forced the gate, and I stood up and announced that this is private property. Go back. I can’t remember in detail anymore. I went inside, I got a rifle. And when they … because as soon as I said this is private property, those words enraged the crowd,” he said.

McClosky said one of the militants pulled out a loaded pistol magazine and clicked them together and said ‘you’re next.’

“We were threatened with our lives, threatened with a house being burned down, my office building being burned down, even our dog’s life being threatened. It was, it was about as bad as it can get,” McCloskey said.

McCloskey believes that the only thing that stopped the crowd from approaching his home was his rifle."

If nothing else, it’s good to see people out there defending theIr statues and homes and businesses in their neck of the woods. Even the golf cart wars games have begun. Nice to see people say to the Blue Devils, “Cramp it, clown”, a big Bozo no-no.

Is it just me or did anyone else notice that most of the ones with brass balls standing toe to toe against the street mobs and white punks are the women folk? Some cherished quotes from a little pushback from recent memory:
“You are phonies! You are the racists, you are punks, everyone of you. Why did you do this in my neighborhood? Why didn’t you do this in your neighborhood? Why don‘t you burn down your businesses? Because you’re a bunch hypocrites and racists, that’s why.“
“You call this justice? Justice for George Floyd? How is doing THIS to this to the store where I shop is justice for George Floyd? This is not justice to trash our neighborhood. Now where am I going to get my groceries and diapers? You call this justice? You’re the ones that said ‘No justice, no peace.’ Ha, back on you!”

Yep there are some real backbone our there, standing against the odds, not afraid to speak their minds one bit. If they were once reluctant to say what needs to be said, they ain’t now. No siree.

Diamonds and Silk are not an anomaly. When Mama ain’t happy, ain’t no one is happy.

An op-ed by General Michael Flynn. No wonder Obama and his Administration hated him so. Disagreeing on policy is one thing. Disagreeing on ideology is the kiss of death in Obama’s eyes.

‘Exclusive from Gen. Flynn: If We Don't Act, 2% of the People Are About To Control the Other 98%‘

“I believe the attacks being presented to us today are part of a well-orchestrated and well-funded effort that uses racism as its sword to aggravate our battlefield dispositions. This weapon is used to leverage and legitimize violence and crime, not to seek or serve the truth.

The dark forces’ weapons formed against us serve one purpose: to promote radical social change through power and control. Socialism and the creation of a socialist society are their ultimate goals.“....

“We must not allow a small percentage of the powerful to overtake our position on America’s battlefield. We, as free-thinking and acting individuals, must control how we will live and not allow a few passionate others to change our way of life.

To the silent and currently indifferent majority: Wake up. America is at risk of being lost in the dustbin of history to socialism. The very heart and soul of America is at stake.

In war, as in life, most failure comes from inaction. We face a pivotal moment that can change the course of history of our nation.”

Yet another good discussion by Bret Weinstein.

He's a stone liberal, but he's doing God's work here.

Cultural cohesion or cultural coercion?

‘Woke Mob Terrorizes Tennessee Smokehouse After False Rumors Of ‘Back The Blue’ Donation’

“While the restaurant held up its end of the bargain, Williams did not, and instead his posts remain up rallying his followers to demonize the local small business.

In one video, Williams bragged about his followers having forced the restaurant to “delete their Facebook ASAP” and encouraged people to place “realistic” to-go orders they never intend to pick up after leaving bad reviews on Google.

In the past, Williams has rooted for America’s destruction, encouraging rioters to tear down
property that is not black-owned while chastising Independence Day as racist.”

It’s the haters’ boasting and reveling in their cruelty that gets me.

re: BillT@5:28AM July 2, Year Zero.

What I love about that article is that the rumor is 'false' and that that even matters. So what if it's true that those folks donated food to some kind of Back the Blue fandango?

Heck, jolly olde Nevada City has it's own witch smellers, complete with forced Facebook deletion.

I also see they are working on a larger master list of businesses to mob up on. All in the name of The People of course.

It's kind of a two-pronged approach. Our RR Blue Mobsters worry about Trump polls and whether Trump was seen with toilet paper on his shoe while their brothers-in-arms try to ruin local businesses in the Age of the Plague. Righteousness uber alles.

I was thinking about Brother Paul's question to George considering safety in a Blue County. My hope is that he gives us a head's up before his folks start going door to door.

"It’s the haters’ boasting and reveling in their cruelty that gets me."

I'm afraid that's baked into the cake of humanity. You can imagine the celebration that went along with nipping off limbs in Rwanda. To some extent, cruelty has to be trained out of people and a lot of folks skipped class that day.

In any case, this current movement is 100% about one thing. Power. It has noticed that it has quite a lot and will continue as long as it has Big Mo. An ideologue with a megaphone, either physical or virtual, has as much control over the future of a business as it's owner.

A certain segment of society is really enjoying street theater and in the interest of domestic tranquility, those progressives who enjoy racial masochism should have something that plainly identifies them as such.....then if somebody gets bumped by the car they can rush into the fray and kneel, or wash feet, or anything else that the aggrieved party demands.

A civic duty if you will.

BillT 528am - Unless my communication was unclear, there is no OR in "Cultural cohesion or cultural coercion". The cohesion I was talking about can only come about through coercion. Apologies for not having made that point more forcefully.

No apologies necessary. I was looking for a short header for my early AM comment and I typed cultural coercion instead of cultural cohesion. I like the typo and went with it.

Here is a story I have been following. One step backwards for cultural cohesion.

Harvard Grad Blames ‘Trump Supporters’ After Being Fired From Her ‘Dream Job’ Over TikTok Threat

“Janover complained about “the nerve, the sheer entitled Caucasity to say ‘All Lives Matter'” and talked about “stabbing” as a way of demonstrating the difference between “All Lives Matter” and “Black Lives Matter.”

“I’ma stab you,” Janover says in the video, zooming in on her face. “I’ma stab you, and while you’re struggling and bleeding out, I’ma show you my paper cut and say, ‘My cut matters, too.’”

You’re fired! At least she blamed Trump supporters (deplorables) instead of Trump. I take full responsibity since the young lady won’t.

Just a bit more on the lady with the gun.

Lesson: If you attempt to protect yourself, you go to jail, get fired from your job, full force of state brought to bear. There's a reason that the mob continues on unabated.

Takeaway: Probably a variation of the Michael Pence rule.

If you thought preachy woke tv and movies were bad now -

To be clear, the obnoxiously woke, preachy, mean-spirited, sexless, and humorless Captain Marvel is not just a preview of what’s coming from the next phase of the Marvel franchise, it’s a preview of what we can expect from every movie (and TV show) for years to come.

Remember that scene where the joyless, intolerant, and bitter Captain Marvel assaults, robs, and threatens a guy for making a pass at her, and then steals his clothes and motorcycle? Remember the scene below where Captain Marvel proves she’s a thin-skinned bully, thief, and humorless asshole…?

We’re going to see a whole lot more of that.

Remember the Captain Marvel scene where Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury innocently addresses Marie Rambeau as “young lady” and she flips out?

“Call me young lady again, and I’m gonna put my foot in a place it’s not supposed to be!”
Remember that?

Oh, yeah… Those kinds of hideously unattractive moments presented as bold and brave are about to be everywhere in our entertainment culture… Instead of being cool, laid back, self-composed, strong, generous, gracious, forgiving, and good-natured, we’re about to be instructed that the following are virtues: thin-skinned, humorless, easily-offended, weak, demanding, vindictive, and neurotic.

If you thought popular culture was sickeningly left-wing and preachy before, you haven’t seen anything yet. By next summer and the summer after, you’re going to look back on Captain Marvel as the good old days.

Bill Tozer

“This is a good example of the incipient fascism that has taken control of the Democratic Party. And it is incipient only because the Democrats do not yet wield unfettered power. If Joe Biden wins in November, and especially if the Democrats take the Senate, it will be unleashed.

McMurray wants Trump supporters to be “reported.” To whom? The authorities, presumably. (Maybe as of 2021 we will be glad that the Democrats have defunded and disbanded the police.) Or perhaps he just means the far-left Twitter mob. But the objective is obvious: Democrats yearn for the day when they won’t have to tolerate opposition.

This totalitarian instinct is completely absent on the right. We conservatives are so old-fashioned that we try to win by proving we are right. Meanwhile, the Democrats are content for the moment with trying to get Republicans fired and ruining their lives and careers. Such “restraint” will disappear if Joe Biden wins the election. Prepare to be reported.”

re: New York, New York. It's a helluva town.

"Concerns are rising about safety across the city after the City Council passed a budget earlier this week cutting $1 billion of funding to the police department. "

You know darned well they're just going to move the money around. They'll probably shut down the PD-run school cops department and have a school district run school cops department of exactly the same size. The trick will be generating a bit of filthy lucre for the payoffs to the preferred 'non-profits' to keep the local SJW wallahs in a bit of dosh. Maybe they can bully Trump out of some of that sweet sweet federal cash.

At least this time they didn't break down the gate to go onto the homeowner's property.

The interesting part is this. Skip to about 3:20 or so and see what it looks like.

Like the street vendor in Conan the Barbarian sez: "Two or three years ago it was just another snake cult, now -- they're everywhere."

I'd like to read the rest of the article, it does look promising.

"It’s the Fourth of July, and revolution is in the air. Only in America would it look like this: an elite-sponsored Maoist revolt, couched as a Black liberation movement whose canonical texts are a corporate consultant’s white guilt self-help manual, and a New York Times series rewriting history to explain an election they called wrong."

Cultural Cohesion: Bow or be cancelled.

‘We Can’t Have ‘National Dialogues’ If People Get Fired For Talking Honestly’
No one outside conservative media can criticize Black Lives Matter without being fired or ostracized, so how can we expect the average American to chime in for a productive dialogue

Bill Tozer

Cancel Culture, thinking it through.

Inspired by ‘The Obsolete Man’, 3 minute video.

We have the unmooring from the past and the Wrong Think Police everywhere, from Corporate America to campuses, to academia, to government, to non-profits, to all the major sports franchises...(insert more here).

Right now it’s just half the nation they are going after...with a vengeance. But, what would be next. Types of music? Art? Opps, they have already gone after art. Ok, what kind of music will be allowed? The possibilities are endless, just look at academia or Big-Tech/Surveillance State Globalists for their roadmap. Or the French Green Party platform that Bobbie spouts. BTW, “Imagine” is probably the worse song ever written. Imagine that.

The thirst of the totalitarians is insatiable. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can ever quench their control freak lust.
to be the boss of you. The man who worries about his well running dry will draw water that will never quench his thirst.

Perhaps it is time to make them obsolete. I don’t think I am a good fit for Cultural Cohesion as currently being crammed down our throats. As Lincoln once told a freed slave filled with gratitude (who rushed and bowed before the President upon seeing him), ‘Bow before no man, bow only to God.’

"...the Wrong Think Police everywhere..."

a nice example.

Good for them, but there's a couple of important take-aways here (from the story):

"Although the man and woman have not yet been identified, the NBC affiliate reported that their license plate information has been recorded. "

"The Hill has reached out to the Martinez Police Department, which is also reportedly looking into the incident, for more information."

Conclusion....paint over graffiti, *you* get in trouble. protect your home from the Mob of Peace, *you* get in trouble. defy the new holy writ on social media in any way, *you* get in trouble.

Bret Weinstein really had it right in referring to the main risk as being 'sleeper cells'. The schools will double down on propaganda to their charges, elected officials in cities will side with the Blue Mob, tons of multinational companies have decided that throwing the US national culture overboard will make them a few more bucks.

Paul 'n Mary mewl on as if this is all about Trump. That'll show them pubbers, don't give us that good health care like in Denmark? We'll send some people to burn down your country.

In the meantime, the middle class huddles at home and wishes it would all just go away. This doesn't strike me as a winning strategy.

"Although the man and woman have not yet been identified, the NBC affiliate reported that their license plate information has been recorded. "

I'm disappointed. Not because they weren't going to be outed....they were....I was just hoping that this would rate the same level (15 FBI agents hurriedly dispatched to Alabama) of attention that l'affaire Bubba Wallace received during "Noosegate".

No baseball and now this.....2020 isn't turning out at all how I had hoped.
