[In the intro to the last Sandbox, my invitation to readers to discuss the dollar-value of human life went over like a turd in a punchbowl. It appears that the best approach to discussing the value of human lives is just to bloviate with a lot of virtue signalling thrown in. That's supposed to divert the reader from discovering that the writer has no idea what he's talking about. Public policies are supposed to be made with some regard to a broadly agreed on dollar-value of a human life, but only, I guess, if the public gives a damn. Oh well. gjr]

Morn'n Bill. Nice find.
Plenty worse than what Nixon did. But just think if Bush had done that to "O".
Now just how did "O" get picked for the post? A no nothing, wet behind the ears Sen. that only voted "present"??? A true Commie at heart.
The likes of Emery would be crying from the top of the National Hotel to jail Bush.

BillT 746am - Mr Tozer, every so often we see published claims like the NYP post that you cite. Were even a smidgen of such a connection between Obama and Russiagate true, it would and should be a bombshell in our polity - news outlets worldwide would pick up on the story and shout it in their headlines in anticipation of its second party corroboration and the political, if not prosecutorial, events to follow. But there is none of that happening. This supposed revelation is successfully, if not intensely, ignored by literally everyone on the right and left. The Left's deliberate dismissals of this we can, perhaps, easily explain away (but even there some progressive outlet might be willing to pick it up, if for nothing else save not winding up with egg on its face when/if the shit hits the fan). But why the deafening silence from the Right, especially from what shards remain of the Republican leadership?
In this desperate election year, why do you think this "fresh evidence" is not causing a ripple? Is Obama's involvement in Russiagate really so dead that nothing can resurrect it? Thoughts, anyone?
Posted by: George Rebane | 28 June 2020 at 08:49 AM
Russiagate was to get rid of Trump. Pure and simple. Nothing more, nothing less.. The whole operation is now to be forgotten, like it never happened.
It's all about protecting Biden now. Gotta hide his obvious mental rot. Biden's last "live" broadcast, was cut the second after he said "we have 120 million dead from the virus".
Biden could be in Hospice, and the LIBS would still be trying to get him elected.

"WASHINGTON — Attorney General William P. Barr dismissed President Trump’s attempts to rebrand the Russia investigation as a criminal plot engineered by former President Barack Obama, saying on Monday that he expected no charges against either Mr. Obama or former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. as a result of an investigation into how their administration handled Russian election interference.
“As long as I’m attorney general, the criminal justice system will not be used for partisan political ends,” Mr. Barr said".
Posted by: Mary Wanna | 28 June 2020 at 09:43 AM
Since Russiagate has been orders of magnitude more destructive, expansive, and involved more extensive conspiracies and illegal acts than Watergate (one bungled burglary), why was the DoJ so aggressively involved in “partisan politics” then but not now? Aren’t the allegations and the attendant evidence gathered against Team Obama much more condemning (talk about blatant ‘abuse of power’) and actually beyond partisan politics in the same manner as apparently were those against Team Nixon?

PaulE 1029am - Excellent question Paul. The Dems will indict at the drop of a hat, even on what turns out to be manufactured evidence, e.g. Mike Flynch. Apparently the Repubs require a frustratingly higher bar to indict. Note that the existing evidence is not being disputed, Barr just wants more of it.
Posted by: George Rebane | 28 June 2020 at 11:55 AM
Here you go Bill, keep trying..”
Barr said a long time ago and has been steady consistent that he has no intention to look at either Joe Biden or Obama from the criminality- DOJ point of view. Durham is checking into people whose names we might recognize involved in malfeasance and violations, but not going after neither Obama or Biden. No political influence, no opening up new investigations into Biden. No way would have Barr ever opened an FBI investigation into Trump on the evidence presented. You can’t open up an FBI investigation unless there is evidence presented of wrong doing. And the DOJ cannot even prosecute any case they do not have a chance of winning. That is if you are doing it my the book. No fishing expeditions allowed. Barr is out to restore trust in the DOJ and FBI again, no matter whose toes are stepped on. Restore trust that will take decades to restore. Real Justice is seeking the truth and the truth-justice does not care about not opening an investigation or closing one down (based on verifiable available evidence at the time ) or one’s politics. Let the chips fall where they may.
Comey is a familiar name. He sent an FBI agent to check out Steele’s story by interviewing Steele’s source of info he cited to the FBI. The agent came back and the relayed the main source used in the Dossier (and another) told him that Steele is full of shit, grossly embellishes things, and is not one to believed, he made it up, and “I never said that” and the Russian collusion thing was baloney. With that knowlege, the FISC warrant application was filed.
No way would Barr allow that to happen on his watch. A man who does things by book,
Barr has consistently also added the caveat “unless there is some big evidence uncovered...”
Barr out. We are on it!...and supplying the Senate and House and the DOJ with findings for their files.
PS: go fornicate thyself...again

"Hey....I’d forgotten about your project.....reconstituting the California Republican Party"
Dunno what the point is, the superdoopermajority California government has kicked amazing ass in it's own state, no need for improvement.
Average SAT score: California 1076 Alabama SAT: 1166
Firearms death rate / 100,000: California: 7.5 Arizona: 5

To me, it's the perfect chance for the Left to strut it's stuff. No one can take credit for the beach, so the rest of it is up to the California gubmint.
The real question is whether CA can be #1 for lootings, mob mayhem, cancel culture, communists in coffee shops. There's some hope in that case.

https://dailycaller.com/2020/06/27/washington-post-claims-most-dangerous-cities-america-arent-run-democrats/
The Washington Post tried to push back on President Donald Trump’s claim that the most dangerous cities in America are run by Democrats – but the graph provided largely proved Trump’s point.
"Trump said Wednesday that “every one” of America’s “20 most dangerous” cities “are Democrat run.” WaPo’s analysis headline wrote that “Trump keeps claiming that the most dangerous cities in America are all run by Democrats. They aren’t.”
The article, however, did not provide a single city run by a Republican in the top 20 most violent cities per capita. According to data WaPo gathered to disprove Trump, 19 of the 20 cities with the most violent crime per 10,000 residents are run by Democrats. The lone city on the per capita list not run by a Democrat is run by an Independent."

re: Education and the courts. Nice White Privilege Graph at the end.
GAMING OUT THE LEFT’S RACE STRATEGY FROM HERE
“But the problem for the left is that at Berkeley, Harvard, and other elite universities, not enough officially sanctioned minorities (meaning blacks and hispanics) score well enough to qualify for admission on a straight-up basis, while too many Asians (who are increasingly considered “white” by the identity-mongers) score so highly on the SATs that Harvard, Yale, UC Berkeley, and other elite universities could fill perhaps 40 percent of their freshman classes right now with Asians. UCLA has for a while now been said to be the “University of Caucasians Lost among Asians.”
Meanwhile, there is a torpedo in the water heading for the current “diversity” regime of race-based preferences. I suspect that the drive to jettison the SAT is a pre-emptive move in anticipation of an eventual adverse Supreme Court ruling in the lawsuit over Harvard’s discrimination against Asian applicants. If the regime of “diversity” and affirmative action admission is to survive, colleges will have to come up with a new scheme of “holistic” admission screening to get around the problem of meritocracy. Better to get a head start.“

The details about Hillary's "lead" in the polls in '16. Looks pretty grim.
Biden currently leads by 9.6 over Trump four months before the election. Here's the scoop on Hillary in '16
"some people have dismissed Biden’s lead by pointing out that Hillary Clinton also led in most polls of the 2016 election (Clinton, obviously, ended up losing to Trump). While this is true, Clinton’s lead was much smaller. Applying our current polling-average methodology to 2016 polls, Clinton led national polls by an average of about 4.0 points four months before the 2016 election, and 3.8 points on Election Day itself. So while a normal-sized polling error was enough to throw the 2016 election to Trump, it would take a much bigger — and much unlikelier — polling error for Trump to be ahead right now.
Of course, Trump became president because he won the Electoral College despite losing the national popular vote. But if Biden wins the popular vote by 9.6 points, his current lead, Trump would be extremely unlikely to pull off the same trick. In our state-by-state polling averages, Biden currently leads in states worth 368 electoral votes, far more than the 270 needed to win."

While the media has focused mainly on Florida, Texas, and Arizona (The Trifecta, all R Governors), CA is getting slammed. More specifically, LA County. LA County as ten million people, Florida has 20 million. So, why is LA County’s numbers only ten-twelve thousand short of Florida’s numbers. And this is looking at numbers coming in that are from two weeks ago.

In the meantime, GoogleCIAAmazonKVMR keeps pushing, pushing.

Wow
Trump down by 14.8 in RCP averaged job approval polls. It's his lowest since Jan 2018, two and a half years ago. His disapproval % is an astonishing 56%. The Rats will soon start jumping off the sinking Trump ship to save their butts for re-election.

PaulE 100pm - Snowball's chance in hell. "Republicans in general", a firm maybe. Some of the CS Repubs may be scared of aggravating the Dems in their push for DC statehood. But I'd be in favor of a fair trade, just like in ante-bellum days of the 1854 Kansas-Nebraska Act.

A tweet from Joe
@JoeBiden
Today the President shared a video of people shouting “white power” and said they were “great.” Just like he did after Charlottesville.
We’re in a battle for the soul of the nation — and the President has picked a side. But make no mistake: it’s a battle we will win."
Yes Joe just like Charlottesville. Anybody here see the video? How in the hell could Trump have "missed it" right at the start into the video camera a carload of people shouting "white power"
"Trump thanked 'great people' shown in Twitter video in which a man chants 'white power'"

Covered yesterday Punch.......essentially Senior Citizen on Senior Citizen political violence at a gated golf community somewhere in Florida (you oughta look into it....maybe take up the game. Give you something to do after you fix the California Republican party). Somebody should vet Trumps retweets though, he sees a guy in a golf cart with Trump decals, Re-Elect Trump signs and a MAGA hat, the guy could be yelling "Hail Satan" and trump would give it a thumbs up because he doesn't obsess over the details like lefty cancel/tattle culture.
This is really just a variation on the disavow discussion we had a week or so ago.

Gee look at all the young people getting sick, but at least the death rates are going down -
Los Angeles County may run out of hospital beds in the next two to three weeks because of a new surge in coronavirus infections dating to the period in which Black Lives Matter protests broke out.
Last week, L.A. County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said that it was “highly likely” that a new spike in cases was partly related to the protests and riots, in which tens of thousands of people filled crowded streets.

This one is not going away, not even close -
The documents, which were received through a Freedom of Information Act request by the conservative-leaning group Judicial Watch, indicate the younger Biden took 411 domestic and international flights upon which the federal government provided security between June 2009 and May 2014. Listed among the destinations were 29 foreign countries, including five visits to China alone between 2009 and 2014.
One of those five visits, in particular, has raised concerns. In December 2013, Hunter Biden flew aboard Air Force Two with his father to Beijing. The trip was part of an official state visit the then-vice president was making to the country amid escalating tensions with the United States over islands in the South China Sea.
Although it is unclear exactly what transpired during the visit, Hunter Biden entered into a lucrative business arrangement shortly afterward. Only 12 days after the trip, the younger Biden inked a multibillion-dollar deal with a subsidiary of the state-owned Bank of China.
The deal, which was the first of its kind, created Bohai Harvest RST (BHR) as a private equity fund to invest Chinese money overseas. Once BHR was up and running, the firm proceeded to invest heavily in energy and defense projects. Some of those investments, however, have caught the attention of congressional lawmakers, including, most notably, BHR’s investment in a company blacklisted by the U.S. government for suspicion of helping the Chinese government violate human rights and the fund’s purchase of an American firm with insight into military technology in 2015.
As BHR’s purchase of the latter required approval by the Obama administration’s Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, the Senate Finance Committee has begun probing whether there was any conflict of interest in the matter. The Finance Committee’s investigation still appears to be ongoing.
Hunter Biden, for his part, resigned from BHR’s board of director years last year amid public scrutiny. It is unclear, though, if he has kept his ten percent stake in the fund, which is estimated to be worth millions.

OH REALLY! American jobs for Americans -
“The people coming on these [H-1B] visas have built this country,” Biden added.
“He said the H-1Bs built this country? So the country didn’t exist before 1998? That is interesting,” responded Rosemary Jenks, policy director at NumbersUSA. If Biden is elected, she said:
I think we will see an increased number of parents realizing that their children will not do better than they did, and that is the antithesis of the American dreams. If many college graduates cannot get good jobs, well-paying jobs, they are not going to be as successful as their parents, and we will have reversed one of the foundational principles of America. – that we are a country of opportunity.
We’re already seen that the most recent high school and college grads are looking at what’s ahead of them and they are very insecure and they are very depressed. The question is how to they respond to that environment? They can take whatever job they can find, or do they rebel and go out and tear down statues?

PaulE 325pm - If someone were to yell 'Black Power' or 'Black Lives Matter', you surely would not identify him as a racist. Yet when some old white guy responds to screaming TDS sufferers with 'White Power', then his skin color comes into play, and he's immediately identified as a racist and white supremacist. It's always good to review the leftwing logic behind such discrimination - could you humor us with your assessment?

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves a winner.
Those two paragraphs in quotes above is the bee’s knees. The plug in the volcano. What the late Pat Cadell brought to Trump was more important than any polling numbers. Pat uncovered that for the first time in America, people felt that they were leaving the next generation a country worse of that they inherited. It’s part of the pact that makes us Americans; leaving the country in better shape. As Don’s link says, “ I think we will see an increased number of parents realizing that their children will not do better than they did, and that is the antithesis of the American dreams”. That bodes for a foul populace.
What Pat could not figure out late in the race was why there was no break towards Trump with 4 weeks to go, then three weeks. The anger was still there, the discouragement that our pact as Americans with the next generation had been broken and the country is going downhill. Wrong way. Well, it broke alright.
That anger is still there. And Trump is still considered the outsider and will always be...unlike the other guy running for President.
Leaving a country worse off than you found it is not a legacy most salt of the earth folks want hung on them.

The dems are going to pay a price for going too far -
This same survey also shows presumptive Democrat presidential nominee former Vice President Joe Biden slipping somewhat since the April survey, dropping two percent from 48 percent then down to 46 percent now. President Donald Trump, the incumbent Republican running for re-election, also dropped a percent from 42 in April down to 41 now. Despite both Trump and Biden slipping slightly, the margin between them has also shrunk from 6 percent then to just 5 percent now.
The survey also oversampled Democrats, according to the local news outlet, meaning that Wolf and Biden both likely fare better in this poll than in reality.

Here's a quote from Trump from April that describes Trumps attitude about wearing masks.
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump said Friday that he would choose not to wear a coronavirus mask because it would interfere with his ability to meet with foreign presidents, prime ministers and "dictators."
"Somehow sitting in the Oval Office, behind that beautiful Resolute Desk," Trump said, indicating he thought it would be uncomfortable wearing a mask as he met with "presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens – I don’t know, somehow I don’t see it for myself."
