"Trump argued that it was impossible for him to lose the election, thus concluding he would be “stupid” to hand over power peacefully should he lose.
“We not gonna lose this, except if they cheat,”
“That’s the only way we’re gonna lose is if there’s, uh, mischief,” he argued. “And it will have to be on a big scale.”
“And we do want a very friendly transition, but we don’t want to be cheated and be stupid and say, ‘oh, let’s transit — we’ll go and we’ll do a transition’ and we know that there were thousands and thousands of ballots that made the difference through cheating,” he said, repeating the debunked conspiracy theories.

More Hillary colludin’ with her lover Putin. Paying a Russian spy to lie about Trump. Why does Hillary love the Russians so? Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned.
‘Primary Source For Bogus Steele Dossier Was Deemed A National Security Threat’
Newly declassified information reveals that the primary source used for the discredited, DNC-funded Steele dossier was a suspected Russian agent who had been the subject of an earlier FBI investigation. The investigators running the Crossfire Hurricane team knew this by December 2016 but withheld that information from the court that authorized using the dossier as a basis to go after President Donald Trump and spy on his affiliates.
According to documents released by Attorney General William Barr to Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., declassified Thursday, a previously redacted but now-unveiled footnote in Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s December report shows the primary sub-source “was the subject of an FBI counterintelligence investigation from 2009 to 2011 that assessed his/her documented contacts with suspected Russian intelligence officers.”

Walk right into it team lefty go ahead let the radicals herd you -
President Trump now says he plans to offer his nominee on Saturday, after nine states have already started in-person voting on his reelection bid. But Gardner, like the vast majority of his colleagues, believes it’s OK to proceed because the Senate and the White House are controlled by the same party.
This is reminiscent of Jean de La Fontaine’s fable of the wolf and the lamb, whose acidic moral was that those with power always make the better argument. History is written by the winners; the rules are set by the majority. There are no principles here beyond the notion that it’s important to use the power at one’s disposal; in 2016, that meant blocking a vote on Obama’s nominee, and in 2020, that means quickly considering Trump’s.
Yet Republicans may also see a chance here to provoke Democrats into threatening a bunch of changes that delight the folks on the left wing but unsettle people in the middle. That would play right into Trump’s effort to portray his opponent — former Vice President Joe Biden — and congressional Democrats as puppets of the most extreme voices in their party.
Sure enough, some Democrats and liberal pundits are casually suggesting a cascade of retaliations next year if the current Senate votes to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. These include packing the Supreme Court with four Biden appointees to turn a 6-3 conservative majority into a 7-6 liberal edge; eliminating filibusters in the Senate on legislation, allowing a new Democratic majority to enact whatever it pleases by a simple majority vote; admitting Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico as states, which could add four Democrats to the Senate; and even finding a way to neuter the Electoral College so that the presidential nominee who receives the most votes across the country will win the election, significantly increasing the influence of Democratic-dominated California and New York at the expense of a slew of red flyover states.
Many Californians, no doubt, would consider these proposals sensible and even overdue. The Electoral College is profoundly undemocratic; voters in lightly populated states have more sway than voters in densely populated ones. The filibuster is undemocratic, too, and has been routinely used in the last couple of decades not just to stop presidents from enacting much of their legislative agendas, but also to thwart action on major, complex issues (see, for example, immigration). And the Americans who live in the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico should be able to decide for themselves whether to opt for statehood.
One person’s bold change, however, is another person’s scary attack on American institutions. It’s easy to imagine how ideas like nuking the filibuster and expanding the Supreme Court will play out in Republican campaign advertisements, rallies and on cable news shows: “If you elect Democrats, they will trample on tradition and damage our great American institutions, and for what? Because they want power!”
Whether this line of attack will move many voters is an open question. But remember, Republicans’ goal this election is mainly to play defense on behalf of Trump and the Senate GOP majority. And one time-tested way to do that is to make the status quo seem safer than change, typically by making the challengers seem like radicals.
Ginsburg’s death left Democrats in a tough spot. With the filibuster removed on presidential nominees (a process started by Democrats in 2013 and completed in 2018 by Republicans), they have no brakes to press on whomever Trump nominates, regardless of how divisive a confirmation would be at this point. That’s why a number of analysts (on both sides of the political spectrum) have called on Democrats to up the stakes by making big threats, in the hope of making Senate Republicans blink.
And that may be exactly what Senate Republicans want.

While it not a great Kunstler column posted by Scenes, I did like the book reviewer creative writing which is NOT to be confused with the methodical objective low key style of ‘Just the facts ma’am’ Bryon York whose book he was reviewing. Without further ado, .....defending an innocent man:
https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/25/obsession-uncovers-the-plot-to-impeach-trump/
With a steady drumbeat of factual, piece-by-piece storytelling, York captures the Chautauqua of sleaze and venality that has overtaken official Washington for the past four years in this, the greatest ongoing emanation of meaningless sound and fury in U.S. political history. It was a plot hatched by a comprehensive assortment of all the monstrous personalities in which the capital specializes: schemers, narcissists, and zealots, sure, but also the monomaniacally insane, the gutlessly obsequious, and, most of all, the overblown and hyperextended of ego.
In short, those who may have been people once, but have whittled themselves down to mere psychotic nubs, personas, corrupt freaks possessed of souls with the size and consistency of a mildewed ear — and all these behavioral mutants bathing in, absorbing their sustenance from, a miasmic slough of verbal pus spewed forth by a nattering, nattering, forever nattering horde of sideline-sitting SAT progenies, beard-tugging sophists, vitriolic fops, and cheese-brained shawties gussied up in meaningless degrees, chemical tans, pancake makeup, and whitened teeth looking like corpses attending their own funerals.
—
York: “During that time, some Democrats worked themselves into a seemingly permanent state of hysteria over Russia. There was breathless (and endless) discussion of each new revelation out of the Mueller probe. There were serious people who, with a straight face, called the president a Russian agent. There were serious people who accused him of treason. There were serious people who believed the allegations in the Steele dossier. Reason, proportion, and critical thinking virtually disappeared from the daily debate.”
—
York tells the story with no polemic. He doesn’t need it. All he has to do is illustrate the fact that there was no evidence supporting the great plot to bring down President Donald Trump.
This is the salient fact to which York returns time and again in this nuanced, complex, and remarkably complete account of the mania that overtook not only the political far left, but the Democratic Party, and quite a few bureaucratic operatives in their attempt to remove a U.S. president from office, and possibly see him to prison. Unfortunately, it is a mania that is far from spent.

Time is running out and still no movement towards Trump. He has only a pathetic 119 electoral votes based on consensus polling compared to Bidens 255. Honestly I'm kind of surprised that polls still exist as a viable predictive tool.
Without them, you'd certainly save some money and just imagine the blessed silence from our local Blue Mob.
Somebody at (fer instance) Google has no doubt taken all of the digital life they sweep up, including gmail and Android, and found some way to convert that into likely voting behavior. You probably won't hear much about it as it's worth more to Alphabet as a way to grow in power than it is as a salable product. The internet monopolies have definitely found ways to merge commercial and political clout in the same ways that international banking and some large scale manufacturers did in previous decades.
I do have to say that the fact the Blue Mob is in the pocket of the evil elite amuses me no end. They honestly think that they are rational actors in all of this.

PaulE 1229pm - Yes, but you didn't read your link, I did. But all that aside, aren't you concerned that all you Dems have against Trump is citing his open-mic bravura that admittedly goes off the rails at times. You guys can't come up with a better Covid response program - you parrot his. You have no idea how to manage an economy, Obama's eight years most recently demonstrated that, and Bumblebrain has only offered the disastrous Green New Deal as his alternative. Your foreign policy ranges between non-existent and totally dysfunctional as Obama demonstrated and Biden promises to continue. Trump will bring/continue demonstrated and substantive programs in all those areas. Have you read and responded to any of the Dems 2020 party platform? Nobody seems to want to talk about it either locally or nationally. What are you progressives really presenting to the electorate besides anti-Trump ad hominims?? Does that evoke any feeling of shame, or at least inadequacy?

We talked platform in times past and about the Republican platform that believes in life at conception which means even day after pills are taboo. You told me not to sweat it that it's only a platform and they are designed to temper the more shrill voices in the party. I remember the conversation well. Also, as I recall, you supported abortion within a reasonable time frame which is what I support as well. The "every sperm is sacred" view is what the most extreme Christian factions support and does in no way reflect the opinions of a majority of Americans.

==========================================================
Creepy grampa joe is following the same path and whats her name is not going to get out the black vote no matter how much she sucks up to BLM -
But instead of trying to win over the nearly 200,000 people who stayed home in Wisconsin in 2016 (or whose votes were suppressed), Biden has opted to center his Wisconsin campaign on about 700 people, some of whom may have never voted for a Democrat for president. Instead of focusing on the approximately 50,000 voters who stayed home in Democratic-leaning Michigan counties, Biden is touting the endorsement of Snyder, whose neglect threatened the wellbeing of thousands of Flint residents.
The Democratic party has embraced this message to a bizarre and troubling degree, often platforming Republicans who are barely popular with their own constituents. The Democratic national convention, for example, featured a cameo from former Ohio governor John Kasich. Yet Kasich averaged 18% support from Republican voters in the 2016 race, the lowest of the frontrunners, while Trump garnered 46.5%. There has been a clear shift in the Republican party from conservativism to an embrace of the far right, but Biden is banking on an unknown number of disaffected Republicans to help him into the White House, instead of hundreds of thousands of disaffected Democrats.
This centrist Democratic obsession with “winning back” white conservatives in rural towns and suburbs is more symbolic than strategic. It’s rooted in a longstanding, mistaken archetype that conflates the working class with white workers, a tradition that reaches as far back as the 1800s Reconstruction Era.
In his seminal text Black Reconstruction in America, the sociologist WEB Du Bois noted that the mostly white, Northern labor union movement comprehended “chiefly Northern skilled laborers,” but “almost none of them mentioned the Negro, or considered or welcomed him … said nothing of the greatest revolution in labor that had happened in America for a hundred years – the emancipation of slaves”.
Black workers, even those emerging from centuries of brutal unpaid labor, barely registered in the mainstream consciousness at all. Instead, we became the face of the undeserving underclass, asking for “free stuff from the government”, as if a federal government that has handed out trillions to corporations and financial institutions cannot afford basic services such as healthcare, affordable housing and higher education for all of its people.
It seems like we haven’t moved much past that narrative. Biden’s obsession with the white working class, for example, ignores that over half of Black men worked in Milwaukee’s manufacturing sector, more than double white workers, at the height of the city’s heavy industry. It ignores that deindustrialization hurt them more than anyone else. It ignores that Black and Asian households throughout the country were heaviest hit by the Great Recession. It ignores that a shift to lower-wage temporary warehouse work, and unemployment under Covid-19, disproportionately affects Black and Latinos. And it ignores that these material realities affect how they vote, too. But instead of swinging to Republicans, millions stay home.

PaulE 307pm - Don't know what your point is in focusing on abortion in the Republican platform. The only aspect of abortion considered there is halting the federal funding of it, not the legality of its practice. Republicans want to ultimately ban abortion through a 'Right to Life' amendment to the Constitution, which will have a snowball's chance in hell of passing. So your concentrating on abortion is just a smokescreen when we attempt to compare the SUBSTANTIVE parts of each party's platform. This response appears to be a desperate, yet consistently applied, Democrat tactic.

The prez is in Minnesota tonight , wonder why? -
National polls show decreasing support for Black Lives Matter since a sea change of good will in June. In Minneapolis, the most far-reaching policy efforts meant to address police violence have all but collapsed.
In interviews this month, about two dozen elected officials, protesters and community leaders described how the City Council members’ pledge to “end policing as we know it” — a mantra to meet the city’s pain — became a case study in how quickly political winds can shift, and what happens when idealistic efforts at structural change meet the legislative process and public opposition.
The pledge is now no closer to becoming policy, with fewer vocal champions than ever. It has been rejected by the city’s mayor, a plurality of residents in recent public opinion polls and an increasing number of community groups. Taking its place have been the types of incremental reforms that the city’s progressive politicians had denounced.
In the meantime, “defunding the police” has become a talking point for state and national Republicans looking to paint liberals as anti-law-enforcement. It has been a thorn in the side of Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee

Like Betras, Cohen sees signs of a tilt rightward, including the GOP's strong performance in the 2018 midterms in Ohio, where Republicans won nearly all statewide offices despite a nationwide election that trended strongly Democratic.

Good evening Pennsylvania. Are you ready to party? I can’t hear you. I said are you ready to get down on your bad selves and party hardy??! Then, let’s rock this state!
—-
‘Trump Was Ready To Party In Pennsylvania’
On the heels of his Supreme Court nomination, Donald Trump was ready to rock a rally.
“If there is anything President Donald Trump enjoys more than a rally, it’s a political victory. Tonight in Middletown, Pennsylvania, just outside Harrisburg, he had both. Fresh off his announcement that Amy Coney Barrett will be his historic third Supreme Court nominee, Trump headed to the Keystone State to celebrate with several thousand of his most dedicated supporters.
It is hard to underestimate what a shot in the arm the Supreme Court nomination and the impending confirmation fight has been for the president and his supporters. It is as convincing a conservative victory as the GOP has seen in some time, and it could not have come at a better time. Under gray clouds of impending rain, the crowd braved the skies and the president’s questionable musical tastes — Backstreet Boys? Really? — to see their champion.
Security was tighter than usual — they confiscated my lighter — but I’m not new and obviously had a back-up in my bag. My theory is that the new rule is the result of an incident at the last rally I covered in Nevada a few weeks ago in which a lighter was chucked at the press. The only thing hurled at the press on Saturday night was insults, with “CNN sucks” being a crowd favorite”

Not my words, but spot on.
"There is no literature or poetry in this Whitehouse.
No music. No Kennedy Center award celebrations.
There are no pets in this White House. No loyal man’s best friend. No Socks the family cat.
No kids’ science fairs. No times when this president takes off his blue suit-red tie uniform and becomes human, except when he puts on his white shirt-khaki pants uniform and hides from Americans to play golf.
There are no images of the first family enjoying themselves together in a moment of relaxation.
No Obamas on the beach in Hawaii moments, or Bushes fishing in Kennebunkport, no Reagans on horseback, no Kennedys playing touch football on the Cape.
I was thinking the other day of the summer when George H couldn’t catch a fish and all the grandkids made signs and counted the fish-less days.
And somehow, even if you didn’t even like GHB, you got caught up in the joy of a family that loved each other and had fun. Where did that country go?
Where did all of the fun and joy and expressions of love and happiness go?
We used to have a president that calmed and soothed the nation instead dividing it.
And a First Lady that planted a garden instead of ripping one out.
We are rudderless and joyless.
We have lost the cultural aspects of society that make America great. We have lost our mojo, our fun, our happiness. The cheering on of others. Gone.
The shared experiences of humanity that makes it all worth it. Gone.
The challenges AND the triumphs that we shared and celebrated.
The unique can-do spirit Americans have always been known for. Gone. We have lost so much in so short a time."

There are so many instances of Biden and Schumer stating, when their party was in control of the Senate, that the GOP president of the time should not expect to get a SCOTUS nominee confirmed.
Turnabout was and is fair play.
That's been the way of the SCOTUS since the early days. John Tyler was blocked for years while the Whig Senate waited for him to leave office... Tyler had been a Whig but he was effectively tossed out of the party.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Sunday former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe will testify on Oct. 6, adding that "something else ... more damning" is coming amid fallout over the controversial Steele dossier.
Graham also wants to hear testimony from FBI agent William Barnett, he told "Sunday Morning Futures." Barnett served on Robert Mueller’s team and said he believed the special counsel’s prosecution of former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn was part of an attitude to “get Trump."
FBI OFFICIAL ON MUELLER TEAM SAID FLYNN PROSECUTION HAD 'GET TRUMP' ATTITUDE
"When you look at what Mr. Barnett says and the way they defrauded the FISA [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] court, you get a clear picture that these people are on a mission to go after Trump," Graham said on Sunday. "Can you imagine if the shoe were on the other foot, that if the Republicans had done this? There's a day of reckoning coming. Just stay tuned, and there's more coming. There's something else coming, more damning than this, believe it or not."

It’s odd how we keep hearing about LE shooting unarmed blacks. The figure of nine unarmed black men killed by police in 2019 included one “unarmed black man” who had a cop up thrown against a concrete wall with his vehicle and after a brief pause, drove forward to crush the LE. That’s when the cop’s partner drew his weapon, killing the driver, and saving the cop’s battered body’s life. Poor unarmed black man shot by police. Burn it down, release all the criminals, release them on no bail required, and march down Broad Street to voice support for the pimps and thugs who ran CHAZ like a drug gangs and war lords. Trump busted-Trump Taxes revealed at last
"The New York Times has President Donald Trump’s taxes and they’re exactly what biographers and experts have been claiming for years.
Documents show Trump only paid $750 in federal income taxes in 2016, despite being a self-described billionaire
He also only turned over $750 to the IRS after his first year in the White House.
To make matters worse, Trump hasn’t paid any income tax in 10 of the past 15 years because he claims that he’s losing far more money than he actually makes."

Helps more than hurts? But it does burst the TDS bubbles -
Russia. The Times found no evidence of any links to Russia that were previously unreported. The tax returns, it says, do not “reveal any previously unreported connections to Russia.” All they show is that the 201 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow was “was the most profitable Miss Universe during Mr. Trump’s time as co-owner, and that it generated a personal payday of $2.3 million.” That’s all there is to the vast Russian business interests Democrats hinted (and hoped) the returns would show.
Michael Cohen. Prosecutors in New York have subpoenaed the tax returns for a criminal investigation — most likely, having to do with payments via Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen (now a convicted felon), to alleged lovers (including Stormy Daniels). The Times noted: “The materials obtained by The Times did not include any itemized payments to Mr. Cohen.” It added: “The amount, however, could have been improperly included in legal fees written off as a business expense.” That’s it.
The Audit. Democrats and journalists have mocked Trump’s long-standing claim that he could not release his tax returns because he faced an Internal Revenue Service audit. The Times confirmed the audit: “Also hanging over him is a decade-long audit battle with the Internal Revenue Service over the legitimacy of a $72.9 million tax refund that he claimed, and received, after declaring huge losses. An adverse ruling could cost him more than $100 million.” It is real, just as Trump has claimed.

The congressional jihadi caucus is busy harvesting ballots -
Project Veritas has released the results of an investigation into alleged ballot harvesting by supporters of Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar in Minnesota, a key swing state in the 2020 presidential election.
Video footage captured by Project Veritas shows an operative, Liban Mohamed, bragging about collecting hundreds of ballots.
“Numbers do not lie. Numbers do not lie. … You can see my car is full. All these here are absentee ballots. Can’t you see? Look at all these; my car is full,” Mohamed can be heard saying in the video.
The video also includes testimony from a whistleblower, Omar Jamal, who called Rep. Omar’s alleged ballot harvesting an “open secret” and also discussed an alleged cash-for-votes scheme organized by staffers of Rep. Ilhan Omar.
She [Ilhan Omar] will do anything that she can do to get elected and she [Omar] has hundreds of people on the streets doing that,” said Jamal.
James O’Keefe, the founder and CEO of Project Veritas, said, “Ballot harvesting is real and it has become a big business. Our investigation into this ballot harvesting ring demonstrates clearly how these unscrupulous operators exploit the elderly and immigrant communities — and have turned the sacred ballot box into a commodities trading desk.”

More -
The president cited the following stories, questioning the integrity and stability of the mail-in voting process:
In Brooklyn, 25 percent of mail-in ballots were ruled invalid during the June Democrat primary.
In a New Jersey special election, nearly 20 percent of the ballots were thrown out, and four people are being prosecuted for fraud.
In a Florida primary, more than 35,000 mail-in ballots were rejected, and over 100,000 ballots were rejected in California.
In Pennsylvania’s primary, half of the counties were still counting ballots a week after the election.
The story of discarded military ballots discovered in Pennsylvania, many of them were cast for Trump.
Reports in Wisconsin of three trays of mail containing absentee ballots were found in a ditch.
In North Carolina, voters reported receiving two ballots in the mail.
The president also revisited the disastrous results of the 2020 Democrat Iowa caucuses.
“They still don’t really know who the winner is,” Trump said, referring to Iowa. “I think they called somebody eventually but it was many, many, weeks later.”
The president questioned whether Democrats should be meddling with how elections were being held in other states.
“They can’t run a simple caucus, yet now they’re trying to dramatically write election laws nationwide just weeks before an election,” Trump said.

Paul 4:49 - "Trump busted..."
Really?
What laws were broken, Paul?
And how does the NYTs get a hold of Trump's tax returns?
Could have sworn they were confidential.
