George Rebane
This afternoon the FBI and DoJ stated their concurrence with DNI Ratcliffe’s revelation (here) that the Hunter Biden laptop email scandal had nothing to do with or was any part of Russia’s disinformation campaign to undermine confidence in our November election. The laptop emails are real. Claiming otherwise over the last week has been a prime example of the Democrats’ Big Lie campaign, which here will be corroborated by our leftwing readers practicing their SNEP (Socialist Narrative Exclusion Principle) responses.
[21oct20 update] Continuing proof that most (not all) liberals are functional idiots. To this day, these mental midgets do not understand that fascists are collectivists of the autocratic cum tyrannical variety, who work for a leviathan government that directly controls most of its industry, imposes stacks of regulations, is anti-religion, collects enormous taxes, suppresses individual liberties, and maintains a large internal police apparatus to enforce the whole thing. This is exactly the opposite of the kind of governance that rightwing conservatives desire. In today’s 21oct20 Union we have an example of one of these midgets, a Mr Robert Lobell, who labors mightily to present ‘building evidence’ that President Trump is a fascist (here), and instead presents evidence that he doesn’t have a clue about what is going on in Washington, among other places. But he does describe precisely the major tenets of the now likely Harris/Biden disaster.
The Hunter Biden email scandal is mounting with the FBI’s “nothing to add to Ratcliffe’s statement”, more email recipients confirming veracity of the collection, confirmation of the laptop’s chain of custody, Secret Service matching travel logs, documented ‘pay for play’ shares, … . With all this coming out, Bumblebrain has now stated that there is “no basis” for the claim that his son profited from trading influence with foreign governments. And to keep things as quiet as possible, the overwhelming share of America’s news industry, affectionately known as the lamestream media, does not even make a peep about what is clearly the greatest corruption high-level corruption scandal in modern US history. SNEP on steroids. (more here, here, here, and here)
They really don’t know squat. We just got back from a political luncheon meeting where part of the conversation revolved around the dissemination of the Hunter Biden emails. And a common experience of some of the assembled was that their liberal friends literally knew nothing of what’s going on with Hunter’s laptop and the emails on it. One couple has a son who works on the staff of a Democrat state office holder. They asked his thoughts on the matter, and he drew a complete blank. We are now effectively subjected to a Deep State controlled news and entertainment media enterprise comprised of what can best be described as the vast Progeny of Pravda. When political workers of one side are so insular in their knowledge of national happenings, then control of the electorate for all intents and purposes is complete. The rest of us are really just pissing into the wind.
[22oct20 update] The real Russian colluders have turned out to be the Democrats; we’ve been aware of this for at least two years. Hillary’s misdeeds are known and await indictment. The newest pals of all things Russian and Chinese are members of the Biden cosa nostra, and it turns out there are plenty of them. More evidence of how that group of grifters operated for years is now turning up daily. Given the upcoming election, the stimulus bill negotiations, and other divers things to attend to, the Dems are having a hard time fitting in all the denials and accusations of a vast Republican “smear campaign”. Typical of the daily fare now is this piece just out – ‘New Documents Shed Light On Hunter Biden’s Links To Russian Billionaire Oligarch’. The difference between the Democrats’ “evidence” and evidence of the misdeeds of the Clinton Clan and the Biden Bunch is that the latter is specific and verifiable. All that’s now required is the growth of some political balls to get it all in front of a grand jury.
Guaranteed minimum income vs. increased minimum wage. GMI, could work if the money for the GMI comes from the rich. The rich could keep raking in money through low wages paid to their workers, then those low wage workers would be paid through the government socialized program funded by the rich through higher taxes.

CNN admits Biden lied?
https://www.breitbart.com/clips/2020/10/22/cnns-dale-false-for-biden-to-say-that-he-never-said-he-opposed-fracking/
"During CNN’s coverage of Thursday’s presidential debate, CNN reporter Daniel Dale stated that “it’s just false for Biden to say that he never said he opposed fracking.”
Dale said, “So, in this case, Trump is correct. Biden did make anti-fracking comments during the Democratic primary in 2019 and 2020, and Trump was not lying.”"
Now that had to sting.

"The cost of labor is another tax on business. And the more you tax anything, the less of it you get. "
It's funny how current times are the perfect storm for small business. Increasing regulation, huge growth in mail order due to COVID, ever higher overhead in hiring (not just minimum wage, but the whole tumor of modern employment law), large capital investments in automation that favor large business...it all adds up.
I don't expect Joe Xiden (or his handlers) to see the Law of Unintended Consequences built-in to their policy. No matter, in the long haul it's all about sweeping up economic activity and then parceling it out to the proper people.
So what does the USSA look like? It probably rhymes in a lot of ways. The Soviet Union had more doctors and poorer health care than the West. More efficient housing of people via apartment blocks and mass transit and government designed cars. State controlled companies working towards peculiar and often contradictory goals. Beaucoup surveillance combined with party-designed peer pressure. A reasonably high level of learning for party officials and their progeny combined with a general lack of work ethic. Good jokes written about the government along with a malaise among the people. Investments in mass spectacles and sports while parceling out recreational sedatives. A strong need for external enemies to keep the Spice flowing to the Army.
Maybe Soviet America is just a Soviet Union with the addition of tree sitters.

d sez: "Guaranteed minimum income vs. increased minimum wage. GMI, could work if the money for the GMI comes from the rich. "
Heck, we could all be rich if we just got the money from the rich.
While I do have to wonder what good a guaranteed annual income has done for the US welfare class, and the country is littered with government largesse like AFDC, General Assistance, something like 2/3 of Medicare, Medicaid, SS for low earners, gubmint jobs for useless people, perhaps bread and circuses are inevitable due to automation, overpopulation, and offshoring by those same rich people.
Obviously any strong employment push like selective tariffs, decrease in mass immigration, energy independence, local content laws is out of the question by both the Left and the Swamp so we can just drop that as a concept (but Mr. Scenes, the response pules, what about the 20 dollar lettuce if we don't have field hands?...ignoring the effect of minimum wage for US citizens...not to mention the fact the most illegals are *not* farm workers).
I can see where it all heads. Encourage centralization of money by favored companies, skim off money, hand it out to your friends and favorite voters...all the while encouraging a bored and somewhat violent underclass.
As long as I can watch from a distance, I say go for it. Dunno why the one-party Great State of California is unable to invent it's own guaranteed income system (along with health care system), but I guess you end up with the same problem as communist countries, you have to build a wall around it.

Speaking of "leaving",, the State of Ca. is hemorrhaging taxpayers. They are leaving the state in droves. Just to infect other states with their Proggyism.
They will go to other states to leave the damage they did here, just to repeat it somewhere else.

"Yes, and the purpose of the wall will be to keep people from leaving that workers' paradise."
You have to admit that it's a thing that Marx seems to have overlooked, along with peoples' inherent ethnic/cultural tribalism (which has to be beat out of them). A requirement for a socialist state is either worldwide expansion, or to entrap useful people who can do better elsewhere.
Gotta have them inward-facing walls and the fact that they are universally applied implies that it's baked into that form of government.
Posted by: scenes | 23 October 2020 at 09:48 AM
"Speaking of "leaving",, the State of Ca. is hemorrhaging taxpayers."
That's the brilliance of a far-left national government, there ain't nowhere to go.
The cost of exit is so impractical that everyone is trapped and subject to their brilliant scheme of the day.
In the case of a Xiden administration, a 50:50 situation I think (as usual, although it's always obvious in retrospect), my main canary in the controlmine will be the inevitable gun control that would come along with. Take the (D) firearms campaign plank, combine with Feinstein's definition of firearms, their intense need to disarm Team Red, and you can see the endgame.
After you control the means of communication, school administration and teaching, and the political layer of law enforcement, all that's really left (so to speak) is installing a commissar class within the armed services and then a roll-up from the bottom via removing the means of force from everyday people.
It's all neatly done.
None of this will last of course, it never does. None of these systems are inherently stable (with the occasional exception of hereditary monarchies) and in the truly long-term plate tectonics will handle the problem of the Blue Mob.

scenes 1020am - I found it interesting last night that Trump didn't point out that of the 545 kids, their coyotes would, of course, not return to retrieve them. More to the point are those of the 545 kids who were brought over by some relative who supposedly loves them and is concerned about their welfare. Why are they not returning to retrieve their incarcerated youngsters? While we all know the answer, it should nevertheless be noted that America is such a desirable destination that not only are the illegals willing to risk life, limb, and loot to get here, they are also ready to abandon their progeny if that's the price of staying here, even as a fugitive. Bottom line, human life - even of your kin - is not of infinite worth in many cultures. The whole thing gives lie to the Democrats' characterization of America and its current immigration policy.

So Clinton sells missile tech to China. ( before that China couldn't deliver a nuck across town)
Then "O"&Co. (yes that means Biden) sell out to China more sensitive companies.
"In September 2015, the Obama-Biden administration approved the sale of a strategically sensitive Michigan manufacturer, Henniges Automotive, to a firm connected to Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, and a Chinese military contractor that was on an American watch list because of its close ties to the People’s Liberation Army. Hunter Biden’s equity fund, backed by the Communist Chinese government, and the Chinese contractor, Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC), needed special approval for the deal from the Committee of Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CIFIUS) because Henniges produced technology with potential military use.

Or for anything else on the long list of “the rich will pay for it with their gazillion dollars.

Not what the TDS set was hoping for -
President Trump’s dominance in this debate was captured by pollster Frank Luntz in a report on the key words his focus group used to describe the two candidates after it was over.
According to Luntz, his group described President Trump as controlled, reserved, poised, con artist, and surprisingly presidential. (The mainstream media will focus on “con artist” and ignore the others, I’m sure)
Yet, after the first debate four of those words were more than any Trump adviser could have hoped for. By contrast Luntz’s group described Biden as vague, unspecific, elusive, defensive and grandfatherly.
Somehow, I don’t think vague, elusive, defensive and grandfatherly are winning terms (I dropped unspecific because it is not as harsh).

Brooks said, “The one moment I think people are underplaying, which would worry me if I were on the Biden team, was that moment of transitioning away from oil and gas. That — Hillary Clinton said something like that about transitioning away from coal last time, and it really hurt her, not only in coal countries. It’s a cultural statement. A lot of people say, hey, I work in manufacturing. I work in industry. What, do we just not exist for you people? And so I think that statement has the potential to reverberate a little in some communities in a way, frankly, that a lot of us in the media won’t quite anticipate how people are hearing that, hearing it as an insult.”

Cant walk that back, too late in the game, we know you mean it -
I’ll work as hard for those who don’t support me as those who do, including those chumps at the microphone out there,”
The comments quickly struck many political observers as similar to those of Hillary Clinton in 2016 when she disparaged Trump supporters as “deplorables.”
Biden’s differing remarks in Luzerne and Bucks County indicate the complicated coalition Democrats are trying to put together in Pennsylvania in order to carry the state’s Electoral College votes this year.
In 2016, Trump bested Clinton by just 44,292 votes out of more than six million ballots in the Keystone state. Trump’s one percent margin of victory, narrow though it was, made him the first Republican to carry Pennsylvania since President George H.W. Bush’s 1988 landslide.
The victory was made possible by Trump’s appeal in counties like Luzerne, which were once safe for Democrats. Luzerne, where Wilkes Barre is located, was at one point home to coal mines and manufacturing plants. Like much of the industrial United States, Luzerne was hit hard by the push towards globalization in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Even as manufacturing began leaving throughout that time, the county’s residents continued backing Democrat presidential candidates by a substantial margin.
Four years ago, however, the status quo broke when Trump became the first Republican White House aspirant to win the county since 1988. Trump garnered 57.9 percent of the county’s vote against Clinton, who only took 38.6 percent, in part by appealing to the same voters that would have been considered safe Democrats even a decade prior. That point was evidenced by the fact that just four years earlier, President Barack Obama had carried Luzerne by five percentage points, 51 percent to 46 percent.
