Here's evidence that Nevada County is deep Blue and getting Bluer

In 2016 Hillary won by 5%. 47-42%
In 2020 Biden won by 19%. 58-39%

You can find the sites

Sure about that Emery? PLENTY of ballots got stolen from mailboxes. But you don't read the police blotter very much.. Do you.

punchy 629pm

and this year, there were apparently 55% not voting.

George Rebane

PaulE 533pm - What you seem to forget is that those with their horrible blue values first moved to places like SF and the bay area because they were attracted by the "environment and the culture" of the region. The result of Their 'appreciation' of what was there to welcome was to turn the place into a shithole which then was no longer so attractive. Having soiled that nest, they started casting about for new unspoiled places which were still attractive and they could appreciate. And sure enough, they found Nevada County (among other places) into which they could escape and start the process all over again.

There is no indication in the past century plus of collectivism cum socialism that such progressive minded people ever learned how/why they turn prosperous and peaceful communities into pernicious autocratic hellholes. (Garrett Hardin in his 'Tragedy of the Commons' explained the whole process to us more than a half a century ago.) To confirm that metastasis, you need look no further than the length of your nose to see what's happening right here in western Nevada County as it turns true blue.

Don't be taken by the arts and crafts that the liberal immigrants brought with them - it's their entry siren song. That little burst of happy dancing will turn out to be short-lived here which it has in other places, as their new public policies invite vagrants, indigents, criminals, and drugs, all attracted by what may best be summarized as free money (from us to them) and loose laws. All of this is forever beyond the ken of collectivists.

Case in point O Buzzard of Broad St.
Even way out here in the sticks, a Proggy city transplant hears someone exercising their 2ND Amend. rights (they hear one gun shot way out in the distance) and they relieve themselves on the spot. Scared shitless.( none left at that very moment)
They call 911 in a panic. Then they go whine to the BOS relentlessly and demand city rules and values out in the sticks.

Speaking of guns and ammo,,, It's sure tough to get reloading supplies... EVERYWHERE. Not just in Kalif.
Can the all knowing emery explain that? RELEASE THE CRICKETS!!

paul emery

Huh??? Where does 55% not voting come from? Do yourself a favor and add up 58+39 %. You do it. I don't want to embarrass you any more than you already have. There are still votes out there but they won't change the numbers much if at all.

paul emery

So George where do put Music in the Mountains in that recipe for disaster you characterize by stating " Don't be taken by the arts and crafts that the liberal immigrants brought with them "

I'm sorry... it's 45% of those registered didn't even vote. 74,467 people were registered...only 40,652 ballots were returned...leaving Nun of the Above the clear winner at about 35k in Nevada County.

So Nun Of the Above whomped Biden's 20k in county.

An enterprising journalist might contact Diaz to find out what the party distribution of the non-responsive voters was. But then again, they might not.

paul emery

Why you are insinuating that they were Trump supporters that, if they would have voted would have evened out the numbers or even put Trump in the lead. Why do you think they didn't vote if they were True Reds as you imply?

Obviously, my hope would be that they were all JoJo Libertarians and just couldn't be bothered.

George Rebane

PaulE 826pm - I put MIM solidly into the camp of those who honor and practice classical western traditions and culture. Offline, I'll explain to you the politics of those who keep classical music and classical music education for the young alive in Nevada County. But to give you a hint, it don't come from the Takers.

DonB 827pm - Yes, you'd think that with these irregularities all over the country involving tens of thousands of votes, and the difference between determining the winner comes down to less than 6 or 7 parts in 10,000, that more people would be interested in finding our what happened instead of trying to sweep the whole thing into oblivion.

Don Bessee

This man is lying…….

"It's time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again," Biden said last night. Is it naive to think that cooler heads will really prevail? Or will polarization only intensify"?

Brian Stelter…..the real George "it's not a lie if you believe it" Costanza!

(Hey Punch…Roberta…you still get upset when politicians lie? You gonna be upset when he trumps Trump by deficit spending another gorillion dollars?

Didn't think so!)

Bill. You up yet? What was all that racket coming from your direction last night?

Told ya so Emery,
"Ezekiel Emanuel, a coronavirus conspiracy theorist who believes old people should get out of the way and die, has been named to Joe Biden’s COVID-19 advisory board."

You just voted for your own demise. Good job.

Yes, it takes a lot of giving by folks who want to be a part of the scene to put on a symphonic gala. Bon mots, amuse-bouche and chardonnay doesn't come cheap. Neither does a large orchestra that needs to be paid (for performances and rehearsals) or they won't show up.

Paul Emery

This quote from Vanity Fair about sums up my thoughts on this:

Vanity Fair’s Gabriel Sherman spoke to some of these Republicans, saying they “uniformly agreed that Trump is done.”

“Sources said a Lord of the Flies atmosphere has enveloped the West Wing, with Trump advisers accusing each other of looking out for themselves,” Sherman writes. “Two sources speculated that a report saying Jared Kushner had advised Trump to concede was a way for Kushner to position himself to his New York friends as a rational voice.”

According to Sherman, Trump has a financial incentive to continue his challenge to the election results, namely by raising millions from donors to use some of the money to pay off campaign debts. But, there’s also a political incentive. “Trump is trying to keep the MAGA movement going. That gives him a lot of leverage,” one adviser told Sherman. “But what Trump is going to find out is that the minute he leaves the White House, he’ll be like a used car coming off the lot. His value will drop.”

Raw story... again?

They lie. That's the business model.

Speaking on lying...

'The Washington Post Lies About Devin Nunes (Again)'

-The lies, omissions, and mischaracterizations are designed to prevent oversight and accountability of Russia hoax that the Washington Post perpetuated.
By Mollie Hemingway

"I know nothing about this,” Rice emphatically stated to Judy Woodruff in a March 22 PBS Newshour interview. “I was surprised to see reports from Chairman Nunes on that count today.”

Well, it turned out that she testified before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence that she knew everything about this. She admitted that she unmasked information on Trump affiliates that arose out of incidental FISA surveillance connections, and that these collections were unrelated to Russia.

But rather than cover this as, “Susan Rice completely contradicted herself when she said she knew nothing about unmasking,” CNN’s Manu Raju—a favorite and reliable leak recipient for Democrats in Congress (see here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here, for example)— spun the news as totally ordinary and justified. Amazingly, Raju never mentioned Rice’s comments to Woodruff that she knew nothing about any Obama people unmasking Trump people.

The Washington Post and Ellen Nakashima may wish to rewrite history by lying about Nunes, mischaracterizing his actual history of investigation, and failing to correct demonstrably false reports. But it’s just another example of how they have destroyed their credibility and their ability to control the narrative in support of their political goals.

punchy 857pm

"Why you are insinuating that they were Trump supporters that, if they would have voted would have evened out the numbers or even put Trump in the lead"

I must have touched a nerve with a hot poker.

"Why do you think they didn't vote if they were True Reds as you imply?"

Punch, the only true Reds around here vote blue.

No insinuations were made, though I am still interested in knowing how many of the 34k ballots that weren't returned were D and how many were R or L or Decline to State. Run along and ask the guy in charge of the Rude Center operation, will you?

‘Sandy’s War’
The Green New Deal makes every progressive an armchair general

“And so we have the grand game of make-believe and moral dress-up, in which Field Marshal Sandy rallies her troops on Twitter in the service of a half-organized bouquet of slogans and prejudices that no mentally normal adult — and there are still a few of those around — takes quite seriously. The purported goal of the great national deployment isn’t the point — the deployment itself is. It is an excuse for a great deal of noise and running in circles and excitation and displays of Very High Moral Seriousness that is its own reason for being. Sandy’s war is not a struggle over the future of Earth — it is only a struggle over the future of Sandy, and all the other Sandys out there in the great vast wilds of America, waiting tables at TGI Friday’s or grinding away in the obscurity of some master’s program in women’s studies, sure that however things were supposed to turn out, they weren’t supposed to turn out like this, a mess of loneliness and pointlessness, all dressed up for battle with nowhere to go and no comfort but Netflix and Facebook and Twitter, little fixes of dopamine just strong enough and frequent enough to keep the addicts upright and sedated enough that they do not begin asking the really difficult questions and demanding answers.”

" Questions? I don't need to answer no stink'n questions! I have been coronated Prez."

Hummmm... Taking notes Emery? Your as bad as Biden in the "question answering" dept.

First paragraph of article:

We knew things at the New York Times were bad, but hoo-ey boy we had no idea just how bad! New York magazine is out with a deep dive into the internal Maoist struggle sessions going on inside the Times, and get a big bowl of popcorn ready for this long piece.

Last paragraphs of article:

And one thing that is clear is that the adults at the Times are terrified and intimidated by the wokerati they have brought into their midst:

Some of the trickiest jounalistic questions have centered on what the Times is or isn’t willing to say. After Bennet’s ouster, Sulzberger met with a columnist for the “Opinion” section who had expressed consternation about the decision. Sulzberger promised the columnist that the Times would not shy away from publishing pieces to which the Times’ core audience might object. “We haven’t lost our nerve,” Sulzberger said.

“Yes, you have,” the columnist told Sulzberger. “You lost your nerve in the most explicit way I’ve ever seen anyone lose their nerve. You can say people are still gonna be able to do controversial work, but I’m not gonna be the first to try. You don’t know what you’ll be able to do, because you are not in charge of this publication — Twitter is. As long as Twitter is editing this bitch, you cannot promise me anything.”
There’s a whole bunch more gossip and dysfunction in the complete story, but one thing is clear: college campuses have nuthin’ on the Times in the ideological derangement department. At the rate they’re going, the Times will end up canceling itself.

Lets tell it like it is.

‘Joe Biden’s Coronavirus Adviser Has Argued That Nobody Should Live Past 75’

Brother Walt again @5:51 pm

Perhaps this has been posted already, but dovetails nicely with your post.

‘Gov. Cuomo: Vaccine’s Timing Is ‘Bad News,’ Suggests Undermining Trump’s COVID Vaccination Plan‘

Cuomo said the creation of the vaccine is good, but he added that the fact it was going to come out under President Donald Trump was “bad news” and that Cuomo is working with other governors to “shape” or “stop” Trump’s plan to disseminate the vaccine to Americans. Cuomo wants to delay the vaccine’s dissemination until Biden presumably takes office, though Trump’s campaign is still filing legal challenges over alleged voter fraud.

“It’s good news/bad news, George. The good news is the Pfizer tests look good and we’ll have a vaccine shortly. The bad news is that it’s about two months before Joe Biden takes over, and that means this administration is going to be implementing a vaccine plan,” Cuomo said. “The Trump administration is rolling out the vaccination plan and I believe it is flawed. I believe it learns nothing from the past. They’re basically going to have the private providers do it and that is going to leave out all sorts of communities that were left out the first time when COVID ravaged them.”

“We have two months and we can’t let this vaccination plan go forward,” Cuomo continued. “The way the Trump administration is designing it because Biden can’t undo it two months later. We’ll be in the midst of it. And I’ve been talking to governors across the nation about that. How can we shape the Trump administration vaccine plan to fix it or stop it before it does damage.”

Evening Walt. Yes, I heard a ruckus last night or in the wee hours, but I did not bother to check it out. I hurt my back bad trying to move a Boulder I had no business even attempting. I should have called the Dirt Mover, but I heard he is sidelined as well. :)

What I find amazing is how (with age) I can now hurt myself easily. And it takes way more time to recover from those Honey-Dos. She has waited 8 years, and it looks like she will have to wait another week or two. No more hurting myself in the afternoon and honky-tonking till 2:00 am on the dance floor. It’s true. Youth is wasted on the young. Heck, I am an open book. I was so young and dumb once that I voted for Jimmy the Carter. At least I ain’t taking any pain killers for the back....then my typos would really skyrocket.

Hope your recovery is going according to schedule. Whose schedule is a different story. Both of us will remain vertical, albeit not as consistently as in the days of wasted youth.

This is yet another example of Trumps Narcissism and mental illness and how it disregards all human decency and moral values.

"White House officials are reportedly seeking to terminate some Department of Defense staffers because they applauded Acting Under Secretary for Policy Jim Anderson after he reportedly resigned.

Longtime conservative columnist Bill Kristol revealed that he had spoken with former DOD officials after Trump fired a large portion of the civilian leadership at the department.

As Anderson was leaving the building, staffers were said to have applauded the outgoing acting under secretary. White House officials who learned of the incident later demanded a list of those who had clapped for Anderson “so they could be fired,” Kristol said.
ON THE PODCAST: Election Day 2000... all over again?

“A sign of the loyalty-oath atmosphere now at DOD: When Jim Anderson was fired yesterday as Acting Under Secretary for Policy, he was given a ‘clap-out’ as he left the building,” Kristol explained. “The [White House] called to request names of any political appointees who joined in so they could be fired.”

Bill Tozer

Would a TDSer lie?
Punchy, Punchy, Punchy, where have you been? I will attribute this to ‘not knowing’, the same words to describe ignorance and agnostic.

A recent example of Kristol and George Conway’s handicraft is the Atlantic’s “four anonymous sources” say Trump Calls Americans Who Died in War “LOSERS and SUCKERS!”

4 anonymous sources vs 10 on the record named individuals in the know who where there (including The Walrus John Bolton) that publicly said it never happened. That was Bill Kristol behind that potentially devastating, yet totally false, news flash. His September surprise. The Lincoln Project. Liberals love the Lincoln Project, but soon gone with the wind like Jeff Flake.

Sometimes I miss the Weekly Standard for old times sake. They had some good writers.

Would Kristol lie? Would someone consumed with TDS lie for the moral superiority title? The greater good? To be praised and listened to again?

Democrats have spent years attempting to tear away those commonalities in favor of coalitional interest-group politics. So - factually accurate info is 'misinformation'?
How many times does it need to be said - 1984 was a warning, not a guidebook.

Scott O

Duh 4:14 - "Why is SprayTan Don threatening to veto the entire defense bill because there is a proposal to rename the 10 military bases that are named after Confederate soldiers?"
Because it's a titanic waste of money.
Just think of all the poor people we could feed instead.
But Duh cares more about virtue signalling than peoples' lives.
There - answered your question - you and Paul need to learn how to do that.

George Rebane

D 414pm - It's an amalgam of a distasteful political statement with that of national security. They don't belong together in the same legislation, and should be presented as two separate initiatives with two very distinct objectives in mind. The bundling of such issues is a travesty of legislation that the drafting party admits cannot separated into their individual parts which do not have the support to pass on their own merits. So the alternative is to assemble a political bamboozle and see if the whole pile of crap can be ushered through on the coattails of something commendable and needed. It takes political courage to reject such piles of crap. I hope this helps.

Sorry Scottduh, That was not an answer. It was just you whining about money.
One million for renaming is in the budget - less than the cost of one Cruise missile.

George, yes all legislation should remain free of pork. But, in this case, it is such a trivial amount it will make no appreciable difference.

Scott O

Duh 8:12 - "That was not an answer."
How would you know, Duh? You asked.
and ...
"One million for renaming is in the budget..."
A million buys a lot of food for a starving child.
But what does Duh care for starving children when virtue signalling is far more important?
"It was just you whining about money."
Starving children do get whiny, Duh.
Maybe Duh can articulate why we need to change the names of military bases.
And maybe he can explain why, if it's so important to do so, he doesn't pony up the money himself?
Or is he going to whine about money?

Scott O

Duh - "But, in this case, it is such a trivial amount it will make no appreciable difference."
So trivial that not a single lefty billionaire will pay for it.
When the left doesn't have to pay, 'it's trivial'.
If it's only a million, then a million whiny leftists could cough up a buck and it's a done deal.
But that's not the point, is it?
This is just another BS issue that does nothing to better the lives of anyone besides the guy with the contract to change the names of the military bases.

Re: Some me the money, honey.

“Josef Stalin famously said that one death is a tragedy, while a million deaths are a statistic. The same holds true for spending: most people’s eyes glaze over at the thought of a billion dollars, but we get outraged over the idea of a $400 hammer.

The $400 hammer won one of Senator William Proxmire’s Golden Fleece awards, decades ago. Proxmire did a more effective job than just about anyone at highlighting wasteful federal spending, and his Golden Fleece awards got enormous publicity. Proxmire was a Democrat, but there was a time when politicians of both parties–some of them, anyway–didn’t like to waste money.

Is that still true? Senator Everett Dirksen famously said, “A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you’re talking real money.” Nowadays we often talk in trillions, but voters still don’t want to see their money wasted, and they still understand relatively small instances of stupidity better than mind-numbing billion-dollar bureaucratese.”

ScottDuh, sorry you are such a racist that you cannot comprehend why people who don't support racism and slavery want to change the names.
We know your ilk ran up huge debts the last four years so you are no penny pincher, and your ilk has been cutting social services.

"D" 1232pm

I don't support racism and slavery and I don't give a flying f&*(^ about the names. It's just feelgood spending by current Democrats.

(D)ugsKKKi knows never to be the first to stop clapping....

Gregory, there is spending for the purpose of healing the centuries of racism and it's negative effects, and Greg's ilk in the Cabinet spending millions on themselves.

"While many of these expenses may not violate federal rules and the use of military or chartered planes may be necessary in some circumstances, the sheer number of questionable expenditures shows a lack of respect for public funds. Cabinet members spent a grand total of nearly $2 million on wasteful or legally questionable expenses. And these are just the ones that are known; given the incredible secrecy of this administration’s Cabinet, it has been difficult to determine exactly how it spends public dollars."

Speaking of wasting money......I’m sure this guy will find a home in the Biden admin.

‘More voters want COVID decisions made at the local level as opposed to national, poll’
Just two out of five voters would prefer national mandates.

Another good sign. Issues of public health resides within the powers of the States, not DC Madness. Uncle Sam can step in with a fat wallet to help out and does, but it shows the absolute genius of our Founding Fathers in creating upon this continent the Republic for which we stand. They gave such powers to the States.

Biden can declare a national mask mandate through an EO and that man-child Ricky Maddow over at MSNBC can wet his pants in gushing delight along with Fredo at CNN and Jake Tapper and the ladies on The View until they are all gushed out. Don’t mean a thang.
That EO would last about 2 hours before, say, a Federal Court in Texas would give the plaintiffs a stay on the EO, lol.

‘California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom Caught Attending Multi-Family Gathering That He Has Advised Against: Report’

“California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom attended a multi-family birthday party for one of his political advisers last week that reportedly included over a dozen people, which goes against the types of gatherings that his administration has warned people about having.”

“The dinner the night of Nov. 6 at the famed French Laundry in Yountville in Napa County brought together at least 12 people to celebrate the 50th birthday of Jason Kinney, a longtime friend and political adviser to Newsom who is also a partner at the lobbying firm Axiom Advisors,” The San Francisco Chronicle reported. “State guidelines limit gatherings, defined as ‘social situations that bring together people from different households at the same time in a single space or place,’ to no more than three households. Representatives for Kinney and Newsom declined to specify how many households the diners represented, but did not dispute that it was more than three.

The California Department of Public Health says that “gatherings that include more than 3 households are prohibited.”

A spokesperson for Newsom defended the governor’s decision to attend the event, saying that the event happened outdoors.

Newsom issued a statement, saying, “While our family followed the restaurant’s health protocols and took safety precautions, we should have modeled better behavior and not joined the dinner.”

The San Francisco Chronicle noted that Newsom has started to emphasize stricter coronavirus guidelines heading into the Fall and Winter months as cases continue to climb around the country.

“It’s for obvious reasons. People are letting their guard down,” Newsom said. “They’re taking their masks off. They’re starting to get together outside of their household cohorts.””

George Rebane

So now we hear from one of our leftwing worthies that they have discovered a whole $2M of Democrat unapproved expenditures that Trump's cabinet members have spent over the last four years in their travels. And, of course, none of that occurred under Obama when multiple planes took the family and daughters to various tropical vacation destinations. BTW, is the allegation that Trump's cabinet has been operating in "incredible secrecy" a new addition to their daily narrative. Wherever do they get this crap?

But hey, with a sharp pencil discovering $2M here and another one there, pretty soon we're going to come up with some real savings when Biden's boys and girls (reflcting America) take off on their travels. Pretty soon the national debt will be whittled down to nothing. Bidenomics in peace and war.

George is quoting Trump when he says "Pretty soon the national debt will be whittled down to nothing."

Trump quote

"We've got to get rid of the $19 trillion in debt," Trump told The Washington Post in April 2016, several months before the election he would win. "I think I could do it fairly quickly...I would say over a period of eight years,"

HMMM Actually debt increased to 27 Trillion in Trumps first 4 years...

"On Trump's first day in office (Jan. 20, 2017), the total U.S. debt stood at $19.95 trillion, up from the 11.9 trillion when Barack Obama was sworn in eight years earlier. As of Oct. 14, the debt under Trump had mushroomed to $27.1 trillion."

Hey Punch.....Trans Pacific Partnership is coming back under Biden.....

George, you missed the point of that thread. I am merely refuting Scott and Gregory's hystrionics over the cost of renaming some bases by pointing out the ever present double standards they bring to arguments, whining about a million bucks for an item they have been programmed to dislike when there is plenty of other wasteful spending to talk about.

Friday’s quotes a day late.

Insight: “No danger flowing from speech can be deemed clear and present unless the incidence of the evil apprehended is so imminent that it may befall before there is an opportunity for full discussion. Only an emergency can justify repression.” —Justice Louis D. Brandeis (1856-1941)

Touché: “The best way to raise money is just let Nancy Pelosi and AOC talk.” —House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy

Nothing to see here… “@realDonaldTrump has made it abundantly clear he’s more interested in pandering to his neo-nazi base than being @POTUS for all Americans.” —Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs in 2017

For the record: “[The U.S.] electoral system is the most archaic of all that exist in countries of at least some importance around the world.” —Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, hoping for a Biden win

The BIG Lie: “What Joe Biden got in this election was a mandate — a mandate to address the challenges that our country faces as well as to have a positive initiative on how to grow the economy in a fair way.” —House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Tone-deaf: “Stop the circus and get to work on what really matters to the American people.” —Nancy Pelosi lecturing Republicans after leading the collusion circus for three years only to switch to the impeachment circus and then the postal-mail suppression circus when it suited her purposes

Alpha jackass: “We’re all human beings with people we love that we want to see. But increasingly the entire Republican Party has basically taken the side of the virus and are actively trying to spread it.” —MSNBC’s Chris Hayes

Race bait: “[Trump] promised an elixir for the racial anxiety [of] millions of Americans spooked by a black man in the White House.” —Barack Obama

Non sequitur: “We need to require every K-12 school in America to include digital civics — how to determine and crosscheck if something you read on the internet is true — in their curriculum. You should not be able to graduate without it.” —NYT columnist Thomas L. Friedman (No doubt Friedman’s characterization of “truth” is as pure as his rag’s stories are factual.)

Non compos mentis: “I hope everybody moves to Georgia, you know, in the next month or two, registers to vote, and votes for these two Democratic senators.” —NYT’s Thomas Friedman encouraging voter fraud

Who needs the Constitution, anyway? “Please do not make the same mistake an otherwise well-meaning President Obama made in his first two years. … Charge in on January 20th like FDR on steroids. … Eliminate the Electoral College through the National Popular Vote Act! … Ratify the Equal Rights Amendment for women! … Send in the Army Corps of Engineers to Flint to replace the poisoned water pipes! … And none of the above needs a single vote of the United States Senate!” —Michael Moore to Joe Biden

And last… “Defund the police? Defund, my butt. I’m a proud West Virginia Democrat. We are the party of working men and women. We want to protect Americans’ jobs & healthcare. We do not have some crazy socialist agenda, and we do not believe in defunding the police.” —Senator Joe Manchin
