George Rebane
Actually, bamboozle is way too gentle of a descriptive for what was launched yesterday. This commentary would actually find a better home on the next entry into our Dark Days Diary, nevertheless … . Our new president spoke of stopping the lies inundating the nation, all the while heaping on new ones while bringing up old ones for another pass over the country’s psyche so that we could all unify in the glow of an inaugural speech that drove so many to tears, albeit for markedly different reasons.
While Seattle again enjoys Antifa’s tender mercies – this time at the state’s Democratic HQ – the Left’s nationwide destructive and murderous riots of last year are either forgotten or repainted with a fresh new coat of lies, Biden’s lamestream (yes, it’s his now) plays the 6jan21 Capitol assault video over and over again as undisputable proof of where lies the real danger to America and democracy. In his laughable attempt to focus on unifying the country, our new president is characterizing the country as in ruins and continuing crisis, all due to the mismanagement of his predecessor, who is the nation’s Supremacista Blanca El Primero.
And all 75+ million of us who voted for him, and at least that many more of our families, all of whom supported his policies and accomplishments, these now also carry the scarlet letters that label us all as white supremacists, racists, nazis (small n), and incipient domestic terrorists. For the Left we have become the country’s number one enemy to be sought out, identified, watched, isolated, and dealt with accordingly. Apparently, we have always been there (as RR comment streams attest), but now Donald J Trump has outed us by rising up as our leader so that the politically proper and prudent could finally see those around them who visibly rose up to support and cheer him on.
By continually citing their carefully formulated versions of our pernicious beliefs in an historically false America and our ongoing unabashed public behavior, the new administration will be free to fumble forth with all of its failures pre-attributed to the disastrous legacy of Trump abetted by his minions, still free to roam the countryside perpetuating perfidy and lies to counter socially just progressive programs and initiatives. This cannot and will not go on unanswered.
Of course, given the recent tendentious behavior of our Hispanics and blacks, even their own traditional constituencies are not to be completely trusted. The Left knows that these folks have been successfully bamboozled for years, and the possibility that they may now subscribe to a new pied piper is not to be discounted.
But the 800lbs gorilla in the room remains the November election which more than half of Americans have beliefs ranging from its having unexplained irregularities to outright ballot stuffing fraud. And all these feelings have been and continue to be reinforced by the establishment, first refusing to look at and substantively refute the presented evidence, and second then upping the ante to launch a national vilifying campaign against everyone who continues expressing concerns and thinks that the conduct of the 2020 election should get at least a small fraction of the kind of attention the Democrats mandated for the 2016 election in terms of countless congressional investigations, the involvement of DoJ and the FBI and its fraudulent use of FISA, various IGs looking into their spheres of purview, the Mueller special prosecutor investigation, and the still ongoing Durham probe.
All we hear from the Dems and their nascent Biden administration is that only racists, insurrectionists, and seditious domestic terrorists remain interested in having a transparent examination of the evidence. And, of course, no correctly thinking American should be beholden to such an irredeemable cohort of deplorables, no matter how many tens of millions they number. The Democrats demonstrated that they can roll out a couple of divisions of armed National Guard troops at a moment’s notice if there is even a faint (unfounded?) hint of public opposition to their new power structure. And in the meanwhile, as our liberal commenters remind us today, they will be taking our names and making lists for when the reckoning comes. That is who they are and have always been, now it’s their time to flex some muscle and really kick ass. This is their 'unification' program which will continue until we all unite to 'Sieg heil!' the victory of our new masters.
And our progressive neighbors already have us tagged in a "moronic convergence" of fascists and Nazis. Our country's unification is in full swing.

Among the list of agency actions to be looked at are two controversial rules that loosened restrictions for America's hunters and farmers -- one removing the gray wolf from the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and the other removing 2015 regulatory provisions that prohibited certain sport hunting practices "otherwise permitted by the State of Alaska" in its 10 national preserves.
Though legal under state law, critics and conservationists said the revised June 2020 "Alaska; Hunting and Trapping in National Preserves" rule was cruel to wildlife."

re George 6:10 - Gotta love that ven diagram. If you're a conservative Christian and believe that individuals can make a difference, that makes you almost full on fascist. I suppose the genocide bit is just a given after that. So much for national unity.
There is something fascinating about watching actual fascism taking hold of a nation while the same loudly scream about getting rid of 'fascists'. One result will be the bubbling to the surface of actual left-wing liberals. Folks such as the Weinstein bros, Joe Rogan, et al. I could easily join forces with them if necessary to start a new political movement. "People Who Aren't Insane" doesn't make a good acronym as a catchy party name but I'm sure some one who's had a few adult beverages can come up with some ideas.

Break Area for Thousands of Guard Troops Abruptly Moved from Capitol to Garage with Single Restroom
Politico reported that one day after the uneventful inauguration ceremony, Guard members were told to take their breaks in a parking garage "without internet reception, with just one electrical outlet, and one bathroom with two stalls for 5,000 troops."
"Yesterday dozens of senators and congressmen walked down our lines taking photos, shaking our hands and thanking us for our service," one Guard member told Politico. "Within 24 hours, they had no further use for us and banished us to the corner of a parking garage. We feel incredibly betrayed."

Might be off topic, but business is business. Nothing personal, man.
‘Slouching Toward Post-Journalism’
The New York Times and other elite media outlets have openly embraced advocacy over reporting.
(Kinda long, so here are the last two paragraphs)
“Revolutions tend to radicalization. The same is true of social media mobs: they grow ever more extreme until they explode. But the New York Times is neither of these things—it’s a business, and post-journalism is now its business model. The demand for moral clarity, pressed by those who own the truth, must increasingly resemble a quest for radical conformism; but for nonideological reasons, the demand cannot afford to leave subscriber opinion too far behind. Radicalization must balance with the bottom line.
The final paradox of post-journalism is that the generation most likely to share the moralistic attitude of the newsroom rebels is the least likely to read a newspaper. Andrey Mir, who first defined the concept, sees post-journalism as a desperate gamble, doomed in the end by demographics. For newspapers and their multiple art forms developed over a 400-year history, Mir writes, the collision with the digital tsunami was never going to be a challenge to surmount but rather “an extinction-level event.”
https://www.city-journal.org/journalism-advocacy-over-reporting
Posted by: Bill Tozer | 21 January 2021 at 07:58 PM
...as an aside, it's funny just how much *writing* used to be done for newspapers. 100 year-old papers are a wall of text, plus the prose was more charming.
I did like this turn of phrase from the Lewiston Evening Journal in 1897 from the 'Editor of the Arizona Kicker':
"Of the 400 men of Grass Valley we don't believe there are three perfect ones. There are more knockkneed, squint-eyed, humpbacked critters to the square foot in that town than anywhere else in America and we had the sand to say so when we reached the "Imperfections" in our lecture. Other lectures would have lied about it and tickled those slabsided koyotes half to death, but we gave 'em facts and came near losing our life in consequence."
Dunno where that fits into Mr. Crabb's Venn diagram.

The Left owns it all now.
“In anticipation of Wednesday’s inauguration, 25,000 National Guard have been deployed in and around D.C. to defend against right-wing mobs or would-be assassins. Three or four times as many troops are here in D.C. as there are U.S. troops in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria combined.
Now, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. And better too much security than not enough. But even given the Jan. 6 outrage, to arm our capital city as though Stonewall Jackson’s Confederates were going to march up Manassas Road and capture Abe Lincoln after the Union defeat at Bull Run seems a bit excessive.
Yet, Wednesday is a historic day. Trump will be gone from the White House and national power and responsibility will pass to the Democratic Party.
Democrats take over the House, Senate and White House. Virtually all major media will be in their camp. They will be welcomed in a city that has never elected a Republican mayor and has no Republicans on the city council, a city that voted for Joe Biden 18-1 over Trump. The 30,000 registered Republicans in D.C. are outnumbered 12-1 by Democrats.”........
“Calling Trump names will no longer cut it.
Now, Democrats must decide whether to proceed with the impeachment trial of Trump for inciting a riot that began on the Capitol steps as he was speaking a mile away, a riot planned long before the rally on the Mall.
Now, Democrats can choose whether they will forego extracting their pound of flesh as the first order of business in the Senate and let Nancy Pelosi sit a while on her impeachment resolution.
Now, Democrats have it all. If they wish, they can abolish the filibuster, pack the Supreme Court, make D.C. and Puerto Rico states, forgive all student debt, and vote for slavery reparations.
One reads that a caravan of thousands is forming up in Honduras to pass through Guatemala in the hope of reaching and crossing the U.S. border when Biden becomes president.
That, too, is Joe’s party’s problem now.”

They are riding the wave but will it peter out after overuse?
House Democrats plan to take advantage of corporate efforts to cut funding for Republicans who opposed certifying the 2020 election results, with a plan to target vulnerable members in the pivotal 2022 midterms for their role in the Jan. 6 violence.
Why it matters: It's unclear whether the Democrats' strategy will manifest itself in ads or earned media in the targeted races or just be a stunt to raise money for themselves. But the Capitol violence will be central to the party's messaging as it seeks to maintain its narrow majorities in Congress.

Something must be done legislatively in the states to conclusively re-establish faith in elections. No democracy can survive when 40% of folks think elections are not secure. PaulE 840am - a number of polls that report a small percent (~15%) Dems think that not everything was on the up and up with the election, and an overwhelming fraction of Repubs (>85%) have even more dour opinions about the election. The total comes to a little above half. You can find the polls yourself. And even if it were a bit below 50%, the point is made; that's very large number of Americans whose opinions need to be respected.

In fact the last time I read a poll, RCP had Susan Collins running behind in every poll except one, back in June, 2020 when it did not matter in the least for November. Behind all through July, behind all through August, September, way behind October and November. It was a walk on the park for Senator Collins. Inundating Collin’s office with wire coat hangers and death threats is how the Leftinistas win friends and influence people. :). It is soooooo Democrat Party of them, the party of the noose. Chapter one of Biden's soon to be written, "Art of the Bamboozle"
" Sucker the people with you lies."

In a Completely Unexpected Development, Biden Admits His Biggest Campaign Promise Was a Lie
"Breaking News: Joe Biden is a liar.
That’s a fact that’s been common knowledge for the majority of his career. Sure, he lies in a way that is acceptable to the beltway cocktail circuit, but he lies nonetheless. His lies are also far more consequential than most, usually dealing directly with major policy concerns.
Case in point? Biden is already admitting that his biggest campaign promise was a complete scam. Remember when he claimed he was going to “shut down the virus” if elected? Yeah, about that.
So why is this guy President exactly? The entire pitch of his campaign was competency and a change in strategy fighting the coronavirus. He claimed he had a “plan” that would immediately shift the trajectory of the pandemic, saving thousands of lives. He constantly attacked Trump, insinuating that the former president was holding back from doing basic things that were readily available to do. He was going to “shut down” the virus."

Walt 923am - Mr Branson, you should now pay particular attention to the way PaulE's cricket corps responds to this one.

What??,, What did you say George!!?? Can't hear you over the cicada bugs!!!! ( much more obnoxious and defining that crickets)

Walt @ 9:23 am
Biden never had a plan.

Dr. Rebane @ 10:53 am
So, you have to encourage bad behavior, eh? I draw you attention to a comment in the Sandbox.:
“One problem on this comments section, and I'm as guilty as anybody, is spending the time arguing with the Pauls of the world about Herbert Hoover, tax law, and one-time COVID payments.”
Posted by: scenes | 23 January 2021 at 08:19 AM on Sandbox.
I, too am guilty as anybody. Blood on my hands. Yesterday while reading Dark Days Diary or Biden Bamboozle Begins, I was most saddened that with all the major stuff going on, the threats to the 1st, 2nd, 4th Amendments, that the comments were on Hoover and (fill in the blank.).
I was more than saddened. I became disgusted, then worse—I became bored to tears and walked away. What great posts (DD Diaries and Biden Bamboozle) to discuss important issues and all for not. Replaced with diarrhea. There is a reason you keep the Sandbox going, even through you expressed your misgivings about the Sandbox twice now. So much so you were seriously considering removing the Sandbox from RR.
There is plenty of blood on my hands. One knock on Trump, especially towards the end, is he is undisciplined. My New Year’s resolution made just NOW, is to become more disciplined. See how that goes.

BillT 218pm - Good thoughts Mr Tozer. Yes, please do raise the Sandbox bar a bit for all of us to discuss issues of more moment.
Posted by: George Rebane | 23 January 2021 at 02:35 PM
Dr. Rebane @ 2:35 pm
I need to clear up my post. Topics in specified posts should not be turned into the Sandbox with a pissing match of who was the worse president after Harrison’s replacement.
Now, back outside to get while the getting is good.

For those who voted for Biden with medical conditions.

"As part of Joe Biden’s determined mission to undo Donald Trump’s presidency, his handlers he ordered the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Thursday to freeze executive orders from Trump designed to significantly lower prescription drug prices for Americans, including the potentially-life-saving drugs, insulin, and epinephrine."
Lefty vindictiveness has come home to roost.

First Biden spikes the cost of insulin. Great, I know people who can barely afford insulin right now. Just Google the high price of insulin is killing people or how many people have diabetes or have died from diabetics in just 2016 alone! Trump fixed that, but now Biden is killing the non-elite little guy in Scranton.
So, Biden’s healthcare plan includes killing people. Got it. What’s next? Cut off SICKLE CELL ANEMIA research??

Then Biden went after the poor impoverished Native Americans. Another broken treaty, another Great White Father in Washington speak with forked tongue. Remember Wounded Knee Creek? Just gives us your guns and all will be peace and unity. Then they opened fire.
‘Your Order Is A Direct Attack’: Native American Tribe Condemns Biden Administration’s Secretarial Order‘
“The Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation respectfully requests that you immediately amend Order No. 3395 to provide an exception for energy permits and approvals on Indian lands. The Ute Indian Tribe and other energy producing tribes rely on energy development to fund our governments and provide services to our members.
Your order is a direct attack on our economy, sovereignty, and our right to self-determination. Indian lands are not federal public lands. Any action on our lands and interests can only be taken after effective tribal consultation.
Order No. 3395 violates the United States treaty and trust responsibilities to the Ute Indian Tribe and violates important principles of tribal sovereignty and self-determination. Your order was also issued in violation (of) our government-to-government relationship. Executive Order No. 13175 on Consultation and Coordination with Indian Tribal Governments, and Interior’s own Policy on Consultation with Tribal Governments.
The order must be withdrawn or amended to comply with Federal law and policies. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. We look forward from hearing from you.”

Geeze, no wonder the far left now hates true Libertarians. It’s the ‘in’ thing on the Left to demonize them lately. Fake libertarians receive no blowback. Funny how that works.

‘This Biden pick for a top civil-rights job has an ugly history of hate’
“The liberal media blackout of the story about Clarke shouldn’t enable her to avoid scrutiny. More important, if Joe Biden means what he says about opposing hate, there should be no room in his administration for her.”

To the LIBERAL.... Another LIE.
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/01/27/joe-biden-to-ban-new-fracking-leases-on-federal-lands-despite-promise-not-to-ban-fracking/
"“I am not banning fracking. Let me say that again: I am not banning fracking,” Biden said in August 2020 during the presidential campaign. “No matter how many times Donald Trump lies about me.”"
"President Joe Biden will announce a ban on new oil and gas leases on federal lands and waters on Wednesday, according to several reports.
Biden’s decision bars any new fracking on federal lands despite his campaign promise not to ban the practice."
