‘Masks don’t work and are damaging to health’ concludes another panel of concerned physicians (here). “The only randomized control studies that have ever been done on masks show that they don’t work”, stated Dr Eric Nepute, one of the three physicians on the ‘Unmasking Covid-19’ panel who further agreed with the now widely held belief that imposing the wearing of masks 24/7 in public is also an autocratic population control trial by governments. Another panelist Dr Sheri Tenpenny referenced a mask-wearing study involving 25,000 German students where 68% of the subjects reported “some kind of impairment” from wearing masks. These kinds of pushbacks are starting to pop up all over the place as imperious governments issue C19 response diktats without supplying any of the supporting science that they claim to be ‘following’.
‘California’s Climate Contradictions’ include studies that present “New evidence that green policies punish the poor and subsidize the rich.” (here) California’s insane public policies cannot stand scrutiny wherever you take a more considered and serious look at them. Even the left-leaning non-profit Next 10 and Cal Berkeley’s Energy Institute at Haas concludes in a study that “California has charted an ambitious course towards decarbonizing its economy. At the same time, California has among the highest electricity prices in the continental U.S. These two facts create a tension: decarbonizing the economy most likely requires electrification of transportation and space and water heating, but high prices push against such a transition. High prices also have troubling implications for equity and affordability.” This is the strictly bottom-of-the-barrel thinking that we have come to expect from the state that ranks 50th out of 50 in doing anything beneficial for the taxpaying residents in its shrinking middle class.
Illegal aliens in California will get financially stimulated (here). If you crawl over/under our border fence and make it to California, you will be rewarded with cash money, and uncounted public welfare programs, with a promise of being shielded from federal apprehension, an eventual amnesty, and a direct path to American citizenship. All you have to do is remember which political party made possible open borders, illegal entry, and all the good stuff that followed. Democrats have given 'vote harvesting' a whole new meaning by implementing massive programs of 'vote planting' on the front end - yea verily, tomorrow ye shall surely reap what today ye sow.
[27feb21 update] I composed this little ditty for the Obama years way back in 2013. Things have not changed much today with the new Democrat administration and Congress in charge. And we voters have not become any smarter in the interval. Here is the updated version of it.

Creepy grampa joe thinks there is a numbers gap and he wants to catch up with sweeden -
The Lund University found the majority of convicted rapists in Sweden are of migrant backgrounds and nearly half of rapists born abroad in a landmark study which is one of the first of its kind in the high-migration level nation.
The study, which was published online on February 22nd, looked at a total of 3,039 convicted rapists and found that 59.3 per cent of the convicts came from ‘migrant backgrounds’

re: the Great Divide. Survey Sez:
PARALLEL WORLDS
“It is nice to see that Democrats are concerned about the economic damage from COVID shutdowns. That strikes me as their one point of contact with reality that emerges in this survey.
I wonder, increasingly, whether it is viable for America’s conservatives and liberals to continue sharing a country. It is one thing to disagree, quite another to inhabit different worlds altogether. In my opinion, the Democrats’ world is a fantasy construct. They might say the same about mine, although it seems hard to argue that illegal immigration, high taxes, etc. do not exist. But that reinforces my point. Do we, at this juncture, have not just enough shared experience, but even enough shared epistemology, to jointly govern a country?”

BillT 749pm - Contrary to the stagnant wisdom of progressives, for the last 20+ years we have had literally nothing in common of "enough shared experience" or "even enough shared epistemology to jointly govern a country" within a shared border.

I’ve been taking channeling lessons lately. I seem to have connected with someone from the 1780s, a guy named George William Frederick. He fancied himself as a king of England. Yeah, right!
I found out that 3 was his lucky number. His main complaint, though, seems to be that Americans were ticked off when he signed orders from his executive offices. And he thinks it grossly unfair and socially unjust, that Americans have not been nearly as upset at similar orders from our latest chief executive.
He does foresee one similarity between himself and our CEO though – late onset dementia.

Who's 'Regan' and what were his or her sins?
Posted by: Gregory | 28 February 2021 at 10:07 AM
Regan is the little girl in the 1973 film The Exorcist. What she said to the priest was definitely a sin...

Gregory 1007am - My dumb fingers were sinning again. Thanks Greg.

Fredos brothers attempt to stack the deck falls flat -
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The crisis enveloping Gov. Andrew Cuomo deepened Sunday as the state’s attorney general demanded he grant her the authority to investigate claims he sexually harassed at least two women who worked for him.
Democrats statewide appeared to be abandoning Cuomo in large numbers as Attorney General Letitia James rejected two proposals by the governor for an investigation of his conduct.
Under the governor's first plan, announced Saturday evening, a retired federal judge would have reviewed his workplace behavior. In the second proposal, announced Sunday morning in an attempt to appease legislative leaders, Cuomo said he had asked James and the state’s chief appeals court judge, Janet DiFiore, to jointly appoint a lawyer to investigate the claims and issue a public report.
But James said that plan didn’t go far enough, either.
“I do not accept the governor’s proposal,” she said. “The state’s Executive Law clearly gives my office the authority to investigate this matter once the governor provides a referral. While I have deep respect for Chief Judge DiFiore, I am the duly elected attorney general and it is my responsibility to carry out this task, per Executive Law. The governor must provide this referral so an independent investigation with subpoena power can be conducted.”

16 Billion for bakersfield to palmdale? Who wants to make that trip? WTF -
Kyle Simerly, a public information officer for HSRA, wrote in an email that the revisions would not add significant cost to the $15.7 billion project, nor would they alter the timeline. He added that HSRA hoped to begin construction as soon as possible, depending on when funds become available.

LA Times - "Plan would fund over $500K to breed 6 California condors to replace ones killed by wind turbines.
The energy company Avangrid’s proposed mitigation project predicts that up to two adult condors and each of their two chicks or two eggs will die by a fatal injury over a 30-year period.
The funds would be used to pay for an additional zoo employee, who would earn about $90,000 a year and rear the six condors until they are 18 months old, the newspaper reported."
Seems to be confusion (on my part) - headline says "killed by turbines". I understand that to mean that 6 have already been killed- as in past tense - as in, some time ago. Then the copy goes on to say "will die...over a 30-year period". Is this part of Mr. Biden's Green Deal?
This may be one of those high-paying jobs he is proposing. $90K ain't bad for something that hasn't happened yet. I'm waiting for him to propose one truth-upholding" election official for each voting precinct in blue states paying about the same. To replace those bad ol' oil drilling jobs.
