President Biden's approval rating among voters in the state of Iowa has plummeted in recent months.

More Iowans disapprove of the job Biden is doing than approve – Biden has a 43% approval rating and 52% disapproval rating, according to a recent Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll. Five percent of people polled said they are not sure whether they approve or disapprove.

“Groups like Defend Blackadore Caye and Bonefish & Tarpon Trust organized campaigns against the resort with reported $5M-$15M ‘living homes,’ research station, residents club, and an anti-aging center,” the paper reported.

DiCaprio has spent years acting as a climate change activist but has made headlines for various eco controversies, like in 2016 when he flew 8,000 miles across Europe and the U.S. on gas-guzzling private jets. It was just one month after he told the United Nations that “our planet cannot be saved, unless we leave fossil fuels in the ground, where they belong.”

The protesters also slammed DiCaprio’s claims that his plans are eco-friendly. They say his ideas are far less green than he and his developers claim.

“For DiCaprio to label this plan as environmentally conscious is just a sales pitch,” tour company operator Rebecca Arceo, adding, “He’s a complete hypocrite in my opinion. Fly fishing is a huge deal in Belize for the tourism industry. To call his plan green is totally disgusting.”

Locals were also incensed that a rich guy from Hollywood came to their homes and claimed he was there to “heal” them by building a resort for foreign millionaires, the Mail reported.

‘A Court Ruled Rachel Maddow's Viewers Know She Offers Exaggeration and Opinion, Not Facts’

"Maddow’s show is different than a typical news segment where anchors inform viewers about the daily news," an Obama-appointed judge ruled.

“Viewers expect her to do so, as it is indeed her show, and viewers watch the segment with the understanding that it will contain Maddow’s “personal and subjective views” about the news. See id. Thus, the Court finds that as a part of the totality of the circumstances, the broad context weighs in favor of a finding that the alleged defamatory statement is Maddow’s opinion and exaggeration of the Daily Beast article, and that reasonable viewers would not take the statement as factual. . . .

Here, Maddow had inserted her own colorful commentary into and throughout the segment, laughing, expressing her dismay (i.e., saying “I mean, what?”) and calling the segment a “sparkly story” and one we must “take in stride.” For her to exaggerate the facts and call OAN Russian propaganda was consistent with her tone up to that point, and the Court finds a reasonable viewer would not take the statement as factual given this context. The context of Maddow’s statement shows reasonable viewers would consider the contested statement to be her opinion. A reasonable viewer would not actually think OAN is paid Russian propaganda, instead, he or she would follow the facts of the Daily Beast article; that OAN and Sputnik share a reporter and both pay this reporter to write articles. Anything beyond this is Maddow’s opinion or her exaggeration of the facts.

In sum, ruled the court, Rachel Maddow is among those “speakers whose statements cannot reasonably be interpreted as allegations of fact.” Despite Maddow's use of the word "literally” to accuse OAN of being a "paid Russian propaganda” outlet, the court dismissed the lawsuit on the ground that, given Maddow's conduct and her audience's awareness of who she is and what she does, “the Court finds that the contested statement is an opinion that cannot serve as the basis for a defamation claim."”

Oh my. Looks like our local lefties just got pegged. They are not “reasonable viewers” without or without brains, lol

“In concluding that Maddow's statement would be understood even by her own viewers as non-factual, the judge emphasized that what Maddow does in general is not present news but rather hyperbole and exploitation of actual news to serve her liberal activism......”

“The judge's observations about the specific segment at issue — in which Maddow accused a competitor of being “literally paid Russian propaganda" — was even more damning. Maddow's own viewers, ruled the court, not only expect but desire that she will not provide the news in factual form but will exaggerate and even distort reality in order to shape her opinion-driven analysis (emphasis added):

....and the Court finds a reasonable viewer would not take the statement (Rachel Maddcow’s) as factual given this context.

The Courts also found that reasonable viewers know that Roberta Maddcow is full of beans, the magical fruit.

Portlandia has jumped into the top spot, overtaking Seattle is short order and leaving Berkeley in distant dust. But, Portland works for just fine. Portlandia is probably already out of date. Never mine.

Byron York's Daily Memo: Democrats' voter ID debacle

DEMOCRATS VOTER ID DEBACLE. We've known for many years that most Americans favor laws requiring voters to produce identification in order to vote. Democrats who passionately claim that voter ID is discriminatory do not have the public on their side.

Sometimes a new poll comes along at just the right time. And now, as Democrats push a draconian "voting rights" bill that would federalize elections under rules favorable to Democratic candidates, a new poll shows just how unpopular voter ID is. The poll came as Democratic Senator Joe Manchin pushed changes to his party's bill, including a provision to add a voter ID requirement.

On Monday, Monmouth University released a survey covering a number of voting proposals. Among the questions, the pollsters asked was: "In general do you support or oppose requiring voters to show a photo ID in order to vote?"

The headline is that 80 percent of those surveyed -- a huge majority -- favored photo ID. Just 18 percent said they opposed. That left just two percent who didn't know, which means that voter ID is an issue about which most Americans have a considered opinion.

Now look inside the numbers. Among Republicans, 91 percent supported photo ID. Among independents, 87 percent. And among Democrats, 62 percent. Democratic leaders in Washington know that a solid majority of their own voters support a measure some of them have been denouncing for years.

Looking at the results along racial lines, 77 percent of white voters supported photo ID -- and 84 percent of non-white voters supported it, too. Along educational lines, 69 percent of Americans with a four-year college degree favored ID, and 85 percent of those with no degree favored it. When divided by age, 78 percent of Americans age 18 to 34 supported it, 82 percent of those 35 to 54 supported it, and 79 percent of people 55 and older supported it. And on the income scale, 81 percent of people who make less than $50,000 a year supported ID, while 82 percent of people who make between $50,000 and $100,000 supported it, and 76 percent of people who make more than $100,000 supported it.

Bottom line: Americans support voter ID. They just do. And now, with Manchin's voter ID proposal and the Monmouth poll, Stacey Abrams, the failed Democratic candidate for governor Georgia who has become the party's voting-rights heroine, has flip-flopped on the issue and now says she not only supports voter ID but that she has never opposed it.

"That's one of the fallacies of Republican talking points that have been deeply disturbing," Abrams said on CNN recently. "No one has ever objected to having to prove who you are to vote. It's been part of our nation's history since the inception of voting."

Republicans were quick to point to Abrams has in fact long denounced voter ID. Look at this exchange on CNN from October 2018, when Abrams was running for governor:

QUESTION: Your opponent, Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp, says that those 53,000 voters can still vote on Election Day if they show an ID at the polls. Why is that not good enough?

ABRAMS: The problem is two-fold. One is that you have 53,000 who -- people who are being forced to go through unnecessary hurdles to prove their bona fides. But the second is that you have 159 counties, thousands of volunteer and paid poll workers who are going to be asked to substantially verify that these IDs are sufficient. And the challenges there is, this is a subjective standard...This is simply a redux of a failed system that is designed to both scare people out of voting and make it harder for those who are willing to push through, make it harder for them to vote.

As recently as this April, Abrams was making the same argument. Other Democrats, like Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock, are also trying to move away from earlier statements.

It's actually a healthy process. What is happening is that some party leaders had gotten so carried away with fringe proposals, surfing on the support of activists and Twitter voices, that they lost touch with the opinions of their own voters. Now, with Manchin and the Monmouth poll, they are becoming reacquainted with their voters' views. That's a good thing.

Quote unquote.

The Champ on the ropes is waiting for us to wear ourselves out, then bam, bam, out goes the lights. He is just biden his time.

Poll dancing.

‘The honeymoon is over for Biden as approval numbers drop, disapproval numbers spike’
As his term progresses, Biden's approval rating continues trending down at a rate significantly faster than that of his Democrat predecessors.

“According to the firm's May survey, Biden's approval numbers are trending down. Perhaps more importantly, his disapproval numbers are rising sharply.

In the Real Clear Politics average, Biden's approval rating has drifted down to 52.3% as of June 22, which equals his previous low as president. Meanwhile, his current disapproval average has spiked to 43.6%, just shy of his previous high, and up from 36% at the close of his first week in the White House. (One caveat: The majority of the polls factored into his latest averages do not reflect his recent performance in Europe.)

During a Monday appearance on "Just the News AM," McLaughlin repeatedly cited "upside down" support among independents as a particularly ominous sign for the future of the Biden presidency's popular standing. The president is now underwater among these crucial swing voters, with 47% approving and 51% disapproving. Just 44% of independent voters believe the country is headed in the "right direction," which McLaughlin says is likely a bellwether for 2022 voting patterns.

The president's approval has fallen to just 44% among white voters and 47% with likely 2022 male voters. Female voters, however, remain heavily pro-Biden, giving him a 59% approval rating, while a resounding 87% of African-American voters give him a thumbs-up.“

Ah, so now it's GOOD to send the feds into the crime-ridden cities.
What a different tune the Dems are singing!
This ought to be interesting to watch. What are they actually planning to do - 'stop 'n frisk'? Execute no-knock warrants? Ask politely that they turn in their illegal weapons?
Will we get a breakdown of skin color of those actually arrested?
Will 'underserved communities' be targeted?
Film at 11!

Scott O

To follow on with just how the feds will 'crack down' on gun violence:
Total hilarity - "Around $350 billion in federal funds will be used to hire additional law enforcement officers..."
So - they 'defund' the police at the local level and then the American tax payers back fill the gap. Pretty cool.
"“This is a historic amount of funding that the President is making available to cities and states through the American Rescue Plan to invest in a range of tools to reduce gun violence in their communities,” a senior administration told Time."
Yeah, all it takes is more and more money.
The gang bangers will learn quick. Shoot the place up and watch the pallets of money flow in. I guess the trick is to reward bad behavior and then the bad behavior stops?
And the best is for last -
"...the administration is also expected today to announce plans to implement a policy that revokes licenses from dealers the first time they violate federal law, according to Axios."
Ya mean like selling fire arms to known crack addicts who lie on their applications?

Where is our voting expert Emery?
I'm sure he has a real good explanation for this.
"California’s November 3, 2020 election was marred by significant voting and registration irregularities, says the Election Integrity Project® California, Inc. (EIPCa), the California Globe reported. There are 1.8 million more registered voters than eligible citizens and that’s only one of the irregularities."

George Rebane

Walt 510pm - To a progressive wearing their election-integrity blinders (e.g. PaulE), there can be no evidence of election fraud or irregularity until it is successfully prosecuted. That is a pernicious definition of reality that all leftists hold dear to their heart, no matter how strong is the extra-judicial evidence to counter it. And that is why for them the 2020 election was squeaky clean.

It looks to me like they just want people to time shift their car charging activities outside of peak usage hours...along with all the normal 'put your thermostat at 78 degrees, don't run your dryer, etc' sort of verbiage.

The sad thing to me is that the natural side effect of shortages is attempts to smooth the usage rather than to increase capacity ('smart' appliances, etc). You end up running the whole system at the ragged edge constantly, a funny side effect of getting clever with all of this. When it breaks, it's really gonna break.

Paul Emery

It as "squeaky Clean" according to Trumps Attorney General Barr as well who was quoted saying " "to date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election."

In particular, Barr mentioned one claim made by the president's supporters that voting machines were programmed somehow to skew the results. Barr said the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security looked into those allegations and said they had not found anything to substantiate them.

"We have too many charter schools and district schools that are not meeting the standards that are needed … to talk about caps and non-caps is just the wrong conversation. What we're capping is excellence."

Adams, a former captain in the New York City Police Department and the current Brooklyn borough president, was considered the front-runner heading into the primary vote, according to an average of recent polls. He has pledged to lead a crackdown on gun violence and reform law enforcement tactics even as he rejected calls among some contenders to "defund" the police.

Paul Emery

And then there's this report on the Republican investigation into Michagan elections who affirmed that there was no fraud. Here's a quote from the main autho of the report, Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Vulcan "no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud,"

From the Detroit News:

"Lansing — A long-awaited report on the 2020 election from a GOP-controlled Michigan Senate committee recommended that Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel consider investigating individuals who pushed false claims "to raise money or publicity for their own ends."

The suggestion was among the most striking details of the Senate Oversight Committee's recap of a months-long examination of the presidential election. The report was released Wednesday with its main author, Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Vulcan, saying he found "no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud," contradicting months of assertions from some members of his own party, including former President Donald Trump.

"The committee finds those promoting Antrim County as the prime evidence of a nationwide conspiracy to steal the election place all other statements and actions they make in a position of zero credibility," the report said.

In this discussion I am limiting it to opinions and input as to the Michigan Republican report on elections in their state which found no wrongdoing. Yes I read it Walt. it's only 40 pages-go for it. You can do it.

Here's the official conclusion from the report:

Election officials successfully conducted the November 2020 election, a remarkable achievement given the many challenges officials across the state faced in conducting the election. After the most extensive audits in state history, no evidence of intentional misconduct of fraud by election officials was discovered. Election officials should improve training and procedures to ensure better documentation of ballots received and tabulated, particularly in absent voter counting boards to reduce the number of precincts out of balance. Improvements in training, as well as use of the Qualified Voter File applications, requires a joint effort with local, county, and state officials, and will be a point of emphasis in training and application design for the Bureau of Elections in the current election cycle.

"Markle thinks she's produced something new, but she's done nothing original or even interesting. Masculine behaviors in boys and young men and traditional fatherhood aren't the problem. What is a problem in this society is children growing up without fathers and boys being told they are inherently bad or damaged."

"Meghan and Harry’s hubris and self-importance are reaching new heights as Meghan declares she is reimagining fatherhood for the world with her new children’s book. “Who cares what you think Walt. I certainly don't." Ah, the little boy whistling by the graveyard. At least Walt still takes to the man. Dr. Rebane rolls his eyes and answers paul empty when summoned. Paul emery should be grateful someone like Walt is willing to talk to him while he is in the penalty box.

All in all, sounds like another fine opportunity to go walk the dog. “I don’t care what you think”, roflmao. You needs you anyway!

Fact is indeed stranger than fiction. Rules for Radicals. Oh my.

White House Rewrites History With Claim That Republicans, Not Democrats, Tried To Defund The Police

Unfortunately for White House staff, the rest of the country isn’t as amnesic as their bossman Joe Biden, which is why when press secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday tried to pretend it was actually Republicans, not Democrats, who attempted to defund the police, it was easy to call hogwash.

The pants-on-fire moment came in response to a question from Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy, who asked about Biden’s new “comprehensive strategy to combat violent crime and gun violence” that includes a “whole-of-government approach” to hamper the flow of firearms, provide federal support for local law enforcement, and expand summer programming and job opportunities for young people.

Is the idea that criminals are going to stop committing crimes if they have a summer job? Doocy wanted to know.

Psaki’s response gets a handful of Pinocchios:“........

The left has lost the ability to critically think. Paul is a perfect example. The left are simply lemmings who always believe what CNN and the Democrats tell them. Such lack of critical thinking is actually ruining our country.

Critical thinking to the left means something different... more storytelling. You don't have to make sense.

Logic and Reason are too, well... white.

"Her attorney, H. Heather Shaner, said that in the months since her arrest, Morgan-Lloyd expressed willingness to learn more about U.S. history and ultimately "revisited" her ideas on government policy towards different racial and ethnic groups after reading books like Bryan Stevenson's "Just Mercy" and Dee Brown's "Burn My Heart at Wounded Knee." Seriously, it's hard to get more grotesque than a struggle session. Thanks Team Blue.

Did you read the direct post of the GOP Michigan Election Audit report on the election that was released yesterday? For you're convenience here's a link

Yeah Barry......you should stop right now, drop whatever it is you're doing, and read Punchy's link! This of course after he admits to not not reading links posted by others because as a retiree......he's far too busy!

“More from Idiot Land - "With Its Power Grid Under Pressure, California Asks Residents to Avoid Charging Electric Vehicles"”

California’s energy policies are a mess. Ostensibly committed to cutting CO2 emissions, the state shuttered its main nuclear power plant. California has invested massively in wind and solar energy, but since these technologies produce electricity only a minority of the time, California keeps the lights on by importing electricity from other states–electricity that was generated using the reliable sources that California ostensibly eschews.

Then we have electric vehicles. Currently, fewer than two percent of the vehicles on the road in the U.S. are electric. That percentage may be a little higher in California, but it is still miniscule. Nevertheless, California has enacted legislation that seeks to ban gasoline-powered vehicles beginning in 2035. Where the infrastructure will come from to support such a transition in the automobile fleet in the next 14 years is anyone’s guess.

Meanwhile, California’s grid is so inadequate that it can’t effectively charge the tiny number of electric cars already on the road. Newsweek reports:

“Green” energy policies are a disaster everywhere they are being implemented, but California will probably crash and burn before the other states that have gone down the “green” path.

Worth a read.

"I loved those first tours. Bouncing off a sweaty stage in an Edinburgh catacomb we then had to get to a gig in Camden by lunch the next day. We couldn’t fit all four of us and Ted’s double-bass into the VW Polo. I think it was Ben who drew the short-straw and had to follow by train with his keyboard. I remember blitzing it down the M6 through the night, the lads asleep beside me. We made it but my voice sadly didn’t, completely shot by exhaustion, I had to mime my harmonies. Being in Mumford & Sons was exhilarating......."

A New York appellate court concluded that "there is uncontroverted evidence" that Giuliani "communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with Trump's failed effort at reelection in 2020."

Well done Joe Biden....Looks like we have an infrastructure bill. that's something Trump PROMISED and didn't do.

Raw Story
Anti-CRT group spotlighted by Fox News circulates article from white nationalist website

Now that's an odd thing.

So basically the story is that Biden made an agreement with a group of senators.

Well researched Mr. Paul.

Now personally I think that 'infrastructure' bills are basically cover for a whole batch of government graft and misspending, but here's Paul's big story.

"We’ve struck a deal. A group of senators – five Democrats and five Republicans – has come together and forged an infrastructure agreement that will create millions of American jobs."

Paul Emery

Can you outline details on Trumps infrastructure bill that he promised?

Bill Tozer

“Biden was obviously tired, speaking in barely a monotone. He couldn’t pronounce “cognitive.””

Heck, Biden has no clue what ‘cognitive’ is, not to mention pronouncing the word.

BIDEN: "Those who say the blood of Patriots, you know, and all the stuff about how we’re gonna have to move against the government.”
"If you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons“

[But an unarmed mob almost just took over the government, Joe!]

"Can you outline details on Trumps infrastructure bill that he promised? "

Can you outline details on Biden's infrastructure bill that he got five Democrats and five Republicans to rubberstamp?
I wouldn't mind seeing a detailed version of the bill. You have seen it, right?

My favorite statement of the day...

"A talk given by a U.S. Naval War College professor on racial and gender issues argued that white privilege is akin to getting free Wi-Fi, an analogy that has drawn scrutiny in center-right circles this week."

Paul, does your white privilege feel like free Wi-Fi? or does it feel more like a Barcalounger? Just how does it feel?

Well, woke up this morning with a wine glass in my hand
Whose wine? What wine? Where the hell did I dine?
Must have been a dream I don't believe where I've been
Come on, let's do it again

Do you...you, feel like I do?
How'd ya feel?
Do you...you, feel like I do?

Column: The Media Proclaim Themselves ‘Infrastructure’

Barry Pruett

Well first off Paul, your link is a report that was approved by and written by the Democrat secretary of state of Michigan. So I don’t know where you’re getting this Republican thing. Secondly, your post evidences that you trust the government. Isn’t that special.

Paul Emery

Did you actually read it Barry? The Committee is a Republican majority committee and its is main author is Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Vulcan County. Are you contending that the State head of elections changed the report? If so can you link me to where you got that information?

Once again Barry here's a conclusion from the report:

"After the most extensive audits in state history, no evidence of intentional misconduct of fraud by election officials was discovered. "

Barry Pruett

Once again Paul, you trust the government. I don’t. Republican or Democrat. I don’t trust any of them. It is quaint that you still trust these self-serving politicians. We, the People, need to verify what the government is telling us. I don’t know why are argue with you…it is often so “shallow end of the pool.”

Barry Pruett

Paul. Did you read it? Second paragraph...first page...

"As the state’s chief election officer, the Michigan Election Law provides the Secretary of State [Democrat Jocelyn Benson] with the authority to prescribe the procedures with which audits will be conducted across the state."

Further, McBroom is not listed in the report at all. Where in the hell do you dream up this stuff? It is silly.

Barry Pruett

Oh. I understand now. Government auditing itself (Michigan) is good. Private individuals auditing government (Arizona) is bad. That's all you needed to tell me. Got it.
