George Rebane
You can fool some people most of the time; you can fool most people some of the time; and today you can also fool most of the people most of the time.
As ensconced in communist Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, the new Democratic Party has thoroughly embraced its dictum ‘Accuse others of what you are guilty.’ Nowhere has this been more profoundly demonstrated than over the last decade as the Democrats have started their short march to socialism. The notion of socialism was anathema in post-war American politics as demonstrated by almost daily reports of ruinous suppression of all human rights and freedoms that our Cold War enemies were imposing on their citizens. Now, going on three generations of the Left’s dominance in public classrooms, the nature of socialism has been obfuscated in the American mind so that at least half of our citizens view it as another viable form of governance that we should perhaps try.
All this has been built on a complex façade of lies designed to install a political monopoly based on constantly customized collective ideologies du jour from the Democrat Party that cascade through the various channels of the now propagandized lamestream media. A partial list of these very large, significant, and nationally consequential lies includes –
- Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election;
- Democrats are not taking America into socialism cum Marxism;
- C19 from a Wuhan virology lab has been a baseless rightwing conspiracy;
- HCQ and IVT are not useful for fighting C19;
- Today China is not America’s mortal enemy;
- Iran is not developing a nuclear weapon;
- Our Mexican border is closed and secure;
- There is no human crisis at our southern border;
- Raising taxes and regulations does not impact economic behavior;
- The 6jan21 Capitol invasion was a planned insurrection to topple government;
- BLM is a protest movement and not a Marxist political organization;
- America continues plagued by systemic racism; no progress made since 1964;
- America’s Left and its corporatist allies have not rolled back 1A rights and practiced cancel culture;
- The systematic destruction of black families and perpetuation of urban ghettos is the Republicans’ fault;
- Rolling back 2A rights from law abiding citizens will eliminate ‘gun violence’ such as ghetto murders and mass shootings;
- Police have been purposefully murdering blacks;
- America’s colleges don’t have racist admissions policies and welcome free speech;
- The biggest existential threat to America is climate change;
- There is a scientific consensus that preventable manmade global warming is occurring;
- The great American experiment was founded on the racist principle, promotion, and practice of slavery; today Critical Race Theory correctly teaches that America is still a racist country, and its teaching is not anti-American propaganda.
And finally, perhaps the biggest, most damaging, and enduring lie is that the solution to the all of humanity’s problems requires our embrace of collectivist governance at its most comprehensive scale possible. There, the admitted goal is achieving a Marxist-Leninist society populated by the “communist Man”, at which time government will naturally dissolve as the then altruistic humanity marches joyously into a future of eternal peace and plenty. (A similar list is always invited from our left-leaning readers.)
The first and foremost reason for failure is that, sooner or later, all collectives require establishment of a centrally controlling elite, be it a father/parent, chieftain, or politburo. The larger the collective in terms of members, the more complex are their economic, social, cultural, and ‘legal’ interactions. Beyond a large family or village, the comprehension of such a dynamic (model) becomes at first difficult, then faulty, and ultimately catastrophically unworkable. The inevitable solution to fix things is always to appoint a hopefully compassionate and wise tyrant with powers unlimited and expanding.
Since the input/output relations (‘do this, and that results’) of a human community are poorly known or at best unreliable, social orders, with distributed planning and control over smaller local affairs (e.g. democratic republics, capitalist open markets), are able to implement corrective feedback in a timely manner when things inevitably start going off track. But the centrally controlling tyrant (and his elite lackeys) can do no better at increasing the common weal for the simple reason that in a large collective (be it a country or a government bureau) human nature prevents the implementation and operation of corrective feedback loops. Why? Because the correction required to maximize a local (e.g. departmental, satrap’s) utility (i.e. measure of ‘good’) is always at odds with even the best formulated global utility for the entire collective. And since communications are always imperfect (and risky in an autocratic collective), when a problem arises on some lower level, the applied ‘fix’ is always such that the local vs the global utility is maximized. And the result is that people continue to suffer as the elite are forever puzzled why things aren’t working out – ‘maybe in the next 5-year plan things will be better’.
All this, as we have preached over and over, is avoided by what Adam Smith identified as the working of ‘the hidden hand’ in an economy populated by minimally controlled agents each attempting to maximize his own profit in an open market environment. In such social orders no sub-unit, be it the individual or a leaf on a tree, need understand the workings (model) of the entire system. He just needs to know approximately how his immediate neighborhood operates, and then have the freedom and security to make corrections when he has made or is about to make a mistake. The required minimum for such a social order is the Bastiat Triangle of Rights (q.v.) It was ever thus, and will be unto the end of time. Amen.
[4jun21 update] ‘What Happens When Doctors Can't Tell the Truth?’ This explosive article was linked by a reader in the comment stream below. It also needs to be pointed out in the body of this post about the evils of the Democrat Party. Everything reprehensible that is happening in medicine now has its roots firmly planted in today’s radical leftwing ideology embraced thoroughly by Democrats. Today “whole areas of research are off-limits. Top physicians treat patients based on their race. An ideological 'purge' is underway in American medicine."
A commenter under the posted article sums up what is happening in America’s healthcare industry under the destructive push cowardly wokesters in high places. “This is extremely serious: the turning away from excellence in admissions to health programs, the almost panicky drive to admit often underqualified members of protected groups to residency programs to avoid charges of "racism", the primacy of identity over clinical excellence, etc all these are creating a new ‘Dark Age’ in medicine, where the grossest incompetence and quackery are celebrated. Patients are beginning to rightly fear interacting with a medical system that is actively abandoning any pretense of treating ALL patients with compassion and skill.”
George, there should be room in your list for an explicit mention of CRT...

Can you give us a historical perspective as to the last six countries that have made the transition from Democratic Republics such as us to a full Communist Marxist state as you predict we sill become if we continue to have a Biden or similar led Democratic administration? Can't think of any off hand in the last 30 years or more so I need your help. New Zealand fro example is a full Socialist Country by your description and it seems just fine with no problems with civil liberties and freedom etc.

PaulE 1230pm - Looks like you're again back in the 'if ain't happened yet, it ain't gonna happen' mode. Many former kingdoms and colonies have gone to communism after shedding their kings and colonial masters, all through great human suffering before stabilizing in their separate forms of totalitarian human misery. And those democratic republics currently on the path to ever increasing collectivism, do you think that their populations are enjoying more freedoms and self-determinism with each passing year? The ones who are most on their financial asses are the ones who are most severely tightening the screws on their citizens.
A question for you socialists is which proto-socialist countries have improved the lots of their citizens by becoming more socialistic? and which have achieved such improvements by backtracking from socialism to capitalism?

ummmm... 106pm... that's Uncle Milty Friedman
That was a good year for him and Rose. Free to Choose, the book and the PBS mini series, brought many to his ideas. I'd read some of his stuff in college (Capitalism and Freedom was one) but actually seeing him present freedom with numbers from the US budget was an eye opener... and in the series, the interview with a bureaucrat rationalizing a fortune spent on subsidizing tobacco growing and distribution with a fortune spent on trying to keep people from using tobacco was particularly infuriating... 'its democracy in motion, all sides get a say'... while billions were wasted.
We need a new Milton Friedman. Thomas Sowell is close but I'm not sure what public intellectual will take his place when he joins the choir invisible.

This is not the first time this claim appeared online. In 2020, opinion columnist Tim O'Brien tweeted two pictures juxtaposed: On the left was Biden, then the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, and his wife laying a wreath at a veterans park in Delaware, and on the right was Trump golfing. The caption read, "Different approaches to Memorial Day."
But Trump didn't spend Memorial Day 2020 on a golf course.
Trump did go golfing on May 23, 2020, the Saturday before Memorial Day. It was his first round since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
The picture shared on social media was taken that day at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va. Trump returned to the golf club on Sunday, May 24 as well.
Our rating: False
We rate the claim that Trump spent Memorial Day 2020 golfing FALSE, based on our research. Trump spent time at his golf resort in Virginia that weekend, but on Memorial Day itself he attended ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and Fort McHenry National Monument. On Memorial Day 2020, Trump visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, just as Biden is shown doing in the 2021 picture on the post.

A good night snack -
Simply put Democrat: it's when one thing makes another thing happen. For example, when Kat drinks too much tequila, she doesn't go to work the next day. That’s cause and effect. Then she stays home and watches "Forensic Files" all day, which makes her depressed. Cause and effect. Then she starts abusing horse tranquilizers. Cause and effect. Which is how I sold all those horse tranquilizers. Cause, and amazing effects.
See, cause and effect can lead to bad things, if you don't consider the consequences of your actions. For example: if you remove consequences to criminal acts, criminals will commit more crime! But if you punish crime -- crime goes away. Cause and effect!
You probably saw this horrible attack in NYC. It's one of many! The insaniac who punched her had been arrested 17 times, but bail reform, today, means no bail. And no jail. It's catch and release with fiends, instead of fish. The upside: the prisons aren't overcrowded. Downside: Chinatown emergency rooms are. That’s cause and effect.
Cause and effect - example 2. Mayor de Blasio cut 90 plus million dollars that was meant to build a new police precinct. Because police are bad! Screamed the media. Even the ones that guard their studios. But in the last five months, NYC has had 531 shootings - up from 295 in the same time frame. I'd do the math, but I’m too important for that. So now the mayor is reinstating the money for the precinct. We could have told him that would happen. We actually did. But apparently we were drowned out by the voices in his lumpy googly-eyed head.
Cause and effect, example 3. Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, once pushed to cut the police budget by $22 million. Now he's proposing a $27 million increase. Wonder why? Well, homicides are up 17 percent. Cause and effect. Defunding, reducing the police force, and more people died. Probably minorities. But to libs, addition and subtraction is harder than calculus So as crime increased and law enforcement was vilified, what did we predict?
Example 4. More first-time gun buyers - me included. Ironically Democrat mayors are causing gun sales to increase. The New York Times just admitted this: roughly one-fifth of all gun purchasers last year were first-timers. And it ain’t old white boys like me. Nope, "half were women, a fifth were Black, and a fifth were Hispanic." And they were younger. And trying to take those guns increases the likelihood they’ll vote Republican. I do love that half the new purchases were from women. Now that's an accessory. It beats a fitness tracker. The highest concern for purchase was "personal safety." Apparently, guns are the new seat belts in 2021. And fewer people said it’s for sport and recreation. Today that's like calling my purse a messenger bag.
See - after the politicians and media decided to make your communities less safe, it's up to you to provide your own security. See - a White liberal doesn't need a gun to do damage. All he needs is a poisonous idea and a little power - and it will destroy communities quicker than 5000 Democrats moving to Huntsville. And they'll do it without a second thought. (Because they almost never have a second thought).
Look at Portland, Oregon. But not for too long - the flashbangs will burn out your retinas. According to John Nolte of Breitbart -on May 12th, it recorded its 30th murder of the year, that's five times more than were recorded during the same period in 2020 --This after last year Portland’s city council cut the police budget by nearly 15 percent. By the end of April, they had twice the number of shootings. And according to their hapless, pathetic mayor - who had to flee his own condo - the city had an 85 percent decline in downtown foot traffic. Unless you count the people running for their lives. Most of the remaining foot traffic is Antifa. And even when those creeps are arrested the DA declines charges like they’re a collect call from Hunter Biden. Cause and effect.
This seems like the easiest thing to learn. But not a single Democrat, can. We knew that Antifa - or as Joe Biden calls them "an idea" - being allowed to destroy a city, would destroy a city. We knew pushing the defunding of police and branding them psychopaths would weaken the forces - and lead to emboldened criminals and minority victims. They bear the brunt of this. You didn't have to be Miss Cleo to see this coming.

‘Fibbing Fauci Shows He’s Just Another Crisis-Loving Intellectual
“A few months into the COVID pandemic, an acquaintance of mine got an adorable puppy and named it… Fauci.
Admittedly, it is kind of a cute name for a dog. But after the past several days’ news reports, I’m wondering whether my acquaintance will choose a new moniker for that poor puppy sometime soon.
For those who haven’t heard—perhaps thanks to certain media outlets turning a blind eye—a number of Anthony Fauci’s emails were recently released to the public via a Freedom of Information Act request. The emails reveal that Fauci was a master of doublespeak, saying one thing privately in emails, but expressing the exact opposite to the general public. Since those public directives have influenced our lives since early 2020, often for the worse, it is reasonable to ask why Fauci blatantly lied and misled the general public.
But what exactly did Fauci lie about?“

You can put a fork in defund the police -
Those reform efforts have largely stalled, however. Cities have backed off their plans to transform their police departments. The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act has stalled in the Senate. Public support for the Black Lives Matter movement has dipped. Meanwhile, the country has experienced an unprecedented spike in violent crime over the past year, which some experts say could shift political winds away from police reform.
Homicides increased somewhere between 25 percent and nearly 40 percent last year, the largest year-over-year jump on record. That trend has shown no sign of reversing in the first few months of 2021. Crime was one of the defining issues in American elections for decades, but a dramatic decline in the U.S. murder rate since the early 1990s has allowed other topics to move to the center of debate. With violence once again on the rise, crime has reemerged as one of the most important issues to voters. In a recent Yahoo News/YouGov poll, half of Americans said violent crime was a “very big problem,” a higher percentage than those who said the same about COVID-19.

Ah, but the beat goes on. There were never more than a handful of insane asylums formally known as cities that actually 'defunded' their police. But because these were very large and important cities, it looked like a 'thing'.
The actual damage is still ongoing - look at the early retirements and open positions in major city PDs. The cops are leaving because who the hell wants to face death every day with almost every traffic stop and not only get no backup from the city but possibly be sent to prison for merely trying to defend yourself or other innocent citizens? There is an effect to all of this in these cities and maybe eventually it will get straightened out but between the Soros-installed DAs and the 'woke' BS at city hall - there's a long way to go.

What happens when an shrink tells her truth?
‘Psychiatrist Described ‘Fantasies’ of Murdering White People in Yale Lecture’
A psychiatrist delivered a lecture at Yale University’s Child Study Center in which she described her “fantasies” of murdering white people, a recording of which was posted by journalist Katie Herzog on Substack.
The lecture, entitled “The Psychopathic Problem of the White Mind,” was delivered on April 6 via Zoom. A flier for the lecture described its “learning objectives” as understanding “how white people are psychologically dependent on black rage.”
“I had fantasies of unloading a revolver into the head of any white person that got in my way, burying their body, and wiping my bloody hands as I walked away relatively guiltless with a bounce in my step. Like I did the world a f***ing favor,” the lecturer, Dr. Aruna Khilanani, said at one point in the talk.
“We keep forgetting that directly talking [to white people] about race is a waste of our breath,” Khilanani said. “We are asking a demented, violent predator who thinks that they are a saint or a superhero, to accept responsibility. It ain’t gonna happen.”
“I actually think that conservatives are psychologically healthier” than liberals, Khilanani told Herzog. “They are more in touch with their anger and negative feelings. They can articulate it. They can say it, they’re not covering it up. . . . There’s not all this liberal fluff of goodness.”

HAS THE LAB LEAK HYPOTHESIS BEEN PROVED?
“Senator Tom Cotton and others were excoriated for suggesting that the possibility that the Wuhan virus escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology should be investigated. Not only have such suggestions been denounced, until last week, Facebook did not even allow the idea that the coronavirus originated in a Chinese laboratory to be discussed.
Over the last couple of weeks, a consensus has emerged that the lab leak hypothesis is plausible and definitely deserves investigation. This is not, however, because anything new has come to light in recent days. Andy McCarthy argues that not only is the lab leak theory plausible, it has already been proved to be correct beyond a reasonable doubt. He makes a strong case:”
https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2021/06/has-the-lab-leak-hypothesis-been-proved.php
Addition: I find it rather interesting to note that of the 1,000s of animals tested at the Wuhan wet market and 1,000s more tested in the hills and dales and caves in the Wuhan surrounding countryside areas and the 1,000s of animals found and tested on Wuhan’s streets and neighborhoods, one very worthwhile piece of evidence really jumps off the page: the bats of Wuhan are very poor carriers of the virus. No bueno. Not good candidates to use to study the virus. Not suitable, does piss poor job of carrying the virus and/or becoming infected with said virus. Reckon they are safe to eat. Learn something new every day.

Sewing the seeds of their own demise -
The college-trained progressives in Joe Biden’s White House are creating a bipartisan revolt by ordinary, middle-class Americans, says Joel Kotkin, a left-of-center California demographer who has long been critical of Silicon Valley’s political demands.
“A specter is haunting America, a great revolt that threatens to dwarf the noxious rebellion led by Trump … a new middle-class rebellion against the excesses of the Left,” Kotkin says in a June 4 article for Newsweek.
This new middle-class rebellion is being bolstered by a wide-ranging intellectual rebellion by traditional liberals against the Left’s dogmatism and intolerance. Indeed, what we’re about to see has the potential to reprise the great shift among old liberals that had them embracing Reagan in reaction to the Left’s excesses of that generation.
Biden’s policies on race, housing, hiring, “equity,” and crime are deeply unpopular among many Americans, whether white, black, or Latino, he argues. Biden is similarly losing the middle class on immigration,” he wrote.
He said the Democrats’ education, anti-patriotism, crime, energy, and jobs policies are also harmful to many ordinary Americans:
Major pushback on how the progressive Left sees American history is also brewing. Americans by and large remain patriotic, including the poor and working class. This patriotism stands in stark contrast to the prevailing view among progressives, which casts America as the intrinsically and irredeemably evil spawn of slaveholders and racists. This simply does not constitute a popular program to the middle and lower classes, a gap that could become more and more meaningful—especially as the message of the Left spreads.

'How Ending Freedom Of Expression Gives Up Your Right To A Private Life'
You don’t get your thoughts in a vacuum. You have to be able to freely associate with others who speak freely in order to develop thoughts, and even to develop the ability to think on your own.

Evil is quite a strong term. In my naïveté, I have been holding out hoping that some folks just can’t put two and two together, do not see things the way I do, are foolish and destructive....but they are not evil. However, when I consider our current VP and all the top notch briefings she has been given on the topic (as a person in her position receives regularly), stupid does not apply. It’s something else.
