LA Times columnist called out for using 'Latinx' term to describe Hispanic population
Only 3 percent of self-identifying Hispanics use the term 'Latinx'

On Sunday, Guerrero tweeted out "Democratic outreach to Latino voters on the California recall election is not working. I've been speaking to young Latinxs and almost none of them have any idea what is going on. This is really, really bad.

Ron DeSantis' press secretary Christina Pushaw tweeted "Keep calling them ‘Latinxs,’ I’m sure that will help your outreach efforts. Florida Democrats should also adopt this term immediately in all communications."

"White liberals incorrectly calling Latino people ‘Latinx’ to be woke is *actual* cultural appropriation. I guess it actually does exist…," wrote Washington Examiner writer Brad Polumbo.

Pollster Frank Luntz shared a Pew Research Poll showing 76 percent of Latino adults have never heard of "latinx" and wrote, "If a political group uses the term ‘Latinx,’ it’s a telltale sign that they’re not in touch with Hispanic Americans."

"NBC Poll Is All Bad News for Biden, Congressional Democrats"

Bill Tozer

Oh no. Not the Elder Statesman!

‘MSNBC Madness: Larry Elder Will Make Life Harder for Black Californians, Cause Hate Crimes’

“The columnist bullied Californians to vote no “regardless of how they feel” about Newsom because he’s “done the best he can.” Because she believes voters can’t think for themselves, Guerrero again hammered home her hateful message that electing Elder would “set a nightmarish precedent that would reverberate across the United States and be especially devastating for black and Latino people across the country.”

Divorced from any sort of rational analysis, Guerrero finished out the interview by further claiming Elder would “lead to a rise in hate crimes” because he used “dehumanizing terms” like “illegal alien” instead of “humanizing” terms like “undocumented:"”

Hmmm. We should vote NO to giving Gavin the ole heave ho regardless how we the voter ‘feel’?? Did I get that correct? I don’t think that’s how a democracy works. Go pound sand.

‘NBC Now BURIES Bad Poll Signaling ‘Forever Stain’ on Biden Presidency’

“One would think that such a declaration would grab the attention of Todd’s NBC colleagues and guarantee that Biden’s sinking poll numbers would receive continued network coverage. Instead, just hours later, Sunday’s Nightly News found no time to even mention the President’s growing unpopularity. Despite having a full two hours, Monday’s Today show also lacked a single second on the poll – though it did manage to offer nearly three minutes on the ongoing search for a new Jeopardy host.”

Hmmm again. Not exactly a ringing endorsement from Chuck Toad. Did he really have to bring up Biden’s handling of C-19 and the economy?

“Seeming to try to reassure the administration, Todd argued that it was Biden’s incompetence on other issues beyond Afghanistan that were the real drivers of his polling plunge:

But the President’s overall slippage is less about Afghanistan than about two other issues. Approval of his handling of the coronavirus is down a whopping 16 points – just 53% approve now, from 69% in April. And approval of his handling of the economy is standing at 47% – that’s upside down now because it was at 52.“

Bad trends for gavin -

Republican gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder surged past California Governor Gavin Newsom in Google searches as the race to recall the embattled Democrat governor intensifies.

Elder has surged past Newsom in Google search inquiries over the last two weeks, according to Google Trends, suggesting that Newsom’s most prominent Republican challenger for his job is growing in notoriety as Election Day approaches.

When broken down, the search data shows the top three related searches for Elder are "Larry Elder for governor," "Larry Elder running for governor," and "Larry Elder for governor website."

Meanwhile, the top related searches for Newsom revolved around his highly-publicized French Laundry scandal, with "Gavin Newsom French Laundry" taking the top spot.

Following the French Laundry scandal search – where Newsom was spotted maskless at the high-end restaurant for a lobbyist friend’s birthday dinner amid California’s strict COVID-19 measures – are "Gavin Newsom Thanksgiving" and "Gavin Newsom dinner."

The incoming recall appears to have rattled Newsom, who recently snapped during an interview that everyone "outside this state is b----ing about this state."

Minutes later, Antifa members pepper-sprayed her, knocked her to the ground, and reportedly broke her phone and damaged her camera, yelling, “How many times do we have to f-cking tell you?”

Just a heads-up on the fire at Bennett in Grass Valley. Multiple spot fires. 'Full wildland dispatch'

Surprisingly, on the scanner, two male transients were seen leaving the area. Worth a listen if you are close enough to care.

In the category of "Goombahs R US". Eric Prince, whom I am sure you are all familiar with, is only charging $6,500 per seat to evacuate people from Afghanistan on his chartered flight. He claims for this price you also get a ride to the airport, although there is no proof of anyone as yet has gotten there. You gotta love that family. They really know how to make money off other people's misery.

Scenes.. If you were listening the previous fire down here in PV was a stone's throw away. My Truck is speckled in retardant. This one is "out". As the Bennett St. fire was dispatched, most of the GV trucks left here screaming down the road to get back home.
The black smoke from GV is visible from here.

No, it's not getting any better up there.
Whispering Pines now getting e-vaced.

So Bobby,, that's YOUR administration for ya'.

zones E280 / E222 evacuation.

note: at least the tankers won't have far to fly.

Scenes, do they bother to retract the landing gear?
I'm watching the same thing.
The call went out for every firefighter to head to their respective stations, county wide.

Thanks Joe! You guarantee votes for Larry Elder

I was heading up to brunswick to get a haircut near grocery outlet, saw the beginnings of the smoke. By the time i parked and checked they got an evac alert came out and yelled we are evacuating NOW! Absolute mess of bad drivers who cant merge properly.

I slid out and cut back by the movie theater and popped out by safeway. Gridlock as they closed 49 and those cars getting added to the chaos.

Now its 60 acres. Prayers for GV!

Nothing like yelling "FIRE" in a crowded parking lot.
It was pandemonium down here as well. Gotta send the air tanker base a case of beer. They saved our asses today.

Yes, they retract their gear asap.

Bill Tozer

My tale of fire.

As most of you know, I rarely go to GV, maybe once a month, sometimes twice, but not often.

Need to pick up RX today cause tomorrow with be busy with the tooth doc. Anyway, left the humble abode @ 3:30 headed up to GV, got off at Idaho-Maryland. Plan was to hit a store on Idaho Maryland and then up Sutton to Rite-Aide (Thrifties). Saw a fire captain or chefs vehicle talking to two older shirtless potbellied drunks/homeless. They were on foot. Them old boys needed a shave, a haircut, and a shower. Anyway, I pulled into the store on Ida-Mary just as they locked the doors. Evacuating. Darn, I was still before the fire and timing was off by 30 seconds. I continued heading up to Rite-Aid and suddenly they closed it off at Sutton. What timing. Took awhile to do a Uy but people were patient and it was a beautiful afternoon with nice a nice shot of the smokestack plum. So, I made it back home. Talk about timing. All of a sudden there are 5-7 cars coming up the wrong road (the bad road). Few take the bad road if they don’t have to. We take the ‘good road.’ Traffic out there! Rarely see anybody come up the bad road, maybe a couple times a day. And they are driving shiny new cars and turning around farther up and what the hay is going on? sez Mr.T.

Come to find out and unbeknownst to me, Hwy 20 got closed off at Mooney Flat right after I got to my humble abode. So, I walked out and talked to this fine young lady in a fine car and when started to apologize for some reason, I stopped her. What’s going on? She explained that the traffic is backed up for miles . She did not know why, I figured a bad accident cause Indidn’t see smoke that direction. I smiled and said, “You are not the first one, nor will you be the last.” I wished her good luck making a left on the Highway. :)

Realtors, plumbers, cement trucks, even county building department guys, animal control, and others all use Google maps. Google Maps still has the end of my road going through to a back way which you can work your way to Big Oak Valley and out near Hamilton-Smartsville Rd if 20 E is closed. That road has been closed-blocked off for years, ROFLMAO. I sure would not want to drive a nice shiny low to the ground car on the bad road, then up to the top. No place to turn around, very rocks, very narrow, very rough....and back back down. Even speeders can’t speed.

Bill.. A nasty wreck at Wild Turkey.
Two life flight choppers landed at the PV park.
(They got there at the same time no less)

As for the air takers,, we have a lady pilot in one of the birds. A real pretty voice coming across the airwaves.
She helped keep our place from frying today.
Just got back from washing the retardant off my truck it got douched with.

The Chinese government seized on a scheduling delay during Vice President Kamala Harris’ ongoing trip to Vietnam to undercut the White House’s planned outreach regarding COVID-19 vaccine supply, according to a report Wednesday.

Harris was set to announce a U.S. donation of one million doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine as part of a broader effort to cultivate closer ties with Vietnam and counteract Beijing’s influence in the region.

When Harris’ team experienced a three-hour delay ahead of her planned meeting with Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, China sent its own diplomat to meet with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and offer two million vaccine doses, the Washington Post reported.

Bill Tozer

Darn Walt. I heard the spotter plane and a bigger plane earlier today, but I didn’t bother to look up. The dogs were howling at the sky, so they picked up on the sirens up at your abode. I heard a bit of a ruckus, but it was not overhead so I didn’t even bother to check what the tarnation is going on.

Hey, what does fire retardant taste like? Did the red stuff that fall from sky get your vegggies? Probably won’t hurt squash. Been hacking my squash back. Too much love and too much of a good thing. Easier to toss them.

So Walt, I guess you don’t need any prune juice after today’s excitement. A fire that close with clean you out. :)

They still are coming up the back road. Blue pickup just went by, but the lower road won’t take you to the old pack way to the range either. He must be heading to the lower road. Another blocked road with no signs.

Well, here she comes now. Lady in a Subaru. County looking, blonde. Alone. I saw her stop in front of the humblest of abodes and she must have been checking her Mapquest or Google Maps. She is heading back down now. I would gladly be a neighborly fellow if the would roll down their windows and ask a question, like where am I? My road ain’t marked with a sign, lol

But, nooooo. They think they know it all and drive a lot more humble as I wave to them goodbye with a big grin and there sour faces.

Shit. There does a white Mercedes! Wonder what she looks like. I will find out in a few minutes.

Get out the lawn chair and sell cool-aid.. Maybe roadmaps? at 5 bucks a shot.

The boy aint gettin no love and the votes are happening in real time OH MY! -

Voters are too preoccupied to pay attention, said Christian Arana, a vice-president of the Latino Community Foundation. And that’s especially true for the Black and Latino voters who help propel Democrats to power year after year. Polls suggest that white, conservative voters will dominate the recall, while voters of color stay home.

“Latino communities are still being affected by this virus, especially with a Delta variant going on. We’ve continued to see deaths within our community,” Arana said. “This recall election is just not on our mind, because we’re so busy dealing with the pains and traumas of this virus, and its economic consequences as well.”

Latinos account for 39% of the population, and about 28% of registered voters. While Latinos voted for Newsom by an almost 2-1 margin in 2018, the CBS News poll found that among likely voters, about half of Hispanic voters would vote to recall Newsom.

Don @ 9:47 pm. Folks don’t like the Elites right now.

You can tell when you are over the target by the amount of flack. Those Crazy Kalifornia Lefties are a bunch of worry warts. Come on. Governor Newsom will never get recalled. Heck, R’s are now only 24% of the state. I am behind the times. Thought we had 29%. Anyway....what are the odds? Blue, bluest of blue and biggest of all the Lefty Big Blue States with a R Governor. Impossible. Still, the flack is getting thicker.

With the odds of Gavin Newsom being recalled in three weeks looking too close to call, the left is panicking about the possibility that Larry Elder might become the next governor of California. A conservative black as the governor of the largest state, making a strong case day by day against progressive government, is the left’s worst nightmare. Hence, they have to stop him. Supposedly he is being investigated for the failure of inaccurate reporting of income. Sometime soon I expect there will be a Me, Too allegation made against him, perhaps by Christine Blasey Ford herself.

The Los Angeles Times, a former newspaper, is going all in for the left on this one. Here’s a sample their “news” and editorial coverage of Elder:

Sure 26 paid shills lying about Trump. Do you think anyone believes that? Here's the list.

At least 26 women have accused President Donald Trump of sexual misconduct since the 1970s.

Renewed attention was brought to the allegations amid the #MeToo movement and a national conversation concerning sexual misconduct.
Trump has repeatedly denied the accusations, denouncing his accusers as "liars."

In June 2019, columnist E. Jean Carroll accused President Donald Trump of sexually assaulting her by forcing his penis inside her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the mid-1990s.

And in September 2020, model Amy Dorris said that in 1997 Trump forcibly kissed her, groped her all over her body, and gripped her tightly so she couldn't get away.

‘The Gavin Newsom Recall Undermines The Democratic Party’s Plans To Californicate America’
The California model is dead, no matter what happens in the recall, and thus so too is the progressive agenda.

“For much of the last decade, journalists have described “the California model” of high taxes, strong regulations, and aggressive action on climate change as the progressive template for the rest of the United States. After voters elected Donald Trump president in 2016, they elevated California as the leader of the national resistance to his administration and agenda. And in January reporters noted that “California is emerging as the de facto policy think tank of the Biden-Harris administration and of a Congress soon to be under Democratic control.”

But with growing evidence that California voters may recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom from office next month, the tenor of news media coverage is starting to change. CNN yesterday aired a segment headlined, “Democratic Support for California Gov. Gavin Newsom Is Dwindling.” In it, three lifelong Democratic women in Los Angeles said they were leaning toward voting for the recall because of rising crime and homelessness.

The recall is by no means assured to happen. The most recent fundraising numbers showed that Newsom had ten times more money to spend than the top-polling Republican in the race, conservative radio show host Larry Elder. Forty-six percent of voters are Democrats and just 24 percent are Republicans. And Elder’s opposition to abortion, the minimum wage, and laws banning gender discrimination is viewed as fringe by most California voters.”

How did maher become an almost voice of reason -

"Real Time" host Bill Maher closed his show on Friday night by teaching liberals the "lesson of Afghanistan" amid the ongoing turmoil in the Asian nation.

"Blind hatred of America is just as blinkered as blind love. And we Americans should really get some perspective about where we live," Maher began his monologue. "Watching this s--- go down in Afghanistan, I was reminded lately of every conversation I've ever had with an immigrant, almost all of which if we got to really talking, included the notion, ‘Oh, you people have no idea. All you do is b---- about and badmouth your own country, but if you knew about the country I came from, you'd stop s----ing on your own.’"

"Last week, the Taliban murdered a comedian," Maher said, referring to Afghan comedian Nazar Mohammad, who was tortured and executed. "A comedian, a thing like that really hits close to home for me. I've had two presidents up my a--. … Neither experience was pleasant, but I never had to worry about being dragged 'til I'm dead behind a Toyota Tacoma. Have a little perspective about the stuff we howl about here."

I'm sorry your professor said something you didn't like. That won't be a problem with the Taliban because you're not allowed to go to school. In Saudi Arabia, grown women can be jailed for doing the kind of things we think of as routine without the permission of a male guardian. China rounds you up if you're the wrong religion and puts you in camps," Maher said before listing several other injustices around the world.

There's a reason Afghan mothers are handing their babies to us

We failed, but any immigrant will tell you we've largely succeeded here. And yet, the overriding thrust of current ‘woke’ ideology is America is rotten to the core, irredeemably racist from the moment it was founded and so oppressive, sexist and homophobic we can't find a host for the Oscars or 'Jeopardy!'" Maher exclaimed.

"And this is where your new [Afghan] roommates that you took in will prove so valuable because they'll turn to you and say ‘Have you people lost your f---ing minds?!?… Have you ever heard of honor killings, public beheadings, throwing gay men off of roofs, arranged marriages to minors, state-sanctioned wife-beating, female genital mutilation, marriage by capture? Because we have.'"

"What's the lesson of Afghanistan. Maybe it's that everyone from the giant dorm room b---- session that is the internet should take a good look at what real oppression looks like," Maher continued. "Ask your maid, ask your Uber driver, ask the Asian woman giving you a massage. … America may not be the country of your faculty lounge and Twitter dreams, but no one here tries to escape by hanging on to an airplane. No, we wait 'til we get inside the plane to fight – and only because they cut off the beverage service.

Unlimited Power: The Latest Supreme Court Dissent Is A Window Into The Mind Of The COVID Bureaucracy

The left thinks its power is so broad as to be essentially limitless, and so singularly vested as to be checked virtually solely at its own discretion

“Interested to know what the top liberal legal minds of the United States Supreme Court think about government power and your private property? First, take 10 minutes to read Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s opinion, written for the majority, in the court’s Thursday night decision to stop the ban on rental income; then spend another 10 minutes on Justice Stephen Breyer’s dissent.

Here’s a hint: The left thinks its power is so overarching as to impact nearly every citizen, so broadly interpreted as to be essentially limitless, and so singularly vested as to be checked virtually solely at the discretion of the bureaucracy itself.

“Substantially … Tailored”

The absurdity begins in the opening paragraph of Breyer’s dissent, which was joined by Justices Elena Kagan and Sonya Sotomayor. There, he lauds what he describes as the government’s limited and judicious use of its power, writing, “the [Centers for Disease Control]’s current order is substantially more tailored than its prior eviction moratorium, which automatically applied nationwide.”

Therefore, he reasons, there’s no reason to even consider if the CDC has any authority on the matter.

How tailored is it, though? He gets to that two paragraphs later, when he cites the number of American counties the order applies to: Ninety percent; the vast majority of the country. This, he openly admits, is the left’s idea of “substantially more tailored;” it’s right there in the open.”

Biden Admin Takes Soft Tone On China In Long-Awaited Report On Origins Of The Coronavirus

"President Joe Biden’s administration released a long-awaited report on Friday afternoon about the origins of SARS-CoV-2. The report gave no definitive answers, was relatively soft on China, and effectively stated that the origins of the coronavirus will never be known without China’s cooperation."

‘California wises up and chooses natural gas’

Eventually, reality catches up with you — even in California.

The Golden State has been trying for years to get rid of all of its fossil fuel generation capacity. Spreading a mythological doom-and-gloom narrative about catastrophic, world-ending climate change, California’s government has nonetheless moved toward shuttering all of its carbon-free nuclear power plants in favor of creating a grid based almost entirely on wind and solar power.

There is just one problem with this: It cannot be done, at least not with existing technology.

Not only has this forced upon Californians electricity prices 80% higher than the national average, but it has also saddled them with a power grid that relies far too heavily on intermittent (that is, unreliable) sources of electricity. Wind power only works when the wind blows. Solar cannot generate electricity at night.

And so temporarily, or so they say, the state has been forced to set up five natural gas power plants in order to avoid rolling blackouts. This move is the result of an emergency order signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom last month.

We hate to be cynical, but we wonder whether the sudden adoption of gas power is an effort to spare Newsom additional political damage in the last weeks leading up to the Sept. 14 recall election being held against him.

Even so, it is doing the right thing.

This spring, when some uninsulated natural gas pipelines failed in Texas, the nation received a lesson in what happens when a massive swathe of one’s generating capacity cannot be counted on to produce anything. Texas, a national leader in wind power due to huge government subsidies, suffered destructive blackouts amid freezing weather while its windmills sat by in forced idleness.

‘Democrats are considering a slew of tax hikes in their $3.5T budget reconciliation Bill’
(Democratic leaders have said the massive bill is going to be fully paid for, but the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimated that it will add $1.75 trillion to deficit over a 10-year period.)

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer have said they're aiming to pass the budget reconciliation bill in the fall. Budget reconciliation allows the Democrats to move the budget bill to passage along a party-line vote without GOP votes.

Democratic leaders have expressed support for raising the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%, increasing the top income tax for individuals and families to 39.6% and doubling the current capital gains tax to 43.4%.

The Biden Administration has proposed a capital gains tax that would be applicable at death with an exemption of up to $1 million. The administration is also considering a 15% minimum tax on book income that applies to corporations that meet certain income requirements.

According to the Tax Foundation, potential health care-related revenue that Democrats want to raise under the budget bill would stifle U.S. medical innovation.

"Under H.R. 3, if drug manufacturers do not agree to participate in negotiations, or do not agree to the negotiated price, they would be subject to an escalating excise tax on the sale of the drug in question," said the Tax Foundation. "The tax would kick in at 65 percent and would rise by 10 percentage points each 90 days the manufacturers are in 'noncompliance,' reaching a maximum tax rate of 95 percent."

Democrats in Congress have floated the idea of a methane tax and carbon border tax.

"The principle here is at least a methane fee, some kind of border adjustment, although there are serious technical challenges there," Sen. Brain Schatz (D-Hawaii) said. "Our major hurdle is how to make it operate properly."

In addition to these new taxes, Senate Democrats have introduced legislation titled the Polluters Pay Climate Fund Act, which would require "the largest U.S.-based fossil fuel extractors and oil refiners and foreign-owned companies doing business in the U.S. to pay into a Polluters Pay Climate Fund based on a percentage of their global emissions."

The reconciliation bill could also include an international tax reform proposal put forth by Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee.

"If the U.S. were to remove the tax benefit from FDII [Foreign Derived Intangible Income] and companies then chose to move their IP offshore to benefit from a foreign patent box, the U.S. could lose out on investment and jobs related to R&D in addition to some tax revenue from the profits," the Tax Foundation reported.

Democratic leaders have said the massive reconciliation bill is going to be fully paid for, but the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimated that it will add $1.75 trillion to the federal deficit over a 10-year period.

The Senate also passed a separate $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that the CRFB estimated will add $400 billion to the deficit over the next decade. The legislation contains a new tax reporting requirement for cryptocurrency transactions.

One million exemption for the death tax? It’s something like 6 million now. Been rising for years and has saved many a survivor from going to the bank to get a big big loan to pay taxes or if not feasible, sell Grandpa’s store. Double the Capital gains tax? Time to sell some properties now. Or dump the losing stocks to offset gains. What is an administrator of a trust going to do?
