C'est la vie, I can see the problem.
It was probably best to chum the unemployment benefits market (which is incredibly unfair, some people got a fair amount, some nothing) as the economy sloughed off the less mission critical jobs. It isn't like we really need baristas and concert promoters plus there was a general drawing down. With enough hungry people you get real revolution not just the cosplay kind that was done in Portland and other cities by the Junior Democrats. But when do you turn off the spigot?
It strikes me as similar to the folks who follow Saint Keynes. The idea of turning a .gov knob when the economy is low sounds good on paper, it's just that the knob is rarely turned the other way. Man plans and God laughs.
Of course, with President Potato as figurehead-in-chief, I suppose the answer is obvious. Two jillion jobs? One jillion unemployed people? No problem, just let in five jillion 'undocumented workers'. The folks writing surveillance software in Silicon Valley won't miss a beat regardless of the policy.

"Natural Oil Seeps in Southern California
Crude oil and natural gas naturally enter the ocean at areas known as “seeps.” The offshore
seeps along the Southern California coast are particularly visible, abundant, and well-studied.
● Offshore seeps in Southern California add about 5 million gallons of oil to the ocean
annually, with wide year-to-year variation (National Academy of Sciences, 2003).
● Though from a natural source, oil from seeps shows similar appearance, behavior, and
effects as oil released during drilling and other human activities.
● Oil from seeps affects fish, birds, and wildlife; can impair surface waters and shorelines;
and can impact recreational activities

That's what Emery does when he's cornered and has no answer.
And his lack of denial, is a positive "YES" to my last question.
Natural crude oil seepage has never been a concern for the ECO bastards. Oil companies even tried to get permits to drill into those deposits to stop the natural contamination, and the ECO bastards being the real dicks they are, managed to stop those permits.

“Former US president Donald Trump has overtaken his successor Joe Biden in favourability ratings among American voters in what has been described as a “remarkable turnaround”.
The Times reported that, just eight months after the transfer of power, Trump has a positive rating of 48% compared with Biden’s 46% in a Harvard-Harris poll. Back in February, Biden had a 56% positive rating compared with Trump’s 43%.
The team that surrounded Trump during his reign also fared better than Biden’s circle. Some 55% of respondents said that Mike Pence was a better vice president than his successor, Kamala Harris, and 63% believed that Mike Pompeo was a better secretary of state than Antony Blinken.

Sky News host James Morrow says the Biden administration has “two very different attitudes” to COVID depending on how you choose to enter the country.
While overseas travellers from 33 countries will be permitted entry if they show proof of vaccination and test negative to the virus, Democrats last week voted to block measures which would ensure illegal immigrants were tested.
“Strict rules for people flying into the country legally, but it’s a COVID free-for-all if you stroll in illegally, and it doesn’t make any sense until you realise one thing,” he said.
“The stuff for legitimate travellers flying into LAX or JFK is all window dressing.

"Not too long ago, we wrote a response to something that prominent gun activist David Hogg said on Twitter. He believes that all gun owners are old fogey dinosaurs and will somehow "die out one day." When they do, all the young people will usher in the utopia where nothing bad happens, and there will be no more evil guns. "
As the article mentions, not much attention is paid to college students regarding anything firearms-related, even though they're increasingly becoming a large demographic of gun-buying Americans.
"In fact, the idea that younger Americans are against guns is a silly one; younger Americans were raised on the "scary" violent video games, tv, and movies from the 2000s that politicians and corporate media outlets were hysterical about back then. Those same entertainment properties are pop-culture staples today. "

They never said that. Were you this fucking dense on your news shows? (Sorry George). Did you always put words in other peoples' mouths or is this just a new phase in life? Are you a child?
To everyone else...
It is interesting that natural seeps vastly outweigh spills, I never really thought about it. I went down the rabbit hole of reading reports on spills from various sources (land pipelines, offshore production, tankers, refineries, fueling stations), it's all pretty rigorously measured and surprising in a few ways. The Biden Spill is kind of a bummer but not huge in the scheme of things. The Obama Spill (Deepwater Horizon) was the real monster and actually skews all the stats..to the extent that they tend to be worked out with/without that particular situation.

You have a lot of leftwing silliness to which you should respond here, but instead, you divert to non sequitur inquiries - that tactic wore out years ago.
And to show how asymmetrically silly your socialist worldview and policies are, here is an example of a rightwing lampoon, of which there are literally thousands going around the email circuits, that have no corollary from the Left.
'You know the brainwashing is real when white people protest against white people for being white people.'
Why is it that no leftwinger can come up with equivalent lampoons against the Right's worldview and policies?

9,041 more ballots returned by voters than received in the voter history phase. (high impact)
5,295 voters that potentially voted in multiple counties in the certified results phase. (high impact)
3,432 more ballots cast than the list of people who show as having cast a vote. The audit called this group of ballots “official results does not match who voted,” in the certified results phase. (medium impact)
2,592 more duplicates than original ballots in the ballot phase. (medium impact)
2,382 in person voters who had moved out of Maricopa County in the certified results phase. (medium impact)
2,081 voters moved out of state during 29 day preceding election in the voter history phase. (medium impact)
1,551 votes counted in excess of voters who voted in the certified results phase. (medium impact)
An additional 3,587 votes were in the “low impact” category across 14 findings.

So, quiz time.
Does a gallon of gas, from US offshore well, through a pipeline, to a refinery, delivered to a gas station produce more or less pollution than one extracted in Saudi Arabia, delivered by pipeline to a port, transferred to a bunker fuel run ship, sent 10k miles, delivered to an offshore station, run through a pipeline to shore, pipelined to a refinery, delivered to a gas station.
'Pollution' can be both leaks in transport and greenhouse gas emission.
Any clue Paul? or does your Tesla, solar panel, and battery setup in the trailer not require any fuel?
Please Paul, give us your wisdom on the matter.

Thinking out loud about natural oil seepage, and there's a really amazing amount of it that goes on (boatloads), I wonder to what extent ocean ecosystems depend on a certain amount of crude oil being introduced to the water.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there was an optimal amount, it's not a thing you could just up and cut off via magic of some sort.

PaulE 1239pm - No one is saying that you can't pursue your oil spill crusade. Given the tsunami of all the other Biden administration f#@k ups, it seems that you and yours might want to take a stand against the overwhelming number of meritorious criticisms launched against the Left. But compared to what has been seeping out of the soCal's offshore ocean bottom for aeons, if that minor oil spill is getting your undies in a bundle, have at it. (BTW, I too remember as a teenager getting my feet full of black goo on Santa Monica beach. In those days all trips to the beach included bringing a bottle of rubbing alcohol to clean your feet before going home.)

Paul extends an orifice and exudes: " you support Trump and his desire for more offshore drilling off California coastlines? "
I never really thought much about it. I don't have an opinion beyond wondering why in the hell you are banging on about Trump in this case. PTSD? Some kind of guilt for singing workin' man songs while never having worked?
One Trump action:
"The president signed a memorandum instructing the interior secretary to prohibit drilling in the waters off both Florida coasts, and off the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina for a period of 10 years — from July 1, 2022, to June 20, 2032."
Paul, do you think that offshore drilling is more dangerous than onshore (or offshore) drilling in the Middle East and shipping it to the US? Could you even begin to guess? Did the equipment failure (or whatever it was) in the latest spill happen because of Trump? Can you show us on the doll where the Orange Man touched you?

Only once for an elected President. I had to look it up, it's a good trivia question.

I'm sure you were there Emery, The only Prez shitcanned by his party for another candidate. And a DEM. no less.
"Franklin Pierce, the 14th president, who was elected as a Democrat in 1852. His pro-Southern sentiments and his policy of failing to lead on the divisive issue of slavery badly hurt his standing with the voters. Especially damaging was his support for the pro-slavery Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854, which backfired on him as Kansas was overrun by pro-slavery forces, mostly from the slave state of Missouri. The events angered Northerners everywhere and helped lead to the creation of the Republican Party. When Democratic delegates gathered in Cincinnati for their convention in 1856, it was clear that they had had enough of Pierce."

Back to the Wuhan virus-
Israeli paper - highly vaxed population (96%) in a hospital setting; 23 patients listed in a Table, 2 were not vaccinated. Those 2 had mild symptoms and survived. The other 21 had 2 doses of the Comirnaty vaccine (Moderna). All patients had comorbidities. The time from second vaccine dose to infection ranged from 143 to 188 days; 8 became severely ill, 6 critically ill and 5 of the critically ill died. I thought the job of the jab was to reduce deaths - except when it doesn't, evidently.
The calculated attack rate was 10.6% (16/151) for staff and 23.7% (23/97) for patients. All exposed individuals were PCR-tested for SARS-CoV-2. There was extensive, rapid nosocomial spread among the vaccinated, including individuals wearing surgical masks. Dedicated staff members worked with full personal protective equipment (PPE): N-95 mask, face shield, gown, gloves and hair cover.
You might guess that those itty-bitty Walmart masks would be slightly less effective.
Nosocomial outbreak caused by the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant in a highly vaccinated population, Israel, July 2021.

Poll time:
From RCP consensus polling on Job approval:
Biden has stabalized and has picked up almost 3 points. He's now down 2.8 compared to -5.6 a week ago. Trump on the same date of his Presidency,Oct 4, was down 15.6. Biden beats Trump by around 13 points in the same poll. Trump was a big loser from the start and has set modern history records since then.

Fake polls Emery? You bore me.
Funny,, the ONLY one who yaps "worst prez" is you.
So you went to LOSER high school. Now we know where you got it from.

Hey Emery; Trump the biggest loser. Did you forget about a guy named Mondale in, I think 1984 (think that was in the 20th century). He carried all of two states. And don't bother, I know you will start talking about congressional seats....better with your military experience, that you go and ask General Milley where he wants his suitcase placed.

Walt and Barry
Once again no President since some time in the 19th Century has lost the House, Senate and re-election in his first and only four year term. Trump wins hands down.
I don't have a clue who will emerge for '24 Pres from the Dem side so we have nothing to discuss on that question.
I only pay attention to the RCP consensus polls for job approval because they include all the established polls including Rasmussen to compile their consensus averages. they have been doing the same consensus since Before Obama so comparison of the numbers has a historical perspective. Those are the only polls that make any sense at this time but believe whatever you want.
Posted by: Paul Emery | 04 October 2021 at 07:00 PM
By the way Walt I opened your Bretbart link and they included the RCP consensus in their story showing Biden down by only 2.8, far below Trumps 15.6 in the same day, same poll in 2017. Here's a quote:
"Monday’s RealClearPolitics average of polls showed Biden’s approval underwater as well, with 47.9 disapproving and 45.1 approving."
