[With today’s signing of the trillion plus ‘infrastructure bill’ the Democrat perfidy is made visible. The bill contain1s so little (about $100B) for actually fixing roads, bridges, etc that municipalities are not prepared to issue massive new amounts of municipal bonds – usually a jurisdiction’s ‘matching funds’ to garner federal subsidies. Therefore, the outstanding tax-free municipal bond prices are rising and their yields falling. The infrastructure bill is yet another Biden travesty that misses the mark as the feds (the Fed) continue printing new money. So the question stands – name ONE thing that Bumblebrain has done right. gjr]

This is the kind of self talk in a limited lefty circle that is crushing the socialist dems especially among independents -
O'Rourke's 2020 presidential campaign took a hit and did not seem to recover following the publication of a 8,600-word cover story for Vanity Fair in which he was quoted as saying, "I want to be in it. Man, I'm just born to be in it." He also frequently made the joke that he "sometimes" helps raise his kids. The Texas Democrat was mocked mercilessly for the story and his comments were called sexist by critics who noted a female candidate would perhaps not be able to get away with the same narrative.
Confronted with the criticism during an appearance on "The View," O'Rourke said he regretted the photoshoot and it reinforced the "perception of privilege."
Several months after the story's publication, Vanity Fair published a telling piece called, "How the Media Fell Out of Love with Beto O'Rourke."
O'Rourke enjoyed widespread support from progressives when he first hit the national scene and announced a run for the Senate against Sen. Ted Cruz. But in the latest survey from the University of Texas at Austin and The Texas Tribune, just 35% of voters rated O’Rourke favorably, while 50% rated him unfavorably.
"Abbott’s popularity has waned, but you enter the race even less popular," Texas Monthly's Jonathan Tilove said to O'Rourke after he announced his run. "Unlike in 2018, you are now a well-known and polarizing figure, and the Abbott campaign will make sure Texans repeatedly hear the statements you made when you ran for president that put you to the left of most Texas voters. Will those define you negatively?"

The effort is also aimed at steering Putin away from further aggression on Ukraine by making clear there would be a strong and coordinated response, two of the people said. They declined to specify what might be included, but with heavy sanctions already on many parts of the Russian economy including its defense and finance sectors, one area left to attack might be energy. "“When we marched in Ferguson, white supremacists would hide behind a hill near where Michael Brown Jr. was murdered and shoot at us,” Bush tweeted. “They never faced consequences. If Kyle Rittenhouse gets acquitted, it tells them that even 7 years later they still can get away with it.”"
bwahahaha. They are such liars.
The incredibly sad thing, probably discussed by future historians, is that the most likely side effect of the 'white supremacist' meme is that it actually comes to pass. If the Blue Mob wants to create a country with the politics of prison inmates, you might expect the same evolution of in-group formation. Balkanization uber alles.
If the competent half of the country takes on the same laissez-faire attitude towards violent demonstration, building burning, street crime that the Blue Mob has, I can't say that we end up in a good place.
It really boils down to whether the US Cultural Revolution continues to gain traction or if it recedes for some reason. Action begets counteraction.

It's getting so rare for any actual 'racist' events that the lefties have to start inventing them from whole cloth. A white guy shoots 3 white guys in self defense prosecuted and defended by white men, the judge and I believe 11 jurors are white.
So Biden calls Rittenhouse a 'white supremacist' and this now becomes a racial thing. Good grief.
Now Bush is fantasizing being shot at by 'white supremacists'.

Taking to heart Dr. Rebane’s several warnings about the folly (giddiness) of celebrating prematurely based on daily snapshots (polls), I will venture way out on a branch to say Biden may not run for re-election. I am probably wrong, but may be correct in the fullness of time. Right now it’s a mute point anyhow. What is important is the Lefty elitists and overlords continue to believe strongly that their only problems are a messing problem. The same problem that the DNC’s Debbie Whatzername Shultz identified after much soul searching in the aftermath of the bloodbath of 2010: it’s merely a messaging problem exasperated by misinformation.
As long as the Justice Democrats keep behaving with their collective heads in the sand, The Doldrums are not quite so severe. Ignorance is Bliss indeed as the polls in this snapshot in time are all sailing in the same direction. Keep doing what you are doing and you will keep getting what you are getting. Please, New Left, remain filled with unwarranted arrogance and derisive condescension to any questions, not to mention challenges to the status quo.
The skipped over by the Lamestream Wa Compost-ABC weekend poll. Polls all are reading the same tea leaves. Biden on the campaign trail said “the middle class built America” but now acts if his administration has contempt for the middle class.

Voters socked by inflation and underwhelmed by President Joe Biden now favor Republicans in the 2022 midterm elections by a historic margin, prompting predictions of the largest gain in House seats in the modern voting era.
However, there is a huge 20-point gap among independents who would choose a generic Republican over a generic Democrat by a margin of 48%-26%.
While the questioning is a bit different in the new Rasmussen survey than in past years, the gap is apparently historic and even stronger because the latest survey offered the alternatives of “some other candidate” and “not sure,” said the polling outfit.

Another lefty Sacred Cow trying to save face. Boy, did he find a sweet home at the Grey Lady’s digs.
DEFEAT: Paul Krugman Admits, ‘I Got Inflation Wrong’
“In addition, The Journal editorial board noted how President Joe Biden and the Federal Reserve “squeezed the supply side with incentives not to work, restrictive mandates, and the promise of more regulation and higher taxes. The result is 5% inflation and supply-chain disruptions that CEOs say will stretch well into 2022 and maybe beyond.” Krugman seems hell-bent on protecting his “very strong” case for “Bidenomics.” He recently tried to insulate Biden by embarrassingly claiming the president had “no control” over the spike in gas prices.
Krugman did suggest that his hedging “doesn't say that the inflation will necessarily be transitory, although I think that's still the best bet. But it is important to realize that the story is more complicated than excessive stimulus.” Even his quasi-admission that inflation may or may not be “transitory” is still quite a hedge from his Sept. 10 op-ed, in which he stated definitively in his headline: “Wonking Out: I’m Still on Team Transitory.”
Take the “L” and move on, Krugman.

ONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A federal judge has blocked the U.S. Treasury from enforcing a provision of the American Rescue Plan Act that prohibited states from using the pandemic relief funds to offset new tax cuts.
U.S. District Judge L. Scott Coogler ruled Monday in Alabama that Congress exceeded its power in putting the so-called tax mandate on states. He entered a final judgement in favor of 13 states that had filed a lawsuit and instructed the Treasury Department not to enforce the provision. The judge left the rest of the law in place.
The American Rescue Plan steered $195 billion in flexible relief funds to states but specified that states could not use it as a means to cut taxes by using the federal relief dollars to offset the revenue reduction.
The judge described the tax-cut restrictions as “a federal invasion of State sovereignty" that was “unconstitutionally ambiguous" — leaving states guessing as to whether their tax cuts would trigger a repayment of federal funds.

‘DOJ whistleblower challenges Garland testimony, says FBI counterterrorism tool used on parents’
“A Justice Department whistleblower has provided Congress evidence that FBI counterterrorism assets were involved in the investigation of parents protesting school policies, prompting a key GOP lawmaker to question the "accuracy and completeness" of Attorney General Merrick Garland's recent testimony.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio.), the top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, released an unclassified internal FBI email from last month showing that the bureau's counterterrorism chief, Timothy R. Langan Jr., through a deputy, jointly sent instructions with the criminal division chief to FBI officials to use a "threat tag" to track any complaints involving parents and school officials.
"We ask that your offices apply the threat tag to investigations and assessments of threats specifically directed against school board administrators, board members, teachers, and staff," the email stated. "The purpose of the threat tag is to help scope this threat on a national level and provide an opportunity for comprehensive analysis of the threat picture for effective engagement with law enforcement partners at all levels."

Apropos of nothing.
I was checking out Mr. Boardman's column concerning CRT in schools with the normal outbreak in the comments section. 'CRT' gets redefined to mean what you want, but it really all boils down to 'how to indoctrinate the children'. It's not a trivial problem as social glue is a reasonable side effect of K-12.
I got to thinking again about writing an accurate US history book and what that would really include. If you used good physical evidence, there's plenty to outrage everyone. Imagine taking this paper and inserting a summary of it.

Republican mayoral candidate Daniel Rickenmann, a businessman and Columbia city council member, defeated Democrat Tameika Isaac Devine by a margin of 52% to 48% on Tuesday night in Columbia which sits in a county that President Biden carried by almost 40 points in 2020.
Columbia has been so reliably blue over the last several years that Republicans didn’t put forth a challenger to Rickenmann’s Democratic predecessor Mayor Stephen Benjamin.

A DEFEAT FOR THE LOUDOUN COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD [UPDATED]
https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2021/11/a-defeat-for-the-loudoun-county-school-board.php
———————————-
Enemies of the School Board
Parents in some school districts find their input suppressed—and their dissent criminalized.
https://www.city-journal.org/public-school-boards-against-parents
————————————
All the dismissing of parents’ concerns and school boards’ elitist condensation at the parents and citizens who dare even question the policies/curriculum bring about what we saw in the Virginnie’s governors race.
Any Democrat running for Governor in Virginnie has to be really really bad and work really really hard at being really awful to lose the Governorship seat in Virginia. Dismiss ‘the people’ at your own political suicide.
‘Democrats are stuck in their own echo chamber’
For a party concerned about the health of our democracy, ignoring the growing concerns of voters is a foolhardy thing to do.

What I found truly bizarre was the defense of CRT by Trustees individually, after the presentatio.. we need to get a better balance on the Board.

Ai disagreed, however, when asked if he thought Trump was authoritarian. He stated that the U.S. is already behaving like an authoritarian state, and much of it has to do with efforts for people to be “unified in a certain political correctness.”
“In many ways, you’re already in the authoritarian state. You just don’t know it,” Ai told “Firing Line” host Margaret Hoover, who asked him to elaborate.
Ai explained that with today’s technology, we know so much more than we actually understand. “The information [has] become jammed, but we don’t really ... have the knowledge, because you don’t work. You don’t have to act on anything. You just think you’re purified by certain ideas that you agree with. That is posing dangers to society, to an extremely divided society,” he said.

“No matter which way the verdict goes, somebody is going to be upset,” said Postuchow. “You always have to be ready because you don’t know what’s going to happen, but we hope cooler minds prevail.”"

Yeah, if Kyle is found guilty on just one single charge you know the MAGA grandpas will be down there in their bedroom slippers burning and looting.

re: Scotto@7:01
Maybe the flower shop owner can protect her place from the mob?
Probably not.
That's what this case is all about after all. Team Blue has found an effective tool in using what is essentially state-sponsored terrorism. Lack of prosecution, far-left district attorneys in some cities, full media backing of the 'mostly peaceful' burnings. It'll only be stopped by either a change in government to quite a deep level or the application of self-defense. Neither one will be allowed.
Welcome to Year Zero. You can't even check out any time you like, much less leave.

Did no one in sac see this one coming or was it just denial -
The suit, which was filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Corrections Secretary Kathleen Allison, and wardens Michael Pallares and Mona Houston, says the law “cannot be applied in any manner that avoids violating the federal and state constitutional rights” of the plaintiffs.
Plaintiff Krystal Gonzalez says she was sexually assaulted by a biological male who was transferred to Central California Women’s Facility under the law. According to the suit, when Gonzalez filed a complaint and requested to be housed away from men the prison’s response called her alleged attacker a “transgender woman with a penis.”
“Krystal does not believe that women have penises and the psychological distress caused by her assault is exacerbated by the prison’s refusal to acknowledge the sex of her perpetrator,” the lawsuit says.
California governor Gavin Newsom signed the bill into law in September 2020. It requires the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to “house transgender, gender-nonconforming and intersex (TGI) individuals in a manner that matches their gender identity while supporting health and safety.”
The measure requires the department to ask all individuals entering its custody to state their personal pronouns, their gender identity and whether they identify as transgender, nonbinary or intersex. It prohibits the department from disciplining a prisoner who refuses to answer the questions and also allows the information to be updated at a later date.

Trump vindicated? Trump was warning the nation that the lockdowns would lead to a rise in overdoses/deaths in early 2020. He has been proven correct. Of course, there are other factors involved besides the lockdowns which gave us a surge of minors being HOSPITALIZED for mental health issues and more teen suicides.
One can point the finger at Biden’s open border policy which has been masterfully exploited by drug cartels bringing in massive amounts of fentanyl. One can point the finger at the mandated lockdowns and closures of rehab centers right in the middle of the patient’s efforts to kick their demon habits that have them by the gonads. One can blame isolation. We are social beings, after all, with some exceptions that include Dr. Ted Kaczynski from UC Berkerly and the fool on the hill.
Anyway.....
‘More Than 100,000 Americans Died From Drug Overdoses In A Single Year: Report’
“The CDC reported about 93,000 overdose deaths in 2020, according to the AP. That number was the highest recorded in a calendar year, but Robert Anderson, the CDC’s chief of mortality statistics, said calendar year 2021 would end with over 100,000 deaths. “2021 is going to be terrible,” Dr. Daniel Ciccarone, a drug policy expert at the University of California, San Francisco, told the AP.
Deaths from drug overdoses have been steadily rising for more than 20 years, but they have accelerated in the past two years and jumped nearly 30% in the last year, according to new CDC data. Drug overdoses now account for more annual deaths than car accidents, gun violence, and even respiratory illnesses like pneumonia and influenza. The never-before-seen number is also rapidly approaching the number of deaths from diabetes, currently the seventh-most prevalent cause of death in the country.“

Looks more like a Three Stooges routine or comedy of errors to me than not. Where’s the beef?
“Two go back and forth regarding the "c*m dumpster" comment, with the man ultimately throwing his sign in her direction, and stating "get the f*ck outta here."
Another woman standing off to the side then attempts to grab the woman's sign from her hands, knocking her to the ground. The man attempts to jump in, only to turn and assault a nearby journalist.
The journalist was knocked to the ground, with the crowd attempting to separate the two. The crowd checks on the journalist, and another man attempts to talk to the man in the "f*ck Kyle" shirt. He then pushes the man who attempts to talk to him, and the man tells him to get out of the area.
Police attempting to get a hold on the situation later arrest the man in the "f*ck Kyle" shirt, as well as at least one other protestor, who had claimed that an officer hit them and began walking into an area the police were securing to yell at the officer.”

BT @ 1037 -
I have spent a lot of time on substance abuse issues over the years, took the heat for it and guess what, we have been right again and again.
Weak governments beget massive crime especially drugs, when the US started legalizing weed the cartels grew poppies there for the higher profit per back pack and grew weed here. Then the chi coms flooded the world with all kinds of substances to stay one step ahead of the legal definitions for spice drugs and now fentanyl.
That empowers every gangs of every race!
The union says the price of weed is down yet we have 4k illegal grows here that are ignored just like the policies of the social justice warriors deleterious effects on every community in the state.

"Weak governments beget massive crime especially drugs,"
Drug law would be a good RR topic as there are likely a few viewpoints here.
Year Zero outrage can get a bit tiresome, but people are filled with various theories on drugs.
(dunno why marijuana simply doesn't clone liquor law, at least in terms of off-sale licenses. Real-deal commercial growing results in health & safety standards, taxes are imposed, it's likely that the small scale farms largely disappear as they require a certain amount of illegality to be profitable. Existing public smoking and public intoxication laws apply. There...done.).

"KENOSHA, Wis. — The judge overseeing the Kyle Rittenhouse trial said on Thursday that a producer for MSNBC had followed a bus carrying jurors home from the courthouse the previous night. Judge Bruce Schroeder called it an “extremely serious matter” and said he was banning anyone affiliated with the cable network from the courthouse.
During a brief hearing on Thursday morning, Judge Schroeder said Kenosha Police officers had noticed a car following the bus by about a block. At one point, it ran a red light. When the officers pulled the car over, Judge Schroeder said, the man driving said he was a producer working with MSNBC and that someone who worked for the network in New York had instructed him to follow the jurors."

Another SF woke play gets slapped down in court -
The Court is not directly ordering the District to reinstate its prior admissions policy; rather, it is finding the Resolution null and void. It is up to the Board how it wishes to process, which may include the option of re-noticing the Resolution for a public hearing in compliance with the Brown Act," the court said in its decision.
The lawsuit, brought by the Lowell Alumni Association, the Friends of Lowell Foundation and the Asian American Legal Foundation, argued the Board of Education violated the Brown Act by "failing to post an agenda containing a minimally adequate description of the resolution." The court agreed.
"Neither the vague title of the Resolution nor the Background text provided any description of the item of business to be transacted or discussed by the Board — i.e., the elimination of Lowell’s merit-based admissions process," the court ruled.

from a Breitbart article about Jump Kick Man in the Rittenhouse trial
"They also apparently withheld his (Jump Kick Man) name from the defense, preventing Rittenhouse’s attorneys from calling him as a witness. That could prompt the defense to file a new motion for a mistrial, in addition to the two that are already pending with the judge.
Prosecutors have also faced criticism for charging Joshua Ziminski with arson. Ziminski allegedly fired the first shots that night, before Rittenhouse fired at his first assailant, but his pending testimony in his arson trial means that he could not be compelled to testify in the Rittenhouse trial because that might violate his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination."
Ooh, that last move is clever. One of the most valuable parts of this trial is showing Conservatives how 'just-us' actually works. A cold dash of realism is not such a bad thing.

re: Rittenhouse, from substack:
"A note on Kenosha in light of the Kyle Rittenhouse trial: Until quite recently, the mainstream liberal argument was that burning down businesses for racial justice was both good and healthy. Burnings allowed for the expression of righteous rage, and the businesses all had insurance to rebuild.
When I was at the New York Times, I went to Kenosha to see about this, and it turned out to be not true. The part of Kenosha that people burned in the riots was the poor, multi-racial commercial district, full of small, underinsured cell phone shops and car lots. It was very sad to see and to hear from people who had suffered. Beyond the financial loss, small storefronts are quite meaningful to their owners and communities, which continuously baffles the Zoom-class.
Something odd happened with that story after I filed it. It didn’t run. It sat and sat.
Now it could be that the piece was just bad. I’ve sent in bad ones before, and I’ll do it again. A few weeks after I filed, an editor told me: The Times wouldn’t be able to run my Kenosha insurance debacle piece until after the 2020 election, so sorry.
There were a variety of reasons given—space, timing, tweaks here or there.
Eventually the election passed. Biden was in the White House. And my Kenosha story ran. Whatever the reason for holding the piece, covering the suffering after the riots was not a priority. The reality that brought Kyle Rittenhouse into the streets was one we reporters were meant to ignore. The old man who tried to put out a blaze at a Kenosha store had his jaw broken. The top editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer had to resign in June 2020 amid staff outcry for publishing a piece with the headline, “Buildings Matter, Too.”
If you lived in those neighborhoods on fire, you were not supposed to get an extinguisher. The proper response — the only acceptable response — was to see the brick and mortar torn down, to watch the fires burn and to say: thank you."
