« Thanksgiving 2021 | Main | Scattershots - 29nov21 (updated 9dec21) »

27 November 2021

In the interest of a proper start for Festivus Celebrations nationwide, I'll go with a quote from a story one Mr. Tozer brought in.

"A group of 15-to-20-year-old suspects targeted a Home Depot store in Lakewood around 8:30 p.m., making off with crowbars, mallets and sledgehammers, according to Fox 11 Los Angeles. The group, which arrived in as many as ten vehicles and ran into the store wearing ski masks, reportedly emptied out an entire section of hammers before taking off, KCBS-TV reported."

The sheer genius of the thing made me laugh. Everyone gets to help eat the bread in Little Red Hen society and a hammer (but no sickle) makes a great deal of sense as a Blue Mob symbol. It used to represent the working class, but now it simply represents brute application of force. Think of the hammer as an upraised fist with mechanical advantage.

Back to begging OPEC for more output?
Prez. Dipshit still don't get it.

"The Biden-Harris administration issued a report Friday to increase the price of oil leasing fees on federal lands in the United States by 50 percent—even while accusing oil companies of artificially increasing prices through illegal and anticompetitive actions.

Despite record-high gasoline prices impacting American families across the country with winter around the corner, the Biden-Harris administration is recommending Congress hike the cost of oil leases on government lands from 12.50 percent to 18.75 percent."

A reason for the ponytail of ignorance's disappearance? -

Every single poll listed showed Biden’s approval underwater, several by double digits. The USA Today/Suffolk survey, for instance, has Biden underwater by 21 percent, garnering an abysmal 38 percent approval rating.

Is it just me, or have other regular commentators on RR noticed that almost every article lately could be placed either here in the Sandbox or over under the Stupidity, of which there is no defense post.

I am beginning to see a pattern here. Like Animal Farm when the pigs got good and drunk.

Even'n Bill,, decriminalizing crime was a great idea.
You can thank the Lefty voters here in Commiefornia for buying the cock and bull story about "it's only for non violent offenders"... MY ASS!!! Then the "no need for bail",, The vermin is back on the street before the arresting cops make it back to their car.

Now there is that wacko LIB who wants to empty all the private prisons in Ca.
That should work out just swell.

Don Bessee

The momentum is looooookinnnng gooooood -

Already, Mr. Biden’s approval ratings have taken a sharp fall among some of his core constituencies, showing double-digit declines among Black, Latino, female and young voters. Those drops have led to increased tension between the White House and progressives at a time of heightened political anxiety, after Democrats were caught off-guard by the intensity of the backlash against them in elections earlier this month. Mr. Biden’s plummeting national approval ratings have also raised concerns about whether he would — or should — run for re-election in 2024.

Bill Tozer

Top of the evening to you Walt. I see you survived Thanksgiving, progressive style. I am certain you were on your best behavior. “Isn’t Nancy wonderful!!,” would have been a good icebreaker.

She don’t look Siberian. She is taking a big hit. Lost her First Nations health minister job, her professorship at. U of Toronto, her reputation, her livelihood... Next time we hear about her will be a Rachel Dolezal type story of getting busted for welfare fraud. They are all Indian Princesses in their own minds.

Jimmy Carter is doing the rest home shuffle to the tune of
" I'm not the worst". Obummer is now breathing a sigh of relief
of his photo finish with Crater for the title.

"Most Americans have no memories of the actual Carter presidency, from 1977 to 1981, but this Baby Boomer sure does. As for you youngins, you can can look him up, and you’ll see too: He was terrible in office. So terrible, in fact, that when he ran for re-election in 1980, he was thunderously defeated, losing to Ronald Reagan by almost ten points in the popular vote and by 489 to 49 in the electoral college. "

Happy Festivus from Blue Mob America.

I can't blame her for trying. Good for her if it was just a bit of grifting, bad for her if it was variant of the modern mental illness that tells men they can wear a dress and be a bitchin' babe.

Being a Native American is an odd thing, there appears to be several varieties.
. Utterly fake, whether it's Canadian Health Ministers or TV anti-pollution actors (Espera DiCorti)
. Utterly real, like a Navajo family on the rez wondering why those white people are such a pain
. The folks with a grandparent who might have been (or was) a tribe member, never lived in that culture, have a few family stories. Kind of like some guy in a kilt at the Scottish Games whose great-grandfather left the old country one step ahead of the law.

Honestly, I'm not sure what 'racist' means anymore. It's mostly the word you hear shouted before your head gets stove in by a skateboard I guess.

If you check out the Blue Mob 'Merica channel that person puts up... appears to be pretty much an equal opportunity sort of place. A fair amount of diversity, inclusion, equity.

"President Joe Biden has said he will run for a second term in 2024 at age 81, but a poll shows that if he does not only 13 percent would support Vice President Kamala Harris. Former first lady Michelle Obama came in as the No. 2 pick at 10 percent.

However, neither woman got a majority of support from respondents, with 36 percent saying they were “unsure” who they would support, and 13 percent said they would choose someone who was not on the list."

We all know Joe ain't fit to hold office for one day.

re: BT@10:12PM/10:32PM

In both cases, I think there are hidden benefits here. Team Red spent too many years thinking that the national secret police were their friends and that public schools were a good thing. It's good to see both myths exploded.

The problem/opportunity is that sane people need to step up to the plate. I can't see the point at yelling at the school board, it's like telling the local комиссáр to put down his political Powerpoint slides and take up a useful trade. In the 19th C., people with a bit of dosh in the bank thought nothing of building schools, Masonic lodges, local parks as a community service. If you don't want your kids or grandkids to get reading assignments from 'Mommy Has A Penis' and other learned tomes, you need your own school as the other kind is a lost cause.

At a more advanced level, (I think) a lot could be accomplished by moving professional gatekeepers from universities to certificates ala bar exams (although I fully expect bar exams to get a DEI essay section at some point). It would work for many (not all) forms of study. The funny thing is that a tutor would be cheaper than Ivy League classes per hour.

Same goes for news/entertainment.

Where the rubber hits the road is the likely government response. Official censorship, official classwork, official news. Once that happens, either it's game over for freedom or things get more kinetic.

Good morning! I try to start with the funny papers. Gets the day off to a good start.
"Dems want Biden to start swinging at Republicans."
- fill in the punch line-
I guess photo ops with Biden in an upscale clothing store sans mask aren't doing the job.
" leaders say Biden needs to relentlessly hammer GOP lawmakers for opposing his economic priorities and hampering progress on the pandemic and inflation."
In other words - "we need to keep blaming the Rs for everything that we've made a mess of!"

"Dems want Biden to start swinging at Republicans."

I like the idea and want to help.

Perhaps it could be done as a multiple choice test.

Ms. Andersson, 54, was first chosen last Wednesday, but resigned after her budget was rejected by Parliament and her coalition collapsed. After days of negotiations, she gathered enough support to return to the top job Monday, this time without the minority party that brought her down."

A drag from the top -

President Joe Biden saw his lowest job approval numbers. Biden’s job approval found a new low of 36.4 percent during the first nine months of his presidency, according to a Zogby poll. While the poll also found that 61.3 percent of the respondents gave Biden a negative rating, the president was underwater with all age categories, particularly the younger generation of voters between 18 and 29, which viewed him 63 percent negatively and only 34 percent positively.

It shouldn’t be the opposite way. … [China is] a brutal dictatorship and they engage in censorship, they threaten the freedoms, and they don’t respect human rights, and they hide the truth.” —NBAer Enes Kanter

More than one out there in flyover country has noticed that the Christmas Parade Death Race 2000 driver has been erased. Like he almost never existed. Darrell Bates of something. Jossie is back in town and his trial blew that driverless car off the front pages of the MSM newspapers and the chattering heads scripts on the teleprompter. The name of the WI town is hard to pronounce (and spell) anyway. Gone in just 8 days.

In the B minus minus movie Death Race 2000, a whole bunch of extra points would have been awarded for taking out the Dancing Grannies and those little kids in the parade. Score! China’s Global Times, a state-controlled publication, asserted this week that Hollywood will destroy itself as it continues to embrace “political correctness” with an increasingly lunatic fervor.

The state-run media outlet cited the recent decision to exclude author J.K. “If Hollywood continues down this road, it will dig its own grave and destroy its reputation one day,” the Global Times predicted.

Of course in the salons of the rich socialists and the coastal lamestream lapdogs its the little red books truth -

Democrat policies are meant to make things more difficult for the average American: Skyrocketing energy prices are a feature, not a bug, in Biden world. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg himself said that high gas prices will make more Americans buy more electric vehicles. Jen Psaki hinted that higher prices on all products will make American consumers consume less. Biden's chief of staff retweeted affirmatively an assertion that inflation was a high-class problem. Democrats used to look out for working-class voters. Now, they despise them. That contempt has not gone unnoticed.

Democrats don't care about fighting crime: Murders are up in almost every major city. Looting is common-place in both high-end boutiques and low-brow Home Depots. Shoplifting is no longer a criminal offense in many big cities. The Democrats, stuck between the defund-the-police crowd and the American people, have largely ignored the issue. When they talk about it at all, most on the left blame the 2nd Amendment for the uptick in homicides and talk about white privilege as the underlying cause of the uptick in petty crime. Some leading lights of the left even cheer on crime as striking a blow against the white patriarchy.

Don Bessee

So who can guess what they will do the world wonders! -

ABC producer who accused Chris Cuomo of harassment calls CNN suspension 'meaningless', predicts he’ll be back
Shelley Ross says Cuomo won't be fired 'given CNN's great depth of forgiveness of sex offenses

"Democrats used to look out for working-class voters. Now, they despise them. "

I'll put forth an alternative theory.

'Democrats', by that I mean Blue Mob activists, dream of everyone living in solar-powered cities filled with bike paths, cradle-to-grave housing, food, medical regardless of lifestyle choices by everyone. The rest of the world is a beautiful wildlife park with no untoward changes in weather. Top o' the heap Democrats want safe beachfront mansions (who doesn't, really?).

So how do you achieve the dream? Even if you remove policy choices from the hoi polloi's wishes by more centralizing there doesn't appear to be much motion in the desired direction.

Answer? Destroy existing systems and use the chaos and degradation as a tool to rebuild in a desired direction. If you remove nuclear, natgas, coal, oil from energy production, hopefully you arrive at the 'right' answer. Beautiful government-sponsored housing not available for everyone? Put so many homeless people on the street that we are forced to build the 'right' answer. Don't favor all of the special ethnic groups? Decriminalize crime until you cede the public sphere and commerce to them.

There's probably a word for it in Russian, from the Revolution, for the idea. Destruction is a helluva lot easier than building, and once you are upset or destitute enough, you can be guided to a naturally occurring 'correct' answer.

The working class isn't despised, it just needs to get it's mind right.

‘How The FBI Raid On Project Veritas Helped Protect The New York Times’

The FBI's raids on Project Veritas had the effect of protecting not just the Biden family but also The New York Times. It's yet another episode in a long history of the FBI and New York Times wildly abusing their power.

France on the Verge of Civil War
The rise of Éric Zemmour.

“Today Zemmour released a video declaring his candidacy for president, and I’ve heard comparisons (including from a French student in my political science class this semester) comparing it to Charles de Gaulle’s famous July 18, 1940 radio broadcast pronouncing the cause of Free France amidst the nation’s collapse before the German army. For our readers who understand French, the video is at the bottom—but even if you don’t speak French I recommend watching it for a few minutes to take in how powerful it is.

Here is a rough translation:

“Just to be clear: we do not know the ProPublica information came from the IRS. That hasn’t been established.”

So now you have two hyper-political groups with access to those records. The IRS and ProPublica.

Really, is that worse than just the IRS holding them? (assuming that the weren't purposefully given out in order to attack certain individuals).

In both cases, the organization is allowed to target particular people for punishment. It isn't like the leaked records were in turn made public (so far as I know), the guy who was known for that is named Assange and is carefully kept in the subdungeon of a secret policeman's lair. Information is power and ProPublica wants it as much as the IRS. The short term goal of taxing wealth in addition to income is besides the point.

Given the upcoming lack of privacy, and it isn't like it's listed in the Bill of Rights, you can imagine the machine put together at the IRS. The aim is to track *all* financial transactions, no matter how small, and that can be pasted together from private and public sources. For all I know they have a direct line to that Alexa device in your house and keep track of your physical location via modern wifi devices. There's likely no turning back on this one, especially given the newfound ability to parse the data.

So what do you do? Maybe one answer is some kind of radical transparency. The power doesn't come from the information so much as the control and centralization of it. Musk should simply post his tax returns every year and not care about blowback.

Either that or a cabin in the woods.

Notable quotables from Trey Gowdy, Ted Cruz, Eric Swalwell, and more.

Insight: “I can scarcely contemplate a greater calamity that could befall this country, than be loaded with a debt exceeding their ability ever to discharge. If this be a just remark, it is unwise and improvident to vest in the general government a power to borrow at discretion, without any limitation or restriction.” —Robert Yates (1738-1801)

“Prosecutors knew that [Darrell Brooks] had a lifetime of violence and bail-jumping and disregarding the law, but Wisconsin prosecutors recommended a $1,000 bond. … And now, six body bags later, prosecutors finally concede that bond was too low. We already know that. $1,000 was too low when you set it. Now, after six people are dead, and dozens more injured, you set the bond at $5 million. So what’s different now? He was a career criminal before he killed six people at a Christmas parade. I don’t think anyone has hurt science, has hurt the credibility of the CDC, has hurt the credibility of doctors more than Dr. Fauci because throughout this pandemic, he’s been dishonest. But for the parents in Waukesha holding a funeral for THEIR child it's "tough sledding, ol' bean".
For the parents upset about the schools pushing racist crap on THEIR children - "just spouting right-wing talking points".
Swalwell and HIS kids are protected by walls, guards and firearms.
You and YOUR kids will just have to put up with the way of life dictated to you.
How much longer do these pin heads think the populace will put up with this crap before an actual 'insurrection' happens.

Swallowell has 3 kids under 5. I doubt the school board crowd is messing with his kids, neither is COVID-19, 20, 21, or 22 messing with his kids. He has a better chance farting on air during a live interview that his kids suffering from the China Virus from Wuhan.

In fact, there is more danger to his kids and his kids’ future by sleeping with the Chinese Communist Government spy than anything those MEGA types could or would ever do.

Speaking of flatulence (oral and otherwise) the Duchess of Cornwall can’t stop talking about President Joe Biden recently greeting her with a long loud expulsion of gas from his anus. It wasn’t the loudness of the fart the Lords and Duchesses are still talking about - it was the length they found so conversation worthy. It went on and on. “Impossible to ignore.”

'Biden' foreign policy is the gift that keeps on giving. Perhaps Admiral Levine will be assigned to NATO.

"American embassy workers who have been stationed in Moscow for over three years have been given just weeks to leave the country, Russia’s Foreign Ministry has announced, amid a growing row with Washington over diplomatic visas."

If you were wondering why the name Omicron sounded familiar, perhaps it's because you've heardit before on the hit series 'Futurama' created by Matt Groening. That's right, the new COVID variant was named Omicron, which is the 14th letter in the Greek alphabet and initially didn't sound threatening at all. However, those who have seen Futurama are fully aware that the main antagonist comes from a planet named Omicron Persei 8. His name is Lrrr but it's really pronounced 'Lurrr'. Twitter users went crazy as soon as the World Health Organization made this name public. There are all type of reactions to this new name that all 'Futurama' fans find familiar.

The now-former spokesman for District of Columbia Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser told Fox News on Wednesday that President Biden's tenure in office has led him to change party affiliation and also to vote for GOP businessman Glenn Youngkin in the off-year gubernatorial election in Virginia, where he resides.

Victor Jimenez told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" that his political shift was not a small decision, adding that he was until recently the "lead public information officer at [Bowser's] office for community affairs" and previously in a similar role for Latino outreach.

Jimenez, who is an Afro-Dominican immigrant according to a tweet from the DC Office of Latino Affairs, previously told Spanish-language network Telemundo that "Biden turned me into a Republican" and that the president has "destroyed the economy."

The reason I switched parties is because of everything that’s going on in the country right now. We see immigration through the roof right now and that is affecting a lot of Hispanic families in my home state of Virginia," Jimenez said. "And those are people who are already struggling with making ends meet."

we also have bad people coming into the country with bad intentions. People with illegal guns and drugs and people who are running from their law enforcement in their own country."

Carlson replied that, in the Democratic Party's strict categorical hierarchy, the assumption would be that Jimenez would both continue to be a Democrat and additionally be supportive of illegal immigration.

"Being Hispanic and Black, I should be Democrat by default," Jimenez replied. "But I am going against their narrative and I feel like right now everything is crumbling for the Democrats."

He referenced Youngkin's defeat of former Gov. Terry McAuliffe as "the beginning of the end" for the party and a potential precursor to a GOP landslide in 2022.

‘WATCH: Matt Walsh Greets Scores Of Protesters Outside His St. Louis Event, Poses One Simple Question‘

“At one point during the protest, Walsh walked out of the venue accompanied by law enforcement to speak with the protesters. The Daily Wire host was met with boos, chants, and one man screaming “do not come over here!” The crowd took several steps back as Walsh approached.

“I went out to say hi to my protesters and give them a chance to answer my ‘what is a woman’ question. They declined, it seems,” Walsh posted on Twitter with video of the confrontation.

My favorite part was when the guy shouted ‘do NOT come over here’ and then I came over there and he backed away,” he added. “This is no way to treat a children’s book author.”

The only name Trudo identifies with both the policy credentials and the star power needed to raise hundreds of millions online from small-dollar donors is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

A Democratic primary challenge to a sitting Democratic president is not without precedent. As recently as 1980, Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy attempted to wrest the party’s nomination from a similarly unpopular Democratic incumbent unable to control inflation.

Worth a read. Consider that this is an official correspondence by city management in Seattle.

"The Seattle Department of Finance and Administrative Services sent an all-staff email calling police officers white supremacists. Seattle cops are livid, but the agency is backing the hateful, dangerous message. It's the latest blow to a dwindling police force losing officers at an alarming rate."

I would suggest St. Leibowitz Academy as an alternative, but you can tell the value of a thing from it's detractors. A lot can happen in the organization of a system as complex as a school, but it's worth considering how to help any effort of this sort.

I attended Catholic high school and university. I studied Chesterson and Merton. I read scripture and the Beatitudes and learned how to apply them to modern day social issues. I studied 4 years of Latin, Logic, Religion, Literature, and Chemistry. Then four more years of Religion in university before Graduate School and finally teaching in Catholic schools.

....and yet Cheryl remains ever the empty-headed progressive dunderhead embracing every failed nostrum. So much for that vaunted Catholic education.

Topic, no links. The fertilizer shortage outside of the US. Fertilizer means food....and bio fuels.

China has stopped exporting its fertilizers (nitrogen, potash, phosphates) to take care of their domestic needs first. Same with the former USSR, aka, Russia. Europe needs fertilizers to go food. In the Western Developed countries of Europe, some countries rely on imported fertilizers to grow their food to feed the masses. “Three missed meals leads to Revolution.”—author unknown.

In the USA, a massive country, some of the fertilizer shortages are due to factories being shut down during the China Virus from Wuhan. Some face labor shortages. About 18% goes into the bio-gasoline mix grown in the farm belt, as required by law. All these food staples need fertilizers. Sure, one can skip the fertilizers for a year, maybe two, but the yields will be smaller and thus lead to more food shortages. But, the real story is happening in Europe, Eurasia, Vietnam, etc.

The Biden Administration got on its high horse and banned exports from Belarus, along with Canada and the UK. Belarus two main products that give it access to foreign currency is oil and potash. The UK for some reason exempted potash from the Belarus sanctions, lol. The UK has been importing potash from America since the early Colonial times; once the biggest export from from the New World to the Crown.

Not surprisingly, the EU has weakened its sanctions on Belarus to exclude potash and/or just knock down the percentages they receive (imports from Belarus) a
some. Belarus cut off Poland. Oh my. Each individual EU country must make sure they have enough fertilizer to take care of their own...first.

I wonder if Europe and other countries feel ‘food insecure’ yet?

re: Potash. That's interesting stuff. Apparently there are details to the economic war underway that make sense to somebody, potassium levels in potash fer example.

Economics warfare uses banks as weapons of course, as a person looking remarkably like a surprised member of the Team America World Police cast informs us.

My suggestion is a full-court press of a boycott of Belarus plus forward basing nuclear missiles and the freed-up troops from Afghanistan in Ukraine (along with Meal Team 6 from the Bundeswehr). That should help along Washington's need for more excitement.

During the 6 Day War when Israel demolished the Egytian Air Force and even Kissenger was pleading with Israel to stop advancing on its enemies.Later was the ensuing OPEC oil embaago and gas lines in the news. Seems all of the media was talking about the wars over oil in the future.
Every talking head except one. He said the big war in the future will not be over oil, but food. He went on to say there is enough water soluble potash (potassium) in the Dead Sea to feed the world.

Israel and Armageddon? Food over oil, Whether that happens or not, I have always remembered that lone voice crying in the wilderness. Potash? Go figure.

The left and the Dems must be pretty pleased a white kid shot up a high school. No more need to explain an SUV carelessly harming some people out in the street.
The gun nuts (the folks that are insane and want to pass laws about guns) wasted no time in climbing on top of the bodies to appear to be of higher stature:
"He went on to call the footage “absolutely terrifying to watch”, adding, “All of those kids who fled that violence, all of those kids who now don’t think of school as a safe place, they are going through trauma and will go through trauma that will take a lifetime to address.”"
No, Virginia - he's not talking about Chicago or Philly or any other large metro run by Dems - shootings in those places are just part of life we need to get used to. We're talking here about white children in a mostly white suburban mid-western town.
He has the answer - actually - no, he doesn't.
"Murphy acknowledged that the expansion of background checks would not have necessarily prevented the school shooting..."
Actually, it wouldn't have at all.
“I don’t claim that this proposal nor any other proposal to change the nation’s gun laws will have an effect on every single shooting” but argued that expanded background checks “saves lives, decreases gun violence, [and] decreases violent crime”.
So - it doesn't work on any actual circumstance they can name, but by god, by some pixie magic it will work! Quick question - what's the tally on school shootings where the various presidents had their kids attend? Oh, that's different. OK.

You really just have to laugh sometimes at how tribal humans are. In-group favoritism is a thing and physical differences (followed by things like culture and speech) make a lot of evolutionary sense. We are seeing the opposite of that right now in a few quarters, but it's a passing phase. There's some deep mental circuitry being tapped here.

I wish I had a long enough lifespan to see how the destruction of color-blindness as public policy plays out (it's racist after all). I can guess how the prison rec yard part forms up (ie. just regular people), but not sure how their lords and masters, the metastasized version of prison administration called government and business executives, will clique up.

Two central questions (to me).
. Does diversity always lead to competing teams? What is the social glue in states with diversity?
. Will the issue of the day move from blacks plus allies vs. everyone else to an all against all fight for status and resources?
