"Some Democrats believe the key to success in the midterm election relies on the ability of Congress to get Biden’s agenda passed.

According to Politico:

If Democrats are able to muscle voting rights legislation through Congress and also pass Biden’s Build Back Better agenda — and if inflation and Covid come under control — one state party executive director said Democrats could at least maintain a sufficiently large minority in the House to “block bad things from happening.”

The Democrats face an uphill battle attempting to pass Biden’s Build Back Better agenda"

scenes 7:20 - Well, that was a happy good morning look at the world! Pretty accurate except the part about people suffering. So far, the middle class (like me) ain't happy about the stock market but we really aren't suffering (yet). The poor in this country and most other developed ones are doing just fine with obesity and boredom being their biggest actual issues.
The ONE good thing (if you can see it this way) about a world economy is that no matter who might hate who, everyone knows that if the house of cards collapses the whole kit n kaboddle goes down. I still think printed money will be tolerated for quite a while yet. I realize the band aid WILL only stretch so far. It looks like I think it might stretch farther than others. We'll find out - won't we!

"scenes 7:20 - Well, that was a happy good morning look at the world! "

I do my best.

I'm really fascinated by the concept of lockdowns and the constant COVID drumbeating as a tool for worldwide money printing. You don't even need a central cabal since there's a kind of physics to money that forces their hand. The balancing act gets harder to maintain and, of course, they longer you wait the larger and more universal the crash.

Bleach drinking in the news,

This all started with Trump when he said:

“And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute,” he said. “And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs, and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that.”

In today's news:

QAnon cultists gathered in Dallas have started drinking an industrial disinfectant mixed into a chemical cocktail.

Family members of a Delaware woman who left her husband and children to await John F. Kennedy's return have confirmed that she's drinking the chemical mixture containing chlorine dioxide from a communal bowl, in a rite that cult researchers find extremely alarming, reported the Dallas Observer.
"This feels like a progression," said Mike Rothschild, author of the book The Storm is Upon Us that examines the QAnon movement. "It immediately evokes images of Jonestown and Heaven's Gate."

The woman's family said she has personally mixed up the cocktail and distributed it to group members.

I doubt it goes anywhere. You need power in addition to evidence (and sometimes not even that) to get anything done in that world.

My working theory is that the grifters and true believers operating those campaigns have a certain lack of morality on both Team Red and Blue sides. The difference is that Team Blue has ownership of the social media monopolies, 17 intelligence agency management, federal bureaucracy, school management. It's more a matter of opportunity than motive.

You can argue that if BLM, men-in-dresses, and the surveillance capitalism companies managed to so slickly take over affairs, they probably deserve to be given all reins of power. You may not be interested in Crazytown, but Crazytown is very interested in you.

Scott O

scenes 6:58 - "You may not be interested in Crazytown, but Crazytown is very interested in you."
At the level you're talking about, it isn't a crazy-town. There IS very much a crazy town but it's being used by folks that are not crazy. There doesn't have to be a secret cabal to run things despite their little get-togethers now and then. If you and I both live in the same neighborhood, we don't need meetings and back channel communication to be on the same page about not wanting certain kinds of trouble in our little corner of the world. The folks that can pick up the phone and get someone else to force the plebes into certain actions consider the whole world their domain. And they like everything neat and tidy so they don't have to make any more decisions than necessary. Allowing the great unwashed to make their own choices as to how they move around and where they want to live is just too complicated and messy to be tolerated.
It all comes down to the laws of nature concerning power.
Power corrupts, power abhors a vacuum, etc.
Our little experiment here in the US was fun while it lasted, but eventually we got fat, dumb and happy. Freedom requires an annoying (to modern man) amount of work and sacrifice.
Consider that George Washington et al were willing to put all their wealth and their lives on the table to put into effect a bunch of principles and ideas they eventually wrote out on paper. The average Joe of today's America wouldn't do that even if he could grasp the basic concepts.
Crazy-town is allowed to operate for one main reason. It IS crazy and no one really likes it but it's still here in various forms. Remember Bogart's best line ever: "you'll take it and like it".
Orwell understood how it works. It doesn't have to make sense - in fact it's better if it doesn't. Crazy-town may be crazy but it will be your town. You will submit.
Of course you have to boil the frog slowly and some frogs are quicker to notice the pot they're in isn't the warm waters of Hawaii. But most of the frogs these days will be happy to stay in the water sipping the provided comped drinks and watching a screen with the latest visual fun until it's too late.
Such is life.

I also doubt Durham’s probe will go nowhere. Strike that. I am rather confident no one will end up in the clink. No big house up the river for anybody. Still, I follow the story when news dribbles out to follow the corruption and lawlessness of the Deep State and entrenched bureaucracy, aka, our government.

The FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith who changed evidence and bold faced lied to the FISA court got probation….and the DC bar has reinstated his law license WHILE still on probation for his conviction. Reinstated his license to practice law as he is serving his light sentence. Unbelievable. Not even fired.

Andy McCabe who was fired from his high ranking DOJ position by Jeff Sessions for leaking classified intel to the press had to wait about 5 years to receive his full retirement package….well lookie here. “The Justice Department has agreed to restore full law enforcement benefits and provide some attorney fees for former FBI Deputy Director.”
Not only does he get all the deferred money he was not entitled to, we had to pay his attorney fees…and back pay!!!

FBI director James Comey, prior to the first FISA warrants against the Trump campaign, had been yelled at in court and admonished severely by the FISA judge for submitting sloppy, inaccurate, and bogus applications to the Court. The Court told him to clean up his act and submit his plan to make sure the integrity of the warrants applied for are accurate. Comey blew the FISA court off…..again, before CIA informant Carter Page’s name was on anyone’s radar. No consequences for bad behavior. Our top law enforced department are/were law unto themselves. That sure ain’t Justice. Justice seeks the truth wherever the chips may lay.

Love the quote from Andy McCabe. “My family should never have had to go through this.”
But, it’s ok to destroy other people’s families, right?

I seriously doubt that anyone will have to suffer consequences for their actions.

She's probably correct.

Since Harris is basically pure ambition poured into a human form, the 'right' time is some other time.

From CNBC Aug 12, 2020 "Democratic vice presidential pick Sen. Kamala Harris on Wednesday blamed President Donald Trump for the severity of the coronavirus outbreak in the United States."

CNN Sept 5, 2020 "Asked by CNN's Dana Bash in a clip released Saturday whether she would get a vaccine that was approved and distributed before the election, Harris replied, "Well, I think that's going to be an issue for all of us."

Hey, it's typical politician behavior. The bummer is that policy is also set by it. If you change your mind on vaccines (for example) per this guy:
you aren't allowed to go forward with a new theory. It's more important to be reelected (or to elect your friends) than it is to be right. Fear of embarrassment is the prime motivating force. Twas ever thus.

***“The number of respondents who said they “strongly disapproved” of the president was up six percentage points from the most recent Marist poll, published Dec. 9.”…..***

“The poll showed Biden underwater among respondents of every household income, age and racial demographic. Perhaps most alarmingly for the White House and congressional Democrats, 65 percent of Latinos said they disapproved of Biden’s job performance, while just 33 percent said they approved.

Similarly, nearly two-thirds of self-described independents (66 percent) said they disapproved of Biden’s efforts, while just 29 percent approved.”

A public school system in Michigan spent 21 days teaching adults in the district how to be good "equity" allies, capped with a direct call for them to join a Black Lives Matter political protest.

Farmington Public Schools in Michigan released a "21 Day Equity Challenge" for interested parties in the district, aiming to help individuals "learn how to more effectively understand and celebrate our differences"

"Our Mission Statement is ‘Farmington Public Schools, together with our community, will engage every student in a quality experience, empowering each student to become a thoughtful, contributing citizen in a changing world,’" the school district wrote. "With this in mind, we, together with you, hope to deepen our understanding about the members of our community and to use this knowledge to confront bigotry, hatred, and discrimination against any individual or group."

On the final day of the challenge, the calendar offered a "personal action plan sheet" for students to track their progress on the issue from an individual perspective. Directives given on the sheet include suggestions, such as to "donate to causes that support the Black LGBTQ+ community," "join a Black Lives Matter or an affiliated protest" and "donate to bail efforts supporting people arrested for protesting against injustice."

Previous days of the calendar were similarly progressive, including offering white privilege checklists, lessons on the gender spectrum and the "microaggressions" of meritocracy.

Day 18 of the "equity challenge" includes a link to a list of "microaggressions" to avoid, such as calling America "the land of opportunity."

FYI: The reason folks in Puerto Rico have not rebuilt there homes/shacks is because the government of Puerto Rico has allowed thousands upon thousands of people to squat on other people’s land (private property) for years rather than deal with the housing problem. FEMA and HUD are there to help….but if you want a loan or grant or assistance to rebuild, first thing they ask for is proof you own the property on which your home stands. That’s why folks in Puerto Rico still have tarps over there humble abodes. It would be like squatters on my or your property (hypothetical) getting federal assistance to rebuild on their abodes on your land.

"No minds were changed."

Thinking about impractical do-goodism.

I was considering all of the grid-based solar panels stuck around the county. You can make a case for a fully off-grid setup if you are willing to pay the big bucks and have a good need for it (or it's just a hobby), but why have a batteryless solar panel in Nevada County?

. It's an area that's not incredibly sunny year 'round, has trees, has some snow.
. Why not just buy a fraction of a great big commercial panel set somewhere in the desert? (that's not a bad idea for company if PG&E was cool with it using the current sellback rules).

My guess is that that whole business of selling power back to the utility companies, which you know darned well they don't want to buy, is somehow tied to home real estate. No doubt you could build a big ol' solar facility and sell at wholesale market rates, but that's a different issue.

Now...maybe there's some trickiness that could be done where the underlying fraction of the solar facility has property also owned by the homeowner as a workaround? Probably not.

BT 6:07 - You have to wonder what superlatives and spittle blowing nonsense they'll come with to top all of that?
I'd say by next year they'll be accusing the R's of pulling the limbs off of their own children.

From 2001 to 2018, U.S. free trade with China eliminated 3.7 million American jobs from the economy — 2.8 million of which were lost in American manufacturing. During that same period, at least 50,000 American manufacturing plants closed down.

“If you go back a generation, the idea was if we make China into the WTO … that sent a lot of American production capacity over to China,” DeSantis said:

The American elites thought ‘Well, that will make China more like us, they won’t be a rogue country, they’ll respect human rights, and maybe become more democratic.’ And the reality is, not only has that not happened, it’s made China very powerful and the elites in the U.S. are the number one reason China is as powerful as they are with all that they’ve done. [Emphasis added]

But not only has it not improved China’s political culture, they’re arguably worse than they were even 20 to 30 years ago. And if anything, not only have the West … not influenced them to be more like the West tradition, they’re influencing the West to be more like them. If you look at how some of these major companies will behave when faced with Chinese disapproval, they will censor, they will do all these things, you’ll see groveling apologies … so the whole experiment with China has been a big failure for the United States. [Emphasis added]

We saw it when covid first hit … people wanted masks and all these other things and all of it was being produced in China. They basically controlled all of this. They have a lot of control over components of our economy which affects our national security and so I think that the U.S. as a whole should be disentangling from China but certainly our investments should be disentangling. [Emphasis added]

DeSantis made the remarks as he moved to revoke all proxy voting authority previously given to outside fund managers and introduced a plan to review all investments of the Florida Retirement System to see how many assets the state has in China-owned companies.

‘Key witness: Jan. 6 panel spent more time asking about Afghan withdrawal than Capitol attack’

I was in there for five hours, answered every question they asked," Patel said in an interview aired Wednesday on the John Solomon Reports podcast. "Because I have nothing to hide, and I want the truth to come out.”

"And let me just say this. They didn't even bring it up, I don't recall, the timeline. I had to submit it to them and the Inspector General, I had to submit to them. And I was prepared to go in depth into those documents. And we scarcely spent a minute or two on them in those five hours."

Patel said what surprised him was that congressional investigators seemed to want to spend more time on Biden's bungled Afghan withdrawal and the plans the Trump administration had left behind to end the war, as well as the U.S. force posture in the terrorist haven of Somalia.

"Again, I call for the testimony, for the transcript to be released," Patel said. "But I can say this, we spent less time talking about Jan. 6 and more time talking about Afghanistan, Somalia, and other matters.

"I had to prepare extensively, at a great personal cost to me and my legal team, to talk about everything Jan. 6. And, you know, you'd have to go back and ask the committee if they asked for the truth about what happened about the events around the 6th. I'm not sure what the withdrawal in Afghanistan and the true force posture in Somalia have to do with any of that."

Well, this explains a lot:

"Formed in 2001, the Coalition of Communities of Color (CCC) is an alliance of culturally-specific community based organizations with representation from the following communities of color: African, African American, Asian, Latino, Middle Eastern and North African, Native American, Pacific Islander, and Slavic. "

At least we are now getting down to brass tacks. It was Perfidious Albion vs. The World all along.

Honestly, it sounds like a pretty fair match-up.

Whose poll numbers tank during Christmas holidays? Joe Biden. Lol. Ever notice how when Biden’s poll numbers slide to being double digits upside down, Paul disappears? Weird phenomenon indeed.
