[Had a wave of nostalgia reading ‘The Last of the Afternoon Newspapers’ by Peter Funt. The last two are located in Livingston, Montana serving about 4,500 readers. During my 10-13 age in Indianapolis, I had two paper routes - first one in the city where I carried a large canvas bag of papers strapped across my shoulder, and second one in the suburbs where much bigger saddlebags were permanently on the back rack of my balloon tire Schwinn. As a kid I worked hard for the $5/week that sometimes was left over from my collections after I paid the Indianapolis News route manager for the newspapers I ordered and sold – every kid was a little businessman who was assigned a territory in which he had to market, deliver, and collect. It was one of my early lessons about the real world of business. Have any RR readers had a paper route somewhere in their past? gjr]

How about some ham handed media manipulation to create a false narrative with deceptive editing. Here is the headline then the reality -
https://currently.att.yahoo.com/att/cm/trump-storms-fiery-piers-morgan-211540211.html
This is a pathetic attempt to use President Trump as a way to revive the career of a failed television host,” Taylor Budowich, Trump’s communications director, told Breitbart News. “It is also another example of President Trump being right, as he told Piers Morgan that the host was dishonest to his face, and Piers, for the first time in his life, didn’t disappoint.”
The 30-second clip that Morgan’s team released splashed across tabloids and media outlets, taking the lead spot across the Drudge Report with multiple links accusing Trump of having a “meltdown.” In it, Morgan splices several clips together that make it seem like as on-screen graphics and a deep male voice over says that Trump is a “former president in denial” over the 2020 election. The promo, which calls it “the most explosive interview of the year,” pulls a few short clips of Trump calling Morgan “a fool” and saying “this is very dishonest” and “let’s finish up the interview,” before showing Trump standing up and walking away and saying “turn the camera off.”
But that’s not what happened—not even close. Trump spent more than an hour with Morgan, and the way the promo clip cuts together what it calls “Morgan Versus Trump” moments to promote the interview which will air on this coming Monday night is particularly deceptive. Most of those moments had nothing to do with the election issue at all, and the full audio of the last bit of the interview shows that Trump standing up and walking away and saying “turn the camera off” came after Morgan ended the interview and thanked Trump for a “great interview.”

Looks like voter fraud does exist. Chack this out:
Mark Meadows claims to be SC resident 'for good' after registering in NC and voting in Virginia
"Meadows, who represented North Carolina for nearly a decade in Congress, came under national scrutiny following an article in The New Yorker alleging the Republican had registered to vote in the state at a mobile home he didn’t own. According to the publication, only his wife had visited the home, and no more than twice. In 2020, he used that address to vote as a North Carolinian in that year’s presidential election.
But Meadows was removed from that state’s voter rolls April 13 after documents showed he lived in Virginia and voted in that state’s 2021 election. The N.C. Attorney General’s Office is now pursuing its own investigation into the matter."

Salaried compensation is typically directly proportional to one's level of responsibility. Managing multi-billion dollar corporations involves great levels of responsibility that require uncommon skills and talents. PG&E generates revenues in excess of $20 billion. $50 million compensations amount to about 0.3% of those revenues. I don't find any of the above to be reason to consider free-market capitalism unsupportable. Do you?
Posted by: Michael Kesti | 21 April 2022 at 02:26 PM
PaulE 1227pm - PGE is a state-controlled monopoly and far from being a capitalist business enterprise. As such, its business risk environment is greatly reduced and the revenue impacting decisions management has had to make do not compare with those of a corporation competing in an open market. PGE management jobs are basically a sinecure and form a recognizable part of our politically patronized nomenklatura. Every investigation into that energy supplier's operations and field practices has revealed gross incompetence over the years, incompetence from which management has been immune.
MichaelK's 226pm assessment holds for free-market capitalist enterprises, and would also hold for PGE were it in that category.

‘Well not the ones you can see Bill!.’ Fair enough.
“Hey Biker Bill, with all that money you have, why don’t you kick down a buy a pair of glasses not found on a rack at the Dollar Store?”
I thought I saw a jackrabbit wearing glasses once, but 1) jackrabbits don’t count and 2) hard to tell for sure with my eyeballs and all. A trust issue with my eyeballs.
Only Cottontails count. And to think the SJW’s have gone after Beatrix Potter. Peter Rabbit too? Is nothing off limits?

SJW newsflash, breaking: Now they are going after Tinkerbell as a sexual predator or some violation. Tinkerbell? Tinkerbell?! Not only Tinkerbell, but Captain Hook as well. Something about dissing the disabled. Yes, Peter Pan himself and the whole story is “problematic”. Mercy.
Now, the question begging to be asked is, Who lives in NeverNeverland? The SJW’s or normal kids?
The Unhappy Lot kills off Tinkerbell as well as stories chief antagonist. Darn. Every good children’s story has a good guy, a good sidekick, and the evil villain. Hard for me to be sympathetic to Captain Hook, but then again, I lack true humanity and empathy for those still suffering Captain Hooks and the Big Bad Wolves of yonder days. Well George and Michael PG&E is raising our bills to them and at the same time paying their exec over 20 Million bucks a year. They could at least be asking her to take some sort of proportionate reduction in salary. Of course she represents the ruling class and they have no connection to working class citizens who have to scuffle to pay their bills. I wonder what tax she pays if any. Is that public information?
Posted by: Paul Emery | 21 April 2022 at 03:44 PM
Paul
Never hurts to ask for her to take a cut in pay. PG&E is a publicly traded company. If the shareholders are not happy with compensation package of Patricia Poppe, chief executive officer with PG&E, then the shareholders are free to vote her out at the next shareholders’s meeting. If you want a direct say in the matter, may I recommend you buy a few shares of PG&E? Otherwise, you have no say.
Perhaps the PUC approved compensation packages for the hard working women (and men) running the company. PG&E can’t do squat without the PUC’s permission and authorization. Have you see the outrageous salaries the members of the PUC commission make….one the taxpayers’ dime? Outrageous. Otta be a law.
That really chaps my hide.

Paul - "Well George and Michael PG&E is raising our bills to them and at the same time paying their exec over 20 Million bucks a year."
The PUC has to approve the increase, Paul. And PG&E has to justify the increase in rates.
Who runs the PUC in CA, Paul?
Dems or Rs?
How much of the 'increase' goes to executive compensation and how much goes to other expenses?
How much in actual pennies per month does Paul have to pay to PG&E to pay for executive compensation?
"I wonder what tax she pays if any."
Why don't you ask the folks at ProPublica?
They seem to have a direct line to the IRS files.
Who runs the IRS?

Now - some folks pay a lot more than others so we assume Paul doesn't pay close to what others pay, but let's look at the average.
52 million gazoolas a year.
5.5 million customers.
Less than $9.46 a year.
Less than 79 pennies a month.
That's an average and is likely a lot more than Paul pays.
And that is a total amount, not the terrible increase Paul is quacking about.
The Biden admin is directly responsible for a much, much higher increase in the cost of living for Paul but he is too butt-stupid to acknowledge the urine his hero is spraying on him.

So now for the record I as saying don't use Emery as the last name for psul whoever that is.

Can you explain to me and other RR readers who you intended to respond to?
I’m sorry, due to a prior request I am unable to speak to you at this time. Your opinions are important to us.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Punchy, are you smoking crack or what? Here are the rules you and only you laid down. In YOUR own words:
“fish
It you'd like me to respond address your request to Paul, Psul Emery or Emery.
Posted by: Paul Emery | 25 March 2022 at 02:01 PM”
So, address you as Paul, Psul Emery or Emery? Ok Psul Emery, is Punch or Punchy ok?
So, whatever Slow Joe has, you done caught it. And all this time I thought it was a bad case of TDS. I was wrong. You retired just in the nick of time.
I only wish you would make up your mind. Address me as Psul Emery, don’t address me as Psul Emery….whoever that is.
Me thinks it’s not ‘the readers’ you hide behind that are confused. Straight from the horse’s mouth.
Guess we all just have to exercise more empathy for Punch and Biden. That’s how the cookie crumbles.

The Fed researchers, using data from the New York Fed/Equifax Consumer Credit Panel, estimated the cost of two federal loan forgiveness proposals, one for $10,000 and another for $50,000. They found that limited forgiveness and placing income caps on who would be eligible would "distribute a larger share of benefits" to low-income borrowers while also reducing the cost of forgiveness overall.

Jan 6 just a "normal tourist visit"according to GOP Rep. Andrew Clyde (Ga.) . I guess that normal visit would include using chemical spray on police officers. In today's news:
"James Phillip Mault pleaded guilty during Friday's court proceedings, with the Observer reporting he had been charged with assaulting, resisting or impeding officers during the riot that sent lawmakers fleeing for their lives.
"Court documents said Mault got a small canister of chemical spray from another member of the crowd and sprayed it at officers defending the tunnel. He got a second canister from the crowd and gave it to another rioter, records shows," the report states. "Earlier that afternoon, Mault was part of the crowd that overwhelmed a police line, 'forcing officers to retreat up a central staircase to the Lower West Terrace' at the Capitol, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office."
Bill, do you still believe the Jan 6 attack on the Capitol was not an insurrection?

Lorenz, who left The New York Times for the Washington Post this year, found herself back in the news this week when she revealed the identity of the previously anonymous woman behind the Libs of TikTok Twitter account, only a few weeks after crying on MSNBC because of online harassment she had faced herself.
Lorenz revealed her name, occupation, religion and where in the country she lived. The article even included a hyperlink that exposed personal information such as her work address – but the Post later removed the link after being called out by critics.

Ah! nostalgia time - again - and so soon.
RR from 10 Jun '21 - Inflation – Up close and personal
"In April (2021), the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers rose 0.8 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis; rising 4.2 percent over the last 12 months.”
An annual inflation rate of 4.2 percent is more than “uncomfortable.” But the looming threat of inflation seems to have fallen on deaf ears in Washington, D.C., over the past year, as Congress has supercharged spending to levels unseen since World War II. (From DB comment).
Not to worry - your fears are needless - inflation is nowhere NEAR 4.2% anymore! Nowhere near. Good job Mr. Biden.
How stupid were we for electing these idiots? I was going to say 'these guys' but women are increasingly part of it. Makes you feel like half the country doesn't like the country anymore.

Macron elected for second term as French president, leads Le Pen 58.2%-41.8% (Ipsos estimate)
The political scientist in me attributes Macron’s victory to his 30,000€ a month make up budget. Much more than LePen spends! It seems to be line with most progressive politicians…..except for Trudeau….who probably spends more due to his penchant for appearing in “black-face”.
I wonder how much the French government allots Macron for his monthly lingerie budget? It important for a guy to feel pretty while he steers his country into the ditch.

The Soros backed DAs and judges have come to destroy the Justice System, not to make it more fair or equitable or just. Total destruction. Criminal rights supersede victim’s rights or the convicted’s debts to society. Accountability goes out the window. Lord of the Flies comes to mind.

Just musing about Twitter this morning.
Let's say that this goes through...
. To what extent will the software and database infrastructure be sabotaged by 'woke' employees, how much will be damaged by 'stay behinds'? It somewhat rhymes with Donald Trump vs. activist federal employees. You can assume that 100% of Musk confidential conversations and communications will be leaked.
. Another reason to buy Twitter. It's a huge sandbox for AI engineers to play in and E.Musk is bound to have a large group of them plus a technological stack. It might even be a place to build-out Tesla Dojo systems.

Don’s 9:30 pm did a nice of tying in CNN, Netflix, and Twitter. Are the Lefties losing their microphone? Well, let’s not count the eggs before they hatch, but it looks like the Fakeness Enemy of the People Propaganda Deep State Machine had a bad week…or at least took a hit.
For the last month of or so, MSPMS and Brian Potato Head on CNN and NBC have been crying out, “Why aren’t people listening to us! We tell you the truth! Why, why, why? Alas.”
I saw a clip awhile back of some BLM or Gay Pride Parade and these young black girls started twerking in front of a retail store on the sidewalk…..and the black adults inside rushed out right quick and shut down that twerking dancing by young black girls. No Twerking allowed. That’s not who we are.
Guess those adult gentlemen and ladies have grown weary of having kids’ sexuality shoved in their faces as well. Good to hear that I am not the only one. Sprinkle some powdered sugar on the Netflix grooming original content grunt sandwich. And sprinkle some powdered sugar on that CNN turd….and on Brian Settler’s head. CNN sucks, CNN sucks, Joy Reid and Joy Behr are threats to our democracy!
No twerking allowed.
