More about Trump opposing Pence being rescued from mob who were chanting "Hang Pence"'

"The Jan. 6 select committee has heard testimony indicating that then-President Donald Trump — after rioters who swarmed the Capitol began chanting “hang Mike Pence” — expressed support for hanging his vice president, according to three people familiar with the matter."

‘Biden's approval rating falls to record low in new poll’
The president's approval keeps sinking lower and lower.

“President Biden's approval rating has plummeted to its lowest point of his presidency, according to a new poll released Friday.

The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Research poll shows just 39% of U.S. adults approve of the president's job performance.

In addition, the polls found just roughly two in 10 adults say the country is headed in the right direction or that the economy is good. Both figures are down from roughly three in 10 adults last month.

The poll was conducted May 12-16 among 1,172 U.S. adults with a sampling error of 4 percentage points.

Even among Democrats, just 33% of members of the president's party said the country is headed in the right direction, compared to 49% in April.

The results of the poll reflects a widespread sense of pessimism over such so-called kitchen table issues as inflation, including record gas prices and the sudden shortage of baby formula, amid further concerns about attempts to cool the economy resulting in a recession.“

Boy, pick a poll and Biden sets new records. Creepy Joe, can we really tax our way out of inflation?

Po' ol' robert francis can not even plan a good stunt -

"Well, I did see what happened just before the press conference started. I was in the third row on the aisle, and there were two people across the aisle from me. And a moment before the press conference started, they got up from their seats when Beto walked in, so they were seat holders for him," Shamlian recounted. "Then, he sat down. So his presence wasn’t really noticed in the 15 or 20 minutes that people were gathering inside, because he was not in the room. This seems something very clearly from Beto O’Rourke wanting to confront the governor at this moment."

I've known about this for a while, but waited until it got fast enough to use.

Just for fun.

So George

Do you have any problem with an 18 year old in Texas being able to buy two AR-15 style rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition with no background check? I mean you can't buy a beer when you're 18 in Texas but you can buy guns with no background check. How does that make sense to you?

Welcome to the world run by Democrats.

Scott O

Psul - "Do you have any problem with an 18 year old in Texas being able to buy two AR-15 style rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition with no background check?"
Are you talking about a specific case, Psul or are you just drunk-texting?
Is there some other way you would be happy with an 18 year old killing children, Psul?
How many children have been killed in Chicago in the last year? I haven't noticed any leftists being alarmed by that. Why the sudden outpouring of stupidity and anger now?
Ah, that's right - the Dems are facing annihilation in the mid-terms and they need bodies to stand on to try to get votes.
NEVER let a crises or a tragedy go to waste.

By golly, even someone on the actual Left can see what a damned disaster the Biden 'administration' is.

The handful of anti-militarists and critics of empire from the left, such as Noam Chomsky, and the right, such as Ron Paul, have been declared persona non grata by a compliant media. The liberal class has retreated into boutique activism where issues of class, capitalism and militarism are jettisoned for “cancel culture,” multiculturalism and identity politics. Liberals are cheerleading the war in Ukraine. At least the inception of the war with Iraq saw them join significant street protests. Ukraine is embraced as the latest crusade for freedom and democracy against the new Hitler. There is little hope, I fear, of rolling back or restraining the disasters being orchestrated on a national and global level. The neoconservatives and liberal interventionists chant in unison for war. Biden has appointed these war mongers, whose attitude to nuclear war is terrifyingly cavalier, to run the Pentagon, the National Security Council, and the State Department.

Paul Emery

Okay Scott

Let me ask you the question:

"Do you have any problem with 18 year old Salvador Ramos in Texas being able to buy two AR-15 style rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition with no background check?"

Scott O

re scenes 6:31 - You know the old adage about politics: "don't make enemies and don't piss people off".
There's nothing new here in principle, but it does seem that the left and the Dems are particularly childish and petty in the way they throw their weight around. It shows how thin-skinned and unprofessional they are.

Scott O

Psul - why are you couching your question as a hypothetical?
Does reality bother you, Psul?

Punchy, every retail sale of a firearm in the USA triggers a background check. Ramos passed.

In most every state outside of Cali, there is no background check for ammo purchases.

Scott O

Ah, Gregory - you spoiled all my fun!

Scott O

Maybe we should have folks from a "certain" community pass some sort of anger-against-white-folk test before we let them drive cars.
Could have saved a lot of lives.
It's for the children.

Scott O

Daily Kos has some interesting stuff - apparently the kid didn't have the 'Father Knows Best' type of upbringing.
So it's the Republicans' fault for allowing a kid that stutters to buy a fire arm.
Well - actually it's the Republicans' fault for not incarcerating him and forcing him to undergo therapy.
Or something.
Maybe a "background check" could be the people that work with him instead of some stupid run of a criminal background check. And that leads to problems of all sorts.
Maybe just reflect on the fact that 'important people' don't have to worry about these trivial matters with their kids.
Say - hows that investigation going of Hunter lying on his application for a firearm?
What a frickin joke.

Texas school shooting: Obama clobbered for linking Uvalde massacre to two-year mark of George Floyd's murder

Psul: "able to buy two AR-15 style rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition with no background check?""

I'm genuinely curious where the 'no background check' came from. Was there a news story that said that? or is it just trying to juice up the statement a little bit?

It's genuinely hard to always be accurate and peoples' minds will fill in the blanks with sketchy knowledge. I can't blame Psul since, no doubt, I fall into the same trap.

Regarding AR-15 style (a reasonable description) rifles, the odd thing to me is how that always becomes central to the story. A large part of the country has a real hard-on about those even though I can only think of a couple of cases where military pattern rifles were used to the shooter's advantage (Hollywood shoutout and the guy in Las Vegas maybe?). The Islamist at Fort Hood probably stumbled onto what works best for lunatics on soft targets, a semiautomatic handgun (a Five-seven). Dunno how you round up all of those.

Scott O

scenes - "I'm genuinely curious where the 'no background check' came from."
It's Psul's charming little way of posing hypos in his hope of catching one of us off guard.
Or maybe just his abysmal ignorance.
Hard to tell.
One could pose that query to him but you know he'll rejoin with another childish round of nonsense.

Scott O

re scenes "...the odd thing to me is how that always becomes central to the story."
Let's go back to when they couldn't blame Trump:
"Over the next 96 minutes he shot and killed 14 people, including an unborn child. One final victim died from injuries in 2001, 35 years later. Whitman also injured 31 others."
He started by stabbing his wife and mother to death the previous night. They don't count as victims because he didn't shoot them.
No AR-15!!
So - no biggie.
And did I mention the mid-terms are coming up?
It's the narrative man! C'mon!
What! Did you think the kids' lives actually mean anything to Psul and the left?
Only when it's to their political advantage.
Maybe they could compare the vital signs of the kids mowed down in the Christmas parade vs the kids shot in Texas. Near as I can tell a zero pulse and zero brain function kinda count the same no matter the cause, but I'm just a humble civilian.

Scotto: " including an unborn child."

Maybe one of the local marchers can make it clearer to me whether those are human or not. It seems to be up in the air right now.

I see that the guy at UT used a Remington Model 700. I believe those are called 'sniper rifles' when they aren't used to shoot deer.

It's a complicated problem. I'm poking through the murderers here (and prior years):
and looking at the handful of mass shooters that meet the standards set by MSM and all the opinionated people. That is to say, young/white/crazy/male. It's a pretty small percentage, but there's no point in lumping these people together anyhow.

So how can you keep young/white/crazy/males from causing mayhem? No doubt a combination of decent parents, a girlfriend, and a bright future would help in a lot of cases, but those things appear to be out of reach in modern America. Maybe Bernie Sanders can fix all their problems.

Bill Tozer

Wonder what triggered that Korean student at Virginia Tech? He left 32 murdered. Anyway…….without background check. Good one. Gregory had to help Punchy out. It was the decent thing to do.
Secret Service report on school shootings.

Gov’t ‘“assault ban” study does not say what Biden claims it does.

‘Studies Find No Evidence That Assault Weapon Bans Reduce Homicide Rates’
The studies, data, and examination of the available evidence by scholars suggest that assault weapon bans or buybacks will have little if any effect on rates of violent crime and gun violence.

Don 7:51 - Gotta love those kind words from Obama about Floyd: "His killing stays with us all to this day, especially those who loved him."
Well - his dealer liked the cash, but I'm not sure he loved him. The woman he menaced with a gun during a robbery probably isn't real fond of him but golly he's the bee's knees to the Obama family. Just the sort of thug Obama wants his little kittens to marry.
Barry would have had the SS gun Floyd down in a heart beat if the man had gotten any where near his daughters.

Mass shooters (FBI sez 4 or more in one incident) are obviously nearly all 9mm pistol users, so I thought I'd look at situations that rhyme a little better.

School shooters in the US...weapon followed by the number of people murdered.

Dynamite: 44
Handgun: 32, 13
AR variant: 27, 21, 17
Bolt action rifle: 16

Why the crazy school shooter wouldn't simply switch to a handgun if all small semiauto rifles magically disappeared is something I can't see happening. As an aside, any anti-AR15 law would sweep up the whole range of .308/7.62 rifles which I can't imagine anyone using for evil doing.

Scott O

scenes: "As an aside, any anti-AR15 law would sweep up the whole range of .308/7.62 rifles which I can't imagine anyone using for evil doing."
Any "anti-AR15" sweep would result in zero law enforcement support. Not just in Idaho but everywhere in the US.
Are they planning "no-knock" warrants? And who will they target?
This is silly and dangerous babble by people who wouldn't ever think of actually participating in any such "sweep".
Anyway - go with what Biden told you do and buy a shotgun.
Just fire 2 blasts. Doesn't matter if it's the Girl Scouts or the Feds.
Just fire 2 blasts.
Buy a shotgun.

As I posted a while ago - "The crazzzzy brings out the stupid."
I'm starting to think this is all a mass psychosis event type of thing. A lot of basically stupid people become agitated and frightened by something that is most likely not going to ever affect them personally but due to the mass media of political-slanted news they go off their rocker thinking and saying idiot statements. 20 children is a drop in the bucket nationally but "scary weapon" becomes the theme.
How about we start confiscating your cars/trucks/motorcycles? Why not? It's for the children.

It gets better and better!
Daily Kos now features an obviously toxic male macho donkey as a rallying cry to - uh, well not sure what kind of violence.
"I was already filled with hatred and rage toward the right-wing radical FUCKS that are destroying my country"
Oh - hatred and rage.
Gee, seems like seconds ago the left called the right a bunch of angry white men.
So - as a white, conservative male after reading stuff like this, maybe I'm justified in wanting to go out and buy a fire arm to defend myself from unhinged lefty lunatics like this?
Great quote:
I can suggest something!
Show up in my neighborhood with that attitude and you will have more than suggestions.
But of course that won't happen, will it sweet pea?

BT @ 8:49PM-

Under the "Plotter Demographics" section (page 11) of the Secret Service report, they included plotters' ages (11 to 19), (so the Korean student at Virginia Tech would not be included), and genders too. Sorry - two. Only 2 genders to choose from - male/female. Missing was the race/ethnicity of the plotters. Normally that is considered part of 'demographic', since demographic data often include age, sex, race, education, religion.

Also not mentioned is the presence of fathers in the household.

I don't know why race would not be considered relevant to this 2021 report, since liberals are about identity. I conclude that whites did not make up a large majority of the 'plotters'.

The new 'C' word.

lol. I swear it would be nice to wake up and not see some new insane thing bursting forth from Crazytown.

from Scotto's Daily Kos article:

I admire their spirit. The brave thing to do (whoops, in view of the SF School District's prohibition of 'chief', I expect that 'brave' is next. Don't know what the navy is planning on doing.) is to follow the Left's control of computers and government bureaucracy:
