‘Workers of the world, arise and celebrate the day that brings us together to again be thankful for the blessings of collectivism that unite us in a revolution to make socialism available to all peoples everywhere.’ - or something similar. Inflation Tax. Last year many of us already saw the salacious intents of the Biden administration in how they were systematically going about to ruin the nation. Among the many disasters they were cooking up was inflation. Well, it’s here now, and the piece I posted then (here) is definitely worth reviewing by those who are impacted by inflation and those who are planning to be so impacted. I count myself among the latter, so it’s time to review the taxing aspects of inflation (here). And for those who are spreadsheet challenged, I made a spreadsheet with the formulas from the ‘Inflation – up close and personal’ post. Download InflationInvesting2
Wealth tax: The Build Back Bullshit agenda is still not dead and buried. Team Bumblebrain has every intent on passing most of its provisions, especially those increasing our taxes. The administration's entire team on economics are double dummies who couldn’t pass Econ 101. They continue to tell the sheeple that we can tax ourselves out of an inflationary spiral. Even Keynes, the lord of demand-siders, counseled against raising taxes in an inflation infested economy. (more here)
Election corruption right here in River City? My bride and a commenter picked up on a thinly disguised campaign ad in the 30apr22 Union for Natalie Adona, our Soros'(?) foreign plant Assistant Registrar of Voters, who is running for the county’s Clerk Recorder – Registrar of Voters in the 7jun22 election. The ad, pictured below, is made to look like a public service announcement from the Nevada County Clerk Recorder – Registrar of Voters office. Notice the formal seal in the lower right corner. Were it a bona-fide voter info notice from that office, then it would have been published under the aegis of our current holder of that office, Greg Diaz. It does not speak well for The Union to have allowed this campaign ad to appear without some corrective editorial comment.
I'm going to guess The Union would not give such a space (a full quarter-page) without being paid for it... so who paid? The Adona campaign... but if it was a campaign ad... wouldn't The Union identify it as Paid for by the Adona for Recorder Campaign?
If it was paid for by the county they might not identify it as such... but then, the campaign could get dinged big time for accepting a campaign donation from a public entity and theft from the person who authorized the funds.
If it was donated space from The Union... where is the quarter page advert for the other person on the ballot?

There looks to be a valid fppc violation there with her name so big and bold at the top and the seal of the office tucked away at the bottom so its hardly noticeable. Yes it should have come from Diaz not the candidate. The county offices normally put the logo big and bold at the top of the document. Doing it right before the ballots hit the mailboxes is too obvious and heavy handed. Arrogance.
The grape vine has it that Adona is in trouble, so the story is circulating that she went to the dem central committee loudly complaining that she had no volunteers, no donations and no help from the central committee.
Why would she think people would want their name associated with the crazy lady in the videos who will forever be labeled by the Judge as being "marginally rational" hardly a qualifier for elected office. LOL

Can you explain why you characterize Natalie Adona as a "foreign plant Assistant Registrar of Voters"? What evidence do you have that some foreign entity installed her here and how did they do it? I assume she's an American citizen. Just curious

PaulE 820pm - 'foreign' = outside our region and California. Recently trained elsewhere and moved here for registrar job. Perhaps it is all a coincidence that a person with a JD shows up to do a mid-level bureaucrat's job. And perhaps similar appearances in other jurisdictions is also a coincidence. Soros has been known to do worse - e.g. blanket country with law-ignoring prosecutors. Of course she's an American citizen, so are Pelosi, Schumer, and Biden.
Your apparent approval of that campaign ad kinda says it all.

Adona at best is a carpetbagger here to milk the Sierra rubes. Too clever by half.

George
As a matter of fact I don't approve of the ad but your truly bizarre "foreign plant" summation stole all the thunder. So what you are saying is that there is something inherently evil about someone from outside the area moving here and doing the work she's been doing and she's been trained elsewhere. And so what if she has a J.D. which is a Juris Doctor degree. Does that disqualify her from running for office or doing the job she's been doing?
George, your conspiracy inclinations have reached new levels of paranoia. Can you show me some details about how she's linked to Soros?

re: Miss Marginally Rational.
Honestly that, and her behavior in the youtube vidya, is enough to get a reasonable person to not vote for her, but I don't doubt that placing 'who counts the votes' is a good tactic for taking over a country. A modern progressive will always choose the activist over the apolitical administrator while convincing themselves they are doing right by the people.
I guess you could learn something by looking at a former employer, the Democracy Fund. Maybe the evil hand of Soros isn't even needed to get the desired results.
https://www.influencewatch.org/non-profit/democracy-fund/
If nothing else, by installing that sort of apparatchik, you'll get Nevada County on the national news every single damn time that she doesn't like how something is going. I guess that any PR is good PR. A quick googling gives the Marginally Rational One quoted on the Washington Post, NPR, Rolling Stone, Sacbee, PBS, etc. The Outrage Machine never sleeps.
Maybe it's that modern people can't just put their nose down and work. Life has to be full of drama and being star of your own show. In her age group, there's nothing to be gained by choosing one candidate over another.
Posted by: scenes | 02 May 2022 at 07:08 AM
To be fair to Miss Marginally Rational, it's mostly impossible to tell from my EZ-chair whether she would suck at her job or not. Give me ten minutes talking to her co-workers and I'll have near-certainty.
People are going to vote based on a photograph, some name recognition, and whether she 'looks' like someone from their side of the tracks. Dunno if this is a good way to appoint someone who is, in the final analysis, an administrator of laws and policies they didn't write.
So, is this gig a good one for an election? or should they be appointed by the Board of Supervisors or the County CEO? Having said that, it sure would be nice to make it easier to fire people in those highly unionized shops.

Well, at least she isn’t from Tacoma. When she was seen on video yelling ‘Why aren’t you following my orders’ , or ‘Why aren’t you listening to me!’, that was it for me. A department head, a leader, the office person in charge must behave themselves as a leader with cool, calm, and collected responses and persona. A judicial temperament is expected and hopefully required for a County Department head. She failed the test. She lost her cool under fire. She freaked.
Those standards do not apply to the public, but do apply to and are expected from elected public officials. She failed the test, bigly.
I do not usually give a hoot about local elections as I don’t know any of the names of the ballot from local school board candidates to dog catcher. I, in all sincerity, am not sure who my Supervisor is without looking the name up.
With that said, I can’t wait to vote this year. I am ready to vote today to vote NO! against the emotionally unstable Marginally Rational. I will donate to any of her opposing candidates. Unfit for the job
Besides, Marginally Rational is still going through intensive therapy for her PTSD along with Acanthomyrmex EMERY. She won’t be cured by election time.

I don't recall you complaining when an ad paid for by the county touted the accomplishments of the supes. I'm sure it was just a coincidence that the ad appeared in The Union shortly after the recall campaign was announced.
You ding Adona for being a carpetbagger. Surely you don't begrudge the fact that she was a military brat whose father served honorably wherever he was called? You know, like Jason Tedder.
You also view with suspicion Adona's JD degree. How about the one Tedder says he's currently pursuing?
Perhaps we should consider Paul Gilbert's candidacy. Aside from having the sketchiest bio of any candidate I've ever seen (who is this guy?), his "audit" of the 2020 election showed a lack of even the most rudimentary numeracy you're always decrying in your fellow citizens.
The Adona ad was deceptive and constitutes an unforced error that could have easily been avoided. If Diaz thought he was doing her favor, he wasn't. But the ad does highlight the fact that, unlike her opponents, Adona actually knows something about the job.

Conspiracy? what conspiracy? Soros populated a goodly number of jurisdictions with his lackey lawyers as prosecutors - no secret there. It worked, crime is up as intended. Now why not do that for other public offices in which compliant accomplices can interpret the laws in a partisan manner? The Democrat and Republican parties have had grass roots programs for years to fill low level local offices with favored candidates and seed their eventual paths to higher office. If you got the money, why not scale up the process across the land?
It's always the leftwingers blinkered by their lamestream who evince surprise at the development of events already known to the rest of us, and then start hollering 'conspiracy' and 'paranoia' when they finally find out. Today examples of this are legion from the last few years.

GeorgeB 945am - Good point on the supes' ad. But how do you connect that with the Adona campaign ad? The supes' ad celebrated the accomplishments of the entire BoS, just like the state and federal level politicians, who constantly pat themselves on the back from their offices, websites, etc paid for by taxpayer funds.
Given her background, lack of local roots, and the mid-level bureaucrat job she's doing in a small rural county tucked away in the foothills, what do you think the odds are for this lawyer to pack it up for much greener pastures after her election job is done?

G. Boardmen:
" unlike her opponents, Adona actually knows something about the job."
"The Adona ad was deceptive "
I'm trying to grok that, besides simply a wish to see Adona elected regardless of the reality on the ground.
So she is both knowledgeable and she is deceptive. Maybe being sketchy is a feature not a bug, I'm not sure. Generally you'd expect elections folks to be careful in their own elections, but I'd wager that it's a sinecure for the brother-in-law in a lot of large cities.
Judging from the vidyas, there appears to be a pretty high harpy level involved, but for all I know that's desirable in an elections official.
It's all so confusing.

re GeorgeB 219pm - Yes indeed, a lot of our public sector bureaucrats are imports; they're professionals and have to go where the next career advancement job is available - not too different from private sector professionals and careerists. The difference with those of Ms Adona's ilk is that she is part of a dedicated and purposed cohort with a political agenda. Her organization, Democracy Fund, is an absurdly progressive and partisan political organization having the gall to still call itself "non-partisan". More here -
https://democracyfund.org/idea/understanding-the-career-journeys-of-todays-local-election-officials-and-anticipating-tomorrows-potential-shortage/
By commenters here pointing this out does in no way imply that placement of such election officials around the country is an illegal activity. There are conservative outfits that attempt to do the same - the Institute for Humane Studies comes to mind. The important thing about Adona is to understand who she is and who are 'her people'. Her placement of campaign ads under the guise of county public service information is another matter completely, and deserves its own special attention by concerned citizens. I hope that The Union will attempt to get ahead of the curve on this and proactively look into the matter of who placed and paid for the ad.

Can you provide some documentation for your 4:33 post about the extent of sub-contracting and the poor quality of her work? What is you source for that that information? I know that when I was News Director of KVMR she was the go to person for election process information and I interviewed her several times and she always was available and informed on the topics I was interested in. The graphic George presented was typical of the job she took on as PR person for election processes although I agree her name was certainly puffed up to a remarkable size that I doubt would have been done if she wasn't running for office although the information she produced was well within the category of public information and did not promote her campaign. It was quite simply part of her job as PR person for the Elections Office.

Dobbs would not ban abortions. Abortion will be legal on a local basis. For instance pretty sure it will be legal (and encouraged) in California while Texas will likely ban abortion completely. Each state should make up their own minds through the democratic process. This one size fits all approach doesn’t work and is divisive. Further Roe was always ill-conceived constitutionally. The Dobbs opinion destroys Roe. Nuked it.

I'm afraid that would take a stronger force than has ever been invented. Gracile build can be mitigated with volume.
Barry P.: "Dobbs would not ban abortions. Abortion will be legal on a local basis."
That'll get lost in the firefight. Naturally, the Democratic pols will work this one to the max so it should be fun to watch. Maybe they'll hold the Congress as the USA sinks slowly into the briny depths. 5th C. Rome won't hold nothin' on us.
You do have to wonder about all the yelling about 'our bodies' when it's illegal to take a jillion sorts of recreational drugs, but expecting consistency in human affairs is a fool's errand. A sliding scale of human rights applied to a fetus as it becomes human is a tricky thing, in a way it's not dissimilar to giving enhanced protections to dolphins or chimpanzees.
In any case, the marches should be fun. Probably a good way to pick up chicks.

Unless of course Republicans control Congress and then pass legislation to make abortion illegal nation-wide. According to many people's reading of the draft decision that would be possible under the ruling. Of course that might change between now and the release of the final ruling.

“Of course that might change between now and the release of the ruling.”
Hit the nail on the head. My gut instinct is that the abortion draft was leaked to persuade John Roberts to cave and/or to mobilize the pro-abortion troops now and launch into more talk of stacking SCOTUS and reigniting the effort to end the Senate filibuster. Mid-terms are just too far away, must act now. Now! Just like in the first days, weeks of the Biden Administration.

Cankels is back in the news and again for all the wrong reasons -
A photo of Hillary Clinton attending the Met Gala received some brutal reaction from Twitter users on Monday evening.
The photo depicted Clinton walking the red carpet at the celebrity-studded event in a red ball gown. The failed presidential candidate was all smiles, posing for the camera without wearing a mask, while a masked African American gentleman – who appeared to be one of the event’s staff – doted on her, adjusting her dress.
Critics slammed the image as the perfect encapsulation of elitist privilege. One said it looked like something out of "The Hunger Games."
Right-wing radio host Austin Petersen remarked on what he perceived as the photo’s racist connotations. "From the Antebellum South, to Jim Crow, to modern America, Democrats haven't really changed all that much. #HillaryClinton," he tweeted.
"This photo perfectly encapsulates the current state of our country," tweeted conservative commentator Kyle Kashuv.
Conservative vlogger Blaire White commented on Kashuv’s post, tweeting, "This photo should be in history books that discuss Covid regulations."

Has the NY Times or WaPo ever referred to (correctly of course) Elon Musk as the noteworthy, richest, bestest.... African-American?
Yeah, didn't think so. If he isn't, who else could be?

Looks like The Union and Elections office relented. https://www.theunion.com/news/elections-office-addresses-qa-ad/

Yep. The county paid for an ad for her and during the recall after Diaz decided to retire and she decided to run. Diaz had to get her name out there because she has no name recognition and nobody knows her because she is from DC.

Dunno why there's a name on there at all, but I guess that any publicity is good publicity.
Maybe Scott Adams could run a Dilbert strip on this, and then The Union could censor it. Of course, 'Marginally Rational' really isn't pithy enough for a comic.
Heaven protect us from those folks who are driven by a need to be prominent. The lure of the soapbox is just too great for some.

Some people crave power and those are the people we should never elect. Marginally rational demands obedience from staff and citizen. She is unqualified. Period.
Posted by: Barry Pruett | 07 May 2022 at 07:13 AM
What was it she said in one of the videos... something like "I'm outraged you didn't follow my rules!"
Posted by: Gregory | 07 May 2022 at 09:30 AM
Good memory. “I am the rule maker!” Lol

I just wish that some boring old competent person, of any gender, who sticks to the law, would run for the office. Perfect for a retired auditor with no sense of humor.
You simply don't need Strong Wimmen with a Cause in or some Guy Rolling Coal w/Trump Flags in that gig.

re the 'explanation' from Adona: "“One of our temps designed it,” Adona said"
Oh, there we go.
Since a 'temp' designed it, Diaz and Adona HAD to run it as is. They were powerless.
Adona is a trained swamp snake.

Lill miss marginally rational really thinks people are as stupid as she is trying to say they had sent others out, only 1 under her name when she was not a candidate. Scummy slimy snake oil salesmen she be.

You know that musk cartoon about the lefts running further to the left over recent years helps explain why Maher sounds so reasonable now -
Maher said, “A lot of people are saying this is a loser issue, I’ll give you some brief numbers here why that is. 13% of Americans have college debt, federal college debt. So, that’s not a lot of people you’re working to. 65% don’t go to college at all. 50% of the college debt goes to people going to grad school…a lot of that is just bullshiting around. You don’t know what to do and you can keep going to school for free. So, it just looks like a loser issue for the party that is trying to win back the working class. That we’re going to subsidize — we who didn’t go to college and didn’t benefit from that are going to subsidize you to get your degree in gender studies and sports marketing and all the other bullshit that they take in college. I think it’s a loser issue for Biden.”
He added, “Democrats have this idea that you’re a better person if you sit in class more and more and get more and more degrees. And really, the answer is to make — is not to make college cheaper, it’s to make it more unnecessary. Because most of it is bullshit anyway and it’s not necessary.”
Maher further stated, “I think a lot of people…they’re resentful that…first of all, I’m going to pay now…for some kid to go to an indoctrination center where they’re indoctrinating kids into things I don’t even believe in, where the courses are all in racist spotting 101.
