Oddjob tried to set up a Bond ladder back in the 60s - didn't work out well for him. Free-market Cap. is still better. And when interest rates continue going up, the bonds drop in value. Worst of both worlds.
Unless the Pres & the Libs eliminate "Free" from everything. Except welfare of course. How come Soc.Security is always on the verge of running out of money, but welfare never is? Why is that? And most-of-us paid into Soc. Security. And the same most-of-us also paid into the welfare fund too.
How many of you got a thank-you note last Thanksgiving, thanking you for paying into the welfare fund? I didn't.

They got fauchied -
As most schools across the country are back to in-person learning, the detrimental effects of school lockdowns during coronavirus are showing themselves in real time: high levels of student depression and developmental and academic stunting.
The foundational skills for learning need to be retaught,” said Georgia middle school counselor Tierney Langdon.
Children appear to have taken the brunt of the suffering from draconian lockdown measures and mask mandates in schools, many of which were unnecessary and ineffectual at stopping the spread of the coronavirus but were devastating to the personal development of America’s children.
Counselors “described many students as frozen, socially and emotionally, at the age they were when the pandemic started,” according to the Times.
“Something that we continuously come back to is that our ninth graders were sixth graders the last time they had a normative, uninterrupted school year,” Chicago high school counselor Jennifer Fine said. “Developmentally, our students have skipped over crucial years of social and emotional development.”

"Gun makers and dealers in California will be required to block firearms sales to anyone they have “reasonable cause to believe is at substantial risk” of using a gun illegally or of harming themselves or others, under a new law that Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Tuesday that he had signed."
Reasonable cause?
The same 'reason' that says men can become pregnant?
What type of 'reason'?
California ass-hat reason or fly-over-country reason?
What about "disparate impact" on the "underserved community"?
Having severed itself from reality, California will reap the fruits of its insanity.
Enjoy!

OK - I'm going to pound on this one.
re the new wonderful law as referenced above.
It just begs for a good flogging. The author is one first class idiot of the highest level of idiocracy.
"California’s law allows gun makers and dealers to also be sued for alleged violations of other laws, including false advertising, unfair competition or deceptive acts or practices."
This part of the new law is for idiots. It changes nothing. They could always be charged for these crimes.
Wait for it...
"The law will also prohibit manufacturers and retailers from making, importing or selling guns or related products that are “abnormally dangerous and likely to create an unreasonable risk of harm.”
What the hell is 'abnormally dangerous'?
Is this like rape vs rape-rape?
Blows yer head off vs blows yer head clean off?
Any judge hewing to the Constitution would throw this whole law out for being clearly vague and arbitrary.
Can anyone find a single soul on earth that thinks this law will reduce violence?

"and now he's supporting him for '24. What a hoot."
I said IF (Paul has a hard time with comprehension of the English language) Trump was the nominee (can't see it even happening) I would vote for him over anything the Dems would run.
Paul completely misses the fact that this is more about how incompetent the Dems are than how much I may or may not support Trump.
Paul doesn't like my 'snide' references to his choices for leaders in America, yet we all notice Paul has given up even trying to defend his choice of Biden in light of the fact that Biden is a perv and corrupt traitor to our nation.
Compare where we were as a nation with Trump vs now with Biden. Paul chose the loser.

BT 6:14 - "Oberlin College facing $4 million in interest..."
Not sure how this is 'good news'.
They were ordered to pay damages and told the judge to F himself.
Why should they care about 4M when they openly refuse to pay the full amount in the first place?
My idea of 'good news' is the judge upon hearing that the college is openly refusing the court order would be for the judge to order all assets of the college seized and sold off to pay the plaintiff. That would be good news.
Posted by: Scott O | 12 July 2022 at 09:32 PM
Oberlin's endowment is around $900M. So they could pay the judgment in no time at all if they so desired. But staying true to progressive policies, they do not build anything beneficial, just tear down what others have built. A bakery, a country - no difference. And then they blame others.
They aren't completely liberal though. Notice that they bought a conservative-style appeal bond, so as to minimize any loss from their own endowment funds.

Well, well, well - we now find out why certain people wanted to rant about how terrible it was that a 10 year old girl had to go to another state to get an abortion all the while being completely silent as to HOW she got preggers.
Turns out it's an illegal who done it. So Biden invites them in and lets them stay and then cries big crocodile tears over the victims.
The numbers of murders, rapes and drunk-driving deaths would drop if we would just keep illegals out of our country.
But we just have to have that cheap labor to exploit.
I could have sworn one of the major purposes of our govt was to protect us.

Well - the story of the 10 year old getting raped has blown up in the Dem's faces.
"“She’s my daughter,” the mom, who refused to give a name, confirmed to Telemundo of the girl who would have been just 9 when she was abused and impregnated.
“She’s fine. Everything that they’re saying against him is a lie,” she insisted of Fuentes, who confessed during police interviews to raping the youngster at least twice, according to court records and officials."
Oh - and the rapist was 'initially' reported as a minor. At 27 yrs old.
And the girl is still with this woman who claims she is her mother?
Dr. Caitlin Bernard listed the rapist as being approximately 17 in her official filing to the Indiana Department of Health, the outlet said.
Having to hop over to the next state to get an abortion is the LEAST problem this poor child has.

I haven’t seen them run with a story since the ‘Trump put children in cages days’. Yep Trump put brown children in Obama cages…separated from mamacitas, and the the front page covers of Time Mag was taken in 2014. And AOC wore white.
What kind of nation are we when a 9-10 year old rape victim has to go to Indiana! First Trump put her in the cage and now the illegally appointed Trump SCOTUS henchmen have want to put her in chains and then after birth, off to reformatory school. The drama. Another day, another day of popping heads all over the place. They should move to Canada….if Canada will let them in.

Good news -
“The District Attorney’s Office has completed its review of the facts surrounding the officer involved shooting that took place on February 4, 2021. The scope of the review was narrow. In the shooting death of Sage Crawford, our office’s role was to review the evidence and determine whether there was criminal liability on the part of any officer. Essentially, to decide if there is proof beyond a reasonable doubt of a crime being committed by an officer. Under the standard of review imposed by our legal and ethical obligations, we have found there is insufficient evidence to prove any crime beyond a reasonable doubt. Therefore, we will not be filing criminal charges and no further action by our office is contemplated or warranted,” said District Attorney Jesse Wilson.

I think there is no doubt that he is going to get reelected to the senate -
I think the West Virginian has in fact pulled the plug and is saying no tax hikes or climate spending, which brings to mind this passage from one of my favorite movies, The Godfather Part II:
"My offer is this: nothing. Not even the fee for the gaming license, which I would appreciate if you would put up personally."
In other words, Manchin's offer is this: nothing. You could look at the calendar, because Chuck Schumer wants the Senate’s August recess to begin Friday, August 5th. You will get the July jobs number that day, but you're not going to get any of the July inflation reports that Manchin is focused on until a week later, when the July CPI comes out on Friday, August 12th and really you won't know the whole July inflation story until the middle of August.
So, I think Senator Manchin's being pretty crafty here. I think Mr. Manchin heard the conversations we've been having on the show with Congressman Kevin Brady, and Steve Moore, and Senator Dan Sullivan and myself—that there is no FICA tax loophole for small passthrough businesses, and that imposing a 3.8% investment tax on their income and limiting their loan loss provisions would have a devastating effect on the economy's most important sector, which is already showing signs of a significant slump.
In other words, I think Senator Manchin heard us and that is to his credit. He listens to reason and facts. It's why I respect him so much and I have to tell you folks, I think one of the reasons the stock market bumped up so much today is feeling of relief that taxes are not going up. Betting on Manchin, the market is joining me in taking the over.
Not only would that mean no 3.8% tax on small business owners, but it would mean no surtaxes on high income earners, no 15% minimum corporate tax rate on book profits, and no higher taxes on U.S. multi-nationals and as Dan Clifton points out in his cult-following newsletter today, Congress can't enact $500 billion of renewable energy tax credits unless they're paid for with direct tax increases. Dan concludes: "no tax increase, no tax credits.'"
Of course, even without tax hikes the GDP tracker from the Atlanta Fed today moved to -1.5% for the second quarter, following the official -1.6% in Q1. So, at a minimum we're on the front end of a recession. Meanwhile manufacturing output fell for the second straight month in June.

2. The entire Squash Mobile cannot exceed 5 inches in width. There are no length restrictions.
3. Squash Mobiles will be raced in separate classes.
There is no senior entries, but Psul can smoke ‘em with his squash in the 18+ category…. like he religiously does at his summer Druid festivals in Oregon and Gray Lodge or in his van down by the river. May the smoke of Punchy Emery’s special squash rise and be accepted by the gods.

Morning fish @ this fine sunny morning.
Thank you kindly, sir. Yes, I read them every week, but sometimes moi no post them here cause….well..some weeks are not up to the standards of this fine blog, owned and operated by some renowned rocket scientist. Like, some weeks are last weeks news. Imagine that. The Wednesday pics and graphs are darn good, appealing to math wizards of both genders.
With that said, I enjoyed a couple of pics, fit for the Sandbox. Ok, three pics. I am such a liar and low life. The goods news, fish, is that we both have that in common…along with disrespect, wire for cynicism, and unlike our professional entertainer who can also sing, we both 1) understand and 2) appreciate satire and irony.
Forward! It is already 82 here at 9:22 am. Probably be warmer at 9:22 pm. Digging ditches with OCD needs more than 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Like 20 minutes on, then wait for nightfall. The built the Great Wall of China one stone at a time.

The transportation secty is completely unaware of the number of diesel and gasoline powered motors in the US. The idea that in 15 or 20 years we will be 'free' of petro use is so absolutely wack it's not even funny. It would be as if in 1820 they declared steam power to be available and so now all animal powered transportation and agricultural use would be banned.
The same people telling us to turn off our A/C are also telling us to buy a vehicle that uses way more juice.
Here's just a small sample idea of how out to lunch the left is re petro use:
https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20200204005053/en/36-Million-Internal-Combustion-Vehicles-U.S.-Roads
This is only cars and light trucks.
Add in all the small stationary motors, tractors, construction equipment, locomotives, aircraft, ships, etc, etc...
We are being led off a cliff by these evil people.
And the lemmings like Paul are stupidly going right along.

These folks aren't pulling these stats out of their behinds.
Someone will be fueling all these motors - it could be our country or we could go under and China will operate the Texas oilfields.
How difficult is this choice?

VANA TRUMP, EX-WIFE OF FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP, DEAD AT 73
“Ivana Trump, the Czech American ex-wife of former President Donald Trump and mother of Ivanka, Eric and Don Jr., was murdered by Donald Trump Thursday. She was 73.
According to sources inside the Trump family circle, former loser The Don pushed his ex-wife down the stairs of her home with a steering wheel. Ivana Trump, according to her closest aids, was reportedly eager to appear before Jan 6 Committee to expose the former President of tax avoidance, fraud, hiding campaign contributions, money laundering in Prague, bank fraud, aiding and abetting giving comfort to the enemy. Trump could be charged with over thirty eight serious felonies. If convicted, the maximum penalty for the felonies combined would be 642 years.
The sources for this interview requested anonymity to speak freely. Trump had reportedly told Ivana that he planned to take over our democracy and appoint himself Grand Emperor for life. One domestic worker heard Donald Trump threaten to kill his ex-wife if she talks to anyone.
Calls to Trump’s legal team went unanswered at the time of this writing…”

A coalition of 20 Republican attorneys general brought a lawsuit last year against the federal government, noting that they stood to lose significant federal funding as the Biden directives were in conflict with their own state laws.
Atchley agreed with that, writing in his order that the states "cannot continue regulating pursuant to their state laws while simultaneously complying with Defendants' guidance."

Vlaardingerbroek said that countries like Canada and the Netherlands are being used as staging grounds for the World Economic Forum (WEF) and other globalist elites to pursue their radical schemes to transform society.
“For some reason, they aren’t coming after the airlines or other industries that actually are contributors to these emissions apart from the Dutch farmers. They are saying that the farmers need to give up 30 per cent of their land by 2030 and for a lot of these farmers that means they will go completely out of business depending on where they are in the country and that land goes to the state, surprise, surprise
The Dutch political commentator said that the attack on the farming industry could have major economic implications, noting that the Netherlands is the second-largest agricultural exporter in the world.
The country is also the largest exporter of meat in Europe and the fifth-largest dairy exporter globally — industries that will be the chief target of the supposedly climate-focused scheme.
The political commentator said that the farmers realise that this is not just coming from the national level, saying that Prime Minister Mark Rutte “is very deeply involved in the World Economic Forum, is a great proponent of all the ideas laid out in the 2030 Agenda and the Great Reset, it’s all related, all these policies are out of those institutions and they are being implemented in our country first, we are sort of the pilot country together with Canada for this agenda.”

SYMPATHY FOR RAY EPPS
In “The new Kremlinology” Matt Taibbi gives a lesson in how to read the New York Times. The text of Taibbi’s column is available only in part to nonsubscribers, but it gives you the idea.
We’ve been reading the Times in the Kremlinological style for quite some time now. This week’s sympathetic Times profile of January 6 agitator Ray Epps by Alan Feuer presents a serious challenge to interpretation. The story ran under the headline “A Trump Backer’s Downfall as the Target of a Jan. 6 Conspiracy Theory.” Subhead: “Ray Epps became the unwitting face of an attempt by pro-Trump forces to promote the baseless idea that the F.B.I. was behind the attack on the Capitol.”

OH MY LOL -
New San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins fired 15 people in her office on Friday, with one in particular prompting an outcry. It comes in the first week after Jenkins was appointed to her role by Mayor London Breed following the recall of Chesa Boudin.
"Today, I made difficult, but important changes to my management team and staff that will help advance my vision to restore a sense of safety in San Francisco by holding serious and repeat offenders accountable
Other notable staffers fired included Kate Chatfield, Boudin's chief of staff; Tal Klement, assistant chief of general crimes; Rachel Marshall, Boudin's communications director and policy advisor; Mikaela Rabinowitz, director of data, analytics and research; and Lateef Gray, managing attorney of the independent investigations bureau, the department that oversees investigations into police officers.
"I came to DA Boudin's office to fight for criminal justice reform; that battle has never felt more urgent," Marshall said in a statement. "There is no question that DA Jenkins' approach differs dramatically from my values. My passion for the mission to reform our legal system is stronger than ever and I am eager for the next opportunity to effect change."
"San Francisco has taken 10 giant steps backwards," she said. "Jenkins was dangled in front of us because she's a Black woman, which was supposed to make us feel better, but the firings are terrifying. I hope this raises the ire of the left, and makes us realize we must fight or we will lose. We always say a shift to the right can’t happen in California, but it is happening right here in San Francisco."
Chatfield also sharply criticized framing from news outlets that Jenkins' first wave of senior staff hires were all women. "We’re seeing Girl Bosses for mass incarceration," she wrote.

A SIGN OF THE TIMES…kinda like Scott Adams.
“Ruy Teixera is the author (with John Judis) of 2002’s The Emerging Democratic Majority. The book foresaw the rise of the multiethnic Democratic coalition that elected Barack Obama in 2008. Both Teixera and Judis are well-known men of the left, but Teixera has resisted the cultural mania that has overtaken the Democratic Party and imposed a stifling orthodoxy.
Now Teixera has not only taken to the free-speech platform provided by Substack at the Liberal Patriot. He has departed the Center for American Progress for the American Enterprise Institute. Politico’s Michael Schaeffer reported his move in “‘A Real Chilling Effect’: A Lefty Scholar is Dumping CAP — For AEI.”
Referring to the internal dynamics at CAP, Teixera comments: “It’s just cloud cuckoo land.” I think that is a widely applicable judgment to the totalizing leftist madness that now stares us in the teeth every day. Teixera had the nerve to say it out loud from inside the asylum.”

"Canadian Master’s degree candidate Emma Palladino took to Twitter earlier this month to point out that transgender individuals “can’t escape” their sex, not because it’s physically impossible to change one’s sex, but because archaeologists who find their bones one day “will assign you the same gender as you had at birth.”"
Yep - how dare they dig up some bones and decide from scientific observation whether you wore a cute bearskin tutu (to die for, literally) or a hyper-stud loincloth dripping with toxic masculinity?
Who are these modern day sex-fascists to decide whether Og loved Grog or Grogette?

More sleaze and slime about Trump. It never ends.
NEW YORK (Reuters) -Two New York state residents were charged with illegally using funds from Chinese and Singaporean investors to donate $600,000 to then-President Donald Trump's re-election campaign in 2017, U.S. prosecutors said on Monday.
The scheme was part of an effort by Sherry Li and Lianbo Wang to showcase political connections as they sought funds to build a China-themed park in upstate New York, prosecutors said, adding that they raised $27 million in investment, but never completed the project.
The scheme was part of an effort by Sherry Li and Lianbo Wang to showcase political connections as they sought funds to build a China-themed park in upstate New York, prosecutors said, adding that they raised $27 million in investment, but never completed the project.
Li called the park "Chinese Disneyland," according to a complaint filed in federal court in Brooklyn.
Prosecutors said Li and Wang made contributions in their own names to a committee hosting a fundraiser for Trump on June 28, 2017, but that the funds came from 12 foreign donors the pair had charged $93,000 each to attend the event with them.
