Breaking news about the thugs who are crying in court after pleading guilty of spraying mace on police officers during the Jan 6 riot.

"Two New York state men who led a mob that overwhelmed police at the perimeter of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 — then bodysurfed over the top of the crowd at a building entrance and pepper-sprayed officers — were both sentenced Friday to 44 months in prison," The Washington Post reported. "Cody Mattice, 29, of Greece, N.Y., and James Mault, 30, of Brockport, N.Y., both wept as they stood before Chief U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell and asked for leniency, apologizing for their actions and saying they hoped to return soon to their families and young children......

Judge Howell said, "they were not patriots on Jan. 6, and no one who broke the police lines and stopped the democratic process was a patriot that day.

"Shortly before the police line was breached, Mault attempted to convince officers to stand down and join with the mob," the DOJ announced. "At approximately 2:30 p.m., Mattice pulled down a segment of the metal barricades that stood in front of a police line. He quickly grabbed it with both hands, pulling it away from officers and onto the ground. A short time later, rioters overwhelmed the police line, forcing officers to retreat up a central staircase to the Lower West Terrace. Mattice and Mault were part of the group that assaulted the police line. They stood at or near the front of the group, pushing forward against the officers, who attempted to keep the rioters from advancing."

Both men maced officers.

As opposed to lefty rioters all summer long tearing down barricades and throwing happy little bottles of warming flame at the officers.

"The FBI has absolutely no business poking around in the private information of those who have obtained a concealed carry permit in Missouri," Schmitt said, according to a press release. "The Second Amendment rights of Missourians will absolutely not be infringed on my watch. I will use the full power of my Office to stop the FBI, which has become relentlessly politicized and has virtually no credibility, from illegally prying around in the personal information of Missouri gun owners."

Schmitt outlined to Wray that under Missouri law it is illegal to share the confidential list with the federal government. The law was passed after "it became known that the Obama Administration wanted to know which Missourians had firearms, supposedly to establish who was entitled to federal benefits."

Paul - "By the way it was Reagan who cut back on facilities for the mentally challenged."
He was responding to court orders that allowed the mentally ill ('challenged' is a BS term) to treat the mental hospitals as come and go hotels with no ability to force the patients to take regular medications. The hospitals were just becoming expensive crash pads for the wackos. So he ordered them closed. They were no longer any good for anyone, other than the operators raking in millions. But lefties love to side with millionaire crooks who mouth the proper platitudes. Paul is a good example.

Don Bessee

You reap what you sow oh great ponytail of ignorance @ 511 LOL

The fact is it was the ACLU and activist psychs that systematically shut down the mental institutions across the country and you are parroting an urban legend -

The records show that the politicians were dogged by the image and financial problems posed by the state hospitals and that the scientific and medical establishment sold Congress and the state legislatures a quick fix for a complicated problem that was bought sight unseen.

'They've Gone Far, Too Far'

In California, for example, the number of patients in state mental hospitals reached a peak of 37,500 in 1959 when Edmund G. Brown was Governor, fell to 22,000 when Ronald Reagan attained that office in 1967, and continued to decline under his administration and that of his successor, Edmund G. Brown Jr. The senior Mr. Brown now expresses regret about the way the policy started and ultimately evolved. ''They've gone far, too far, in letting people out,'' he said in an interview.

Dr. Robert H. Felix, who was then director of the National Institute of Mental Health and a major figure in the shift to community centers, says now on reflection: ''Many of those patients who left the state hospitals never should have done so. We psychiatrists saw too much of the old snake pit, saw too many people who shouldn't have been there and we overreacted. The result is not what we intended, and perhaps we didn't ask the questions that should have been asked when developing a new concept, but psychiatrists are human, too, and we tried our damnedest.''

Dr. John A. Talbott, president of the American Psychiatric Association, said, ''The psychiatrists involved in the policy making at that time certainly oversold community treatment, and our credibility today is probably damaged because of it.'' He said the policies ''were based partly on wishful thinking, partly on the enormousness of the problem and the lack of a silver bullet to resolve it, then as now.''

Paul Emery

So Scott

what is your plan for what to do with the homeless people in California?

Scott O

I love the usual idiot line of "Reagan closed the hospitals".
Yes he did. And we all (except quislings like Paul) notice that in 50 years the Dems have done nothing to re-establish these paragons of mental health virtue. Why not? Apparently they're just as bad as Reagan but somehow the lefty-parrots haven't got the wit to notice.
Instead of admitting he has no idea of what he is talking about, Paul tries to dodge by asking what I would do about the problem.
The point Paul was trying to make was that Reagan is the source of our current problem with the mentally ILL and the dopers who litter our streets and neighborhoods.
Why don't we 'circle back' to that point and settle it first?
Then we can talk about what to do now in the summer of 2022.

Gregory

Punchy 559p

Scott O

I will further add that in high school a very good friend of mine's father was a doctor who transferred in 1969 to Napa at the state run hospital and was very familiar with the whole mess. He was a lefty Dem who hated Reagan but said later he had to admit that Reagan was correct to close the mental hospitals because they had become a racket soaking the tax payers and using many of the patients as sex toys, all the while doing little to no good for the patients as far as treating their mental health problems.
It's a complex problem that requires a far greater reach of intellect than repeating idiot lines of "Reagan closed the hospitals".
Those patients are not the ones out on the streets for decades. Pretty Boy Gavin claimed he would solve the problem in SF. How did that work out?
Total fail.
So we go back 1/2 a century to blame a Republican.
Pathetic.

Montana and Co. made mincemeat out of the Dolphins and Larry had little to say the next week about the game. King was intelligent and quick-witted but also a punk. A viral video shows an officer escorting the New York lawmaker away from the Supreme Court as a nearby woman shouted, “Abortion rights are under attack!” Ocasio-Cortez can be seen walking with her hands behind her back, creating the illusion of being handcuffed.

Why are there virtually no homeless people on the streets of Denmark and Ireland?

A major reason is both countries have psychiatric social workers on the streets much like police who spot people early on who have drug, alcohol or psychiatric problems and they immediately give them help and shelter. They do not let them become chronically homeless like we do here. They also give them shelter and good food and a healthy diet as well as counseling and medical help, They help them before they are too far gone like many of the homeless in our country. They also are given financial assistance and job training. You just don't see homeless encampments in either country.

Scott O

No Paul - that's not the whole story. Just trying to post links doesn't even start to answer pertinent questions.
Why haven't the Dems re-started what Reagan shut down.
Reagan magic too damn bad assed?
Dems.
Unable.
To.
Overcome.
Reagan.
Voodoo.
Reagan was 50 years ago, Paul. Those people in the hospital then are pretty much all dead.
Paul - can you hear me?
Do you read English?
Why haven't the Dems fixed the problem?
They've only had decades.

Paul Emery

I agree with you Scott. The Dems did not rebuild the trashed mental health facilities that were Reagans legacy.

Scott O

Hilarious - Paul 8:03 - "They also give them shelter and good food and a healthy diet as well as counseling and medical help, They help them before they are too far gone like many of the homeless in our country."
So?
Who has run CA for decades?
Dems.
Just do the tofu and salad greens for a few days and we're good to go!
Nevada County is all blue - according to Paul.
So - why the homeless problem?
The Dems have run CA for quite a while and the homeless problem is just getting worse. Gavin said as mayor of SF, he would fix the homeless problem and it got worse.
Why doesn't Paul articulate an explanation instead of posting links?
Why doesn't Paul 'circle back' to his original position that it's all Reagan's fault and defend that position?
All I hear from Paul is "run to the next fall-back position"!

Now.....was that so hard? See if you put forth just a little effort and stop begging for links like some information deficient street person you could go far psul!

I'm proud of you!

Now....if you could tell me why the California Democrat Party....who if memory serves control the assembly, senate and executive can't manage to do what you say Denmark and Ireland are doing but who seem to be able to spend in the neighborhood of 600K for each special homeless apartment* they're constructing I would consider that a real favor.

*hint: progressive democrat graft

Scott O

Paul 8:17 - So - why even mention Reagan?
It would seem the Dems are even more guilty and yet you have yet to name even one.
And you vote for them.
Way to go, bro!
Paul's position is that Reagan is bad, but we should vote for those who know he's bad and refuse to do any better.
You are sick in the head, Paul.

Scott O

Uh oh - Italics alert!

Scott O

Paul - have you actually had to deal one on one with the home less in Nevada County?
I have. On an ongoing basis.
When the Hospitality House was being re-vamped our local evil awful right wing Christian Churches jumped in to house overnight the homeless.
I never saw you there helping to feed and help them.
The help they really needed was so far beyond your simple minded left-wing fantasy-based BS printed by people that have never ever had to actually deal with these folks is so far off from reality it isn't even funny.
A lot of these folks were off from the get go and most were beyond ever being truly viable assets to society. The help they need is complicated and extremely expensive.
Dealing with it by saying "Reagan closed the hospitals" is so insane and out of date it isn't even funny.
Like all the left - Paul doesn't really want to help anyone, he just wants to score cheap points against political people he doesn't like.

Scott O

Thanks fishy!
Papa George doesn't wanna have to stop the car.

Paul Emery

Scott

You still haven't offered one bit of advice as to what we should do today. We recently had a police shooting of a young woman who was having an emotional breakdown and they shot her because she had a knife in her hand. That didn't have to happen and if we had a psychiatric social worker trained to handle that kind of situation it wouldn't have happened. I have offered temporary housing for several Nevada City homeless through the years. Have you done that? Also I was involved with the original incarnation of Hospitality House when Utah Phillips was alive and produced several fundraisers to help get things off the ground.

Scott O

"You still haven't offered one bit of advice as to what we should do today."
Still just dodging and weaving.
Let's go back to Paul's assertion that the problems of today are because of Reagan's "closing down the hospitals".
Paul is continuing to run from his own words.
How is today's problem with the home less based on what Reagan did, Paul?
You are the one that brought it up and until you back it up, we go no further.
Waiting.

Scott O

Typical - "I have offered temporary housing for several Nevada City homeless through the years. Have you done that? Also I was involved with the original incarnation of Hospitality House when Utah Phillips was alive and produced several fundraisers to help get things off the ground."
Ooh, name dropping gets you brownie points, right Paul?
"I have offered." But you don't say what psychotic
folk you have residing regularly with you. I have too.
But only for the ones I could trust and that wasn't many.
"produced several fundraisers to help get things off the ground."
That means you didn't actually have to deal with the filthy beggars.
Good on you, Paul. like most all white lefties you just write a check and wash your hands.
You still haven't backed up your previous statements.
What happened to the "Reagan caused the homeless problem" you previously spewed?
Run, little coward. Run, run, run!

Scott O

Paul - what does your 8:51 have to do with your comments about Reagan?

fish

See Scott....look at that man just push those goalposts....just look at em move!

Up thread it's....."So what solution do you propose Scott?" down here it's "You still haven't offered one bit of advice as to what we should do today".

Of course there's this.....

Trying to inject the Crawford shooting is just as I would expect.....low rent!

Gregory

punchy 851p

" We recently had a police shooting of a young woman who was having an emotional breakdown and they shot her because she had a knife in her hand."

No punch, she was shot because she was chasing down a Deputy with a knife in her hand ready to strike. A screaming banshee.

Scott O

Just a simple knife. No one has ever hurt a soul with a knife. If only Paul had been there to tell a tale about how bad Reagan was to not fund the crooked bastards running the insane asylums 50 years ago, there would have been no problemo.

Don Bessee

The ponytail of ignorance is virtue signaling to the idiots who drama up the web and hate cops just look at the idiots commenting on that issue locally. Especially the ones who fantasize about the cop going jackie chan on her ass when the reality is that a thin blade knife will absolutely penetrate a vest.

What about her friends and family and the aclu who would sue to keep her out of treatment where were they?

She was dragging two kids down the middle of alta sierra drive while the school buses were dropping off kids and traffic was very heavy endangering the kids whos interest is the prime issue. You cannot even think for yourself and have not had an utterance in years that is not a talking point for lefties as we see on cnn, msnbc ad nauseum.

Look at the video you cop hater. They tried to get cooperation and tried to deescalate and tried a taser then she chased a deputy and his partner protected as he should.

We have to consider who you are and its more likely you had a need for another pair of hands to tape over the extension cords and let them crash after the after party.

Shame on you!

;-)

Scott O

Gregory - the narrative, dude, the narrative!
Paul would have been happy to take the knife in the chest if only they would have asked! He did a music show, fer God's sake!
Anyway, Paul says it's all Reagan's fault for closing down the mental hospitals that Paul openly admits the Dems in charge haven't done anything about since but Paul can't think of one single Dem to name for this since it's all Reagan's fault.
Did I mention Reagan enough?
Anyway - Reagan and Reagan and Reagan.
Does that make everything all groovy?

Scott O

Don 9:35 - Dude - it's all Reagan's fault according to Paul Emery.
And since you haven't come up with the perfect solution you are to blame as well.
The woman with the knife was just acting out of frustration with recent political events.

Scott O

What happened to Paul's 4:08 ?
Dude - he had the Salon link.
Since then - ?
Paul was in the guard?
Shit - the dude can't can't even defend his own position.
"Well - Reagan"...
My neighbor's wife could beat his ass with a broom.
Hell - we have ground dwelling animals that would chew his weenie off.

Scott O

OK - I'm getting tired of trying to get Paul to defend his position.
Here's another great lefty BS story
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/doctor-provided-abortion-10-year-old-rape-victim-moves-sue-indiana-att-rcna38968
Read the story and keep in mind that the authors know that the girl's rapist is a 27 year old illegal and the girl's mother is trying to cover for the rapist (her boyfriend). And the baby killer doctor claimed that she actually didn't know how old the father (rapist) was but she speculated (based on what?) that he was 17.
Now she is suing.
Yeah, the best defense is a good offense.
Man - you Dems rule!
