Thanks for the spelling correction Gregory,

You write: An "immaculation" is a Limbaugh term dating from Jan '09

I don't subscribe to the Limbaugh dictionary. "Immaculation" is not a real word, I was not a follower of Limbaugh like you were. Can you use real English and rephrase that statement and request of me?

Gregory

Trump, if he wins in Nov '24, will be "immaculated" in Jan '25, but you knew that already, Punch.

No, not a Trumper and never a Limbaugh "follower". I did listen on occasion.

Scott O

Yeah Gregory - none of that Lewis Carroll or Johnathan Swift stuff. You must do exactly as Punchy demands or he will pout and not answer.
As if he will ever answer anyway.

Paul Emery

You must have been a Limbaugh follower Gregory because that's pretty obscure. You could have said Trump will take office Jan '25 and we wouldn't have wasted all this time.

There are Republicans I could support but not Trump. Besides he's not a Republican or a Conservative anyway. I thought you were referring to some kind of reckoning or moral cleansing which would have been more consistent with the original meaning of the word, which I already posted.

I'm not worried about though. Neither Trump or Biden will be President in '25. I sure am hoping Trumps runs though. He'll either split the Party or lead to it's demise. He is the biggest loser in modern history and I don't see that changing.

OK - what the hell is his problem? He can't even read off of a teleprompter?
Are you saying he is lying all the time and it's not his senility?

Paul Emery

He has always had a stuttering problem and that's what you're seeing. He does pretty good with it actually.

Somehow you refuse to acknowledge Trumps lying so that disqualifies you from judging Biden. Remember his "promise to have Mexico build the wall for example?

Scott O

Paul - "...he'll still have the same ignorance and narcissistic personality disorder."
Yeah - it was awful back then when there was no war in the Ukraine, no inflation to speak of, highest rate of unemployment of non-whites, America was energy independent, the economy was booming, Europe was getting their best advice in decades, fuel prices were way lower...
Shall I go on?
Oh wait - non-whites doing better than ever - yeah, that would be a problem for Paul.
Well - now you have the POTUS you bragged you could hardly wait to vote for.
He called a black govt official "my boy" and told blacks if they didn't vote for him they weren't black.
I can see why Paul salivated at the chance to vote for an old white racist like that.

Paul has now crossed the Rubicon.
You can't walk it back, Paul - you are now an official quisling of Biden.
A toadying little fool bound to your folly.
Paul - "Somehow you refuse to acknowledge Trumps lying so that disqualifies you from judging Biden."
Now you are openly lying, Paul.

Remember when Trump took over from Obama and we had a steady and growing economy? That was before Trump trashed it and left the wreckage for Biden. Biden also had to pick up the mess Trump left in Afghanistan which Trump PROMISED he would pull out of four years earlier.. Didn't Trump promise he was going to pull us out? Another broken promise. And oh yeah exactly what would Trump have done to prevent his buddy Putin from invading Ukraine? He's never even attempted to explain that.

He says if Pence would have overturned the election these things would have happened and hese are direct quotes from your guy Trump:

"We would have no inflation, inexpensive gasoline, be energy dominant, have no war or largescale death with Russia and Ukraine (this conflict never would have happened), would have left Afghanistan on same timetable, but with dignity and strength," Trump said. "And would have kept Bagram Air Base, not had dead soldiers, taken out all American hostages, and would not have given the Taliban $85 billion worth of first-class military equipment."

'We have an open mind': Flustered Fauci claims he is now open to COVID lab leak theory after emails revealed he dismissed the idea as a 'shiny object that will go away'

Fox News anchor Bret Baier grilled Dr. Anthony Fauci about his dismissals of the theory that COVID-19 was created in a lab in Wuhan and about his ties to that lab

Fauci laughed at the idea and said he has always kept an 'open mind' about the virus' origin despite his past insistences that COVID-19 was a natural occurrence

Baier was skeptical of Fauci's 'open mind' given that he appeared to ignore a 2020 email warning him that COVID may have been engineered in a lab

He also grilled Fauci about an April 2020 email where he dismissed the lab leak claim as a 'shiny object that will go away'

Use "less" when referring to a quantity that is counted as in "fewer typos" and "fewer words."

Use "fewer" when referring to a quantity that is measured as in "less energy."

Proof is in the pudding Scott

In April 2020, the U.S. economy lost an astonishing 20.5 million jobs and the unemployment rate rose to 14.7%.18 That's after losing 881,000 jobs in March. U.S. retail sales plummeted by 12.66% in April 2020 from the month before (without adjusting for seasonal factors).19

Obama faced the 2008-2009 recession. He used expansionary fiscal policy to combat it. He signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.20 This act created jobs in education and infrastructure, ending the recession in the third quarter of 2009.21

Biden has openly sold out our country to our enemies for cash to his family. He has encouraged an ongoing invasion of our border. He has falsly accused border agents of crimes and never apologized.
I haven't heard you or anyone else suggest what Trump could have done that would have prevented or stopped the riot that he hadn't already done.
He offered Nancy fed help and she refused. It was her command at the capitol building. Why didn't she do something?
The whole thing looks like a bunch of Monday Morning Quarterbacks with the assistance of hindsight and vastly more info than what Trump had to tell us that he could have stopped the mess.
Until there is a proper investigation with all pertinent witnesses called and all sides heard from, I would say that Trump just decided that no matter what he did, the haters were just gonna hate.

Add Murdocks Wall Street Journal to the list of Conservative publications that have flipped on Trump:

Under the headline, "The President Who Stood Still on Jan. 6," The Wall Street Journal editorial board harshly criticized the former president.

"No matter your views of the Jan. 6 special committee, the facts it is laying out in hearings are sobering. The most horrifying to date came Thursday in a hearing on President Trump’s conduct as the riot raged and he sat watching TV, posting inflammatory tweets and refusing to send help," the editorial board wrote.

"The committee’s critics are right that it lacks political balance," the newspaper wrote. "Still, the brute facts remain: Mr. Trump took an oath to defend the Constitution, and he had a duty as Commander in Chief to protect the Capitol from a mob attacking it in his name. He refused. He didn’t call the military to send help. He didn’t call Mr. Pence to check on the safety of his loyal VP. Instead he fed the mob’s anger and let the riot play out."

Are you saying Trump was helpless to do anything on the day of the riot where he did nothing but watch TV for three hours? He is the top law enforcement officer in the country. Not one call for help from him while our elected officials ran for their lives from a self described lynch mob who looted the capitol. Did you actually read either or both of the editorials I provided?

From the Wall Street Journal

“Mr. Trump took an oath to defend the Constitution, and he had a duty as Commander in Chief to protect the Capitol from a mob attacking it in his name. He refused. He didn’t call the military to send help. He didn’t call [then-Vice President Mike Pence] to check on the safety of his loyal VP. Instead he fed the mob’s anger and let the riot play out,” the editorial board wrote.

Scott O

Oh, so Trump should have sent in the military?
As I remember - people exactly like Paul hated Trump when he actually did call for military action against civilians.
Trump offered military help to Nancy and she could have made the same call but she didn't. So, Nancy's inaction is good but Trump's inaction is bad.
As I said, Paul - until I see an actual impartial sorting out of all the facts I see nothing to make an opinion on of what Trump should have or could have done that would have actually prevented or ended the riots.
The clown show run by the Dems has had the desired effect of hiding what the Dems did and throwing shade on Trump. They had decided before the hearings even started that Trump would be shown in a bad light. When only the prosecutor is allowed to present arguments they can make Santa Clause look bad.

There are undeniable facts based on sworn testimony that that he did nothing but watch TV while the Capitol was attacked by his supporters and that he encouraged to go to the Capitol and fight to reverse the election. How can you dispute that?

Trump quotes Jan 6:

“And we fight. We fight like hell And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”
“All of us here today do not want to see our election victory stolen by emboldened radical-left Democrats, which is what they’re doing … We will never give up, we will never concede. It doesn’t happen. You don’t concede when there’s theft involved.”

Trump is such a nut case. This what he said about his rant on Jan 6:

“I have nothing to hide,” Trump told Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Friday night. “I wasn’t involved in that and if you look at my words and what I said in the speech, they were extremely calming, actually.”

Of course, the fiddle and the violin are the very same instrument, the difference is in what is being played and by who.

The main difference between violins, violas, cellos and bass viols are the expected burning times in a fire.

It still hurts, huh?

So George are you saying that if Trump is witness to crimes being committed and nothing is being done about he should do nothing if it is not in his jurisdiction? The list of staff, family and associates that BEGGED Trump to do something is huge. Are you aware of that? Here are some examples, more to follow:

Former White House counsel Pat Cipollone was asked question after question in the recorded testimony about Trump's actions: did he call the secretary of defense? The attorney general? The head of Homeland Security? Cipollone answered "no" to each query.

"He's got to condemn this shit ASAP," Trump's eldest son, Don Jr., appealed in a text message to Trump's chief of staff, Mark Meadows. "They will try to fuck his entire legacy on this if it gets worse."

Witnesses in the room were Matthew Pottinger, a deputy national security adviser under Trump, and Sarah Matthews, a deputy press secretary in his White House. Both resigned in the hours following the riot.

"If the president had wanted to make a statement and address the American people, he could have been on camera almost immediately," Matthews testified. "If he had wanted to make an address from the Oval Office, we could have assembled the White House press corps within minutes.

"Trump was pouring gasoline on the fire," Matthews said.

Asked for his assessment of the riot, Cipollone said in the testimony shown on Thursday that it could not be justified in any way. "It was wrong and it was tragic and it was a terrible day for this country."

Paul - I give you credit for being (I think) older than I and having the stamina to move goal posts at such a clip.
As I recall these hearings would certainly result in the uncovering of heinous crimes and find Trump whisked to the dungeon in irons posthaste.
Yet here we find you now condemning him on the basis of all manner of breaking social etiquette, getting the thumbs down from newspaper boards and the exasperation of family. Nancy must hie herself to the chambers with her staff and write new laws to keep up with your scornful disapproval of the man.
And the gymnastics you perform!
Why - despite your decrepitude, you are as agile as a young gal on the parallel bars twisting this way and that with your ever-new brand of morals and methods of governance.
Why, laws are being broken! And yet Trump has yet to float to the tumultuous throng and wave his arms majestically and like the magi in the Sorcerer's Apprentice point this way and that and cause the riotous gathering to calm as an ebbing storm ceases to cause waves to crash against the shore.

Scott

Can you tell me why Trump didn't do everything possible to thwart the invasion of the Capitol once he saw it happening? Can you tell me who he notified and when that something had to be done and things were out of control.

George Rebane

Paul, you have had a severe case of TDS ever since the summer of 2016. You know there are no rabid Trump supporters here on RR. And you have been told countless times what are the nuanced opinions and attitudes about Trump. And yet you continue some kind of uproductive third degree interrogation here that is shedding no light on any Trump issue you raise, but which do shed a lot of light on your own mentality. Why are you doing this?

fish

I really can’t believe that you all are attempting to engage psul in anything other than blatant mockery. To be made sport of is his raison d'être.

Anything else is simply a waste of everyone’s time.

Scott O

fish - I point you to my 3:38.

Scott O

Paul - "Can you tell me why Trump didn't do everything possible to thwart the invasion of the Capitol..."
EVERYTHING?
Ya mean like F-15s and nukes?

Actually I can't - but since you can read minds, Paul - why don't you tell us?
And maybe Paul can tell us why Biden and Co are encouraging and abetting the border invasion?
Could have sworn Paul muttered something about the POTUS s'posed to uphold the law or sumpin.
But of course - that was then and this is now.
Every new day brings a fresh set of morals for our little Pauly.

Paul Emery

Primarily because there are people who read this blog who deserve to hear all sides of the story. You say there are " no rabid Trump supporters here on RR" yet not one of the regulars here can even even agree that Trump did not do everything he could to stop the violence on Jan 6. Why do you think that is? By the way do you believe that Trump did everything he could to stop the violence on Jan 6?

Scott O

Paul - "...who deserve to hear all sides of the story."
Hilarious - ya mean like the Kangaroo Kourt you salivated all over?
"You say there are " no rabid Trump supporters here on RR" yet not one of the regulars here can even even agree that Trump did not do everything he could to stop the violence on Jan 6."

That statement is not logical, Paul.
On more than one level.
Please try to at least be logical.
And factual.

Paul Emery

Let me reword my question Scott to include Scott, exactly what did Trump do to stop the violence on Jan 6?

Michael Kesti

Paul Emery | 24 July 2022 at 04:31 PM

Your statement assumes that we haven't heard all sides of the story but you're very much about assuming facts that are not in evidence.

I will grant that there may have been more that Trump could have done to stop the violence on Jan 6. Why not? Monday morning quarterbacking is SO much fun.

Will you grant that Trump did not intend and was not the cause of that violence? Why not?

Scott O

George 4:03 - "And yet you continue some kind of uproductive third degree interrogation here that is shedding no light on any Trump issue you raise, but which do shed a lot of light on your own mentality. Why are you doing this?"

Because, George - he wants us to hear from the side of the folks that are guided by hatred.
It does have a purpose of sorts. Without Paul's input, I wouldn't have a clue as to what the cranial process is of the people I read about and see on the news in our country. It is truly the national cutting off of the nasal projection to spite the face of our country.

Scott O

Paul 4:43 - He told them plainly to "go in peace".
Maybe you have the secret signal where he told them to kill the police?
No - you don't.
As soon as there is a truly bi-partisan and fair hearing of ALL witnesses and a chance for ALL sides to be heard and questioned, I (and you, Paul) have no friggin clue what all actually transpired before and after the riots.
You lash out in ignorance and hate - I hold my counsel until I have ascertained all the relevant facts.
Enjoy your hatred and spite, Paul - it eats your body and soul like nothing else.

Paul Emery

Michael

I cannot grant that at this time. Trump was desperate because Pence would not do his bidding and never tried the stop the mob even when they were chanting Hang Pence. He never once has assumed any responsibility for what happened and the deaths that occurred. How could he be so lame as to believe that when he said 'Fight Like Hell' that some members of the mob would resort to violence. Perhaps if he were to do that I could change my mind but nothing so far. How is that different than yelling FIRE in a movie theater?

Paul Emery

How could he be so lame as to not believe...

Don Bessee

He is so cute when he stomps his little feet and holds his breath WHY! WHY! WHY!

;-)

Paul Emery

Don is talking about Trump but he should have said "slaps his little hands".

fish

Gentlemen…..it is exactly as I said….COMPLETE…WASTE….OF….TIME.

Paul Emery | 24 July 2022 at 04:59 PM

Nobody can be held responsible for what others chant.

"Fight like hell" is a commonly used phrase, just as, "I'm going to kill that guy.", which are not typically intended to be taken literally. I am certain that there are many examples of politicians of all stripes who have used the former. Except in the court of TDS opinion, this not indictable.

Scott O

Paul 5:12 - Oh great - now Paul is making fun of a person based on his birth defects.
Are you proud, Paul? Is this what your hatred and bile lead you to?
Do you also call out Dems who tell their supporters to fight?
As I said - Paul awakens to each new day with a new set of morals to fit his bias and hate.
