[As RR has argued for some years now, we Americans are competing with our enemies to see who will be the first to destroy the historical United States of America. So far, we are winning. Thomas Sowell echoes this with his 3aug22 ‘The Point of No Return’ that opens with, “This is an election year. But the issues this year are not about Democrats and Republicans. The big issue is whether this nation has degenerated to a point of no return -- a point where we risk destroying ourselves, before our enemies can destroy us.” gjr]
Mr Tozer has been quick to admonish RR readers not say 'gay' any more. I'm sure it has something to do with newly discovered micro-aggressions against homosexuals. Given that turn of events, does that now give us the concomitant permission to use 'gay' in its formerly allowed manner, such as 'Don we now our gay apparel ...'?
Posted by: George Rebane | 03 August 2022 at 10:06 AM
Fantastic opening to the new Sandbox. Thomas Sowell’s The Point of No Return kicks it off nicely.
Don’t say Gay? No, I am just using the Libs own words against them. Playing Devil’s Advocate. The FL bill barring teaching k-3 graders about sexuality (not age appropriate, beyond the child’s understanding) became bastardized by the Lefty talking points to mean the FL bill is the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill. Figured with the Lefties bending over backwards and frontwards to eliminate the Monkey Pox’s victims, ‘Don’t Say Gay’ fits nicely. It pisses the Left off big time when you use their own words. Just holding up a mirror, Dr. Rebane.
I once got Don Rogers a bit perked when I said silence is violence in a response to Ms. Cooke. :). PS: I have not problem at all with gay men. They are cisgender like me!
Actually, if one looks are the FL education bill, the ones who are overwhelmingly affected more than any other group is heterosexuals. Heterosexuals cannot teach about a man and a women being sexually attracted to each other either. Thus, the name of the FL bill should be more accurately characterized as Don’t Say Straight.
Don’t Say Hay. It’s Hey.

Dr. Rebane @ 10:06 am
In perhaps Tennessee William’s best play ‘The Glass Menagerie’, a line that stuck with for decades is found in Scene 6:
Laura: Mother, what are you doing?
Amanda: They call them “Gay Deceivers”!
Laura: I won’t wear them!
Amanda: You will!
Laura: Why should I?
Amanda: Because, to be painfully honest, your chest is flat
Laura: You make it seem like we were setting a trap
Amanda: All pretty girls are a trap, a pretty trap, and men expect them to be”
Don we now our Gay deceivers. We called gay deceivers ‘falsies’ back in my youth and we were not talking about eyelashes.
Cue the Puritan fainting couch.

BillT 1036am - That's complex stuff Mr Tozer. For the likes of me, I had to take off one shoe to sort out all the possibilities. And I still don't think I got it right. We are fortunate to have you monitor all the 'how to's' and 'why for's', and keep us on the straight and narrow. For example, I still don't know what 'cisgender' means.
Posted by: George Rebane | 03 August 2022 at 11:17 AM
cisgender means you identify with the biological sex you were born with. If born with a stem on the apple, you identify as a male. If born without a stem on the apple, you identify as a female. Cisgender. Not very fluid. Gay men identify as men, lesbians and straight females identify as females. Rather binary and uncomplicated to us unwoke dinosaurs.

You are so dramatic. The truth is that we have a very mushy middle of the road President right now and that's why his approval ratings are so low. Much of it is from the more extreme left that wants more than Biden is willing to give. The abortion issue will be huge in the fall elections as demonstrated in the Kansas vote. Also the Dems scored big every time a Trumper won the primary in their state making them easy pickins. Let the games begin
Posted by: Paul Emery | 03 August 2022 at 11:36 AM
If Punchy is correct, the country would be well served by Biden lurching to the left where the Pauls want him to be.
Roe/Casey left the door open to abortion on demand no matter the age of the infant-to-be. Even the newly born. What a shame the hard left fough tooth and nail for no limits.
Still no debate as to male reproductive rights.
And... The Union commenting is turned off. 'bout time. If they couldn't be even handed, they shouldn't bother.

Paul 11:36 - "The abortion issue will be huge in the fall elections as demonstrated in the Kansas vote."
Yep - Huuuuuge!
Look at all the Dems in Kansas that won the Dem primaries!
It was a clean sweep! Right across the board! Every Dem primary slot won by a Dem!
Now - maybe Paul can explain what "women's rights" are.
He insists they exist but he just can't bring himself to let us in on what they are. Perhaps Paul doesn't even know himself. Um - Paul? Didn't yo momma teach you not to use words you don't understand? Anyway - Paul's pretty busy out looking for a bulk purchase of popcorn so's to be ready for the Dem sweep in the general elections coming up. According to Paul, the Trump voters will switch to Dem en mass so they can vote for abortions right up to the time they can see the whites of the baby's eyes. Should be thrilling.

Dr. Rebane…clarifications.
‘Don’t Say Gay’ when referring to the Monkey Pox worldwide pandemic….er…epidemic. We had our chance to contain the Pox in Africa and to Africa, but Biden blew it. How many people will suffer needlessly knowing that the Government possesses the vaccine, but failed to deliver it to those who caught the Pox? Operation Warp Speed this is not. I blame Biden for fiddling around while the Castro neighborhood burns. Dereliction of Duty for sure.

Punch E Emery was not a newsman. His title was News Director. Whether Psul Emery got the boot or left voluntarily so that some sorely needed new fresh faces could take the slot, Punch stills plays the newsman. Even to this hour, Punchy approaches everyone with his microphone in hand. He does not do discussions, he does interviews. Being the terminal interviewer is a safe spot to be. He asks the questions and is exempt from being asked questions...er....exempt from answering questions. He questikns the interviewee, those with his microphone shoved in their faces are not to question him. Thats they way the media works. Ever see a victim of a house fire or shooting on the news asking the camera questions? Nope. Ok, rarely and the interviewer usually is so caught off guard they choke on their own microphone. Or, evade the question and pretend they did not hear a question directed at them. Thats not how the game is played! violation of rules! He asks, you respond. A one way street. old habits are hard to break, being a paid newsman or not.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said in late July that “Democrats inherited an economy that was primed for an historic comeback, and promptly ran it straight into the ground.” Out of 1,000 likely voters surveyed between July 28-31, 59 percent say they agree with McConnell’s statement and 35 percent disagree. The margin of sampling error is ± 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
Most likely voters (62 percent) think the United States economy is in a recession, even as the White House and its Big Tech allies attempt to redefine the term. Less than a quarter (23 percent) believe the United States economy is not in a recession, and 15 percent are unsure.

Illegal cannabis farms raking in billions for cartels are being destroyed in California
“Investigators in Southern California have discovered the operators are cartels from Mexico, Armenia, and China. Similar cartels have sprung up in the state’s Central Valley farming community, primarily from China and Russia.”…
Investigators often encounter Carbofuran, an illegal pesticide that is one of the deadliest in the world. The United States outlawed the poison in 2009 after minute amounts were found to kill wildlife such as bald eagles, bears, and owls instantaneously.
“We know what to look for, and often, we find Carbofuran,” Fuchs said. “If we do, we just back out and bulldoze.”
“It’s water theft, contamination of groundwater, poisoning of wildlife, illegal chemicals, they leave trash around, squat on property that doesn’t belong to them, and intimidate the neighbors,” said Charles Bostwick, field deputy for Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger.
“They use workers who are indentured servants that came across the border and would be told they’d be working in Central California on a farm and instead end up in the desert on a marijuana grove,” he added.
Bostwick has become a protector of water rights in his district, which is a desert area more than 65 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. The farms have depleted aquifers and drained neighborhood wells, leaving rationed residents with even less water.
“My boss arranged for money to fight water theft because the first bad results of the groves in 2020 were stealing water out of hydrants,” Bostwick said. “Now that there is a drought and your average homeowner is being told to restrict how much they can water their lawns, people are really irritated.”

‘Delaware’s Plan To Allow Widespread Unsupervised Voting Violates Its Constitution, Lawsuit Says’
A Pennsylvania case outcome shows how far activist justices will go to reach a desired result, even in conflict with the constitution.
“The outcome of the Pennsylvania case shows how far activist justices were willing to go to reach a desired result, even when it conflicted with the plain language of their state constitution. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision also reveals the lack of concern the Democrat justices place on election integrity because at the time the constitutional provisions were adopted by the people in Pennsylvania, citizens recognized that absentee voting would “break down all the safeguards of honest suffrage.”
If Pennsylvania and public sentiments prove prescient, the Delaware Democrat justices will care no more about election integrity than their fellow Democrats.”

‘The Dismantlers’
San Diego public schools want to overthrow “heteronormativity” and promote “genderqueer,” “non-binary,” “pansexual,” and “two-spirit” identities.
“According to the district, the gender binary has created an unjust society that distributes “heterosexual and cisgender privilege,” the sexual analog to the concept of “white privilege.” In the presentation, administrators explain that “a heterosexual/cisgender person automatically receives” this privilege, which “benefits members of dominant groups at the expense of members of target groups” and “results in institutional power” for straight men and women. Furthermore, the district claims, this sexual privilege is connected to a broader range of privileges and oppressions via the theory of intersectionality. “Racism, classism, heterosexism, etc. do not exist independently,” the presentation reads. “Multiple forms of discrimination interrelate creating a system of oppression.”

“A parents advocacy group is suing an Iowa school district for allegedly hiding children’s gender transitions from parents.
Parents Defending Education is suing the Linn-Mar Community School District near Cedar Rapids over so-called “gender support plans,” which the group says were concealed from parents.
“Nearly a century of Supreme Court precedent makes two things clear: parents have a constitutional liberty interest in the care, custody, and control of their children, and students do not abandon their First Amendment rights at the schoolhouse gate,” states the lawsuit, which was filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa.
The Linn-Mar district is “flouting both of these constitutional guarantees,” the lawsuit claims, by allowing children to make “fundamentally important decisions concerning their gender identity without any parental involvement and to then hide these decisions from their parents.”

FBI lists Ashli Babbitt, Second Amendment and 'Betsy Ross Flag' to terror symbols guide: report
The guide, provided by an FBI whistleblower to the investigative media organization Project Veritas, says the symbols are "used by Anti-Government or Anti-Authority Violent Extremists."
Symbols listed on the guide also include the "Punisher skull" the Spartan helmet and "2A." The guide says militant violent extremists, also known as MVEs, "justify their existence with the Second Amendment, due to the mention of a 'well regulated Militia' as well as the right to bear arms."
Historical imagery listed on the guide also includes the Gadsden flag, which contains a snake and the phrase "Don't tread on me," the Liberty Tree and other general "Revolutionary War Imagery."
The FBI says MVEs consider people such as Ashli Babbitt, who was killed by a U.S. Capitol police officer during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, and Vicki Weaver, who was killed during the Ruby Ridge standoff, to be martyrs.

No wonder the lame stream media is the most untrusted name in news.
‘Media credits Biden for al Qaeda leader's death after attacking Trump for similar counterterror ops’
Recent strike ordered by Biden targeting al Qaeda chief receives praise, while Trump strikes deemed illegal, destabilizing.
“Tapper also falsely claimed Trump didn't thank his top intelligence officials and said the president was "bending over backward to thank [Russian President Vladimir] Putin for allowing the U.S. to use its airspace for the operation."
Several other journalists noted that Trump thanked Russia, in an apparent nod to the now-debunked allegations that Trump's campaign colluded with the Russian government to win the 2016 presidential election.
Media outlets such as CNN and MSNBC also criticized Trump's remarks on the raid, in which he said al Baghdadi died "like a dog" and was a "sick and depraved man," as being "shocking" and "un-American." MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said Trump "sounded like Saddam Hussein after torturing people."
The nation's most prominent media outlets responded similarly with their coverage in January 2020, when Trump ordered an operation that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani. Many experts believe Soleimani was the second most powerful Iranian official behind Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Soleimani was sanctioned by the U.S. for his role heading the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. In that role, he was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of U.S. soldiers in Iraq, according to the Pentagon. The U.S. government has designated both the Quds Force and the entire IRGC as terrorist organizations.
Shortly after Soleimani's death, mainstream media outlets such as NBC and NPR questioned whether the U.S. strike was legal, portraying Trump's decision as an act of belligerence. CNN's John Berman referred to "the murder, the assassination of General Soleimani," adding it occurred as Trump was facing impeachment proceedings.
Many media outlets speculated that Trump may have timed the military strike to distract from his expected impeachment trial.
It appears no journalists at these same outlets have suggested Biden's strike on Zawahiri was meant to distract from his historically low approval rating just three months before the midterm elections……”

Here is the text of the Kansas Constitutional Amendment. You figure it out, it’s too confusing for me. Sounds contradictory. It is and purposely written that way with input from a Kansas pro-death political to muddle the waters. The text was the collaboration of both sides as the pro-life writers turned to a pro-death politician to help craft the bill. Big rookie mistake. Here’s Johnnie….
Kansas No State Constitutional Right to Abortion and Legislative Power to Regulate Abortion Amendment (August 2022)
Location: Kansas
Ballot year: 2022
Ballot text: Shall the following be adopted? § 22. Regulation of abortion. Because Kansans value both women and children, the constitution of the state of Kansas does not require government funding of abortion and does not create or secure a right to abortion. To the extent permitted by the constitution of the United States, the people, through their elected state representatives and state senators, may pass laws regarding abortion, including, but not limited to, laws that account for circumstances of pregnancy resulting from rape or incest, or circumstances of necessity to save the life of the mother.
[ ] Yes [ ]No
The Value Them Both Amendment would affirm there is no Kansas constitutional right to abortion or to require the government funding of abortion, and would reserve to the people of Kansas, through their elected state legislators, the right to pass laws to regulate abortion, including, but not limited to, in circumstances of pregnancy resulting from rape or incest, or when necessary to save the life of the mother.
A vote for the Value Them Both Amendment would affirm there is no Kansas constitutional right to abortion or to require the government funding of abortion, and would reserve to the people of Kansas, through their elected state legislators, the right to pass laws to regulate abortion.
A vote against the Value Them Both Amendment would make no changes to the constitution of the state of Kansas, and could restrict the people, through their elected state legislators, from regulating abortion by leaving in place the recently recognized right to abortion.

Scott O. Here is what the voters of Kansas looked at on the ballot without my commentary. Maybe Dr. Rebane can tell me what it says. Maybe Punchy. Maybe Gregory.

Update: The Don’t Say Gay Monkey Pox
MONKEYPOX
Deputy Public Health Officer Dr. Glennah Trochet said the recent worry surrounding monkeypox is warranted, but added there have been no known cases in Nevada County.
Trochet said Wednesday there were 3,591 cases nationwide, with California having 646 of them. Twenty-nine cases have been detected in Sacramento and, according to a statement released by Placer County Public Health, one there as well.
Trochet said monkeypox is in the same family as smallpox. Those infected will likely experience flu-like symptoms, then develop a rash or small spots that can be very painful. Additionally, it can be passed through objects that may be contaminated.
The Placer County statement advised that there are a number of ways to help prevent the spread of monkeypox, including talking to sexual partners about their recent activity and overall health, avoiding close contact with those who have sores or rashes, and practicing good hygiene.
Trochet said: “If you have been exposed, the best (thing) is to notify your doctor.”

Thanks Bill - it's about what I thought when I had looked into it. Needless to say, the no votes were often because of some heavy scare advertising with a boat-load of out of state money.
The voters just went with status quo.

From Instapundit....
I wonder if the "Usual Suspects" from the Roberta Cross Brigade ever get upset at this sort of "profit"!
Posted by: fish | 04 August 2022 at 09:33 AM
Damage control alert-from USA Today article, dispelling idea that monkeypox is an STD. They use STI, which is exactly the same as STD.
"Sexually transmitted infections are nothing new. But has a new one surfaced? Not exactly.
....
That's why experts say it's a problem to call monkeypox an STI. Not only because it's inaccurate and misinformation could worsen the spread, but because it can perpetuate stigma against marginalized communities.
And while the majority of cases reported have been with men who have sex with men, ANYONE can get monkeypox." (Note- the chance of anyone, not gay, getting monkeypox now is slightly below 1%).
Which marginalized community do they mean - heterosexuals, who were afforded the opportunity to receive AIDS in the early 1980s, and now have a similar opportunity with monkeypox? Is our govt stepping up to protect that marginalized heterosexual community? Not likely. The govt makes its own priorities, some more important than others.

Today, media.sacbee.com is slower than molasses in January... two different platforms show my browser waiting for it to respond before displaying your blog.
If it can be removed from your blog without a severe degradation, you might consider it. It's not the first time.

I'm having a similar problem. Taking 30 seconds to display website or comments.
I've rebooted my laptop (wi-fi connected) & PC (ethernet) nothing helps on my end.

Having the same issue today. Job growth is huge. From Breitbart no less
"The U.S. economy added 528,000 jobs in July and the unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent, the Department of Labor said Friday.
The U.S. economy added 528,000 jobs in July and the unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent, the Department of Labor said Friday.
Economists had expected the economy to add 258,000 jobs and the unemployment rate to hold steady at 3.6 percent. The range of forecasts by economists surveyed by Econoday was between a gain of 2200,000 to 300,000.
The prior month’s already very high jobs figure of 372,000 was revised up to 398,000. The jobs market has now fully recovered from the pandemic job losses, with both the unemployment rate and total payrolls at their February 2020 prepandemic levels.
On average, the economy has added around 450,000 jobs per month in 2022, an extremely high rate of payroll building. This is even more extraordinary given the very low rate of unemployment and the fact that the U.S. economy contracted in both the first and second quarters of this year."

re 10:24 "...the fact that the U.S. economy contracted in both the first and second quarters of this year."
The "fact"
2 quarters of negative growth = recession.
Highest rate of inflation in 40 years.
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/economy/inflation-rises-to-highest-rate-in-40-years-in-gauge-favored-by-fed
We are involved with a war with Russia, Biden's climate advisor is openly calling for censorship of American citizens, the food bank lines are noticeably longer, energy costs are rising, there are articles talking about unsold inventory piling up. The stock market is tanking:
https://time.com/nextadvisor/investing/experts-predict-stock-market-2022/
The Dems are hell bent on inflation causing spending.
But Paul wants to be cheering for something for the perv imbicile he voted for so he gets excited about folks finally getting back to work from all the covid layoffs.
Whatever keeps the lad happy.
Also we notice Breitbart is suddenly a "good" news source.

Just quoted Breitbart Scott, a Conservative news source that George recommends. Did you read the whole article Scott? Great job Biden. Recovery is on the way.

Paul - "Just quoted Breitbart Scott, a Conservative news source"
Well - duh. That's my point moron. You have said repeatedly it's NOT a credible news source.
Remember?
What has changed, Paul?
"Did you read the whole article Scott?"
Yes Paul - right to the very end. And the part that says we are in a recession.
Did you read my post Paul? Does the overall economic picture sound good when you can only come up with a single bit of good news against the backdrop of a lot of very bad news?
A lot of summer temp jobs are included - we'll see down the line how things go.
Posted by: Scott O | 05 August 2022 at 12:45 PM
Well Whether we are in a recession or not we must all agree that such high employment numbers and job growth is indeed good news. I could have used other news services but Breitbart is one that RR contributors respect so there you go. Do you agree with Breitbarts numbers Scott?
Also falling gas prices is good news.

Quoting the same Breitbart piece:
"The labor force participation rate ticked down a tenth of a point to 62.1 percent. This is still below the February 2020 level, when labor force participation was 63.4 percent."
Posted by: Gregory | 05 August 2022 at 12:53 PM
Paul Emery | 05 August 2022 at 10:24 AM
One reason that the unemployment rate is low is that the unemployed who are not actively seeking employment are not included in the number of unemployed. This is, apparently, easily overlooked and yet another way to deceive using statistics.

‘BLM activist Shaun King threatens to dox, inflict 'pain' on NY Post reporters’
“Houston man Robert Cantrell hanged himself in a jail cell in 2019 after King falsely accused him of murdering a 7-year-old black girl in late 2018. Cantrell and his family received death threats after King posted Cantrell's mugshot on social media, called him a "racist, violent a**hole," and falsely suggested he was responsible for murdering Jazmine Barnes.
Cantrell was in jail for unrelated evasion and robbery charges when he died from an apparent suicide. Barnes's killers, Eric Black and Larry Woodruffe, were ultimately apprehended and convicted. Black was sentenced to 30 years in prison, and Woodruffe was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
In May 2018, King falsely accused a Texas state trooper of raping a black woman during a traffic stop. The trooper was vindicated a few days later after video evidence was released showing he did not assault the woman.“
