George Rebane
Rep Tom McClintock (R-CA4) writes ‘A Nation Without Borders Will Cease to be a Nation’ in the Washington Times. In the piece he gives his usual erudite arguments that support his banner thesis. But this open border travesty is not due to some natural disaster or act of God. The closest he comes to ascribing the cause is to blame the “Biden administration”, a polyglot of faceless, anonymous, and unaccountable minions. The congressman and I have had several talks on how ineffective such responses are in today’s political wars. When the Democrats attack Republicans, they identify their targets by name and pile on them additionally fabricated faults. To the voters this makes the cited problem real, one that is caused by known and dastardly Republicans. It also makes a news story interesting and worth reporting in the vein of ‘let’s you and him fight.’
I have strongly advised our local congressmen (LaMalfa, McClintock, Kiley) in face-to-face conversations to always include names of the Democrat(s) guilty of foisting the latest feckless, foolish, and/or anti-American policy on the country. While I have received mild agreement and no pushback on my recommendation, I have also gotten no traction as is again evident from the above column. If the Republicans want their opposition to Democrats be heard, they need to name names of the guilty bastards who introduce and support the continuous stream of insanities which comprise progressive legislation. Such one-on-one counters make news which people can understand, while word-smithed intellectual repartees will go on to sustain the sound of Republican silence across the land. Engage, dammit!
That's a fair point, since the Republicans have no mad-dog equivalent to the Dems (except for Trump). You are right to encourage engagement by name.
Tulsi 'n Trump.

Since you already seem to know the individuals guilty of " foisting the latest feckless, foolish, and/or anti-American policy on the country" why don't you list them here on your blog and also include the specific legislation you are referring to. Also list the specific legislation you consider to be beneficial to your cause that were introduced and successfully passed under Trump. That way we have a slate of factual assumptions you have we can discuss. Why wait for local congressmen LaMalfa, McClintock, Kiley to make those statements?

PaulE 408pm - You've been missing the boat here on the Left's atrocious policies. I and RR commenters have been doing exactly that for fifteen years. But RR is only a feisty backwater blog. Getting Republican congress critters to go after the evil Dems by name is required for getting national publicity on all the harm they have caused and continue to do daily. For example, have you heard of Newsome's latest 40+ new butt stupid green initiatives to tank California even further - of course you haven't.

Hey look robert francis orurke named one -
Despite losing the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump carried 38% of the Latino vote, a 13 percentage point increase over the level of support that Republican candidates received from that group in the 2018 midterm elections, according to Pew research data.

As an exaqmple you have never outlined Trumps legislative accomplishments to the best of my recollection and never have you been critical of the 7 trillion deficit during Trumps 4 years in office. If you are trying to make a point of destructive government policies why do you ignore this example of what happened under Trump?

What is the problem with wanting some specifics to support your concerns? Also the question as to whether the conditions you vaguely refer to are universal problems not just from one side of the aisle. The reason I bring up Trumps deficit numbers is because even a casual glance at recent history shows that deficit spending and the resultant increase in debt are a problem with both parties and not to just the evil left as you describe it.

Paul, we go over this regularly and you refuse to remember the reason you refuse to listen to.
Wm. F. Buckley, years ago, noted that Democrats were Socialists, and Republicans were reluctant Socialists. Dems have been throwing caution to the wind for years.

Name the bastards who pushed the lie financed by the Clinton campaign in '16 that claimed Trump was Putin's cockholster, as Colbert put it on national TV.
There are still idiots on the left side of the aisle who believe that whopper.

Oh Gregory that is such an antique issue. Happened 6 years ago if indeed it really happened, You can do better than that.

It's still happening, Punch. The rhetoric continued through the 2020 election with the fake claim before the election that the Hunter laptop was "Russian disinformation".
You still think there's a Putin connection to Trump.

The failed former mayor of broken Atlanta might want to look to antifa, crt, the teachers' unions, blm and in the mirror -
"Well, I think it will be important for all of us who care about the United States of America to call out what we see," said Bottoms, the former mayor of Atlanta. "And what we see, again, with this MAGA Republican agenda is an effort to disrupt our democracy. So whether it be through November and beyond November, I think it will always be important to call out any effort there is to destroy, essentially destroy the United States of America."

If he's not your guy Gregory why do you defend everything he does? I mean he's a real nut case and you never speak out against him. This is his latest about declassification:
"There doesn't have to be a process as I understand it, and, you know, there's different people saying different things," Trump told Hannity.
"But as I understand, that doesn't have to be. If you're the president of the United States, you can declassify just by saying: 'It's declassified.' EVEN BY JUST THINKING ABOUT IT " Trump said.

Lying and BS is just about all Paul has left now. He won't respond to questions about what he posts and he resorts to fabrications.
I guess finding out that he proudly voted for a guy who is demonstrably worse in every regard than Trump has twisted his brain completely loose.

"Republicans have no mad-dog equivalent to the Dems (except for Trump)"
The bar is low for Republicans when it comes to who is not a MAGA mad-dog.
And the bar is low for Republicans when it comes to who qualifies as a Dem mad-dog.
I submit that all candidates who believe Trump's election was stolen from him qualify as MAGA mad-dogs. And that is a long list.

Administrivia - Looks like I struck out eliciting relevant comments with this post. I wanted a discussion on the Republicans’ perpetually lame response to Democrats’ attacks which target Republicans by name. These have always been effective since they have been covered in both conservative and liberal media with the named parties being interviewed to keep the issue in the public eye. The Repubs have for some reason eschewed this tactic to their constant deficit. Apparently no one is interested in discussing this political asymmetry, therefore I’m closing comments on this post.
