That's a fair point, since the Republicans have no mad-dog equivalent to the Dems (except for Trump). You are right to encourage engagement by name.

Tulsi 'n Trump.

Paul Emery

George

Since you already seem to know the individuals guilty of " foisting the latest feckless, foolish, and/or anti-American policy on the country" why don't you list them here on your blog and also include the specific legislation you are referring to. Also list the specific legislation you consider to be beneficial to your cause that were introduced and successfully passed under Trump. That way we have a slate of factual assumptions you have we can discuss. Why wait for local congressmen LaMalfa, McClintock, Kiley to make those statements?

George Rebane

PaulE 408pm - You've been missing the boat here on the Left's atrocious policies. I and RR commenters have been doing exactly that for fifteen years. But RR is only a feisty backwater blog. Getting Republican congress critters to go after the evil Dems by name is required for getting national publicity on all the harm they have caused and continue to do daily. For example, have you heard of Newsome's latest 40+ new butt stupid green initiatives to tank California even further - of course you haven't.

Don Bessee

Hey look robert francis orurke named one -

Despite losing the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump carried 38% of the Latino vote, a 13 percentage point increase over the level of support that Republican candidates received from that group in the 2018 midterm elections, according to Pew research data.

George

As an exaqmple you have never outlined Trumps legislative accomplishments to the best of my recollection and never have you been critical of the 7 trillion deficit during Trumps 4 years in office. If you are trying to make a point of destructive government policies why do you ignore this example of what happened under Trump?

Don Bessee

To the best of my recollection' now thats rich oh great ponytail of ignorance. LOL

George Rebane

PaulE 656pm - Paul, you have completely missed the point and purpose of this blog post.

What is the problem with wanting some specifics to support your concerns? Also the question as to whether the conditions you vaguely refer to are universal problems not just from one side of the aisle. The reason I bring up Trumps deficit numbers is because even a casual glance at recent history shows that deficit spending and the resultant increase in debt are a problem with both parties and not to just the evil left as you describe it.

Paul, we go over this regularly and you refuse to remember the reason you refuse to listen to.

Wm. F. Buckley, years ago, noted that Democrats were Socialists, and Republicans were reluctant Socialists. Dems have been throwing caution to the wind for years.

Name the bastards, done. McClintock, LaMalfa, Kiley, Taylor Green, Bobert, Hawley, and all the cowards who stand behind Trump's lies.

Gregory

Name the bastards who pushed the lie financed by the Clinton campaign in '16 that claimed Trump was Putin's cockholster, as Colbert put it on national TV.

There are still idiots on the left side of the aisle who believe that whopper.

Paul Emery

Oh Gregory that is such an antique issue. Happened 6 years ago if indeed it really happened, You can do better than that.

Gregory

It's still happening, Punch. The rhetoric continued through the 2020 election with the fake claim before the election that the Hunter laptop was "Russian disinformation".

You still think there's a Putin connection to Trump.

Don Bessee

As someone who reeks of rancid russian dressing you would of course want to pretend it never happened but its well documented and clearly falls into your mine full of things you want to ignore. ROFLOL

The failed former mayor of broken Atlanta might want to look to antifa, crt, the teachers' unions, blm and in the mirror -

"Well, I think it will be important for all of us who care about the United States of America to call out what we see," said Bottoms, the former mayor of Atlanta. "And what we see, again, with this MAGA Republican agenda is an effort to disrupt our democracy. So whether it be through November and beyond November, I think it will always be important to call out any effort there is to destroy, essentially destroy the United States of America."

Half of voters in 2016 thought Trump stole the election with Putin's help, and in 2020 they're pretending 2020 was fair and open.

"Happened 6 years ago if indeed it really happened,..."
So, which is it, Paul?
Did it happen 6 yrs ago or did it not happen at all?
Since Paul thinks there is a time limit, maybe he could tell us what the secret time limit is?

Who cares Gregory. Your guy Trump is the biggest political loser in modern history and a gift to the Dems. He'll trash the Repub
party on his way to yet another loss.

Gregory

The other half of the country cares, Punch, and Trump isn't "my guy", but you know that.

I suspect the House and the Senate are going Red this year.

Paul Emery

If he's not your guy Gregory why do you defend everything he does? I mean he's a real nut case and you never speak out against him. This is his latest about declassification:

"There doesn't have to be a process as I understand it, and, you know, there's different people saying different things," Trump told Hannity.

"But as I understand, that doesn't have to be. If you're the president of the United States, you can declassify just by saying: 'It's declassified.' EVEN BY JUST THINKING ABOUT IT " Trump said.

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-claims-he-could-declassify-documents-thinking-about-doing-it-2022-9

Scott O

from Paul - "If he's not your guy Gregory why do you defend everything he does? I mean he's a real nut case and you never speak out against him."
Lying and BS is just about all Paul has left now. He won't respond to questions about what he posts and he resorts to fabrications.
I guess finding out that he proudly voted for a guy who is demonstrably worse in every regard than Trump has twisted his brain completely loose.

‘Remembering Hate Speech’

What we used to know as “hate speech” is now presidentially acceptable speech, and what has followed from it is no surprise.

Paul Emery, or Punchy, your descriptive name, NO!, countering the hallucinations of rabid Trump detractors such as yourself which I have not been afraid to do, is not equivalent to supporting everything Trump says or does, which I have not done.

Paul Emery

So Gregory do you support Trumps contention that he can declassify top secret documents ' EVEN BY JUST THINKING ABOUT IT " ?

Boop Boop

"Republicans have no mad-dog equivalent to the Dems (except for Trump)"

The bar is low for Republicans when it comes to who is not a MAGA mad-dog.
And the bar is low for Republicans when it comes to who qualifies as a Dem mad-dog.

I submit that all candidates who believe Trump's election was stolen from him qualify as MAGA mad-dogs. And that is a long list.

Would you support Obama or Biden if they said or did the same thing? What if Obama had a stack of documents with classified markings next to his Presidential Potty on Martha's Vineyard for light multitasking reading?

I'd refer to the Court rulings on the powers of the Presidency. What do the Supremes say?

Administrivia - Looks like I struck out eliciting relevant comments with this post. I wanted a discussion on the Republicans’ perpetually lame response to Democrats’ attacks which target Republicans by name. These have always been effective since they have been covered in both conservative and liberal media with the named parties being interviewed to keep the issue in the public eye. The Repubs have for some reason eschewed this tactic to their constant deficit. Apparently no one is interested in discussing this political asymmetry, therefore I’m closing comments on this post.
