[In updating the government’s butt stupid department, we witnessed today a major speech by SecTreas Janet Yellen assuring the Red Chinese that that US has no intention in surpassing them in international trade and economic progress, let alone outcompeting them in military matters. Then for what in hell are these people getting paid?? gjr]
The whole text of the yellen chi com ass kissing is telling as creepy grampa joes team is bought and paid for and then there is this. -
The statement made two references to Biden policies that they believe make the U.S. “dependent on China,” and argued that their proposal would reduce that dependency. Republicans have repeatedly expressed concern that increasing U.S. adoption of electric vehicles and solar panels will leave the country reliant on China, which leads the world in manufacturing of those products and mining the rare minerals required for their components.
The IRA limits tax credits on electric vehicles and solar panels to those whose components are mostly manufactured in the U.S. Those provisions of the law have sparked a domestic manufacturing boom, and climate activists predict that repealing the clean-energy subsidies would cripple a fast-growing industry

Residents erupt as Michigan Democrats approve funding for Chinese-backed green energy project: 'I'm angry'
'We are tired of being abused,' one resident told the state lawmakers
During the Michigan state Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, lawmakers led by Democratic state Sen. Sarah Anthony, the panel's chair, gave final approval of $175 million in taxpayer funding for Gotion — a subsidiary of the Hefei, China-based Gotion High-Tech — to build an electric vehicle (EV) battery plant in Big Rapids. The measure passed in a tight 10-9 vote with every committee Republican and three Democrats voting against it.

Former CIA Acting Director Michael Morell testified to the House Judiciary Committee on April 4 that now-Secretary of State Blinken called him about the laptop story just days after the New York Post published it and that the call “triggered” Morell to draft the statement.

You know what makes this sort of thing even more fun is that I'll bet it isn't only The State that's on the other side. There's bound to be a whole universe of 'non-profit' grifters that are happy to run lawsuits and keep a little of that sweet cash on the side. Heck, you could probably threaten to sue and wait for a 'donation'.
Such is life in Team Blue: World Police. An economy built on protection rackets.
You know, if I was sufficiently rich and didn't need to live near the office, I'd probably just bail from clots of people and buy a really large property. Even California is nice if you don't have any neighbors, especially the sort that walk around with sleeping bags. Need city experiences now and again? Get a luxury apartment in Tokyo and avoid the magic of US street life.

Well, I guess you could consider stealing catalytic converters as a form of jobs program.
Also, in the immortal words of Ms. Raman:
"Phasing out gas hookups is absolutely essential if we're going to avert climate disaster."
I rather like the idea of single-sourcing all heat, cooking, water heat, transportation, in addition to AC/lighting/food storage to a single wire somewhere...plus you aren't allowed to use nuclear power or fossil fuels to make the stuff.
Hilarity will ensue.
I wonder how many Tesla Powerwalls you need to get a day's worth of an all-electric home in the winter.
Ya know, and I might be wrong here, if you can't buy a new gas home furnace starting 2030, it might behoove everyone to buy one in 2029. lol, just imagine the 'lectric drops they'll have to make to older houses starting in 2030. What about alternative sources of heat? Just imagine the opportunities for pipe freezing on a one week outage, you betcha.

Here's a good one that shows where the Republicans are going with child labor laws.
"On Wednesday Arkansas governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the former White House press secretary, signed the Youth Hiring Act of 2023, which says that children under 16 do not need to get permission from the Division of Labor to work or obtain an employment certificate verifying their age, work schedule, and written consent from a parent or guardian. In explaining Sanders’s thinking, her communications director claimed that previous permit requirements put an “arbitrary burden on parents."

From the law:
"(1) Dispense with the state's requirement that children under

The difference is that they no longer need a state certificate.

“In findings that will shock no one living in the real world, reviews of evidence in several European countries reportedly found that transgender treatments and surgeries don’t actually solve mental health issues as predicted. Many young people are talked into “gender transitions” because they are told that this is the best or only way to prevent suicide. But the evidence simply isn’t there to back up such a claim.”

tl;dr fuck off
everyone else:
Child labor laws are interesting. There's a lot more to it than some state-issued certificate to allow a kid to mow your lawn. Imagine telling some farmer that his kids can't collect eggs without a state license.
https://www.labor.arkansas.gov/wp-content/uploads/Child_Labor-Rules-July-2-2020.pdf
It really does hit at the fine line between individual agency, state control, parental control. Naturally there's people who want The State to control all aspects of the deal. Crafting this kind of rule set looks tricky to me and always seems to accrete over time as all the do-gooders' good ideas get layered on. Sorta like abortion law I guess, at what point does a proto-human receive a certain amount of legal protection?

"Would Joe Biden be the president United States if there hadn't been the laptop cover-up?" he asked. "I doubt it."
I think you could make a case for it, especially if dug into a bit. As the Senator from Mastercard, Mr. Biden has a pretty long trail of crookedness in the family biz, but seems no worse to me than the average major league politician. Once the federal government metastasized to it's current size, it all started to matter a lot more. Given the average voter's tendency to follow a trend (just look at psul), even a small thing can have large results.
The minute that overall control of the population is inorganic, imposed from above, the sleaze is unavoidable. There's a reason that Soviet officials had special retail stores, nice dachas and cars.
One dead nuts certainty is that COVID lost the Presidency for Trump via a combination of voting law change and a general feeling of doom. I honestly think that any administration would have been about as hapless, but the truth is that well-designed (or evolved) airborne viruses are simply a thing that humans are incapable of dealing with as of yet. Most institutional actions are pretty valueless.

There is some health care, though - the girls get free abortions so they can continue to provide money to the pimps.

Well Scott it's now allowed in Arkansas because of Republican governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Posted by: Paul Emery | 22 April 2023 at 09:45 AM
Paul - I'm not quite sure why it is you want to advertise to the world how F'n ignorant you are……
C’mon man…..an overt display of the faith can keep a “brother” out of trouble and in free drinks for a long time.
They don’t call it “virtue signaling” for nothing…..!

Are you saying that my 9:45 is not true? Can you document that?
Just a reminder to readers that "fish' or whatever he calls himself uses a fake name because he's ashamed to use his real name because his opinions are an embarrassment to his family.
Posted by: Paul Emery | 22 April 2023 at 09:56 AM
Hilarious - "it's now allowed in Arkansas..."
American citizens "allowed" to be gainfully employed!!!
Just shocking, I tell you, shocking!
What fresh hell will Paul uncover next?

Hey Paul! Can you "document" that?

So Scott has no problem with 14 year olds working in meat processing plants in Arkansas without their family knowing about it.

Can you document why you use a fake name?

Might want to start drawing any government entitlements now……no telling how long they’re going to last.
This is in near exact alignment with other predictions made by people I’m familiar with who have above average analysis and predictive track records.
Plan accordingly.

I'm trying to figure out how my son at age 14 could be working in a meat processing plant in Arkansas without my knowledge.

The Biden administration removed Nigeria from the Human Rights Violators List. Some speculate that they feel it is O.K. to kill Christians as long as they get their oil. “Last year alone, 5,014 Christians were killed in Nigeria — accounting for nearly 90% of Christian deaths worldwide as well [as] 90% of Christian kidnappings across the globe”

Well, at least Trump did not have Melania euthanatize the little fellow. Surprisingly for a Limousine Liberal.

"BRICS de-dollarization push gaining momentum – Jakarta"
That's a thing I genuinely wonder about, what is a decent estimate in a drop to the dollar's value if it loses status as a world currency? Maybe a person's best start might be looking at the English pound over time, but so many circumstances are different. Debt. Backing by metals. Lack of crazy derivatives, money less mobile, money not traded by computer.
Plus other currencies have their own problems. What are the BRIC+ planning on doing for banking really? Maybe they could set up a currency backed by commodity values, but I really have no idea.
Settling transactions sounds like a more complicated business that you might give credit (so to speak) to.

I did hear that they're going to prop up ol' Joe and have him announce his candidacy in a recorded message. God knows you couldn't take a chance on a live gig.
The perfect President for these times. A man never famed for his intellect with obvious physical and cognitive decline, some unseen staff members with their hands up his backside making his mouth move.

The dollar had long been seen as "the least dirty shirt in the closet" but with the freezing of dollar assets of the non compliant I'm not sure that even this will be enough for it to hold! I think that a new patchwork settlement and storage infrastructure is probably being worked on furiously as we speak.
All it really takes is seeing enough "people" looking towards the exits.
Batten down the hatches!

Kinda sad that none of you have any concern about poor fish who cannot use his real name to express an opinion. Pretty sad actually and I am concerned about his situation. I know he doesn't live around here, if you believe what he once said. At one point he said he's from somewhere near Sacramento but that could be fake as well. Perhaps he's a paid agitator from China or Russia who knows. He certainly is a Trump supporter, no doubt about that. Possibly he's QAnon. His opinions are wacko enough.

re: The Bud Light Boycott
Easiest boycott in the world. No protests, no letter writing campaign, no nasty grams sent to corporate. The right generally does not stage big demonstrations and bust up persons, places, and things to protest a product. Not our style. If you want to down some Bud Light brewskis, it’s up to you. Personally, I have had enough, thank you very much.
Depending how one defines market cap, Budweiser is a 170 billion international company and has lost only 5 billion. That is taking the share price x total shares. Some figure it a different way and come up with 130 billion. Whatever.
It is best to focus on one thing. Not let it peter out. The cost to make it all better is simple, but not easy. Expensive to the company. An apology from Anheuser-Busch to its core customers. A apology is all we ask, nothing more, nothing less.
Other companies like Nike have already factored in the costs of going Woke and won’t change a thing. It’s their core customer base so a dude without breasts modeling sports bras is A-OK with Nike. A dude with a dick modeling as the face and spokesperson of WOMEN is not ok with Bud Light consumers, albeit some don’t give a rats ass nor follow the news or even care one way or another.
Keep it up until there is a clear apology from Busch. It is amazing to me how many craft beers Budweiser owns. AB- (?) on the cans. Amazing also how many craft beers are owned 50% by Busch.
Keep the pressure up. Just one product. No death threats, no doxxing corporate individuals, fire off a e-Mail if you must, but protest with your wallet. Easy peasy.

Punchy said Trump’s the reason we lost faith in our government. A sacred trust. Well true libertarians never had much faith in our government to begin with, neither did our Founding Fathers, old liberals, or those on the right like me. ‘I love my country but fear my government’ the old bummer stick read. Don’t tread on me and all that stuff.
It is not Trump that made many lose trust in our government. It is the government cabal that made folks lose trust in the government. I do trust that our government wil do the wrong thing. Feed the beast.

"Punchy said Trump’s the reason we lost faith in our government."
I kinda remember back to ol' J Edgar and Lyndon Baines and the people's total love and respect for the govt back then. They told us the honest to gosh truth about everything including all the latest stuff bout the Gulf of Tonkin and Dr King and how swell everything was. There were more than a few "block parties" back then where thousands would celebrate the love and trust they had in our govt. Yessir!
Then Trump came along and said maybe the Krauts and Europe shouldn't be dependent on Russian energy supplies. What a maroon! Boy was he waaaay off base! And he claimed the WooHoo Flu came from CHINA! Can you believe that? Hoo Boy! Now we have a bunch of smarties in there that tell us nothing but the God's own truth!
Yeah, I have "faith" in our govt. Not quite the kind of faith Paul dreams about.
Snakes gonna be snakes. I have faith in that.
