[Low cost vs affordable housing is available in the re-introduction of ‘carriage houses’. The folks in Noblesville, Indiana are discovering that “these units cost considerably less than single-family dwellings and create accessible points into and out of homeownership while preserving neighborhood character. They also have the potential to provide rental income to help property owners afford their mortgages. Few cities and towns are immune from rising material costs and expensive land. But we control zoning and permitting. We should expand housing options without compromising community character.” gjr]

"Kimmel locates this increase in anger in the seismic economic, social and political shifts that have so transformed the American landscape. Downward mobility, increased racial and gender equality, and a tenacious clinging to an anachronistic ideology of masculinity has left many men feeling betrayed and bewildered. Raised to expect unparalleled social and economic privilege, white men are suffering today from what Kimmel calls "aggrieved entitlement": a sense that those benefits that white men believed were their due have been snatched away from them."

Saw it this morning.
Trump lost, but Congress and the bureaucracy's team, that's who won.
You know, those people you carry water for?
He gave it a solid try, but it was bound to be impossible to do the right things. I expect that Musk's main attitude now is that he bought a few years before the collapse by helping Trump into office, but that the collapse is inevitable. It's probably true. Mars will be KVMR-free.
Oh well, maybe an economy made out of old people, coffee shops, Pride flags, and Leonard Cohen reruns is possible. Mining: dead. Tech: mostly dead. Dope: dying. A local government made out of 'activists' should save the day though. Man, the Babylon Bee nailed this one:
"WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressional Republicans have unveiled plans to continue doing the exact opposite of what everyone voted for them to do.
After sweeping to victory in 2024 on the promise of reducing government spending and codifying into law a return to sanity on issues like women's sports, Republicans have announced that they will instead do the complete and total opposite.
"After considering why Americans voted for us in the first place, we have decided to do the absolute polar opposite," announced House Speaker Mike Johnson. "To be clear, our plan isn't to just not do what voters asked us to do. No, sir. We are going for the outright antithesis of everything we were supposed to accomplish. We aren't going to simply not reduce government spending -- we're going to make it so much worse. And we're going to keep at it until we've gotten crushed in the midterms and can't do anything ever. That's a promise.""

It is not clear what constitutional authority Newsom has to withhold federal taxes on behalf of individuals, businesses, and other entities within the state. Trump’s authority to withhold funding is far clearer.
A tax revolt by California would recall the “nullification” doctrine popular in some Southern states before the Civil War. It could also trigger a tax revolt by Californians against their own state taxes, which are very high.

Their lack of physical ability and prowess is somehow shielded by an iPhone.
The deep emotional need, a kind of religious frenzy, for infinite immigration in the West is something that will be studied for decades I think. I can't think of a similar historical situation and it probably is more of an existential threat than any kind of currency and debt collapse. After all, money's gonna do what it always does.

The street armies that could be whistled up show that this is genuinely a sort of invasion. Just imagine if you waited another 20 years.

If Trump was able to deport all the illegal immigrants there would be a huge labor shortage. Who would do these jobs?
"More than 20% of construction workers are undocumented, and the percentage is even higher in specialized roles such as drywall and ceiling tile installers, over one-third of whom are believed to be undocumented. In areas where construction workers are in high demand, such as California’s wildfire-damaged regions, the labor shortage created by deportations would hit particularly hard.
Agriculture would also face significant worker shortages: 40% of crop farmers lack work authorization, according to government estimates."

The real world hits calis feckless dems -
Trump deploying California National Guard over governor's objections to LA to quell protests
President Donald Trump is deploying 2,000 California National Guard troops over the governor's objections to Los Angeles where protests Saturday led to clashes between immigration authorities and demonstrators.
The White House's move to dramatically ratchet up the response came as protests in Los Angeles extended into a second day where tear gas and smoke filled the air as protesters faced off with Border Patrol personnel in riot gear.
In a signal of the administration's aggressive approach, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth threatened in a post on X to deploy the U.S. military.
“If violence continues, active duty Marines at Camp Pendleton will also be mobilized — they are on high alert,” Hegseth said.
Trump federalized part of the California's National Guard under what is known as Title 10 authority, which places him, not the governor, atop the chain of command, according to Newsom's office.
The president’s move came shortly after he issued a threat on his social media network that said that if Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass didn’t “do their jobs,” then “the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem, RIOTS & LOOTERS, the way it should be solved!!!”

Who would do these jobs?
Don’t know….! Let’s undo Biden’s illegal importation of the extra 15 million and then we can sort that out!
You guys should have thought of the consequences before you spread your legs like a cheap whore and let most of the third world waltz right on in!

"Who would do these jobs?"
Gee - I dunno. Maybe some of the millions of unemployed citizens sucking on the welfare tit?
Just a thought.

"If Trump was able to deport all the illegal immigrants there would be a huge labor shortage. Who would do these jobs?"
US citizens, probably at a somewhat higher wage. They also wouldn't steal social security numbers, be so likely to drive around without insurance, use free state health care, give some states more Representatives in the House than they deserve.
It's going to be some work to unwind the evil doings of a generation of Democrats and big business Republicans. Naturally, in-group preference is going to lead to lots of excitement in places like Southern California as Mexican nationals riot around with Mexican flags while pushing for more Mexicans to move here or stay. Of course, the worst thing to someone waving a Mexican flag is ever moving back to Mexico.
Naturally, it would never occur to a minstrel that maybe US citizen roofers and concrete workers need jobs. Think outside your bubble for a minute psul. Some people actually earn their daily bread in a useful manner.
Posted by: scenes | 08 June 2025 at 07:40 AM
...as a side note to those of us who actually give a damn about their countrymen, there's a strong argument to be made for repatriating a whole bunch of people.
Over the next few years, odds are you'll see a bunch of jobs disappear due to widespread adoption of AI, improved automation, robots, etc. Short of borrowing a bunch of cash and putting everyone on welfare, what do you do?
Answer: Remove all the illegal construction workers, yard service people, H1B engineers, economic immigrants of all sorts. Bring in the bare minimum.
Things will get strange for a while, and unlike 'progressive' thinkers, it's probably best to favor the citizens of your country. That's why they invented the things after all.

"Type pad is quirky fer sure."
'Quirky' is a polite way to say 'has a bunch of bugs that they're never going to fix'.
The search function is probably the worst I've ever seen. Unbelievable.
Dunno what 'whitewash' means exactly, although it's probably just another way for white people to bitch about white people (white being Anglo and Northern European Americans I guess, Greeks being more taupe). Having anti in-group notions at such a gut level is odd, but activist progressive thinking is just one more thing for younger people to hate boomers for, you sure run into it a lot on social media.
In the meantime:
"Now hear me out. I'm assembling a team for LA."

So if Trump was able to instantly remove all illegal workers the agriculture and construction industries would lose millions of workers. Imagine what that would do to the economy! Well done Trump
